Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze human corneal endothelial cells (HCECs) morphology and ocular biometrics in premature (PM) children with or without retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). Methods: Retrospective data on patient demographics, HCECs status, and ocular biometrics with at least 2 visits between 2016 and 2021 were reviewed. The main outcomes were endothelial cell density (ECD), coefficient of variation (CV), hexagonal cell ratio (HEX), central corneal thickness (CCT), axial length, anterior chamber depth, keratometry, corneal diameter, pupil diameter, and refraction status. Generalized estimating equation was used to evaluate the differences between PM no-ROP and ROP groups. We also analyzed the trend of ECD, CV, HEX, and CCT change with age between groups. Results: The study included 173 PM patients without ROP and 139 patients with ROP. A total of 666 and 544 measurements were recorded in the PM no-ROP and ROP groups, respectively. The ROP group had higher spherical power, myopic spherical equivalent (SE), and steeper steep keratometry (K; P < 0.05). The ROP group had higher CV (P = 0.0144), lower HEX (P = 0.0012) and thicker CCT (P = 0.0035). In the HCECs parameters, the ROP group had slower ECD decrement (P < 0.0001), faster CV decrement (P = 0.0060), and faster HEX increment (P = 0.0001). A difference in corneal morphology changes between the ROP and PM no-ROP groups were prominent in patients with lower gestational age (GA) in the subgroup analysis. Conclusions: Worse HCECs morphology and higher myopic status were initially observed in patients with prior ROP but not in PM patients with no-ROP. ECD and HCECs morphology improved with age, especially in patients with low GA.

Converting CO2 into valuable chemicals via sustainable energy sources is indispensable for human development. Photothermal catalysis combines the high selectivity of photocatalysis and the high yield of thermal catalysis, which is promising for CO2 reduction. However, the present photothermal catalysts suffer from low activity due to their poor light absorption ability and fast recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes. Here, a TiO2@Bi2WO6 heterojunction photocatalyst featuring a hierarchical hollow structure was prepared by an in situ growth method. The visible light absorption and photothermal effect of the TiO2@Bi2WO6 photocatalyst is promoted by a hierarchical hollow structure, while the recombination phenomenon is significantly mitigated due to the construction of the heterojunction interface and the existence of excited Bi(3-x)+ sites. Such a catalyst exhibits excellent photothermal performance with a CO yield of 43.7 µmol h-1 g-1, which is 15 and 4.7 times higher than that of pure Bi2WO6 and that of physically mixed TiO2/Bi2WO6, respectively. An in situ study shows that the pathway for the transformation of CO2 into CO over our TiO2@Bi2WO6 proceeds via two important intermediates, including COO- and COOH-. Our work provides a new idea of excited states for the design and synthesis of highly efficient photothermal catalysts for CO2 conversion.

Catalytic oxidative desulfurization (ODS) using titanium silicate catalysts has emerged as an efficient technique for the complete removal of organosulfur compounds from automotive fuels. However, the precise control of highly accessible and stable-framework Ti active sites remains highly challenging. Here we reveal for the first time by using density functional theory calculations that framework hexa-coordinated Ti (TiO6) species of mesoporous titanium silicates are the most active sites for ODS and lead to a lower-energy pathway of ODS. A novel method to achieve highly accessible and homogeneously distributed framework TiO6 active single sites at the mesoporous surface has been developed. Such surface framework TiO6 species exhibit an exceptional ODS performance. A removal of 920 ppm of benzothiophene is achieved at 60°C in 60 min, which is 1.67 times that of the best catalyst reported so far. For bulky molecules such as 4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene (DMDBT), it takes only 3 min to remove 500 ppm of DMDBT at 60°C with our catalyst, which is five times faster than that with the current best catalyst. Such a catalyst can be easily upscaled and could be used for concrete industrial application in the ODS of bulky organosulfur compounds with minimized energy consumption and high reaction efficiency.

