[The features of cardio-respiratory system and autonomic regulation in parasportsmen with spinal injury].

A comprehensive study of the functional state of basketball athletes in wheelchairs with spinal cord injuries in the T6-T10 and paraplegia (n = 9, mean age 26.6 +/- 1.7 years) was held. As a control, we used disability groups with a similar injury, leading an active life (n = 13, mean age 44.5 +/- 2.6 years), athletes ( = 14, mean age 24.6 +/- 1.3 years) and healthy physically active men (n = 15, the average age of 24.9 +/- 0.6 years). In the athletes in wheelchairs it was revealed an increase in the length of the body in a sitting position, the increase in tidal volume and increasing in the effectiveness of the functional respiratory tests. These changes in the state of the musculoskeletal system and autonomic systems to ensure physical activity classified as adaptive and due to sports training. In the state of the cardiovascular system and its autonomic regulation parasportsmen showed a reduction in trauma-induced increase in diastolic blood pressure and increase in the magnitude of arterial baroreflex sensitivity, decreased due to spinal injury. These data indicate availability of compensatory processes aimed at optimizing the cardiovascular system through the mechanisms of baroreflex regulation.

[Cardiac pathology and autonomic dysfunction in patients with vertebral and spinal cord injury].

The disturbances of cardiovascular function were examined in 103 patients with vertebral and spinal cord injury. To evaluate myocardial conduction time and regulation of heart rate we used the method of spiroarteriocardiorythmography. Comparative power spectral and time domain analyses of heart rate variability were carried out in patient and healthy individuals. The autonomic nervous system dysfunction revealed in patients result in severe cardiovascular complications and is associated with high risk of heart diseases.

[Classification of results of studying blood plasma with laser correlation spectroscopy based on semiotics of preclinical and clinical states]. / Klassifikatsiia rezul'tatov issledovaniia plazmy krovi s pomoshch'iu lazernoi korreliatsionnoi spektroskopii na osnove semiotiki predklinicheskikh i klinicheskikh sostoianii.

The usage of laser correlation spectroscopy for verification of preclinical and clinical states is substantiated. Developed "semiotic" classifier for solving the problems of preclinical and clinical states is presented. The substantiation of biological algorithms as well as the mathematical support and software for the proposed classifier for the data of laser correlation spectroscopy of blood plasma are presented.

Using the developed "semiotic" classifier of laser correlation spectra of blood plasma the authors have carried out the verification of organism states of patients from the zone of Chernobyl accident, "Ural radiation trace" and collaborators from Sanct-Petersbourg Institute of Nuclear Physics. An analysis of results obtained using accidental selections which differed as to the character of radiation injury evidences for high informativeness of "semiotic" classifier of laser correlation spectra of blood plasma.

[Erythron system function in adults subjected to radiation exposure as a result of the Chernobyl accident]. / Sostoianie sistemy éritrona u vzroslykh lits, podvergshikhsia radiatsionnomu vozdeistviiu v rezul'tate Chernobyl'skoio avarii.

The morphofunctional state of hemopoiesis in patients who suffered from the Chernobyl accident was investigated. The activation of proliferative activity of erythroid progenitor cells simultaneously with a decrease in the resistance of erythrocytes and an increase in the levels of methemoglobin, HbF, and an increase in the number of HbF-containing cells in peripheral blood were detected. Main trends in the development of adaptative processes in the erythron system as a response to affect of low doses of radiation were determined on cellular and molecular levels.

[Use of laser correlation spectroscopy for recording of changes in the blood serum composition in leukemia in cattle]. / Primenenie lazernoi korreliatsionnoi spektroskopii dlia registratsii izmenenii v sostave syvorotki krovi pri leikoza krupnogo rogatogo skota.

Blood serum of 350 cows with verified leukemia were studied by light scattering technique. Qualitative estimation of the leukemia probability was made using special classification program. This method was shown to have good resolution and to be more quick than traditional diagnostics.

[Characterization of the nuclease-sensitive chromatin regions from N-nitrosodiethylamine-induced hepatoma cells]. / Kharakteristika nukleaza-chuvstvitel'nykh uchastkov khromatina kletok gepatomy, indutsirovannoi N-nitrozodiétilaminom.

Protein-DNA complexes released from chromatin of the intact rat liver and hepatoma induced by N-diethylnitrosamine during nuclease digestion have been subdivided into two groups of high and low molecular weight. Immunoreactive proteins are concentrated mainly in high molecular complexes. Immunoblotting of proteins from the nuclease-sensitive regions of normal and tumor chromatins allow distinguishing antigens of three main types: 1--antigens of nuclease-sensitive samples common both for normal and tumor cells; 2--antigens determined in tumor preparations only; 3--antigens usual for normal samples. Such differences in composition of immunogenic proteins in the nuclease-sensitive regions from the cells of the normal and malignant rat liver may be useful for investigating changes in active chromatin during chemical induction of tumors in animals.

