RESUMEN

Pseudomelanosis duodeni is characterized by endoscopic findings of black or black-brown speckled pigmentation in the duodenal mucosa, usually diagnosed via biopsy. This report presents a case of a 75-year-old male presented with left lower abdominal pain, change in bowel habits, and decreased appetite. Gastroduodenoscopy and biopsies of the duodenum and antrum lead to the diagnosis of pseudomelanosis duodeni.

RESUMEN

A green one pot three component [3 + 2] cycloaddition of a thiazolo[3,2-a]indole derivative (generated by the reaction of thieno[2,3-b]indole-2,3-dione and dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate) with isatin derived azomethine ylides is reported here. An eco-friendly acetyl choline iodide-ethylene glycol (ACI/EG)-mediated deep eutectic solvent system was adopted for the reaction. Spiropyrrolidine oxindoles incorporating multiple stereocenters were obtained in a highly diastereoselective manner in excellent yields.

RESUMEN

A 61-year-old man, with an 8-year history of ulcerative colitis, presented with bleeding per rectum for 4 weeks' duration. Colonoscopy revealed polypoidal neoplasm at the rectosigmoid junction. Histopathology depicted small cell carcinoma. On immunohistochemical staining, chromogranin A and synaptophysin were positive. The tumour was diagnosed as undifferentiated small cell carcinoma, which is unusual since generally it is the adenocarcinoma that occurs on a background of ulcerative colitis and there are only three previous reports of small cell carcinoma occurring in UC.
