BACKGROUND: Mosquito-borne viruses cause various infectious diseases in humans and animals. Oya virus (OYAV) and Ebinur Lake virus (EBIV), belonging to the genus Orthobunyavirus within the family Peribunyaviridae, are recognized as neglected viruses with the potential to pose threats to animal or public health. The evaluation of vector competence is essential for predicting the arbovirus transmission risk. METHODS: To investigate the range of mosquito vectors for OYAV (strain SZC50) and EBIV (strain Cu20-XJ), the susceptibility of four mosquito species (Culex pipiens pallens, Cx. quinquefasciatus, Aedes albopictus, and Ae. aegypti) was measured through artificial oral infection. Then, mosquito species with a high infection rate (IR) were chosen to further evaluate the dissemination rate (DR), transmission rate (TR), and transmission efficiency. The viral RNA in each mosquito sample was determined by RT-qPCR. RESULTS: The results revealed that for OYAV, Cx. pipiens pallens had the highest IR (up to 40.0%) among the four species, but the DR and TR were 4.8% and 0.0%, respectively. For EBIV, Cx. pipiens pallens and Cx. quinquefasciatus had higher IR compared to Ae. albopictus (1.7%). However, the EBIV RNA and infectious virus were detected in Cx. pipiens pallens, with a TR of up to 15.4% and a transmission efficiency of 3.3%. CONCLUSIONS: The findings indicate that Cx. pipiens pallens was susceptible to OYAV but had an extremely low risk of transmitting the virus. Culex pipiens pallens and Cx. quinquefasciatus were susceptible to EBIV, and Cx. pipiens pallens had a higher transmission risk to EBIV than Cx. quinquefasciatus.

The development of stable and efficient heterojunction photocatalysts for wastewater environmental purification exhibits a significant challenge. Herien, a promising binary heterojunction complex comprising boron subphthalocyanine bromide/bismuth oxychloride (SubPc-Br/BiOCl) was successfully synthesized using the hydrothermal method, which involved the self-assembled of SubPc-Br on the surface of BiOCl via intermolecular π-π stacking interactions to compose an electron-transporting layer. The photocatalytic efficiency of SubPc-Br/BiOCl for the degradation of tetracycline and the minocycline exhibited a substantial improvement of 29.14% and 53.72%, respectively, compared to the original BiOCl. Experimental characterization and theoretical calculations elucidated that the enhanced photocatalytic performance of the SubPc-Br/BiOCl composite photocatalysts stemmed from the S-scheme electron transport mechanism at the interface between BiOCl and SubPc-Br supramolecules, which broadened the visible light absorption range, increased the carrier molecular efficiency, and accelerated the carriers. Furthermore, molecular dynamic (MD) simulations provided insights into the action trajectories of the two semiconductors, revealing that the presence of SubPc-Br enhances the water and organic pollutant adsorption capabilities of the BiOCl surface within the supramolecular array system. In conclusion, the synthesis and analysis of the binary heterojunction complex SubPc-Br/BiOCl yield valuable insights into the efficient photocatalytic degradation of antibiotics, holding great promise for diverse environmental applications.

Based on our previous research, a 3D-QSAR model (q2=0.51, ONC=5, r2=0.982, F=271.887, SEE=0.052) was established to predict the inhibitory effects of triazole Schiff base compounds on Fusarium graminearum, and its predictive ability was also confirmed through the statistical parameters. According to the results of the model design, 30 compounds with superior bioactivity compared to the template molecule 4 were obtained. Seven of these compounds (DES2-6, DES9-10) with improved biological activity and readily available raw materials were successfully synthesized. Their structures were confirmed through HRMS, NMR, and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis (DES-5). The bioactivity of the final products was investigated through an in vitro antifungal assay. There was little difference in the EC50 values between the experimental and predicted values of the model, demonstrating the reliability of the model. Especially, DES-3 (EC50=9.915 mg/L) and DES-5 (EC50=9.384 mg/L) exhibited better inhibitory effects on Fusarium graminearum compared to the standard drug (SD) triadimenol (EC50=10.820 mg/L). These compounds could serve as potential new fungicides for future research. The interaction between the final products and isocitrate lyase (ICL) was investigated through molecular docking. Compounds with R groups that have a higher electron-donating capacity were found to be biologically active.

