RESUMEN

Gliomas are the most common primary intracranial tumors in adults, among which high-grade glioma patients are characterized by short survival and poor prognosis. The diagnosis, treatment, evaluation of effective treatments, and prognosis prediction of high-grade gliomas are of great significance for improving patient survival. Conventional enhanced magnetic resonance imaging has deficiencies in delineating tumor extent, identifying tumor progression and treatment-related changes. Therefore, there is a broad consensus to incorporate amino acid PET, and 18F-FET PET inparticular, into the diagnostic and therapeutic process of high-grade gliomas. In this article, we review the new research progress of 18F-FET PET in the diagnosis and treatment of adult high-grade glioma in recent years.

RESUMEN

AIM: To evaluate the pathogenic variants of the SCO2(OMIM 604272)gene in patients with high myopia from Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of China.METHODS: A total of 384 patients with high myopia whose spherical refractive error was ≤ -6.00 D and whose axial length was ≥26.00 mm in at least one eye were recruited. DNA was extracted by the phenol-chloroform method from 5 mL of peripheral venous blood. Sanger sequencing was performed to identify pathogenic variants in exon 2 of SCO2. The detected variants were evaluated via in silico prediction software. A total of 288 people from the same district were included as the normal control cohort.RESULTS: Seven variants were detected, namely, four synonymous variants(c.201C>T/p.=, c.576C>T/p.=, c.633A>C/p.=, c.780T>C/p.=.), two missense variants(c.187A>G/p.Ile63Val, c.59G>C/p.Arg20Pro)and one nonsense variant(c.544C>T/p.Gln182*). The two missense variants were not damaging, as predicted by PolyPhen2, SIFT and Provean. The novel nonsense variant(c.544C>T/p.Gln182*)cannot be found in the 1000 Genomes Project and was not identified in 288 normal controls. Variant Taster suggested that the nonsense variant site was conserved.CONCLUSION: The newly identified nonsense mutation may be responsible for high myopia of the patients in our cohort. SCO2 is associated with high myopia, while the incidence of SCO2 variants in high myopia in this cohort was as low as 1/384; the nonsense mutation may be a scarce variant of high myopia in the Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of China.

RESUMEN

A novel endophytic actinobacterial strain, designated MQZ13P-5T, was isolated from a piece of bark of Sonneratia apetala, collected from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. This strain was Gram-stain positive, aerobic, non-spore-forming, non-motile and rod-shaped. Comparative 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that strain MQZ13P-5T was related to the genus Phycicoccus with exhibiting the highest similarity (98.0%) to Phycicoccus endophyticus IP6SC6T. The phylogenetic trees based on 16S rRNA gene sequences and core genes indicated that strain MQZ13P-5T belonged to the genus Phycicoccus and could not be assigned to any described species. The average nucleotide identity (ANI) and digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) values between strain MQZ13P-5T and type strains of Phycicoccus species were less than 84% and 27%, respectively, below the thresholds for species delineation. This strain showed chemotaxonomic and phenotypic properties consistent with its classification in the genus Phycicoccus. Based on the taxonomic data, strain MQZ13P-5T should represent a novel species of the genus Phycicoccus, for which the name Phycicoccus sonneraticus sp. nov. is proposed, with the type strain MQZ13P-5T (= CGMCC 1.18744T = JCM 34337T).

