RESUMEN

Multi-Modality Aphasia Treatment (M-MAT) is an effective group intervention for post-stroke aphasia. M-MAT employs interactive card games and the modalities of gesture, drawing, reading, and writing to improve spoken language. However, there are challenges to implementation of group interventions such as M-MAT, particularly for those who cannot travel or live in rural areas. To maximise access to this effective treatment, we aimed to adapt M-MAT to telehealth format (M-MAT Tele). The Human-Centred Design Framework was utilized to guide the adaptation approach. We identified the intended context of use (outpatient/community rehabilitation) and the stakeholders (clinicians, people with aphasia, health service funders). People with aphasia and practising speech pathologists were invited to co-design M-MAT Tele in a series of iterative workshops, to ensure the end product was user-friendly and clinically feasible. The use of co-design allowed us to understand the hardware, software and other constraints and preferences of end users. In particular, clinicians (n = 3) required software compatible with a range of telehealth platforms and people with aphasia (n = 3) valued solutions with minimal technical demands and costs for participants. Co-design within the Human-Centred Design Framework led to a telehealth solution compatible with all major telehealth platforms, with minimal hardware or software requirements. Pilot testing is underway to confirm acceptability of M-MAT Tele to clinicians and people with aphasia, aiming to provide an effective, accessible tool for aphasia therapy in telehealth settings.

Oral delivery of larger bioactive peptides (>20 amino acids) to the small intestine remains a challenge due to their sensitivity to proteolytic degradation and chemical denaturation during gastrointestinal transit. In this study, we investigated the capacity of crosslinked alginate microcapsules (CLAMs) formed by spray drying to protect Plantaricin EF (PlnEF) (C-EF) in gastric conditions and to dissolve and release PlnEF in the small intestine. PlnEF is an unmodified, two-peptide (PlnE: 33 amino acids; PlnF: 34 amino acids) bacteriocin produced by Lactiplantibacillus plantarum with antimicrobial and gut barrier protective properties. After 2 h incubation in simulated gastric fluid (SGF) (pH 1.5), 43.39 % ± 8.27 % intact PlnEF was liberated from the CLAMs encapsulates, as determined by an antimicrobial activity assay. Transfer of the undissolved fraction to simulated intestinal fluid (SIF) (pH 7) for another 2 h incubation resulted in an additional release of 16.13 % ± 4.33 %. No active PlnEF was found during SGF or sequential SIF incubations when pepsin (2,000 U/ml) was added to the SGF. To test PlnEF release in C-EF contained in a food matrix, C-EF was mixed in peanut butter (PB) (0.15 g C-EF in 1.5 g PB). A total of 12.52 % ± 9.09 % active PlnEF was detected after incubation of PB + C-EF in SGF without pepsin, whereas no activity was found when pepsin was included. Transfer of the remaining PB + C-EF fractions to SIF yielded the recovery of 46.67 % ± 13.09 % and 39.42 % ± 11.53 % active PlnEF in the SIF following exposure to SGF and to SGF with pepsin, respectively. Upon accounting for the undissolved fraction after SIF incubation, PlnEF was fully protected in the CLAMs-PB mixture and there was not a significant reduction in active PlnEF when pepsin was present. These results show that CLAMs alone do not guard PlnEF bacteriocin peptides from gastric conditions, however, mixing them in PB protected against proteolysis and improved intestinal release.

Effective interventions that facilitate adjustment following acquired brain injury (ABI) are needed to improve long-term outcomes and meaningful reengagement in life. VaLiANT is an 8-week group intervention that combines cognitive rehabilitation with Acceptance and Commitment therapy to improve valued living, wellbeing, and adjustment. This study explored participant experiences of VaLiANT to optimize its ongoing development. This included characterization of individually meaningful treatment outcomes, mechanisms of action, and intervention acceptability. Qualitative interviews and quantitative ratings were collected from 39 ABI survivors (Mage = 52, SD = 15; 54% stroke) following their participation in VaLiANT. Participants reported diverse outcomes which resulted in three themes being generated following reflexive thematic analysis. "A fuller toolkit for life with brain injury" indicated increased strategy usage and better daily functioning; "The value of connection and belonging" captured the importance of social experiences in shaping recovery; and "Finding the me I can be" represented cognitive, behavioural, and emotional aspects of identity reconstruction post-ABI. The content and delivery of the intervention were rated highly but participants desired greater follow-up and tailoring of the intervention. Overall, VaLiANT appears to facilitate adjustment through several mechanisms, but greater intervention individualization and dosage may be required to enhance the treatment impact.