Covalent triazine frameworks (CTFs) have recently emerged as an efficient class of photocatalysts due to their structural diversity and excellent stability. Nevertheless, the synthetic reactions of CTFs have usually suffered from poor reversibility, resulting in a low crystallinity of the materials. Here, we report the introduction of methoxy groups on the monomer 2,5-diphenylthiazolo[5,4-d]thiazole to reinforce interlayer π-π interactions of the resulting donor-acceptor type CTFs, which improved crystallinity, further increasing the visible light absorption range and allowing for efficient separation and transport of carriers. The morphology is strongly correlated to the wettability, which has a significant impact on the mass transfer capacity and photocatalytic activity in the photocatalytic reaction. To further improve crystallinity and photocatalytic activity, CTF-NWU-T3 photocatalysts in a bowl shape were prepared using a SiO2 template. The energy band structure, photocatalytic hydrogen evolution, and pollutant degradation efficiency of involved materials were investigated. The donor-acceptor type CTF-NWU-T3 with a bowl-shaped morphology, synthesized using the template method and the introduction of methoxy groups, exhibited an excellent photocatalytic hydrogen production rate of 32064 µmol·h-1·g-1. This study highlights the significance of improving donor-acceptor interactions and increasing the dispersibility of catalyst particles in dispersion to enhance the photocatalytic activity of heterogeneous photocatalysts.

Interfacial solar steam generation is considered a promising approach to address energy and drinking water shortages. However, designing efficient light-absorbing and photothermal-converting materials remains challenging. In this study, we describe a detailed method for synthesising a three-dimensional (3D) hierarchical oxygen defect-rich WO3/Ag/PbS/Ni foam (termed WO3-x/Ag/PbS/NF) composite to realise efficient exciton separation and enhanced photothermal conversion. The 3D heterogeneous ternary photothermal material combines the individual benefits of WO3-x, Ag and PbS, improving charge transfer and promoting photogenerated electron-hole pairs. This enhances light absorption and energy conversion. Theoretical calculations indicate that the increased photothermal conversion efficiency primarily results from the heterojunction between Ag, WO3-x and PbS, facilitating exciton separation and electron transfer. Consequently, the WO3-x/Ag/PbS/NF solar evaporator exhibits exceptional light absorption (98% within the sunlight spectrum), a high evaporation rate of 1.90 kg m-2h-1 under 1 sun and a light-to-heat conversion efficiency of 94%. The WO3-x/Ag/PbS/NF evaporator also exhibits excellent capabilities in seawater desalination and wastewater treatment. This approach introduces a synergistic concept for creating novel multifunctional light-absorbing materials suitable for various energy-related applications.

Fenton reactions are inefficient because the Fe(II) catalyst cannot be recycled in time due to the lack of a rapid electron transport pathway. This results in huge H2 O2 wastage in industrial applications. Here, it is shown that a sustainable heterogeneous Fenton system is attainable by enhancing the ligand-to-metal charge-transfer (LMCT) excited-state lifetime in Fe-gallate complex. By engineering oxygen defects in the complex, the lifetime is improved from 10-90 ps. The lengthened lifetime ensures sufficient concentrations of excited-states for an efficient Fe cycle, realizing previously unattainable H2 O2 activation kinetics and hydroxyl radical (• OH) productivity. Spectroscopic and electrochemical studies show the cyclic reaction mechanism involves in situ Fe(II) regeneration and synchronous supply of oxygen atoms from water to recover dissociated Fe─O bonds. Trace amounts of this catalyst effectively destroy two drug-resistant bacteria even after eight reaction cycles. This work reveals the link among LMCT excited-state lifetime, Fe cycle, and catalytic activity and stability, with implications for de novo design of efficient and sustainable Fenton-like processes.

Energetic materials (EMs) and metals are the important components of solid propellants, and a strong catalysis of metals on EMs could further enhance the combustion performance of solid propellants. Accordingly, the study on the adsorption of EMs such as octahydro-1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocine (HMX), hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX), and ammonium dinitramide (ADN) on metals (Ti, Zr, Fe, Ni, Cu, and Al) was carried out by density functional theory (DFT) to reveal the catalytic effect of metals. The deep dissociation of EMs on Ti and Zr represents a stronger interaction and corresponds to the rapid thermal decomposition behavior of the EMs/metal composite in the experiment. It is expected that DFT calculation can be selected instead of experiments to compare the catalytic effect of metals and preliminarily screen out potential high-performance metals. Based on the data set of the calculated adsorption energy, further machine learning (ML) was used to predict the adsorption energy of EMs on metals for a convenient comparison of the catalytic effect of metals, since a quite high adsorption energy value represents a more thorough dissociation. The kernel ridge regression (KRR) method shows the best performance on predicting adsorption energy and helps to choose the metals for efficiently catalyzing ammonium nitrate (AN) and hexanitrohexaazaisowurtzitane (CL-20). Such adsorption computation and ML not only reveal the decomposition mechanism of EMs on metals but also provide a simple underlying method to predict the catalytic effect of metals.

