RESUMEN

Motor neurons are highly polarized, and their axons extend over great distances to form connections with myofibers via neuromuscular junctions (NMJs). Local translation at the NMJs in vivo has not been identified. Here, we utilized motor neuron-labeled RiboTag mice and the TRAP (translating ribosome affinity purification) technique to spatiotemporally profile the translatome at NMJs. We found that mRNAs associated with glucose catabolism, synaptic connection, and protein homeostasis are enriched at presynapses. Local translation at the synapse shifts from the assembly of cytoskeletal components during early developmental stages to energy production in adulthood. The mRNA of neuronal Agrin (Agrn), the key molecule for NMJ assembly, is present at motor axon terminals and locally translated. Disrupting the axonal location of Agrn mRNA causes impairment of synaptic transmission and motor functions in adult mice. Our findings indicate that spatiotemporal regulation of mRNA local translation at NMJs plays critical roles in synaptic transmission and motor functions in vivo.

RESUMEN

INTRODUCTION: Smoking significantly burdens human health, contributing to an increasing incidence of mortality and morbidity. This study aims to explore the prevalence of smoking, cessation, and the association between various risk factors and smoking intensity measured in pack-years among Chinese adults. METHODS: During 2020-2021, the China Stroke High-risk Population Screening and Intervention Program (CSHPSIP) invited participants aged ≥40 years from 31 provinces in mainland China. This cross-sectional study presents the standardized prevalence of smoking and cessation across various demographics, including age, sex, residence, income, education level, BMI, and geographical region of residence. Multivariable logistic regression was used to examine the associations between smoking pack-years and related factors. RESULTS: Among 524741 participants (mean age: 61.9 ± 10.9 years; 41.1% male; 58.9% female), standardized smoking prevalence was 19.3% (95% CI: 19.2-19.4), with men (37.2%; 95% CI: 37.0-37.4) displaying significantly higher rates than women (1.3%; 95% CI: 1.2-1.3). Smoking cessation rate stood at 11.2% (95% CI: 11.0-11.4), with 11.3% (95% CI: 11.1-11.5) for men and 8.4% (95% CI: 7.5-9.2) for women. Urban residents and those with advanced education had lower smoking rates and higher cessation rates. Additionally, the dose-response relationship indicated a more pronounced association between higher smoking pack-years and elevated health risks, including hypertension (AOR=1.30; 95% CI: 1.24-1.36), diabetes (AOR=1.26; 95% CI: 1.20-1.33), hyperlipidemia (AOR=1.22; 95% CI: 1.16-1.28), heart disease (AOR=1.40; 95% CI: 1.26-1.54), and stroke (AOR=1.23; 95% CI: 1.10-1.36). CONCLUSIONS: This comprehensive study emphasizes the profound impact of smoking on health in Chinese adults, indicating the critical need for tailored cessation programs, particularly for middle-aged individuals, men, rural residents, and those with lower level of education.

RESUMEN

Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) launched the "4+4" Medical Doctor (MD) pilot program in 2018, admitting students with non-medical backgrounds from top universities, aligning with national medical talent training policies to foster diverse and eager learners in medicine. On the occasion of the graduation of the first class of the "4+4" MD pilot class at PUMC in 2023, we reviewed the teaching reform in the pilot program and carried out a systematic survey and interviews with students, faculties, and management staff of the pilot class. This article reports on the measures taken by the pilot class at PUMC in enrollment and curriculum setting, and demonstrates the achievements of the pilot class in terms of student academic background structure, knowledge acquisition and skill learning, scientific research ability, and course evaluation. The results indicated that the pilot class had met the national demand for the "Medicine + X" talent training model. More specifically, with a diverse academic backgrounds, the pilot class graduates had academic levels comparable to the eight-year medical education graduates, and their scientific research abilities were satisfactory. The pilot program at PUMC will optimize the curriculum setting, strengthen the construction of faculty, learning resources, and teaching facilities, and reform the academic evaluation methods, thus deepening the reform of medical education and improving the "4+4" MD program as a novel medical education model.