RESUMEN

A novel Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, non-flagellated and rod-shaped actinobacterium, designated 10F1B-8-1T, was isolated from mangrove soil sampled at Futian Mangrove Nature Reserve, China. The isolate was able to grow at 10-40 °C (optimum 30-32 °C), at pH 6-8 (optimum 7) and in the presence of 0-6% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 0%). Strain 10F1B-8-1T shared the highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity to Protaetiibacter larvae NBRC 113051T (98.3%), followed by Protaetiibacter intestinalis NBRC 113050T (98.2%). Phylogenetic trees based on 16S rRNA gene sequences and the core proteomes exhibited that strain 10F1B-8-1T formed a new phyletic line in the clade of genus Protaetiibacter, indicating that this strain belonged to the genus Protaetiibacter. Strain 10F1B-8-1T showed low average nucleotide identity (<84%) and digital DNA-DNA hybridization values (<27%) with closely related taxa, suggesting that strain 10F1B-8-1T was a hitherto undescribed species of the genus Protaetiibacter. Strain 10F1B-8-1T contained D-2,4-diaminobutyric acid as the diagnostic diamino acid, and the peptidoglycan type was characterized as type B2ß. The major fatty acids were iso-C16:0, anteiso-C15:0 and anteiso-C17:0. The major menaquinones were MK-13 and MK-14. The polar lipid profile included diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, an unidentified glycolipid and five unidentified lipids. Notably, the ethyl acetate extracts of strain 10F1B-8-1T showed effective antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis CPCC 100029 and Escherichia coli △tolC. According to the polyphasic data, strain 10F1B-8-1T should be classified as a novel species of the genus Protaetiibacter, for which the name Protaetiibacter mangrovi sp. nov. is proposed, with the type strain 10F1B-8-1T (=JCM 33142T = CPCC 205428T).

RESUMEN

Two novel strains GSK1Z-4-2T and MQZ15Z-1 were isolated from branches of mangrove plants collected from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. Both strains were Gram-negative, aerobic, non-flagellated and non-spore-forming bacteria. The comparison of 16S rRNA gene sequences initially indicated that the two strains were assigned to the genus Ancylobacter with sharing the highest similarity to Ancylobacter pratisalsi DSM 102029T (97.3%). The 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity, average nucleotide identity (ANI) and in silico DNA-DNA hybridization (isDDH) values between strains GSK1Z-4-2T and MQZ15Z-1 were 99.9%, 97.4% and 77.4%, respectively, which revealed that the two strains belonged to the same species. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences and the core proteome showed that the two strains formed a well-supported cluster with A. pratisalsi DSM 102029T. Moreover, the ANI and isDDH values between strain GSK1Z-4-2T and A. pratisalsi DSM 102029T were 83.0% and 25.8%, respectively, demonstrating that strain GSK1Z-4-2T was a previously undescribed species. Meanwhile, strains GSK1Z-4-2T and MQZ15Z-1 exhibited most of chemotaxonomic and phenotypic features consistent with the description of the genus Ancylobacter. Based on the polyphasic data, strains GSK1Z-4-2T and MQZ15Z-1 should represent a novel species of the genus Ancylobacter, for which the name Ancylobacter mangrovi sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is GSK1Z-4-2T (=MCCC 1K07181T = JCM 34924T).

RESUMEN

Strains BSK12Z-3T and BSK12Z-4, two Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, non-spore-forming strains, were isolated from Shankou Mangrove Nature Reserve, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. The diagnostic diamino acid in the cell-wall peptidoglycan of strain BSK12Z-3T was LL-diaminopimelic acid and MK-8(H4) was the predominant menaquinone. The polar lipids comprised diphosphatidylglycerol (DPG), phosphatidylglycerol (PG) and phospholipid (PL). The major fatty acids was iso-C16:0. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences suggested that the two strains fell within the genus Nocardioides, appearing most closely related to Nocardioides ginkgobilobae KCTC 39594T (97.5-97.6 % sequence similarity) and Nocardioides marinus DSM 18248T (97.4-97.6 %). Genome-based phylogenetic analysis confirmed that strains BSK12Z-3T and BSK12Z-4 formed a distinct phylogenetic cluster within the genus Nocardioides. The average nucleotide identity (ANI) and digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) values of strains BSK12Z-3T, BSK12Z-4 with their most related species N. marinus DSM18248T were within the ranges of 77.2-77.3 % and 21.3-21.4 %, respectively, clearly indicated that strains BSK12Z-3T, BSK12Z-4 represented novel species. Strains BSK12Z-3T and BSK12Z-4 exhibited 99.9 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity. The ANI and dDDH values between the two strains were 97.8 % and 81.1 %, respectively, suggesting that they belong to the same species. However, DNA fingerprinting discriminated that they were not from one clonal origin. Based on phylogenomic and phylogenetic analyses coupled with phenotypic and chemotaxonomic characterizatons, strains BSK12Z-3T and BSK12Z-4 could be classified as a novel species of the genus Nocardioides, for which the name Nocardioides bruguierae sp. nov., is proposed. The type strain is BSK12Z-3T (=CGMCC 4.7709T = JCM 34554T).