The broad employment of clean hydrogen through water electrolysis is restricted by large voltage requirement and energy consumption because of the sluggish anodic oxygen evolution reaction. Here we demonstrate a novel alternative oxidation reaction of green electrosynthesis of valuable 3,3'-diamino-4,4'-azofurazan energetic materials and coupled with hydrogen production. Such a strategy could greatly decrease the hazard from the traditional synthetic condition of 3,3'-diamino-4,4'-azofurazan and achieve low-cell-voltage hydrogen production on WS2/Pt single-atom/nanoparticle catalyst. The assembled two-electrode electrolyzer could reach 10 and 100 mA cm-2 with ultralow cell voltages of 1.26 and 1.55 V and electricity consumption of only 3.01 and 3.70 kWh per m3 of H2 in contrast of the conventional water electrolysis (~5 kWh per m3). Density functional theory calculations combine with experimental design decipher the synergistic effect in WS2/Pt for promoting Volmer-Tafel kinetic rate during alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction, while the oxidative-coupling of starting materials driven by free radical could be the underlying mechanism during the synthesis of 3,3'-diamino-4,4'-azofurazan. This work provides a promising avenue for the concurrent electrosynthesis of energetic materials and low-energy-consumption hydrogen production.

Background: Peripheral neuropathy (PN) is prevalent in people with human immunodeficiency virus (PHIV) with no Food and Drug Administration-approved treatment. Therapeutic Chinese massage (TCM) is a promising noninvasive and non-harmful intervention for HIV-related PN. However, relevant research is lacking. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of TCM for HIV-related PN. Method: We conducted a pilot, single-centered, two-arm, double-blinded, randomized controlled trial. Twenty eligible PHIV were recruited primarily from the AIDS Foundation Houston, Inc. in Texas and were randomly assigned into two groups. Ten participants in the intervention group received three weekly 25-min TCM sessions by a certified TCM therapist. The remaining ten control group participants received the same therapist's three weekly 25-min placebo massage sessions on their lower extremities. The outcome was the feasibility of this study as measured by recruitment and completion rates, participant safety, and treatment adherence and compliance, as well as the effect size of the intervention. Results: The study population comprised 20 PHIV (mean age 55.23). This study showed high feasibility as measured by a high rate of recruitment, a 100% rate of completion, and zero serious adverse events. As we inquired 21 respondents for eligibility for the study, all except one had HIV-related PN. All respondents were willing to participate in the study and adhered to the group assignment after they enrolled in the study. The participants' baseline pain was at a medium to a high level (6.30 [2.15] out of 10). Conclusion: Chinese massage is a feasible intervention in PHIV. Future relevant randomized controlled trials are expected. Clinical trial registration: https://clinicaltrials.gov/, NCT05379140.

BACKGROUND: The perinatal period is a crucial time for women, as they experience various biological, psychological, and social stressors. Due to the complexity of this vulnerable time, there is a high prevalence of depressive and anxiety disorders among pregnant women. In 2019, the Health Commission of Shenzhen initiated perinatal mental health screening programme in China. However, attitudes and perceptions of medical staff towards implementing mental health screening programme during pregnancy remain unclear. The aim of this study was to explore the perceptions and attitudes of obstetric staff and midwives towards screening for perinatal mental disorders in pregnant women, and identify their perceived needs and motivations for undertaking this task. METHODS: This is a qualitative exploratory study. Data were collected through in-depth, semi-structured, face-to-face interviews. The dataset was analysed using inductive content analysis. Purposive sampling method was used to recruit 13 participants at a tertiary maternal hospital in Shenzhen from September to November, 2019. RESULTS: A total of 13 obstetric staff was interviewed, including two obstetricians, three midwives, and eight nurses. Four themes were identified from this study: views on perinatal mental health disorders screening, competency in identifying and supporting high-risk groups, barriers to dealing with psychological problems during pregnancy, and the support needs of medical staff in undertaking the tasks of mental health disorders screening. CONCLUSION: Medical staff lacked sufficient knowledge and skills in perinatal psychological health and were not well prepared for the task of screening pregnant women for mental health disorders. To address this issue, medical organisations and relevant government sectors should provide training to medical staff on perinatal mental health disorders, enhance public awareness of perinatal mental health disorders, establish a model of multidisciplinary collaboration for the screening of women's perinatal mental disorders, and provide continuous and holistic care for pregnant women.

