RESUMEN

This paper presents the design of microstrip-based multiplexers using stub-loaded coupled-line resonators. The proposed multiplexers consist of a diplexer and a triplexer, meticulously engineered to operate at specific frequency bands relevant to IoT systems: 2.55 GHz, 3.94 GHz, and 5.75 GHz. To enhance isolation and selectivity between the two passband regions, the diplexer incorporates five transmission poles (TPs) within its design. Similarly, the triplexer filter employs seven transmission poles to attain the desired performance across all three passbands. A comprehensive comparison was conducted against previously reported designs, considering crucial parameters such as size, insertion loss, return loss, and isolation between the two frequency bands. The fabrication of the diplexer and triplexer was carried out on a compact Rogers Duroid 5880 substrate. The experimental results demonstrate an exceptional performance, with the diplexer exhibiting a low insertion loss of 0.3 dB at 2.55 GHz and 0.4 dB at 3.94 GHz. The triplexer exhibits an insertion loss of 0.3 dB at 2.55 GHz, 0.37 dB at 3.94 GHz, and 0.2 dB at 5.75 GHz. The measured performance of the fabricated diplexer and triplexer aligns well with the simulated results, validating their effectiveness in meeting the desired specifications.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To assess the knowledge, attitude and practice of students and physicians regarding tissue and organ donation at a teaching hospital. Methods: The cross-sectional study was conducted at the Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi, in 2019, and comprised physicians and students of ether gender. Data was collected using a 43-item self-administered questionnaire. Dichotomous questions were scored as 1 or 0, while multiple-option questions were scored as 2, 1 or 0. Data was analysed using SPSS 25. RESULTS: Of the 859 subjects, 761(88.6%) were students with a mean age of 20.3±1.5 years and 98(11.4%) were physicians with a mean age of 30.6±9.4. Among the students, 630(82.8%) were medical students, while 131(17.2%) were dental. The largest group among the students was of those in the second year of their studies 271(35.6%). Besides, 531(69.8%) and 64(65.3%) physicians were females. Compared to males, female students reported better mean scores in terms of attitude, while higher practice scores were obtained by both male students and physicians (p=0.021). Muslim subjects scored comparatively lower in knowledge, attitude and practice terms than non-Muslims (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: There were high knowledge and attitude scores, while scores reflecting practice were low. Effective measures should be taken to encourage medical professionals to donate organs and promote organ donation.

RESUMEN

The direct simultaneous detection of electron and positron bunch signals was successfully performed for the first time with wideband pickups and a detection system at the positron capture section of the SuperKEKB factory. The time interval between the electron and positron bunches, their bunch lengths, and bunch intensities depending on the phase of accelerating structures were measured to investigate their capture process and to maximally optimize the positron intensity. The results show that the time intervals were measured in the range of 135-265 ps, and the line-order switch of the electron and positron bunches in the axial direction was clearly observed as a function of the phase. The positron (electron) intensity was maximized at the optimal phase (180[Formula: see text] shifted from the optimum). These series of measurements have never been experimentally conducted so far. It is demonstrated that the positron intensity can be systematically optimized with this system as functions of beam parameters in multidimensional spaces for any positron capture section.

RESUMEN

Herein, halo-functionalized hydrazone derivatives "2-[(6'-chloroazin-2'-yl)oxy]-N'-(2-fluorobenzylidene) aceto-hydrazone (CPFH), 2-[(6'-chloroazin-2'-yl)oxy]-N'-(2-chlorobenzylidene) aceto-hydrazones (CCPH), 2-[(6'-chloroazin-2'-yl)oxy]-N'-(2-bromobenzylidene) aceto-hydrazones (BCPH)" were synthesized and structurally characterized using FTIR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and UV-vis spectroscopic techniques. Computational studies using density functional theory (DFT) and time dependent DFT at CAM-B3LYP/6-311G (d,p) level of theory were performed for comparison with spectroscopic data (FT-IR, UV-vis) and for elucidation of the structural parameters, natural bond orbitals (NBOs), natural population analysis, frontier molecular orbital (FMO) analysis and nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of hydrazones derivatives (CPFH, CCPH, and BCPH). Consequently, an excellent complement between the experimental data and the DFT-based results was achieved. The NBO analysis confirmed that the presence of hyper conjugative interactions was pivotal cause for stability of the investigated compounds. The energy gaps in CPFH, CCPH, and BCPH were found as 7.278, 7.241, and 7.229 eV, respectively. Furthermore, global reactivity descriptors were calculated using the FMO energies in which global hardness revealed that CPFH was more stable and less reactive as compared to BCPH and CCPH. NLO findings disclosed that CPFH, CCPH, and BCPH have superior properties as compared to the prototype standard compound, which unveiled their potential applications for optoelectronic technology.

RESUMEN

We report a unique case of a 37-year-old patient, a known case of scleroderma, complaining of bilateral acute visual disturbance, which was diagnosed later on as Purtscher's retinopathy. After systemic assessment, she was diagnosed with bilateral kidney disease, consequently requiring further management accordingly.