Objective: Mild-moderate cognitive impairment has been identified in general diabetes, and early evidence indicates cognitive reductions may be more pronounced in those with diabetes-related foot complications (DRFC). Cognitive difficulties may impede treatment engagement and self-management. This requires further explication to optimise patient care and outcomes. The current study aimed to characterise cognitive function in people with DRFC using comprehensive cognitive measures. Method: This cross-sectional cohort study recruited 80 adult participants (M age = 63.38, SD = 11.40, range = 30 - 89) from the Royal Melbourne Hospital Diabetic Foot Unit in Victoria, Australia, all with DRFC. Each completed a comprehensive cognitive battery (memory, attention, executive functions) and scores were calculated using age-matched population norms, where available. Results: On the majority of tasks, DRFC participants performed significantly worse than age-matched norms, with the largest decrements seen in inhibition control, verbal memory, verbal abstract reasoning and working memory. Small to moderate reductions were also seen in visual learning, verbal fluency, processing speed and premorbid functioning. Demographic (lower education, male gender) and clinical factors (higher HbA1c, macrovascular and microvascular disease, longer diabetes duration) were associated with poorer cognitive functioning. Conclusions: Marked reductions in cognitive functioning were found in individuals with DRFC, predominantly in the domains of verbal memory and executive functioning. Lower education, male gender and indicators of diabetes severity, such as vascular disease, are associated with heightened risk for poorer cognitive functioning. As DRFCs are a serious complication with devastating outcomes if not successfully managed, cognitive barriers to self-management must be addressed to optimise treatment. Background Young stroke survivors are likely to be discharged home from acute hospital care without rehabilitation more quickly than older survivors, but it is not clear why. File-audit studies capturing real-world clinical practice are lacking for this cohort. We aimed to compare characteristics and care pathways of young and older survivors and describe stroke presentations and predictors of pathways of care in young survivors (≤45years), including a focus on care received for 'invisible' (cognitive, psychological) difficulties. Methods A retrospective audit of 847 medical records (67 young stroke survivors, mean age=36years; 780 older patients, mean age=70years) was completed for stroke survivors admitted to an Australian tertiary hospital. Stroke characteristics and presence of cognitive difficulties (identified through clinician opinion or cognitive screening) were used to predict length of stay and discharge destination in young stroke survivors. Results There were no differences in length of stay between young and older survivors, however, young stroke survivors were more likely to be discharged home without rehabilitation (though this may be due to milder strokes observed in young stroke survivors). For young stroke survivors, stroke severity and age predicted discharge destination, while cognitive difficulties predicted longer length of stay. While almost all young survivors were offered occupational therapy and physiotherapy, none received psychological input (clinical, health or neuropsychology). Conclusions Cognitive and psychological needs of young stroke survivors may remain largely unmet by a service model designed for older people. Findings can inform service development or models of care, such as the new Australian Young Stroke Service designed to better meet the needs of young survivors.

Background Little is known regarding cognitive outcomes following treatment with endovascular clot retrieval (ECR) and intravenous tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA). We aimed to determine if there were any differences on a measure of cognitive screening between patients treated with ECR, t-PA, and those who were managed conservatively. Methods The medical records of ischaemic stroke patients admitted to Monash Medical Centre between January 2019 and December 2019 were retrospectively reviewed. Information extracted from medical records included age, sex, National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale at presentation, location of occlusion, treatment type, medical history, and cognitive screening performance measured by the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA). Results Eighty-two patients met the inclusion criteria (mean age = 66.5 ± 13.9; 49 male, 33 female). Patients treated with ECR performed significantly better on the MoCA (n = 36, 24.1 ± 4.3) compared to those who were managed conservatively (n = 26, 20.7 ± 5.5). Performance for patients treated with t-PA (n = 20, 23.9 ± 3.5) fell between the ECR and conservative management groups, but they did not significantly differ from either. Conclusion Our retrospective chart review found that ischaemic stroke patients treated with ECR appear to perform better on cognitive screening compared to patients who are managed conservatively. We also found that patients treated with ECR and t-PA appear to have similar cognitive screening performances in the acute stages following ischaemic stroke, although this finding is likely to have been impacted by group differences in stroke characteristics and may reflect the possibility that the ECR group performed better than expected based on their stroke severity.