RESUMEN

Eight previously undescribed diterpenoids, caesamins A-H (1-8), were separated and identified from the seeds of Caesalpinia minax Hance. Their structures were characterized by extensive spectroscopic data and X-ray crystallographic analysis. Structurally, caesamin A (1) is the first cassane-type diterpenoid with a C23 carbon skeleton containing an unusual isopropyl. Caesamin F (6) represents the first example of cleistanthane diterpenoid from the genus Caesalpinia. Caesamins B (2) and F (6) exhibited inhibitory activity against LPS-induced nitric oxide production in RAW 264.7 macrophages with IC50 values of 45.67 ± 0.92 and 42.99 ± 0.24 µM, comparable to positive control 43.69 ± 2.62 µM of NG-Monomethyl-L-arginine. Furthermore, the chemotaxonomic significance of the isolates was discussed.

RESUMEN

The use of virus-neutralizing (VN) and nonstructural protein (NSP) antibody tests in a serosurveillance program for foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) can identify pig herds that are adequately vaccinated, with a high percentage of pigs with VN positive antibody titers; these tests can also help identify pigs with NSP-positivity that have previously been or are currently infected even in vaccinated herds. To identify infected herds and manage infection, the combination of VN and NSP antibody tests was used in Taiwan's serosurveillance program implemented simultaneously with the compulsory FMD vaccination program. The result was the eradication of FMD: Taiwan was recognized by the World Organization for Animal Health as an FMD-free country without vaccination in 2020. Evaluation of the compulsory vaccination program incorporated in the FMD control program in Taiwan revealed that the vaccine quality was satisfactory and the vaccination program was effective during the period of compulsory vaccination (2010-2017). Sound immunological coverage was achieved, with 89.1% of pigs having VN antibody titers exceeding 1:16 in 2016. This level of immunological coverage would be expected to substantially reduce or prevent FMD transmission, which was borne out by the results of the NSP tests. We identified farms having positive NSP reactors (very low annual prevalence) before the cessation of FMD vaccination in July 2018; however, detailed serological and clinical investigations of pigs of all ages in suspect herds demonstrated that no farms were harboring infected animals after the second half of 2013. Thus, the results revealed no evidence of FMD circulation in the field, and Taiwan regained FMD-free status.

RESUMEN

In Taiwan, the number of applications for inspecting imported food has grown annually and noncompliant products must be accurately detected in these border sampling inspections. Previously, border management has used an automated border inspection system (import food inspection (IFI) system) to select batches via a random sampling method to manage the risk levels of various food products complying with regulatory inspection procedures. Several countries have implemented artificial intelligence (AI) technology to improve domestic governmental processes, social service, and public feedback. AI technologies are applied in border inspection by the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA). Risk management of border inspections is conducted using the Border Prediction Intelligent (BPI) system. The risk levels are analyzed on based on the noncompliance records of imported food, the country of origin, and international food safety alerts. The subjects of this study were frozen fish products, which have been under surveillance by the BPI system. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relevance between the noncompliant trend of frozen fish products using the adoption of the BPI system and the results of postmarket sampling inspections. The border inspection and postmarket sampling data were divided into two groups: IFI and BPI groups (corresponding to before and after the adoption of the BPI system, respectively). The Chi-square test was employed to analyze the noncompliant differences in products between before and after the BPI system adoption. Despite the number of noncompliance batches being statistically insignificant after the adoption of the BPI system, the noncompliance rate of frozen fish products at the border increased from 3.0% to 4.7%. Meanwhile, the noncompliance rate in the postmarket decreased from 2.1% to 1.9%. The results indicate that the BPI system improves the effectiveness of interception of noncompliant products at the border, thereby preventing the entrance of noncompliant products to the postmarket. The variables were further classified and organized according to the scope of this study and product characteristics. Furthermore, ordinal logistic regression (OLR) was employed to determine the correlations among border, postmarket, and major influencing factors. Based on the analysis of major influencing factors, small fish and fish internal organ products exhibited significantly high risk for fish body type and product type, respectively. The BPI system effectively utilizes the large amount of data accumulated from border inspections over the years. Additionally, real-time information on bilateral data obtained from the border and postmarket should be bidirectionally shared for effectively intercepting noncompliance products and used for improving the border management efficiency.

