RESUMEN

The physical state of body construction of 651 practically health women 20-55 years old were studied by using a complex of anthropometric and bioelectric methods (conditional norm, slavonians, inhabitants of Moscow region). The leptosome constitutional group was established in 152 cases (23.3%), mesosome group was exposes in 259 cases (39.8%), megalosome group was revealed in 189 cases (29.0%) and indeterminate group was fixed in 78 cases (8.0%). Women of mesoplastic somatotype were established in 26.9%, sthenoplastic somatotype--in 16.7%, picnic somatotype--in 13.7%, subathletic somatorype--in 11.5%, euriplastic somatotype--in 12.3%, athletic somatotype--in 5.2% and asthenic somatotype--in 1.7%. Sizes and weight parameters were depending on type of women body construction. Norm of body mass index for asthenic women was fixed as 16.9; for sthenoplastic somatotype--20.3; for athletic somatotype--23.1; for subathletic somatotype--24.2; for mesoplastic somatotype--24.6; for euriplastic somatotype--24.7; for picnic somatotype--26.2. The length of women body was varied from 158.2 +/- 0.5 (152.0-165.0) cm for sthenoplastic somatotype and 159.6 +/- 0.4 (152.0- 164.8) cm for mesoplastic somatotype to 169.4 +/- 1.7 (162.2-187.4) cm for athletic somatotype. Body weight was also in correspondence with type of constitution. It was 47.8 +/- 0.6 (44.2-54.6) kg for asthenic somatotype, 50.6 +/- 0.4 (42.6-54.2) kg for sthenoplastic somatotype, 62.2 +/- 0.2 (56.3-64.9) kg for mesoplastic somatotype, 68.6 +/- 0.7 (64.5-82.7) kg for picnic somatotype, 66.2 +/- 1.0 (62.0-76.5) kg for athletic somatotype, 68.2 +/- 1.0 (63.4-76.5) kg for subathletic somatotype and 75.0 +/- 1.0 (68.4-92.5) kg for euriplastic somatotype. Mass of bone component was minimal for women of picnic somatotype (6.4 +/- 0.1 kg) as well as asthenic somatotype (7.3 +/- 0.3 kg) and maximal for subathletic (9.3 +/- 0.1 kg) and euriplastic (9.4 +/- 0.1 kg) somatotypes. Skeletal muscles mass was varied from 18.7 +/- 0.4 kg (asthenic somatotype) to 30.2 +/- 0.4 kg (athletic somatotype). Fat tissue mass was varied from 7.0 +/- 0.2 kg (asthenic somatotype) to 32.2 +/- 0.2 kg (euriplastic somatotype). There were established intercommunications between women constitutional characteristics and pecualiarities of their body construction.

RESUMEN

The paper historically considers the impact of social differentiation on the physical development of children and adolescents. It analyzes the scientific contribution of Prof. Lev Abramovich Syrkin (1894-1951) to the formation and development of a system for anthropometric studies in Russia in the first half of the twentieth century (1920s to 1950s), to the elaboration of principles in the standardization of tools, and to the unification of anthropometric studies and standards for the physical development of preschool and school children.

RESUMEN

Different aspects of evolvement and development of university hygiene in this country are considered. The first studies on learning environment, living conditions and health status of students were conducted in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in main Russian scientific centres. Researchers and specialists of their hygiene departments greatly contributed to the development of this discipline. Systematic studies date back to the foundation of the university hygiene laboratory at I.M.Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy. Today the laboratory focuses on the complex problem "Lifestyle and health status of main participants of the educational process, students and professors".

RESUMEN

Menstrual function and gynecologic morbidity were studied in 4202 female students from medical, engineering, and chemical institutes. They were found to have algomenorrhea, ovary dysfunction, algo-hyper-polymenorrhea, hyper-polymenorrhea. Among genital inflammations there were predominant erosion of the cervix uteri, adnexitis, and colpitis. After therapeutical and conditioning measures the vast majority of girls convalesced.

RESUMEN

The Chernobyl accident led to contamination of vast territories of Russia by man-made radionuclides. One of such regions is the Tula region. For realization of programs aimed at alleviation of the accident consequences, medical and sanitary measures were taken, including many-year monitoring of radiation pollution in the region and health status of various population groups, primarily children. Complex studies were carried out, making use of radiation, sociohygienic, epidemiological, psychophysiological, anthropometric, clinical laboratory, cytogenetic, immunological, and other methods. Dynamic examinations of children of different age demonstrated that radioactive precipitations at a density of 5-15 Ci/m2 did not directly affect children's health; however essential deviations in the health status, such as changes in morbidity, physical development, and incidence of immunodeficiencies have been revealed. The authors consider that realization of health protection programs should concern primarily children.

RESUMEN

Three-year study covered 562 students of 3 faculties (medical, prophylactic, scientific) in Moscow Sechenov Medical Academy. Health state, fatiguability, information load, daily schedule and academic results for the students were compared. Having higher information load (1.5 times in average), the students of scientific faculty demonstrated higher academic results, better adaptation to educational process and future professional activities. Health state parameters for this portion of students were similar to those for other examinees.

RESUMEN

Assessing the physical development of children residing in the developed chemical industrial town has revealed that more than a fourth of the children examined are abreast of their biological age and that there is a trend for reducing the number of those who have the level of biological development which corresponds to their age. In the total morbidity pattern among children, respiratory diseases rank first, whose proportion increases in the higher air-polluted areas. A comprehensive assessment shows that the overwhelming majority (88-93%) belong to Health Groups II-IY, which is indicative of the unfavourable environmental factors of the town. The predictive calculation makes it possible to determine possible changes in the morbidity rates due to the identified diseases. The morbidity rate shows 4-6 increases per each unit of changes in the complex indicator of environmental pollution.

RESUMEN

Comparison of the official and research data on congenital developmental defects frequency (CDDF) in children of Novomoskovsk showed their disagreement. The average CDDF in these children is not more than the Middle European level. Physical development of children is insufficient for their biological age in 25% of cases. Many children suffer from respiratory diseases because of ambient air pollution. The majority of children (88-93%) are referred to 2-4 th health groups according to WHO classification.