Background People with aphasia experience depression and anxiety associated with negative outcomes across a range of time post-stroke. Stroke clinicians are well-positioned to facilitate low-intensity psychotherapeutic interventions after aphasia (e.g. mood screening, behavioural activation, problem-solving therapy, relaxation therapy); however, they self-report a lack of knowledge, skills and confidence to do so. The Theoretical Domains Framework (TDF) provides a lens through which to view and target clinician behaviours and training needs in this area of practice. The aim of this study was to develop and gain consensus on items for a rating scale of clinical competencies in facilitating individual-based, low-intensity psychotherapeutic interventions for people with aphasia. Methods An e-Delphi methodology using focus groups and survey rounds was used to gain consensus on clinical competencies considered important. Results Eight stroke clinicians (speech pathologists and psychologists), two people with aphasia and three family members participated in one of four focus groups. Four themes were derived from the data: (1) Communication support, (2) Assessment and therapy structure, (3) Interpersonal skills, and (4) Needs of the significant other (family or friend). Themes informed an initial list of 23 self-rated and observer-rated competency items. Following two rounds of e-Delphi surveys, 11 stroke clinicians (six speech pathologists and five psychologists) reached consensus (80-100%) for 19 competencies. Conclusions The Psychological Care in Aphasia Rehabilitation Competency scale offers a preliminary list of items to guide and train clinicians to implement low-intensity psychotherapeutic interventions for people with aphasia.

Disability arising from post-stroke cognitive impairment is a likely contributor to the poor quality of life (QoL) stroke survivors and their carers frequently experience, but this has not been summarily quantified. A systematic literature review and meta-analysis was completed examining the association between general and domain-specific post-stroke cognitive functioning and adult stroke survivor QoL, caregiver QoL, and caregiver burden. Five databases were systematically searched, and eligibility for inclusion, data extraction, and study quality were evaluated by two reviewers using a standardised protocol. Effects sizes (r) were estimated using a random effects model. Thirty-eight studies were identified, generating a sample of 7365 stroke survivors (median age 63.02 years, range 25-93) followed for 3 to 132 months post-stroke. Overall cognition (all domains combined) demonstrated a significant small to medium association with QoL, r = 0.23 (95% CI 0.18-0.28), p < 0.001. The cognitive domains of speed, attention, visuospatial, memory, and executive skills, but not language, also demonstrated a significant relationship with QoL. Regarding caregiver outcomes, 15 studies were identified resulting in a sample of 2421 caregivers (median age 58.12 years, range 18-82) followed for 3 to 84 months post-stroke. Stroke survivor overall cognitive ability again demonstrated a significant small to medium association with caregiver outcomes (QoL and burden combined), r = 0.17 (95% CI 0.10-0.24), p < 0.001. In conclusion, lower post-stroke cognitive performance is associated with significant reductions in stroke survivor QoL and poorer caregiver outcomes. Cognitive assessment is recommended early to identify those at risk and implement timely interventions to support both stroke survivors and their caregivers.

PURPOSE: Valued living (acting in accordance with personal values) is associated with better outcomes after acquired brain injury (ABI), but its measurement using the Valued Living Questionnaire (VLQ) may not be valid due to comprehension errors relating to structure and content. We aimed to modify the VLQ to improve its accessibility and evaluate construct validity and reliability in an ABI cohort. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Adaptations made in the VLQ - Comprehension Support version (VLQ-CS) used established communication support methods and addressed common comprehension errors. 103 community-dwelling participants (34% female; mean age 52.17, range 19-79) with ABI (66% stroke, 16% TBI, 18% other) completed the VLQ-CS, and measures of convergent (valued living, mood, wellbeing, psychological inflexibility) and divergent validity (subjective memory). Test-retest reliability was evaluated with repeated administrations 6-8 weeks apart for a subset of participants (n = 44), using Intraclass Correlation Coefficients (ICCs). RESULTS: Convergent validity was supported; VLQ-CS scores were positively correlated with measures of valued living (r=.60-.65) and wellbeing (r=.64-.67), and negatively correlated with depression (r=-0.56-.58), anxiety (r=-0.35-.38) and psychological inflexibility (r=-0.37-.41). Divergent validity was marginal (r=-0.29). Test-retest reliability was good for the VLQ-CS Composite score (ICC=.80). CONCLUSIONS: The VLQ-CS shows promise as a valid, reliable measure of valued living post-ABI. Future research should extend to neurotypical and other clinical populations.