RESUMEN

Studies suggest that mangiferin (MAF) has good therapeutic effects on chronic bronchitis and hepatitis. Also, it is one of the antiviral ingredients in Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bunge. However, its effect on the LPS-induced inflammation and intestinal flora during sepsis remains unclear yet. In the present study, LPS-stimulated inflammation RAW264.7 cells and LPS-induced sepsis mice were used to evaluate the efficacy of MAF in vitro and in vivo. 16S rDNA sequencing was performed to analyze the characteristics of intestinal flora of the sepsis mice. It has been demonstrated that MAF (12.5 and 25 µg/mL) significantly inhibited protein expressions of TLR4, MyD88, NF-κB, and TNF-α in the LPS-treated cells and reduced the supernatant TNF-α and IL-6 levels. In vivo, MAF (20 mg/kg) markedly protected the sepsis mice and reduced the serum TNF-α and IL-6 levels. Also, MAF significantly downregulated the protein expressions of TLR4, NF-κB, and MyD88 in the livers. Importantly, MAF significantly attenuated the pathological injuries of the livers and small intestines. Further, MAF significantly increased proportion of Bacteroidota and decreased the proportions of Firmicutes, Desulfobacterota, Actinobacteriota, and Proteobacteria at phylum level, and it markedly reduced the proportions of Escherichia-Shigella, Pseudoalteromonas, Staphylococcus at genus level. Moreover, MAF affects some metabolism-related pathways such as citrate cycle (TCA cycle), lipoic acid metabolism, oxidative phosphorylation, bacterial chemotaxis, fatty acid biosynthesis, and peptidoglycan biosynthesis of the intestinal flora. Thus, it can be concluded that MAF as a treatment reduces the inflammatory responses in vitro and in vivo by inhibiting the TLR4/ MyD88/NF-κB pathway, and corrects intestinal flora imbalance during sepsis to some degree.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Computed tomography (CT) plays a great role in characterizing and quantifying changes in lung structure and function of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This study aimed to explore the performance of CT-based whole lung radiomic in discriminating COPD patients and non-COPD patients. METHODS: This retrospective study was performed on 2785 patients who underwent pulmonary function examination in 5 hospitals and were divided into non-COPD group and COPD group. The radiomic features of the whole lung volume were extracted. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) logistic regression was applied for feature selection and radiomic signature construction. A radiomic nomogram was established by combining the radiomic score and clinical factors. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis and decision curve analysis (DCA) were used to evaluate the predictive performance of the radiomic nomogram in the training, internal validation, and independent external validation cohorts. RESULTS: Eighteen radiomic features were collected from the whole lung volume to construct a radiomic model. The area under the curve (AUC) of the radiomic model in the training, internal, and independent external validation cohorts were 0.888 [95% confidence interval (CI) 0.869-0.906], 0.874 (95%CI 0.844-0.904) and 0.846 (95%CI 0.822-0.870), respectively. All were higher than the clinical model (AUC were 0.732, 0.714, and 0.777, respectively, P < 0.001). DCA demonstrated that the nomogram constructed by combining radiomic score, age, sex, height, and smoking status was superior to the clinical factor model. CONCLUSIONS: The intuitive nomogram constructed by CT-based whole-lung radiomic has shown good performance and high accuracy in identifying COPD in this multicenter study.

RESUMEN

AIM: The objective of this study is to evaluate the mean body mass index (BMI), general obesity and abdominal obesity in adults aged ≥40 years residing in China in 2020, and to analyse variations in these factors across different geographic areas and subpopulations. METHODS: We utilized data from the National Stroke High-Risk Population Screening programme to calculate and compare the mean BMI and prevalence of obesity across various demographics, including sex, age, urban-rural locality, geographical region (province) and ethnicity status. RESULTS: In our study, we found that the standardized mean BMI level was 24.65 kg/m2 [95% confidence interval (CI): 24.50-22.84] in men and 24.31 kg/m2 (95% CI: 24.15-24.45) in women. Using the criteria from China, we found that the standardized prevalence of general obesity and abdominal obesity was 13.13% (95% CI: 13.05-13.21%) and 33.03% (95 CI: 32.92-33.14%), respectively. Our study also identified significant effects of age, sex, urban-rural locality, province and ethnicity status on the prevalence of obesity. Overall, our study estimated that in 2020, approximately 91.1 million adults aged ≥40 years in China were obese (46.5 million men and 44.6 million women), while 229.2 million adults (110.4 million men and 118.8 million women) were diagnosed with abdominal obesity. CONCLUSION: Our research has revealed compelling new evidence about the obesity epidemic among Chinese adults aged ≥40 years, particularly at the provincial and ethnic levels. As a result, more targeted and effective prevention strategies should be developed to alleviate the burden of obesity.