RESUMEN

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an optical diagnostic technique that provides non-contact, non-invasive tomographic imaging of microscopic structures of living ocular tissues. However, it requires the patient to be seated during the examination, which limits its use in infants and recumbent patients.Intraoperative OCT (iOCT) can be used in patients in the decubitus position to provide the surgeon with critical real-time information on anatomy and subtle lesions, improving the success and safety of the procedure. At present, the clinically applied iOCT types include handheld OCT, microscope-mounted OCT, microscope-integrated OCT and so on, among which integrated microscope-integrated OCT is the most widely used.iOCT is mainly used in a variety of fundus surgeries, retinal detachment reduction and proliferative diabetic retinopathy resection in retinal disease surgeries, and macular hole repair and anterior macular membrane stripping in macular surgery.During surgery, the use of iOCT can play a role in reducing surgical complications, detecting subclinical lesions, helping the surgeon make the most appropriate surgical decision, and predicting patient prognosis. This article reviewed the classifications of iOCT, as well as its advantages and disadvantages in the application of retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, macular epiretinal membrane, macular hole and other diseases to provide a reference for clinical practitioners.

RESUMEN

A Gram-stain-negative and short rod-shaped strain CBK1P-4T, isolated from surface-sterilized bark of Avicennia marina was investigated by a polyphasic taxonomic approach to resolve its taxonomic position. Strain CBK1P-4T grew at 10-30 °C (optimum, 25 °C), pH 5.0-9.0 (optimum, pH 5.5) and in the presence of 0-9% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 1-2%). Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain CBK1P-4T belonged to the genus Jiella and was most closely related to species of the genus Jiella (97.4-98.3%). The genome comparisons between strain CBK1P-4T and the closely related species indicated that average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization values were below the recommended thresholds for assigning strains to the same species (95-96% and 70%, respectively). The cell wall peptidoglycan contained meso-diaminopimelic acid as diagnostic diamino acid. The principal fatty acids were C18:1ω7c and C19:0cycloω8c. The polar lipids were mainly comprised of phosphatidylcholine, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylmonomethylethanolamine, phosphatidylethanolamine, two unidentified aminolipids, one unidentified phospholipid and one unidentified glycolipid. The dominant respiratory quinone was ubiquinone-10. The DNA G + C content of strain CBK1P-4T was 66.7%. Based on the phenotypic features, phylogenetic analysis as well as genome analysis, we conclude that strain CBK1P-4T represents a novel Jiella species, for which the name Jiella avicenniae sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is CBK1P-4T (= CGMCC 1.18742T = JCM 34330T).

RESUMEN

A novel species of endophytic actinobacterium, designated strain GBK3QG-3T, was isolated from surface-sterilized root of Kandelia candel collected from Beilun Estuary, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, PR China. Cells of strain GBK3QG-3T were Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, non-spore-forming and rod-shaped. Growth of GBK3QG-3T was observed at 10-40 °C (optimum, 30 °C), pH 5.0-9.0 (optimum, pH 7.0) and in the presence of 0-3 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 0 %). The G+C content of genomic DNA was determined to be 72.2 mol%. On the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, strain GBK3QG-3T was most related to the type strain of Nocardioides agrisoli CCTCC AB 2017058T (97.7 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity), followed by Nocardioides ginkgobilobae SYP-A7303T (97.0 %) and Nocardioides aquiterrae GW-9T (96.9 %). Average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization values between strain GBK3QG-3T and some strains of the genus Nocardioides with publicly available genomes were below 84.3 and 30.0 %, respectively. The cell-wall peptidoglycan contained ll-diaminopimelic acid. The polar lipids comprised diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylinositol, an unknown phospholipid and an unknown lipid. The major menaquinone was identified as MK-8(H4), and the major fatty acids were identified as iso-C16 : 0, iso-C17 : 0 and anteiso-C17 : 0. Based on evidence collected from the phenotypic, genotypic and phylogenetic analyses, we propose a novel species named Nocardioides mangrovi sp. nov. The type strain is GBK3QG-3T (=CGMCC 4.7708T=JCM 34553T).