Background: Benefits of Intermittent fasting (IF) on health-related outcomes have been found in a range of randomised controlled trials (RCTs). Our umbrella review aimed to systematically analyze and synthesize the available causal evidence on IF and its impact on specific health-related outcomes while evaluating its evidence quality. Methods: We comprehensively searched the PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane databases (from inception up to 8 January 2024) to identify related systematic reviews and meta-analyses of RCTs investigating the association between IF and human health outcomes. We recalculated the effect sizes for each meta-analysis as mean difference (MD) or standardized mean difference (SMD) with corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Subgroup analyses were performed for populations based on three specific status: diabetes, overweight or obesity, and metabolic syndrome. The quality of systematic reviews was evaluated using A Measurement Tool to Assess Systematic Reviews (AMSTAR), and the certainty of evidence was assessed using the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluations (GRADE) system. This study is registered with PROSPERO (CRD42023382004). Findings: A total of 351 associations from 23 meta-analyses with 34 health outcomes were included in the study. A wide range of outcomes were investigated, including anthropometric measures (n = 155), lipid profiles (n = 83), glycemic profiles (n = 57), circulatory system index (n = 41), appetite (n = 9), and others (n = 6). Twenty-one (91%) meta-analyses with 346 associations were rated as high confidence according to the AMSTAR criteria. The summary effects estimates were significant at p < 0.05 in 103 associations, of which 10 (10%) were supported by high certainty of evidence according to GRADE. Specifically, compared with non-intervention diet in adults with overweight or obesity, IF reduced waist circumference (WC) (MD = -1.02 cm; 95% CI: -1.99 to -0.06; p = 0.038), fat mass (MD = -0.72 kg; 95% CI: -1.32 to -0.12; p = 0.019), fasting insulin (SMD = -0.21; 95% CI: -0.40 to -0.02; p = 0.030), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) (SMD = -0.20; 95% CI: -0.38 to -0.02; p = 0.027), total cholesterol (TC) (SMD = -0.29; 95% CI: -0.48 to -0.10; p = 0.003), and triacylglycerols (TG) (SMD = -0.23; 95% CI: -0.39 to -0.06; p = 0.007), but increased fat free mass (FFM) (MD = 0.98 kg; 95% CI: 0.18-1.78; p = 0.016). Of note, compared with the non-intervention diet, modified alternate-day fasting (MADF) reduced fat mass (MD = -0.70 kg; 95% CI: -1.38 to -0.02; p = 0.044). In people with overweight or obesity, and type 2 diabetes, IF increases high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels compared to continuous energy restriction (CER) (MD = 0.03 mmol/L; 95% CI: 0.01-0.05; p = 0.010). However, IF was less effective at reducing systolic blood pressure (SBP) than a CER diet in adults with overweight or obesity (SMD = 0.21; 95% CI: 0.05-0.36; p = 0.008). Interpretation: Our findings suggest that IF may have beneficial effects on a range of health outcomes for adults with overweight or obesity, compared to CER or non-intervention diet. Specifically, IF may decreased WC, fat mass, LDL-C, TG, TC, fasting insulin, and SBP, while increasing HDL-C and FFM. Notably, it is worth noting that the SBP lowering effect of IF appears to be weaker than that of CER. Background and aims: There is an ongoing debate on whether to advocate reducing ultra-processed food (UPF) in dietary guidelines to control metabolic disease (such as obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus [T2DM]). We aimed to summarize the evidence from systematic reviews with meta-analyses between UPF consumption and metabolic diseases risk, assess the credibility, and verify the robustness of these associations. Methods: We systematically searched PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases from their inception to July 15, 2023, to identify relevant systematic reviews with meta-analyses. We used the random-effects model to evaluate the summary effect size, along with 95% confidence interval and prediction interval. We also assessed heterogeneity, evidence of small-study effects and excess significance bias, and categorized the credibility of each association based on quantitative umbrella review criteria. Additionally, we conducted subgroup and sensitivity analyses to assess the robustness of associations based on continents, study design, dietary assessment methods, definition methods of UPF, population, and units of UPF consumption. Results: Overall, 6 systematic reviews with 13 meta-analyses were included. Three (23.08%) meta-analyses were classified as highly suggestive evidence for meeting the criteria that associations were significant at p < 10-6, had more than 1,000 cases, and presented the largest study with significance at p < 0.05. Among them, the highest UPF consumption quantile was associated with an increased risk of obesity (OR = 1.55, 95% CI: 1.36-1.77) when compared with the lowest UPF consumption quantile. The highest UPF consumption quantile was associated with an increased risk of T2DM (RR = 1.40, 95% CI: 1.23-1.59) when compared with the lowest UPF consumption quantile, and a 10% increase in UPF consumption (% g/d) was associated with an increased risk of T2DM (RR = 1.12, 95% CI: 1.10-1.13). Meanwhile, the robustness of these associations was verified by a series of subgroup and sensitivity analyses. Conclusion: UPF consumption may be a risk factor for several metabolic diseases. However, well-designed studies are still needed to verify our findings in the future.