Valued living or values-based action is associated with better functional and psychosocial outcomes after acquired brain injury (ABI) and is therefore an important target for intervention.Measurement of valued living needs to be clear, easily understood, and relevant for people with cognitive and communication impairments associated with ABI and other conditions.The Valued Living Questionnaire ­ Comprehension Support version (VLQ-CS) was developed to optimise accessibility and reduce comprehension errors.The VLQ-CS is valid, reliable and fit-for-purpose as a measure of valued living for people with ABI.

Objective: Neuropsychological assessment (NP) feedback helps patients and caregivers understand assessment results to maximise their utility and impact in everyday life. Yet feedback practices are inconsistent and there are no evidence-based guidelines for how feedback should be most effectively delivered. The aim of our study was to develop a psychometrically sound feedback competency checklist, the Psychology Competency Assessment Tool - Feedback (PsyCET-F), for use in research, training, and clinical settings. Method: The Delphi method of expert consensus was used to establish checklist items that clearly described competencies important for NP feedback. To examine the inter-rater reliability of the checklist, two experienced neuropsychologists rated the competencies demonstrated by trainee neuropsychologists across four feedback sessions. Results: After two Delphi rounds, consensus was reached on the 20-item checklist. Consensus was defined as at least 80% agreement amongst the panel of 20 experts. Four item categories resulted from the Delphi: (a) Opening the Session; (b) Applying Specific Feedback Techniques; (c) Engagement, Collaboration, and Alliance; and (d) Structuring and Ending the Session. Inter-rater reliability was moderate (κW = 0.79, p <.001, 80.52% agreement) when using a simple coding system, coded as Beginner, Intermediate, Competent, and Skilful; and strong (κW = 0.82, p <.001) when competency level was coded using an 8-point, detailed coding method. Conclusions: The PsyCET-F is psychometrically sound and fit-for-purpose for measuring competencies in giving NP feedback. It can be used in the training of clinicians to develop effective feedback skills. International benchmarking and usability testing will be conducted in a future study.

Objective: To delineate the unique role of clinical neuropsychologists in contemporary Australian clinical practice and present a comprehensive consensus-based set of clinical neuropsychology competencies to guide and standardize the training of clinical neuropsychologists. Method: Twenty-four national representatives of the clinical neuropsychology profession (71% female, M = 20.1, SD = 8.1 years clinical practice), including tertiary-level educators, senior practitioners and members of the executive committee of the peak national neuropsychology body, formed the Australian Neuropsychology Alliance of Training and Practice Leaders (ANATPL). Informed by a review of existing international competency frameworks and Australian Indigenous psychology education frameworks, a provisional set of competencies for clinical neuropsychology training and practice were developed, followed by 11 rounds of feedback and revisions. Results: The final set of clinical neuropsychology competencies achieved full consensus and falls into three broad categories: generic foundational (i.e. general professional psychology competencies applied to clinical neuropsychology); specific functional (i.e. specific to clinical neuropsychology areas of practice) competencies relevant to all career stages; and functional competencies relevant to advanced career stages. Competencies span a number of knowledge and skill-based domains including neuropsychological models and syndromes, neuropsychological assessment, neuropsychological intervention, consultation, teaching/supervision and management/administration. Conclusion: The competencies reflect recent advances in the field of clinical neuropsychology, including expanded intervention competencies, culturally-informed neuropsychological practice and use of emerging technologies. They will be available as a resource to guide curriculum development for clinical training, as well as providing a useful framework for professional practice and advocacy more broadly within the discipline of clinical neuropsychology.