RESUMEN

AIM: This study is to investigate the current status of knowledge, attitude and self-reported practice in hospice care among nurses in Hainan, China, and then to analyse its influencing factors and mediating effects. This provides a basis for formulating scientific and standardized hospice care training programmes for nurses. METHODS: This cross-sectional study investigated knowledge, attitude and self-reported practice in hospice care among 1819 nurses in Hainan, China. Convenience sampling was used to select participants from 45 hospitals and nursing homes in 14 cities and counties from October to December 2021. A scale of knowledge, attitude and self-reported practice of healthcare providers in hospice care (Chinese version) was administered to collect data during the study period. Statistical analyses, including t-tests, one-way ANOVA, post-hoc analysis and multiple linear regression, assessed the status of knowledge, attitude and self-reported practice of hospice care in nurses and identified influencing factors. The PROCESS macro program model 4.0 was employed to explore the mediating effect of attitude on knowledge and self-reported practice in hospice care. RESULTS: Nurses in Hainan displayed low knowledge (mean = 7.68, SD = 3.53), moderate attitudes (mean = 88.13, SD = 12.10) and self-reported practice (mean = 51.81, SD = 9.82) in hospice care. Current employment and willingness to engage in hospice care were significant factors influencing knowledge, attitude and self-reported practice in hospice care. Attitude partially mediated the relationship between knowledge and self-reported practice. PATIENT OR PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION: This study focuses on nurses' knowledge, attitude and self-reported practice in hospice care and does not directly involve patients or the public. However, the findings enhance hospice care provided to patients and the broader community by improving nurses' knowledge and skills. This study informs evidence-based training programmes and interventions, benefiting those in need of hospice care services.

RESUMEN

INTRODUCTION: This study aimed to evaluate recent trends in physical inactivity prevalence by sociodemographic characteristics and the province of China's residence between 2013 and 2019. METHODS: The study included 4,229,616 participants 40 yr or older from 414 geographically defined localities in China during the 7-yr period. Self-reported total physical inactivity was collected to determine the standardized prevalence of physical inactivity. Logistic regression analysis was used to examine the association between physical inactivity and stroke risk, obtaining odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI). RESULTS: Results showed that the standardized prevalence of physical inactivity increased from 22.12% (95% CI = 21.99%-22.45%) in 2013 to 28.79% (95% CI = 28.48%-29.19%) in 2019, with an absolute difference of 6.67% (95% CI = 6.15% to 7.16%) and a yearly increase rate of 5.03% (95% CI = 4.85% to 5.21%). In 2019, physical inactivity was higher in female and rural participants (female = 29.55%, rural = 29.46%) than in male and urban participants (male = 28.03%, urban = 28.26%). The prevalence of physical inactivity also varied by race/ethnic groups, with the highest prevalence observed among Uyghur (47.21%) and the lowest among Yizu (14.84%). Additionally, the prevalence of physical inactivity differed by province, ranging from 14.44% in Beijing to 50.09% in Tianjin in 2019. Multivariate analyses showed that physical inactivity was associated with a higher risk of stroke (OR = 1.17, 95% CI = 1.12-1.21, P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, our study found an overall increase in physical inactivity prevalence among Chinese adults ≥40 yr old from 2013 to 2019, with significant variation across regions, sex, ages, and race/ethnic groups.

RESUMEN

Applying solar energy into energy storage battery systems is challenging in achieving green and sustainable development, however, the efficient progress of photo-assisted metal-air batteries is restricted by the rapid recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes upon the photocathode. Herein, a 1D-ordered MoS2 nanotube (MoS2-ONT) with confined mass transfer can be used to extend the lifetime of photogenerated carriers, which is capable of overcoming the challenge of rapid recombination of electron and holes. The tubular confined space cannot only promote the orderly separation and migration of charge carriers but also realize the accumulation of charge and the rapid activation of oxygen molecules. The concave surface of MoS2-ONT can improve the carrier separation ability and prolong the carrier lifetime. Meanwhile, the ordered tubular confined space can effectively realize the rapid transfer of charge, ion, and oxygen. Under light irradiation, a fast oxygen reduction reaction kinetics of 70 mW cm-2 for photo-assisted Zn-air battery is achieved, which is the highest value reported for photo-assisted Zn-air batteries. Significantly, the photo-assisted Li-O2 battery based on MoS2-ONT also shows superior rate capability and other exciting battery performance. This work shows the universality of the confined carrier separation strategy in photo-assisted metal-air batteries.