Excessive emission of CO2 into the atmosphere has severely impacted the global ecological environment. Converting CO2 into valuable chemicals and fuels is of great significance for sustainable development. However, low activity and undesirable selectivity often result from the inherent inertness of CO2. Herein, K- or/and Zn-modified Fe-based catalysts were prepared by an incipient-wetness impregnation method for CO2 hydrogenation via a cascade reaction. The results indicate that K species exist as K2O while Zn species exist as ZnFe2O4. In the CO2 hydrogenation pathway, K2O facilitates the adsorption of CO2 and restrains the adsorption of H2, accelerating the transformation of CO2 into C2-C4 olefins rather than paraffins while Zn species promote the dispersion of Fe species, leading to improved activity. Synergistically, a K- and Zn-modified Fe-based catalyst (2Zn-10K-Fe/Al) shows excellent catalytic CO2 hydrogenation activity, achieving a CO2 conversion of 77% which is 1.8 times that (42%) of the unmodified Fe-based catalyst (Fe/Al). Our catalyst also shows a significantly promoted selectivity to C2-C4 olefins of 17% in comparison with the Fe/Al catalyst (0%). It is envisioned that such a binary effect of elements might contribute to the low-cost and industrial production of Fe-based catalysts for selective CO2 conversion.

Seven new pentasaccharides (1-7), rehmaglupentasaccharides A-G, were isolated from the air-dried roots of Rehmannia glutinosa. Their structures were established from the spectroscopic data obtained and by chemical evidence. The known verbascose (8) and stachyose (9) were also obtained in the current investigation, and the structure of stachyose was unequivocally defined using X-ray diffraction data. Compounds 1-9 were tested for their cytotoxicity against five human tumor cell lines, influence on dopamine receptor activation, and proliferation effects against Lactobacillus reuteri.

BACKGROUND: Anti-IL-5 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) targeting IL-5 or IL-5 R α (including mepolizumab, benralizumab, and reslizumab) are widely used for inflammatory diseases such as asthma, eosinophilia, and polyangiitis. However, real-world data regarding its safety in a large sample population are incomplete. So, we evaluated the safety of anti-IL-5 mAbs by pharmacovigilance analyzes based on related adverse events (AEs) from the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS). METHODS: In disproportionality analysis, four algorithms were employed to detect the signals of anti-IL-5 mAbs from the FAERS between 2016 and 2022. In addition, we also used MYSQL 8.0, Navicat Premium 15, and Microsoft EXCEL 2019 to analyze the signals of anti-IL-5 mAbs systematically. RESULTS: There are 9,476,351 reports collected from the FAERS database, of which 22,174 reports listed anti-IL-5 mAbs as the 'primary suspected (PS)' drug. A total of 59 (20 new signals, mepolizumab) and 62 (19 new signals, benralizumab) significant disproportionality preferred terms (PTs) conforming to the four algorithms were retained synchronously. Finally, we detected that the anti-IL-5 mAbs-induced AEs occurred in 31 organ systems (mepolizumab) and 30 organ systems (benralizumab). For mepolizumab and reslizumab, unexpected and new significant PTs of AEs were found, such as asthmatic crisis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia, COVID-19, pneumothorax, adrenal insufficiency and so on. Notably, the risk signal of asthmatic crisis for mepolizumab was stronger than benralizumab (ROR 108.04 [95%CI, 96.09-121.47] vs 26.83 [95%CI, 18.91-38.06]). Comparing with mepolizumab and benralizumab, we found the proportion of serious adverse events in mepolizumab was both greater than benralizumab in each age group (≤20, 20-65, and ≥ 65). The median onset time of mepolizumab was 280 days (interquartile range [IQR] 1-367 days). CONCLUSION: Analysis of FAERS data identified anti-IL-5 mAbs-associated AEs, and our findings supported continuous clinical monitoring, pharmacovigilance, and further studies of anti-IL-5 mAbs. In addition, clinicians may be more aware of the limitations of use in package inserts of anti-IL-5 mAbs: Not for relief of acute bronchospasm or status asthmaticus. Because of some limitations in the FAERS such as self-reports from patients and other confounding factors, the safety of anti-IL-5 mAbs needed more studies in different dimensions, especially the risk of cancer.

Pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF) is widely recognized as a neuroprotective factor expressed in the retina and has shown therapeutic potential in several retinal diseases. Our study aimed to identify the neuroprotective fragment in PEDF and investigate its protective activity in retinas under ischemia-reperfusion (IR) condition. We synthesized a series of shorter synthetic peptides, 6-mer (Ser93-Gln98) and its d-form variant (6 dS) derived from the 44-mer (Val78-Thr121; a PEDF neurotrophic fragment), to determine their cytoprotective activity in IR injury, which was induced in rat retinas by injection of saline into the anterior chamber to increase the intraocular pressure (IOP) followed by reperfusion. We found the cytoprotective effect of 6-mer on glutamate-treated Neuro-2a cells and tert-butyl hydroperoxide (tBHP)-treated 661W cells were 2.6-fold and 1.5-fold higher than the 44-mer, respectively. The cytoprotective effect was blocked by a chemical inhibitor atglistatin and blocking antibody targeting PEDF receptor (PEDF-R). IR induced several impairments in retina, including cell apoptosis, activation of microglia/macroglia, degeneration of retinal capillaries, reduction in electroretinography (ERG) amplitudes, and retinal atrophy. Such IR injuries were ameliorated by treatment with 6-mer and 6 dS eye drops. Also, the neuroprotective activity of 6-mer and 6 dS in ischemic retinas were dramatically reversed by atglistatin preconditioning. Taken together, our data demonstrate smallest neuroprotective fragment of PEDF has potential to treat retinal degeneration-related diseases.

BACKGROUND: Pertuzumab is widely used for the treatment of HER2 + breast cancer. But its safety in the real world should be continuously monitored. So, we evaluated the safety of pertuzumab by pharmacovigilance analyze based on related adverse events (AEs) from the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) and find whether potential or uncertain adverse events were present. METHODS: In disproportionality analysis, four algorithms were employed to detect the signals of pertuzumab from the FAERS between 2012 and 2022. In addition, we also used MYSQL 8.0, Navicat Premium 15, and Microsoft EXCEL 2019 to analyze the potential and high-ROR (reporting odds ratio) signals of pertuzumab. We also collected the onset times of pertuzumab-associated AEs. RESULTS: From January 2012 to December 2022, there are 39,190,598 AEs reported from the FAERS database, of which 14,707 AEs listed pertuzumab as the 'primary suspected (PS)' drug. A total of 115 (46 potential) significant disproportionality preferred terms (PTs) conforming to the four algorithms were retained. Finally, we detected that the pertuzumab-induced AEs occurred in 12 organ systems. For pertuzumab, unexpected and significant PTs of AEs were found, including but not limited to below PTs: haematotoxicity, cardiotoxicity, cardiomyopathy, mitral valve incompetence, tachycardia, intestinal perforation, hemorrhoids, erysipelas, dehydration, pneumonitis, skin toxicity, onychomadesis, cyanosis, and circulatory collapse. We found there were 9 strong signals (5 potential safety signals) and 68 medium intensity signals (21 potential safety signals) according to IC025 (information component). The potential strong signals (IC025 > 3.0) were myelosuppression, cardiotoxicity, cardiac dysfunction, ejection fraction decreased, interstitial lung disease, and onychomadesis. Excluding unreported or unreasonable onset time reports, a total of 2016 AEs reported onset time and the median onset time was 117 days (4, 96), as median (Q1, Q3). Notably, most of the all AEs (n = 1133, 56%) and cardiac-related events (n = 405, 53%) all occurred within one month after pertuzumab therapy. CONCLUSION: Analysis of FAERS data identified pertuzumab-associated AEs, and our findings supported continuous clinical monitoring, pharmacovigilance, and further studies of pertuzumab. A significant association was detected between pertuzumab and some potential adverse events which should be regarded with some care. We have to pay attention to the first month after pertuzumab therapy and prepare emergency measures, especially for the elderly and patients with cardiovascular diseases.