Interventions addressing cognitive and emotional difficulties after acquired brain injury (ABI) often focus on specific impairments in cognition or mood. These interventions can be effective at addressing their specific target, but do not routinely translate to improved activity and participation outcomes. Approaches that combine cognitive and psychological rehabilitation are increasingly popular; however, to date, there have been no systematic evaluations of their efficacy. We conducted a systematic review of five databases, searching for randomised controlled trials of adults with diagnoses of non-progressive ABI at least 1-month post injury, in receipt of interventions that combined cognitive and psychological components compared to any control. Screening and data extraction were evaluated by two independent reviewers using a standardised protocol. Effect sizes were calculated using Hedge's g and estimated using a random-effects model. Risk of bias was assessed using the PEDro-P rating system, and quality of evidence evaluated using the grading of recommendation, assessment, development and evaluation (GRADE) approach. Thirteen studies were included in the meta-analysis (n = 684). There was an overall small-to-medium effect (g = 0.42) for combined interventions compared with controls, with gains maintained at 6-month follow-up. Improvements were observed at the level of impairment, activity, participation and quality of life. GRADE ratings and analyses investigating sensitivity, heterogeneity and publication bias indicated that these effects were robust. No a priori variables moderated these effects. Overall, this review provides strong evidence that combined cognitive and psychological interventions create meaningful change in the lives of people with ABI.

Delivery of neuropsychological interventions addressing the cognitive, psychological, and behavioural consequences of brain conditions is increasingly recognised as an important, if not essential, skill set for clinical neuropsychologists. It has the potential to add substantial value and impact to our role across clinical settings. However, there are numerous approaches to neuropsychological intervention, requiring different sets of skills, and with varying levels of supporting evidence across different diagnostic groups. This clinical guidance paper provides an overview of considerations and recommendations to help guide selection, delivery, and implementation of neuropsychological interventions for adults and older adults. We aimed to provide a useful source of information and guidance for clinicians, health service managers, policy-makers, educators, and researchers regarding the value and impact of such interventions. Considerations and recommendations were developed by an expert working group of neuropsychologists in Australia, based on relevant evidence and consensus opinion in consultation with members of a national clinical neuropsychology body. While the considerations and recommendations sit within the Australian context, many have international relevance. We include (i) principles important for neuropsychological intervention delivery (e.g. being based on biopsychosocial case formulation and person-centred goals); (ii) a description of clinical competencies important for effective intervention delivery; (iii) a summary of relevant evidence in three key cohorts: acquired brain injury, psychiatric disorders, and older adults, focusing on interventions with sound evidence for improving activity and participation outcomes; (iv) an overview of considerations for sustainable implementation of neuropsychological interventions as 'core business'; and finally, (v) a call to action.