RESUMEN

A Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, short-rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain CBS1P-1T, was isolated from a surface-sterilized bark of Aegiceras corniculatum. Growth of strain CBS1P-1T was observed with between 0 and 12.0 % (w/v) NaCl (optimally with 5.0 %) and at between pH 6.0-9.0. It grew at temperatures between 25-37 °C (optimum, 30 °C). Chemotaxonomic analysis showed that ubiquinone-10 was the respiratory quinone. The lipids comprised diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, an unidentified glycolipid, an unidentified phospholipid and an unidentified aminolipid. The major fatty acids of strain CBS1P-1T were C18 : 1 ω7c, C16 : 0 and C19 : 0 cyclo ω8c. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain CBS1P-1T was most related to Pseudooceanicola antarcticus CGMCC 1.12662T with a sequence similarity of 96.5 %. The average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization values between strain CBS1P-1T and P. antarcticus 1.12662T were 77.5 and 21.1 %, respectively. The G+C content of the genomic DNA was 67.3 mol%. Based on phylogenetic, chemotaxonomic and phenotypic data, strain CBS1P-1T is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Pseudooceanicola, for which the name Pseudooceanicola endophyticus is proposed. The type strain is CBS1P-1T (=KCTC 62836T=CGMCC 1.13743T).

RESUMEN

Two novel strains KQZ13P-1T and MAQZ13P-2 were isolated from bark of Sonneratia apetala collected from Maowei sea Mangrove Nature Reserve in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. Two strains were Gram-positive, aerobic, non-spore-forming, no diffusion pigment actinobacterial strains and investigated by a polyphasic approach to determine their taxonomic position. The average nucleotide identity (ANI) value and the digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) value between the two strains were 99.9% and 99.7%, respectively, suggesting that they belonged to the same species. The ANI and dDDH values between strain KQZ13P-1T and five Phycicoccus species were 74.4-95.3% and 20.1-61.5%, respectively. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that the two strains were member of the genus Phycicoccus and were closely related to P. jejuensis NRRL B-24460T (99.2% sequence similarity), followed by P. ginsengisoli DCY87T (97.5-97.6%). Moreover, based on 88 core genes, the phylogenomic tree indicated that the two strains clustered with P. jejuensis NRRL B-24460T. The cell-wall peptidoglycan of both strains contained meso-diaminopimelic acid. The major fatty acids in two strains were C17:1ω8c, iso-C15:0 and iso-C16:0. The major polar lipids included diphosphatidylglycerol (DPG), phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) and phosphatidylinositol (PI). Based on phylogenetic, phenotypic and chemotaxonomic analysis, strains KQZ13P-1T and MAQZ13P-2 represent a novel species of the genus Phycicoccus, for which the name Phycicoccus mangrovi sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is KQZ13P-1T (=CGMCC 1.18973T = JCM 34556T).

RESUMEN

A novel actinobacterial strain, designated 10F1D-1T, was isolated from soil sample collected from Futian mangrove nature reserve, China using of the in situ cultivation technique. Preliminary analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence revealed that strain 10F1D-1T was the member of genus Schumannella with sharing highest sequence similarity (99.7%) to Schumannella luteola DSM 23141T. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences and core proteome consistently exhibited that strain 10F1D-1T formed a monophyletic clade with Schumannella luteola DSM 23141T. Comparative genomic analyses clearly separated strain 10F1D-1T from the only species of the genus Schumannella based on average nucleotide identity (ANI), average amino acid identity (AAI) and digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) values below the thresholds for species delineation. The genome of strain 10F1D-1T contains the biosynthetic gene clusters for osmoprotectants to adapt to the salt environment of mangrove. Strain 10F1D-1T also contains the biosynthetic gene clusters for bioactive compounds as secondary metabolites. On the basis of the polyphasic analysis, strain 10F1D-1T is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Schumannella, for which the name Schumannella soli sp. nov. (type strain 10F1D-1T = CGMCC1.16699T = JCM 33146T) is proposed.