STUDY QUESTION: Is dietary non-enzymatic antioxidant capacity related to semen quality? SUMMARY ANSWER: The only statistically significant association of semen quality parameters with dietary total antioxidant capacity (DTAC) detected was an inverse association between DTAC and ejaculate volume. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY: Growing interest exists regarding the role of diet in influencing semen quality. While DTAC is linked to favorable health outcomes, its association with semen quality, especially among men attending infertility clinics, remains understudied. STUDY DESIGN SIZE DURATION: This cross-sectional study was carried out between June and December of 2020. In total, 1715 participants were included in the final analysis. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS SETTING METHODS: Men who attended an infertility clinic in China were enrolled. Experienced clinical technicians performed the semen analysis. The DTAC indices included the ferric-reducing ability of plasma, oxygen radical absorbance capacity, total reactive antioxidant potential, and Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity. The quantile regression model was used for multivariate analysis. MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE: After adjustment for a variety of confounding variables, a significant inverse association was identified between DTAC and ejaculate volume (ßcontinuous FRAP = -0.015, 95% CI = -0.023, -0.006, ßT3 vs T1 = -0.193, 95% CI = -0.379, -0.006, Ptrend = 0.007; ßcontinuous TRAP = -0.019, 95% CI = -0.041, 0.002, ßT3 vs T1 = -0.291, 95% CI = -0.469, -0.112, Ptrend = 0.002). The majority of DTAC indices have no statistically significant association with semen quality parameters. LIMITATIONS REASONS FOR CAUTION: We cannot infer causality because of the nature of the cross-sectional study design. The robustness of the conclusion may be compromised by the exactness of non-enzymatic antioxidant capacity estimation. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS: Our findings demonstrated no association between DTAC indices and semen quality parameters among men attending an infertility clinic, except for ejaculate volume. Even though our findings are mostly non-significant, they contribute novel knowledge to the field of study while also laying the groundwork for future well-designed studies. The catalytic oxidative desulfurization (ODS) technique is able to remove sulfur compounds from fuels, conducive to achieving deep desulfurization for the good of the ecological environment. Ti-based metal-organic frameworks (Ti-MOFs) possessing good affinity to organic reactants and considerable numbers of Ti active sites are promising catalysts for ODS. However, current Ti-MOFs suffer from severe diffusion limitations caused by the size mismatch between sole micropores and bulky sulfur compounds, leading to poor ODS performance. Here, a facile method of intraparticle ripening without any additive is developed to obtain hierarchically meso-microporous Ti-MIL-125 single crystals (Meso-Ti-MIL-125) for the first time. Such Meso-Ti-MIL-125 shows a BET surface area of 1401 m2 g-1 and a mesoporous volume that is 1.7 times as high as that of the conventional Ti-MIL-125. Our novel Meso-Ti-MIL-125 exhibits excellent catalytic performance in the ODS of a series of bulky thiophenic sulfur compounds, completely removing benzothiophene (BT), dibenzothiophene (DBT), and 4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene (DMDBT) from model fuels, which is, respectively, 2.4 times, 1.5 times, and 6.7 times higher than the removal achieved with conventional Ti-MIL-125. Such a facile synthetic strategy is envisioned to be applied in many kinds of crystalline materials, such as zeolites, for industrial production.

Hantaviridae currently encompasses seven genera and 53 species. Multiple hantaviruses such as Hantaan virus, Seoul virus, Dobrava-Belgrade virus, Puumala virus, Andes virus, and Sin Nombre virus are highly pathogenic to humans. They cause hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) and hantavirus cardiopulmonary syndrome or hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HCPS/HPS) in many countries. Some hantaviruses infect wild or domestic animals without causing severe symptoms. Rodents, shrews, and bats are reservoirs of various mammalian hantaviruses. Recent years have witnessed significant advancements in the study of hantaviruses including genomics, taxonomy, evolution, replication, transmission, pathogenicity, control, and patient treatment. Additionally, new hantaviruses infecting bats, rodents, shrews, amphibians, and fish have been identified. This review compiles these advancements to aid researchers and the public in better recognizing this zoonotic virus family with global public health significance.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of small noncoding RNAs that are approximately 22 nt in length and regulate gene expression post-transcriptionally. miRNAs play a vital role in both physiological and pathological processes and are regarded as promising biomarkers for cancer, cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, and so on. Accurate detection of miRNA expression level in clinical samples is important for miRNA-guided diagnostics. However, the common miRNA detection approaches like RNA sequencing, qRT-PCR, and miRNA microarray are performed in a professional laboratory with complex intermediate steps and are time-consuming and costly, challenging the miRNA-guided diagnostics. Hence, sensitive, highly specific, rapid, and easy-to-use detection of miRNAs is crucial for clinical diagnosis based on miRNAs. With the advantages of being specific, sensitive, efficient, cost-saving, and easy to operate, point-of-care testing (POCT) has been widely used in the detection of miRNAs. For the first time, we mainly focus on summarizing the research progress in POCT of miRNAs based on portable instruments and visual readout methods. As widely available pocket-size portable instruments and visual detection play important roles in POCT, we provide an all-sided discussion of the principles of these methods and their main limitations and challenges, in order to provide a guide for the development of more accurate, specific, and sensitive POCT methods for miRNA detection.

