RESUMEN

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) exhibits clinical, genetic, and immunohistochemical heterogeneity. However, the differences between primary extranodal or nodal DLBCL and double-expressor lymphoma (DEL), which is characterized by high MYC and BCL2 expression, remain unclear. This study aimed to elucidate the clinicopathological features, response to therapy, and clinical outcomes of primary extranodal (n=61) and nodal (n=128) DLBCL. Patients with primary nodal DLBCL had higher BCL2 expression than those with extranodal DLBCL (p=0.048), with high MYC expression and DEL as poor prognostic factors. Conversely, in patients with primary extranodal DLBCL, high BCL2 expression, low BCL6 expression, non-germinal center B-cell-like type, and DEL indicated poor prognosis. DEL was significantly associated with progression free survival and overall survival in patients with primary extranodal DLBCL (p=0.014 and p=0.021, respectively) but not in patients with primary nodal DLBCL (p=0.37 and p=0.084, respectively). Our findings highlight primary extranodal DEL as a strong adverse prognostic factor in DLBCL.

RESUMEN

The generation of spin-polarised carriers in a non-magnetic material holds the key to realise highly efficient spintronic devices. Recently, it has been shown that the large spin-orbit coupling can generate spin-polarised currents in noble metals such as tungsten and platinum. Especially, if small samples of such metals are rotated on a plane disc in the presence of a perpendicular magnetic field, the orbital angular momentum is altered leading to a segregation of spin up and spin down electrons, i.e., a spin current in the samples. This is manifested via an induced magnetic moment on the metal. In this letter, magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE) is used to detect induced magnetic moments which allows remote measurements on metal samples rotating at 100~210 Hz. Our results confirm the mechanical generation of spin-polarised currents via optical detection of spin accumulation.

RESUMEN

We propose a new technique for quantitative trajectory analysis of gliding phenomenon of Navicula pavillardii (NP) and Seminavis robusta (SR) diatom cells by single cell observation using a glass microchamber in this short technical note. Two-dimensional trajectory analysis of cell movements was used to determine the angular velocity, velocity, and migration distances of the diatom movement. Based on the trajectory analysis, we found that asymmetrically shaped SR had a larger angular velocity with large fluctuations compared to symmetrically shaped NP, although the velocity of SR was less than that of NP. It suggests that lateral frictional force in a culture medium is an important factor for diatom movements. Our results revealed that the single cell observation using a glass microchamber is effective on quantitative analysis of angular velocity of diatom gliding.
