RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Primary splenic angiosarcoma (PSA) is an extremely rare and aggressive mesenchymal malignancy with high metastatic potential and a poor prognosis. There are no established treatment guidelines for PSA, even for adjuvant therapy. This rare case may provide a reliable therapeutic regime for a better prognosis. CASE SUMMARY: A 49-year-old female who complained of right-upper quadrant abdominal pain was diagnosed as having PSA with splenic rupture and liver metastasis. After splenectomy and liver tumor resection, she received sorafenib and camrelizumab therapy. After 15 mo of follow-up, she is in good condition, without recurrence or any identified metastasis. CONCLUSION: Immunotherapy combined with targeted therapy could be a potential option for the adjuvant therapy of PSA.

Plant root-leaf communication signals are critical for plant defense. Numerous studies show that belowground organisms can alter systemically resistance traits in aboveground parts against herbivores. However, there are limited studies on root-knot nematode-aphid interaction. Moreover, the impact of nematode's initial density and infection time on plant defense is poorly understood. Here we aim to examine the induced defense responses by root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita against aboveground feeding aphid Sitobion avenae in wheat. Further, we investigated the influence of the nematode infection density as well as the length of infection in these interactions. We tested the direct and indirect defense responses triggered by M. incognita against S. avenae as well as how the responses affect the preference of Harmonia axyridis. Plant volatiles and hormones were determined to explore plant defense mechanisms that mediate aboveground-belowground defense. The photosynthetic rate was tested to examine plant tolerance strategy. We found that, both low and high densities M. incognita root infection at 7 days post inoculation (dpi) reduced the feeding of the aphid S. avenae. Behavioral assay showed that H. axyridis preferred plants co-damaged by both M. incognita and S. avenae at 7 dpi. M. incognita infection induced the changes of jasmonic acid, salicylic acid and volatile content, which mediated plant response to S. avenae. Furthermore, photosynthetic rate in wheat increased at 5 dpi under 300 M. incognita or 1000 M. incognita infection. These results suggest that plant roots induced multiple defense strategies against foliar herbivores as damages increased. Our study provides evidence of a complex dynamic response of wheat aboveground defense against aphids in response to belowground nematode damage on a temporal scale.

RESUMEN

Li metal, which has a high theoretical capacity and negative electrochemical potential, is regarded as the "holy grail" in Li-ion batteries. However, the flammable nature of liquid electrolyte leads to safety issues. Hence, the cooperation of solid-state electrolyte and Li-metal anode is demanded. However, the short cycle life induced by interfacial issues is the main challenge faced by their cooperation. In this review, dendrite and interfacial side reactions are comprehensively analyzed as the main interfacial problems. Meanwhile, the "state-of-the-art" interphase materials are summarized. The challenges faced by each kind of material are underscored. Moreover, different processing routes to fabricate artificial interphase are also investigated from an engineering perspective. The processing routes suitable for mass production are also underscored.

The marriage between a Li metal anode and the solid-state electrolyte is expected to limit the safety risk of secondary batteries. However, dendrites and interfacial stability hinder the combination of Li metal anode and solid-state electrolyte. Herein, a plastic crystal electrolyte (PCE) and three-dimensional (3D) host structure played the role of a matchmaker in combining the solid-state electrolyte and Li metal anode. Succinonitrile cooperated with Li salt and Li6.4La3Zr1.4Ta0.6O12 nanosize powder and built a PCE interphase, which enhanced the interfacial stability between Li1.5Al0.5Ge1.5(PO4)3 and Li metal anode. To protect the soft PCE from the dendrite penetration, commercially sold Super P, carbon nanotube, KS6, and Ketjen black were co-heated with the melted Li metal. However, only KS6 built a 3D host in Li metal successfully because of its high graphitization and layered structure. Benefitting from the matchmakers, the solid-state batteries exhibited enhanced cycling stability.