RESUMEN

Two new prostaglandin-like compounds callicarboric acids A-B (1-2), along with six known compounds (3-8) were isolated from the stems of Callicarpa arborea Roxb. Their structures were determined with the help of modern spectroscopic techniques such as NMR, UV, IR, HR-ESI-MS, ECD, and ORD with the assistance of quantum chemical calculations. Compound 1 exhibited remarkable anti-NLRP3 inflammasome activation potential, demonstrating an IC50 value of 0.74 µM. Additionally, by reducing GSDMD-NT production, inhibiting caspase-1 activation, and suppressing IL-1ß secretion, it effectively mitigated NLRP3 inflammasome-induced pyroptosis in J774A.1 cells. These findings indicate that compound 1 possesses the capability to be a valuable candidate for further research and development as an NLRP3 inflammasome inhibitor.

RESUMEN

Three new compounds callicarpenoids A-C (1-3), were isolated from the stems of Callicarpa arborea Roxb together with fifteen known compounds (4-18). The structures of these compounds were elucidated using advanced spectroscopic techniques, including 1D and 2D NMR, UV, IR, HR-ESI-MS, ECD, ORD, and quantum chemical calculations. Compound 3, a rare rearranged diterpenoid with a fused 5/6-ring system demonstrated strong potential as an inhibitor of the NLRP3 inflammasome activation with an IC50 value of 3.153 µM. It effectively reduced GSDMD-NT production, inhibited caspase-1 activation, and suppressed IL-1ß secretion, thereby mitigating NLRP3 inflammasome-induced pyroptosis in J774A.1 cells. These findings suggest that compound 3 warrants further research and development as a promising NLRP3 inflammasome inhibitor.

RESUMEN

Eleven diterpenoids, wulfenioidins D-N (1-11), classified into five distinct carbon skeletons with one unreported framework, and four modified abietane diterpenoids were isolated from the whole plant of Orthosiphon wulfenioides. The structures and absolute configurations were characterized by spectroscopic methods, single-crystal X-ray diffraction, and electronic circular dichroism analyses. Compounds 3 and 5 exhibited activity against Zika virus (ZIKV) with EC50 values of 8.07 and 8.50 µM, respectively, and showed no significant cytotoxicity toward Vero cells at 100 µM. Western blot and immunofluorescence experiments showed that compounds 3 and 5 interfered with the replication of the ZIKV by inhibiting the expression of the ZIKV envelope (E) protein.

RESUMEN

Objective: Pain, stress, and diabetes mellitus (DM) are common complaints for Guatemalans seeking health care. Because acupuncture therapy (AT) is a low-cost, effective treatment for these concerns, it was offered to Guatemalans during a health care mission as an adjunct to primary care. The purpose of this study was to gather feedback about providing AT in this context and to describe the lessons that were learned. Materials and Methods: A pretest single-arm exploratory study design was used, collecting demographic data and administering a pretest to patients referred for AT. Patients received AT according to presenting symptoms, except patients with DM, who were treated with a previously developed auricular AT protocol. After AT, all patients received adhesive seeds for self-administered auricular acupressure, along with a printed diagram, showing where and how to apply them, and a symptom-tracking form. Results: AT was given to 11 patients (1 had DM; 10 did not). Most were female (9; 82%), older (average 59.27 years; range: 40-81 years), and had little education (average 4 years; range: 0-12 years). Complaints were pain (11; 100%), insomnia (6; 55%), anxiety (4; 36%), depression (7; 64%), and stress (3; 27%). More than 50% had seen health care providers (6; 55%). One person had AT previously and 3 people requested more information about AT before receiving it. Conclusions: Reporting high symptom burdens, most patients were unfamiliar with AT. AT ceased when the licensed acupuncturist contracted COVID. Patients will be followed in 2023 and AT will be given to collect data on feasibility, satisfaction, and possible implementation.