This study aimed to compare the efficacy of three skills training methods (Trial and error TEL; systematic instruction SI; and error-based learning EBL) for training the use of a smartphone reminder app in individuals with an acquired brain injury. Participants (N = 38, Mage = 61.21 years, 71.1% stroke) were randomly allocated to one of three training conditions and trained over one two-hour session. Proficiency of performance with the trained app (primary outcome) was assessed immediately post-training, one- and six-weeks post-intervention. Secondary outcomes included generalization of skills, error commission, smartphone use frequency and confidence, and subjective memory complaints. Proficiency with the trained app after TEL was higher than SI immediately after the training (d = 0.87) and EBL at the one-week follow-up (d = 0.98). No differences were found six-weeks post-training. Smartphone use confidence increased at the six-week follow-up after TEL (d = 1.12) and EBL training (d = 0.91) but not after SI (d = 0.26). Self-reported memory complaints decreased across time for all groups (ηp2 = 0.30). There was no clearly superior training method for optimizing proficiency with the reminder app. The expected benefits of SI and EBL may not have emerged due to the single-session format of the training. However, smartphone training via TEL or EBL has the potential to address confidence-related barriers to smartphone use.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: In psychological research, control conditions in the form of "treatment as usual" provide support for intervention efficacy, but do not allow the attribution of positive outcomes to the unique components of the treatment itself. Attentionally and structurally equivalent active control conditions, such as health education (HE), have been implemented in recent trials of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). However, descriptions and evaluations of these control conditions are limited. The aims of this paper were to (i) provide a detailed description and rationale for a novel HE active control condition and (ii) to evaluate the face validity, treatment integrity and feasibility of HE. METHOD: We developed a HE active control similar in structure and duration to a CBT intervention for reducing sleep disturbance and fatigue (CBT-SF) in a pilot randomised controlled trial (n = 51). Face validity was measured using post-treatment participant satisfaction and helpfulness ratings for fatigue and sleep symptoms, treatment fidelity was measured with integrity monitoring ratings from an independent expert and feasibility was measured with completion and attrition rates. HE and CBT-SF groups were compared using Wilcoxon rank-sum tests and chi-square tests of independence. RESULTS: There were no significant differences in participant ratings of overall satisfaction between HE (n = 17) and CBT (n = 34) or in how helpful each intervention was for fatigue symptoms. Participants rated helpfulness for sleep symptoms higher in the CBT-SF group compared to HE. Integrity monitoring ratings were not significantly different for overall treatment delivery and therapist competency, but HE had greater module adherence than CBT-SF. There were no significant differences in completion or attrition rates between groups. CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that the HE control had adequate face validity, was delivered with fidelity and was feasible and suitable for use as a comparator for CBT-SF. In providing a real-world example of practical and theoretical issues we considered when designing this control condition, we aim to provide a framework and guidance for future investigators. Rehabilitation of memory remains an unmet need for many stroke survivors. Telehealth methods may provide a solution, however evidence supporting the efficacy of remotely-delivered therapy is needed. A non-concurrent multiple baseline design was used with randomized onset of intervention across five individuals with chronic stroke-related memory complaints. A six-week compensatory memory skills programme was delivered individually via internet videoconferencing. Target behaviours of frequencies of self-reported lapses of everyday and prospective memory were measured weekly across baseline, intervention, and follow-up phases. A secondary outcome of functional goal attainment was measured once per phase, with participants setting two personal rehabilitation goals. Data were analysed visually and statistically. Improvements in memory functioning were statistically significant on at least one measure of target behaviour for four out of five participants at intervention or follow-up. Visual evidence of level change indicated at least modest improvements for all participants by follow-up. All participants attained at least one functional goal by follow-up. High rates of treatment adherence and participant satisfaction were observed. Technological issues were minimal and did not impact content delivery or engagement. These results provide preliminary support for the efficacy of a telehealth-delivered rehabilitation programme in improving memory function and achieving memory-related goals for stroke survivors.

Despite evidence of the efficacy of telerehabilitation post-stroke, uptake has lagged behind the development of available technology, slowed by low confidence in user experience. We aimed to explore the issue of acceptability by characterizing the experience of telerehabilitation for service providers and consumers of a memory rehabilitation program. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine clinicians (Mage = 33.29; SD = 7.37; range 25-44) and 25 stroke survivors with memory difficulties (Mage = 54.12; SD = 10.99; range 36-82) following a 6-week compensatory memory skills program delivered via in-home videoconferencing. Thematic analysis identified a range of perspectives under three overarching themes: (1) Content and Delivery; (2) Relationship and Connection; and (3) The Role and Benefits of Telerehabilitation. Reports from both respondent groups were overwhelmingly positive about the telerehabilitation experience and identified the benefits of increasing service availability. Videoconferencing technology was usable and occasional reliability issues were not a barrier. Users identified a range of benefits and challenges regarding communication, rapport building, and integration of rehabilitation in the home environment. Furthermore, most stroke survivors reported benefit from the intervention, via the acquisition of memory strategies and improved self-confidence through better understanding of their deficits. Overall, telerehabilitation of memory was acceptable to users.

Smartphones are useful compensatory memory aids, yet training on how to use them is seldom offered as part of rehabilitation for acquired brain injuries (ABIs). We aimed to explore the experience and acceptability of a smartphone training intervention in 26 people with ABI who participated in a pilot randomized controlled trial comparing three skills training approaches. Participants completed questionnaire ratings and a semi-structured interview, six weeks post-training. Most participants rated the training as enjoyable (80.8%) and reasonable in duration (88.5%). Others reported that more than one training session was needed to learn the app (34.6%). Five themes were identified from qualitative data through thematic analysis: (1) Attitudes and pre-existing factors, (2) Experiencing the intervention, (3) Tailoring the intervention to the individual, (4) Facilitators and barriers to implementation and (5) Enhancing smartphone use in everyday life. These themes were juxtaposed with a theoretical framework of acceptability, which indicated that some elements (e.g., having a structured session and a supportive trainer) contributed to the acceptability of the intervention by minimizing training burden and increasing self-efficacy. Tailoring the training to the individual's technological skills and lifestyle, providing post-training resources and involving family members were identified as factors that could improve intervention acceptability.