OBJECTIVE: To explore correlation between femoral mechanical axis and Blumensaat line (FMBL) angle of knee joint (angle between Blumensaat line and femoral mechanical axis), α angle (angle between Blumensaat line and axis of distal femur in sagittal plane) on EOS biplane imaging and non-contact anterior cruciate ligament(ACL) injury, and evaluate angle for its accuracy in predicting the populations prone to non-contact ACL injury. METHODS: From February 2018 to October 2020, EOS imaging and clinical data from 88 patients (176 knees) with unilateral non-contact ACL injury were retrospectively analyzed, including 53 males and 35 females, aged from 18 to 45 years old with an average of (30.3±6.2) years old, 48 patients on the left side and 40 patients on the right side. The patients were divided into ACL-affected group and ACL-health group according to side of ACL injuries, and 51 patients (51 knees) with non-ACL identified from EOS database were included in normal control group, including 28 males and 23 females, aged from 20 to 44 years old with an average of (31.6±5.5) years old, 26 patients on the left side and 25 patients on the right side. Full-length EOS imaging of skeleton extremitatis inferioris among three groups were reconstructed to 3D images of skeletal system with EOS software, and then FMBL angle and α angle were measured on the images. Univariate binary Logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the influence of the univariate(FMBL angle or α angle) on ACL status(normal or torn). And the angle cutoff value for univariate was selected based on receiver operating characteristics curve (ROC) to got the best accuracy. RESULTS: There was no statistically significant difference in age, gender and side distribution between ACL-injured group and normal control group(P>0.05). Statistical analyses (one-way ANOVA) indicated no significant difference in FMBL angle between ACL-injured knee group (32.8±2.3)° and ACL-injured contralateral knee group(32.5±2.3)°(P>0.05), but the values between two groups were significantly lower than that in normal control group (37.0±2.0)°(P<0.001). There was no statistically significant difference in α angle among three groups (P>0.05). Univariate binary Logistic regression analysis demonstrated that FMBL angle was risk factor for non-contact ACL injury[OR=0.433, 95%CI(0.330, 0.569), P<0.001]. The area under ROC curve for FMBL angle was 0.909[95%CI(0.861, 0.958), P<0.001], and the sensitivity and specificity were 70.5% and 98.0% respectively, cut-off value was 33.7°. CONCLUSION: FMBL angle formed by Blumensaat line and femoral mechanical axis is one of the risk factors for non-contact ACL injury and has good predictive accuracy. The general population with FMBL angle below 33.7° may be increased risk for ACL injury.

Distal metastases from breast cancer, especially bone metastases, are extremely common in the late stages of the disease and are associated with a poor prognosis. EMT is a biomarker of the early process of bone metastasis, and MMP-9 and MMP-13 are important osteoclastic activators. Previously, we found that meso-Hannokinol (HA) could significantly inhibit EMT and MMP-9 and MMP-13 expressions in breast cancer cells. On this basis, we further explored the role of HA in breast cancer bone metastasis. In vivo, we established a breast cancer bone metastasis model by intracardially injecting breast cancer cells. Intraperitoneal injections of HA significantly reduced breast cancer cell metastasis to the leg bone in mice and osteolytic lesions caused by breast cancer. In vitro, HA inhibited the migration and invasion of breast cancer cells and suppressed the expressions of EMT, MMP-9, MMP-13, and other osteoclastic activators. HA inhibited EMT and MMP-9 by activating the ROS/JNK pathway as demonstrated by siJNK and SP600125 inhibition of JNK phosphorylation and NAC scavenging of ROS accumulation. Moreover, HA promoted bone formation and inhibited bone resorption in vitro. In conclusion, our findings suggest that HA may be an excellent candidate for treating breast cancer bone metastasis.

For the first time, we demonstrate a Ti-MOF (Ti-metal organic framework) single-crystal featuring an intracrystal macro-microporous hierarchy (Hier-NTU-9) by a vapor-assisted polymer-templated method. This Hier-NTU-9 possesses macropores (100-1000 nm) derived from polymer templates and enhanced transport ability of bulky molecules, exhibiting almost double the desulfurization activity compared to the conventional NTU-9.