Aims: To appraise and synthesize qualitative studies examining older Asian people's experiences of suicidal ideation. Design: Qualitative review and meta-aggregation. Data sources: Four databases were accessed to retrieve papers published between 1990 and 2022 including the grey literature, hand-searching of reference lists of retrieved papers and key journals. The phenomenon of interest included participants older than 60 years old, must have experienced a form of suicidal ideation and/or an unsuccessful attempt, had actively thought about harming themselves and be of Asian ethnicity. Review methods: This review was conducted according to Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research and the Joanna Briggs Institute's System for the Unified Management of the Assessment and Review of Information. Results: Of the 289 potential studies, seven papers met the inclusion criteria. Two synthesized findings resulted from this review-The Suffering Situation: A Life without Meaning in Older Age and The Healing Situation: A Life Worth Living. The experiences of older Asian people varied from feelings of loneliness, despair and isolation to wanting to live a fruitful life into old age. Conclusion: Suicidal ideation in the older person is a growing concern especially with the rise in suicide in this age group. Rising health care costs and erosion of traditional family values means that the older person views themselves as a burden. However, because of the limited number of qualitative studies from an Asian perspective it is difficult to ascertain the full extent of the issues surrounding suicide in older people.

Hepatitis E virus infection is a major cause of acute hepatitis, typically self-limiting but occasionally leading to liver failure. Understanding disease progression factors could inform prevention strategies. This study aimed to analyse the characteristics of a large cohort of hospitalised hepatitis E patients in Tianjin, China, and explore factors influencing their progression to liver failure. A total of 1279 hospitalised patients with hepatitis E were included in this cross-sectional study in Tianjin, China. Student's t-test and the Mann-Whitney U-test were used for comparisons. Multiple logistic regression analysis was used to explore the association. Among these 1279 patients, 107 (8.4%) developed liver failure. Patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) (95% confidence interval [CI] 1.150-2.887, p = 0.011), liver cirrhosis (95% [CI] 2.229-7.224, p < 0.001), and hepatitis B (95% [CI] 1.159-4.512, p = 0.017) were more likely to progress to liver failure. Hepatitis E patients with comorbid DM, liver cirrhosis, or hepatitis B virus co-infection have higher risks of developing liver failure. Hepatitis E vaccination may be recommended for these vulnerable patients to curb disease severity.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by protein aggregation in the brain. Recent studies have revealed the critical role of microglia in AD pathogenesis. This review provides a comprehensive summary of the current understanding of microglial involvement in AD, focusing on genetic determinants, phenotypic state, phagocytic capacity, neuroinflammatory response, and impact on synaptic plasticity and neuronal regulation. Furthermore, recent developments in drug discovery targeting microglia in AD are reviewed, highlighting potential avenues for therapeutic intervention. This review emphasizes the essential role of microglia in AD and provides insights into potential treatments.

BACKGROUND: The surge of positive COVID-19 cases taxed the local health care system and left many older adults initiating home self-care practices. The study aimed to explore the psychological experiences of home-quarantined older women diagnosed with COVID-19 in Hong Kong. METHODS: Ten semi-structured telephone interviews were held among older women from March to April 2022. Inductive thematic analysis was used to analyse the data. RESULTS: Older women experienced psychological distress, anxiety and depression after being infected with COVID-19. The source of their psychological difficulties included fear of losing control over one's health and dignity, feeling a burden to one's family, conflict in balancing risks and responsibilities, and being overwhelmed by the tragic news reported in media. Meanwhile, the participants demonstrated resilience following the infection and found meaning in their experiences, and grew mentally. CONCLUSIONS: The older women in this study have identified the negative impact having a diagnosis and being home-quarantine means to them and their family. Yet, they were also able to take some positives from this. Importantly, the older women report being able to build greater resilience, optimism and wisdom towards COVID-19 in general and feel better prepared for the potential of future positive diagnoses.