RESUMEN

Since 2015, stroke has become the leading cause of death and disability in China, posing a significant threat to the health of its citizens as a major chronic non-communicable disease. According to the China Stroke High-risk Population Screening and Intervention Program, an estimated 17.8 million [95% confidence interval (CI) 17.6-18.0 million] adults in China had experienced a stroke in 2020, with 3.4 million (95% CI 3.3-3.5 million) experiencing their first-ever stroke and another 2.3 million (95% CI 2.2-2.4 million) dying as a result. Additionally, approximately 12.5% (95% CI 12.4-12.5%) of stroke survivors were left disabled, as defined by a modified Rankin Scale score greater than 1, equating to 2.2 million (95% CI 2.1-2.2 million) stroke-related disabilities in 2020. As the population ages and the prevalence of risk factors like diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia continues to rise and remains poorly controlled, the burden of stroke in China is also increasing. A large national epidemiological survey initiated by the China Hypertension League in 2017 showed that the prevalence of hypertension was 24.7%; the awareness, treatment, and control rates in hypertensive patients were: 60.1%, 42.5%, and 25.4%, respectively. A nationally representative sample of the Chinese mainland population showed that the weighted prevalence of total diabetes diagnosed by the American Diabetes Association criteria was 12.8%, suggesting there are 120 million adults with diabetes in China, and the awareness, treatment, and control rates in diabetic patients were: 43.3%, 49.0%, and 49.4%, respectively. The "Sixth National Health Service Statistical Survey Report in 2018" showed that the proportion of the obese population in China was 37.4%, an increase of 7.2 points from 2013. Data from 1599 hospitals in the Hospital Quality Monitoring System and Bigdata Observatory Platform for Stroke of China (BOSC) showed that a total of 3,418,432 stroke cases [mean age ± standard error (SE) was (65.700 ± 0.006) years, and 59.1% were male] were admitted during 2020. Of those, over 80% (81.9%) were ischemic stroke (IS), 14.9% were intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) strokes, and 3.1% were subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) strokes. The mean ± SE of hospitalization expenditures was Chinese Yuan (CNY) (16,975.6 ± 16.3), ranging from (13,310.1 ± 12.8) in IS to (81,369.8 ± 260.7) in SAH, and out-of-pocket expenses were (5788.9 ± 8.6), ranging from (4449.0 ± 6.6) in IS to (30,778.2 ± 156.8) in SAH. It was estimated that the medical cost of hospitalization for stroke in 2020 was CNY 58.0 billion, of which the patient pays approximately CNY 19.8 billion. In-hospital death/discharge against medical advice rate was 9.2% (95% CI 9.2-9.2%), ranging from 6.4% (95% CI 6.4-6.5%) for IS to 21.8% for ICH (95% CI 21.8-21.9%). From 2019 to 2020, the information about 188,648 patients with acute IS receiving intravenous thrombolytic therapy (IVT), 49,845 patients receiving mechanical thrombectomy (MT), and 14,087 patients receiving bridging (IVT + MT) were collected through BOSC. The incidence of intracranial hemorrhage during treatment was 3.2% (95% CI 3.2-3.3%), 7.7% (95% CI 7.5-8.0%), and 12.9% (95% CI 12.3-13.4%), respectively. And in-hospital death/discharge against medical advice rate was 8.9% (95% CI 8.8-9.0%), 16.5% (95% CI 16.2-16.9%), and 16.8% (95% CI 16.2-17.4%), respectively. A prospective nationwide hospital-based study was conducted at 231 stroke base hospitals (Level III) from 31 provinces in China through BOSC from January 2019 to December 2020 and 136,282 stroke patients were included and finished 12-month follow-up. Of those, over 86.9% were IS, 10.8% were ICH strokes, and 2.3% were SAH strokes. The disability rate [% (95% CI)] in survivors of stroke at 3-month and 12-month was 14.8% (95% CI 14.6-15.0%) and 14.0% (95% CI 13.8-14.2%), respectively. The mortality rate [% (95% CI)] of stroke at 3-month and 12-month was 4.2% (95% CI 4.1-4.3%) and 8.5% (95% CI 8.4-8.6%), respectively. The recurrence rate [% (95% CI)] of stroke at 3-month and 12-month was 3.6% (95% CI 3.5-3.7%) and 5.6% (95% CI 5.4-5.7%), respectively. The Healthy China 2030 Stroke Action Plan was launched as part of this review, and the above data provide valuable guidelines for future stroke prevention and treatment efforts in China.