Use of new method--laser correlative spectroscopy--was shown bq the authors to be suitable for diagnosis and prognostication of pathological process in orthopedic and traumatological clinics. The method was demonstrated to be highly informative and objective.

[The level of serum thymic activity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus]. / Uroven' timicheskoi syvorotochnoi aktivnosti u bol'nykh revmatoidnym artritom i sistemnoi krasnoi volchankoi.

Thymic serum activity (TSA) has been studied in 52 healthy subjects, 48 rheumatoid arthritis patients and 17 sufferers with systemic lupus erythematosus aged from 18 to 70. TSA was compared in patients under and over 40 years. In those under 40 TSA appeared significantly inhibited, while in older subjects it did not differ from age-matched control. No correlations were reported between TSA levels and clinical characteristics. Changes in TSA levels may be related both to low content of thymic hormones and formation of inactive complexes from thymic mediators with inhibitors.

[Immunogenic proteins of nuclease-sensitive regions of chromatin of the normal rat liver and N-nitrosodiethylamine-induced hepatoma]. / Immunogennye belki nukleaza-chuvstvitel'nykh oblastei khromatina normal'noi pecheni krys i gepatomy, indutsirovannoi N-nitrozodiétilaminom.

The localization of immunogenic proteins of chromatin in the nuclease-hypersensitive regions was investigated by means of polyclonal antibodies against the total chromatin from cells N-nitrosodiethylamine-induced hepatoma of rats and from hepatocytes. The fractions released after digestion by Ca-dependent endonuclease and by exogenous DNasa-1 were considerably enriched with immunogenic determinants. The enrichment of nuclease-hypersensitive sites of chromatin with tumour-associated antigens was observed in experiments with antihepatoma antibodies preincubated with chromatin from the normal liver cells. Higher immunoreactivity was typical of fractions obtained during Ca-dependent endonuclease segregation of the hepatoma chromatin, while products of digestion by exogenous DNasa-1 possessed higher tumour specificity.

[The levels of circulating immune complexes and immunoglobulins in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis]. / Urovni tsirkuliruiushchikh immunnykh kompleksov i immunoglobulinov u bol'nykh sistemnoi krasnoi volchankoi i revmatoidnym artritom.

UNLABELLED: The authors studied the levels of large- and medium molecular circulating immune complexes (CIC) and immunoglobulins of main classes (Ig) in 17 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and 47 patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). RESULTS: low molecular CIC increased in 35.2% of patients with SLE and in 42.5% with RA; patients with SLE showed a significant reduction of IgA in 80.4%. The IgA/IgM ratio was significantly reduced in SLE due to the above finding. The IgA level remained unchanged in RA.

[Treatment of suppurative-necrotic wounds of the extremities]. / Lechenie gnoino-nekroticheskikh ran konechnostei.

The article discusses the authors' experience in treating pyonecrotic and poorly granulating wounds of the upper and lower extremities in 158 patients; proteolytic enzymes, application of carbohydrate sorbents, and helium-neon laser radiation were used in 66 cases. With such method of treatment, the wounds healed without cutaneoplasty in 75% of cases. In 25% of cases free cutaneoplasty was performed after preparation of the wound surface. The terms of wound healing reduced 1.5-2 times as compared to that in the traditional methods of treatment.

[Possibilities and prospects of multiparameter immunologic examination in the diagnosis and prognosis of rheumatoid arthritis]. / Vozmozhnosti i perspektivy mnogoparametrovogo immunologicheskogo obsledovaniia v diagnostike i prognoze revmatoidnogo artrita.

The authors have analysed data from literature and their own results concerning multiparameter examination of the patients with rheumatoid arthritis. An effort has been made to establish a correlative relationship between changes in the following immunologic values: the level of rheumatoid factor, circulating immune complexes, antibodies to streptolysin-0 and immunoglobulin G; the number of T-lymphocytes and the quantity of natural cells of the killers and the hormone regulatory activity of thymus. Positive interdependence between the presence of rheumatoid factor and that of antibodies to streptolysin-0 as well as an increase in the content of circulating hormone complexes has been determined. In view of absence of one value which is strictly specific and compulsory for rheumatoid arthritis, it is only complex investigation that allows to describe the trends in changes of the immunologic state of the patient with rheumatoid arthritis.

[An actinometric method for comparing the parameters of equipment for the ultraviolet irradiation of the blood]. / Metod aktinometrii dlia sravneniia parametrov apparatov ul'trafioletovogo oblucheniia krovi.

Actinometry of devices for ultraviolet irradiation of blood for the first time. Water solutions of diazonium salts as sensitive materials are used. Outlooks for optimization of above devices are discussed.