AIMS: This study aimed to capture and explore family caregivers' lived experience of caring for hospitalised patients with cancer during the lockdown. BACKGROUND: The unprecedented lockdown episodes due to COVID-19 have brought significant changes in the hospital visiting policies and caregiving practices. As part of the precautionary measures for hospital visits, the bedside companion was restricted to one caregiver for patients with cancer in Shanghai hospitals. DESIGN: This study adopted a descriptive phenomenological approach. METHODS: Data were collected among 20 family caregivers recruited from the Oncology department of a tertiary hospital in Shanghai in May 2022, using purposive sampling method and followed by unstructured, open-ended interviews. Colaizzi's seven-step data analysis method was used to analyse the data to reveal the emergent themes and subthemes of the phenomenon. RESULTS: Four themes were generated on family caregivers' lived experience of caring for hospitalised patients with cancer during the lockdown, including (1) Feeling scared for the patient; (2) Living a life feeling trapped under COVID-19 surveillance; (3) Feeling neglected and unseen; (4) Growing resilience and appreciation. CONCLUSIONS: The lockdown exacerbated the burden of family caregivers when they cared for the hospitalised patients with cancer during the lockdown period. However, positive reframing of the lived experience facilitated their coping with the challenging situation. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE: Findings from this study highlighted the potential proactive roles the healthcare providers could play in improving family caregivers' health and supporting them during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic. REPORTING METHOD: The study adhered to relevant EQUATOR guidelines; the study was reported according to the COREQ checklist. PATIENT OR PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION: Family caregivers of patients with cancer were involved in data collection and member-checking of the transcripts and interpretations of their experiences.

In recent years, lactate has been recognized as an important circulating energy substrate rather than only a dead-end metabolic waste product generated during glucose oxidation at low levels of oxygen. The term "aerobic glycolysis" has been coined to denote increased glucose uptake and lactate production despite normal oxygen levels and functional mitochondria. Hence, in "aerobic glycolysis," lactate production is a metabolic choice, whereas in "anaerobic glycolysis," it is a metabolic necessity based on inadequate levels of oxygen. Interestingly, lactate can be taken up by cells and oxidized to pyruvate and thus constitutes a source of pyruvate that is independent of insulin. Here, we show that the transcription factor Foxp1 regulates glucose uptake and lactate production in adipocytes and myocytes. Overexpression of Foxp1 leads to increased glucose uptake and lactate production. In addition, protein levels of several enzymes in the glycolytic pathway are upregulated, such as hexokinase 2, phosphofructokinase, aldolase, and lactate dehydrogenase. Using chromatin immunoprecipitation and real-time quantitative PCR assays, we demonstrate that Foxp1 directly interacts with promoter consensus cis-elements that regulate expression of several of these target genes. Conversely, knockdown of Foxp1 suppresses these enzyme levels and lowers glucose uptake and lactate production. Moreover, mice with a targeted deletion of Foxp1 in muscle display systemic glucose intolerance with decreased muscle glucose uptake. In primary human adipocytes with induced expression of Foxp1, we find increased glycolysis and glycolytic capacity. Our results indicate Foxp1 may play an important role as a regulator of aerobic glycolysis in adipose tissue and muscle.

The service environment of OCTG (Oil Country Tubular Goods) in oil and gas fields is becoming more and more severe due to the strong affinity between ions or atoms of corrosive species coming from solutions and metal ions or atoms on metals. While it is difficult for traditional technologies to accurately analyze the corrosion characteristics of OCTG in CO2-H2S-Cl- systems, it is necessary to study the corrosion-resistant behavior of TC4 (Ti-6Al-4V) alloys based on an atomic or molecular scale. In this paper, the thermodynamic characteristics of the TiO2(100) surface of TC4 alloys in the CO2-H2S-Cl- system were simulated and analyzed by first principles, and the corrosion electrochemical technologies were used to verify the simulation results. The results indicated that all of the best adsorption positions of corrosive ions (Cl-, HS-, S2-, HCO3-, and CO32-) on TiO2(100) surfaces were bridge sites. A forceful charge interaction existed between Cl, S, and O atoms in Cl-, HS-, S2-, HCO3-, CO32-, and Ti atoms in TiO2(100) surfaces after adsorption in a stable state. The charge was transferred from near Ti atoms in TiO2 to near Cl, S, and O atoms in Cl-, HS-, S2-, HCO3-, and CO32-. Electronic orbital hybridization occurred between 3p5 of Cl, 3p4 of S, 2p4 of O, and 3d2 of Ti, which was chemical adsorption. The effect strength of five corrosive ions on the stability of TiO2 passivation film was S2- > CO32- > Cl- > HS- > HCO3-. In addition, the corrosion current density of TC4 alloy in different solutions containing saturated CO2 was as follows: NaCl + Na2S + Na2CO3 > NaCl + Na2S > NaCl + Na2CO3 > NaCl. At the same time, the trends of Rs (solution transfer resistance), Rct (charge transfer resistance), and Rc (ion adsorption double layer resistance) were opposite to the corrosion current density. The corrosion resistance of TiO2 passivation film to corrosive species was weakened owing to the synergistic effect of corrosive species. Severe corrosion resulted, especially pitting corrosion, which further proved the simulation results mentioned above. Thus, this outcome provides the theoretical support to reveal the corrosion resistance mechanism of OCTG and to develop novel corrosion inhibitors in CO2-H2S-Cl- environments.

OBJECTIVE: To clarify whether fucoxanthin plays a protective role and regulates parkin-mediated mitophagy on retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) against glutamate excitotoxicity. METHODS: The excitotoxicity model of primary RGCs was carried out with glutamate. Mitochondrial membrane potential was measured by JC-1 kit (Abcam, USA). The apoptotic rate and cytotoxicity were detected by Hoechst staining and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) kit (Takara, Japan). Mitochondria was assessed by MitoTracker staining and confocal microscopy. The mRNA levels and protein expression levels of Bax, Bcl-2, parkin, optineurin, LC3, and LAMP1 in RGCs were analyzed by quantitative PCR and immunoblotting. Finally, the mitochondrial health score and mitophagy were assessed by transmission electron microscopy. RESULTS: Fucoxanthin increased the mitochondrial membrane potential of RGCs, reduced cytotoxicity, and decreased apoptosis in RGCs under glutamate excitotoxicity. It also enhanced expression levels of parkin, optineurin, and LAMP1, and upgraded the ratio of LC3-II to LC3-I. Meanwhile, fucoxanthin increased LC3 and MitoTracker co-localization staining. In addition, up-regulated mitochondrial health score, and the number of autophagosomes and mitophagosomes were observed in fucoxanthin-treated RGCs under glutamate excitotoxicity. CONCLUSION: Fucoxanthin may exert its neuroprotective effect on RGCs via promoting parkin-mediated mitophagy under glutamate excitotoxicity. The neuroprotective effect of fucoxanthin in glaucomatous neurodegeneration and ocular diseases characterized by impaired mitophagy warrants further investigation.

In this study, we investigated the diversity of diatrypaceous fungi from southeastern Tibet in China. The phylogenetic analyses were carried out based on ITS and ß-tubulin sequences of 75 taxa of Diatrypaceae from around the world. Based on a combination of morphological features and molecular evidence, a new genus-Alloeutypa, with three new species-A. milinensis, Diatrype linzhiensis, and Eutypella motuoensis, and a new combination-A. flavovirens, were revealed by the materials in China. Alloeutypa is characterized by stromatal interior olivaceous buff, stromata producing well-developed discrete, and ascospores allantoid, subhyaline. These characteristics separate the new genus from the similar genus Eutypa. Comprehensive morphological descriptions, illustrations, and a phylogenetic tree to show the placement of new taxa are provided. All novelties described herein are morphologically illustrated and phylogeny investigated to better integrate taxa into the higher taxonomic framework and infer their phylogenetic relationships as well as establish new genera and species. Our results indicate that the diatrypaceous fungi harbor higher species diversity in China.

Metal oxides (MOs) are of great importance in catalysts, sensor, capacitor and water treatment. Nano-sized MOs have attracted much more attention because of the unique properties, such as surface effect, small size effect and quantum size effect, etc. Hematite, an especially important additive as combustion catalysts, can greatly speed up the thermal decomposition process of energetic materials (EMs) and enhance the combustion performance of propellants. This review concludes the catalytic effect of hematite with different morphology on some EMs such as ammonium perchlorate (AP), cyclotrimethylenetrinitramine (RDX), cyclotetramethylenete-tranitramine (HMX), etc. The method for enhancing the catalytic effect on EMs using hematite-based materials such as perovskite and spinel ferrite materials, making composites with different carbon materials and assembling super-thermite is concluded and their catalytic effects on EMs is also discussed. Therefore, the provided information is helpful for the design, preparation and application of catalysts for EMs.
