RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To solve the degradation of production and quality of Pinellia caused by the virus accumulation, rapid propagation technical of virus-free Pinellia was researched. METHODS: Pinellia leaves, petioles as explants, technology of using high temperature (38 degrees C, 40d) and shoot tip culture producing virus-free Pinellia was explored. RESULTS: The results showed that leaves without virus spots was about 88.9% when explants were culture for 40d at high temperature (38 degrees C). 1.0 mg/L 6-BA and 0.1 mg/L NAA could induce seedling from shoot tip, seedling rate is up to 91.4%; MS added 0.5 mg/L 6-BA and 0.1 mg/L NAA was conducive to growth of the plantlets; added 0.5 mg/L KT and 0.5 mg/L NAA was in favor of inducing root and promoting root growth, the survival rate of the transplanting seedling could reach 89.5%. CONCLUSION: A reliable system of virus-free Pinellia propagation is established.

RESUMEN

Wheat hybrid necrosis has been genetically characterised for many years, but the specific gene(s) and the protein products involved in the processes remains unknown. In this study, protein expression in the base (B), mid (M) and tip (T) segments of the FL-2 leaves of a necrotic hybrid, PZF1 and its parents, Pan555 and Zheng891, was analysed and compared using a high throughput proteomic approach. Twenty-three protein spots, with significant variations in intensity across the necrotic leaf segments, were analysed by MALDI-TOF-MS, of which, 18 were matched to protein accessions in the NCBI database. Several of these proteins are enzymes involved in the methylation cycle, including AdoHcy hydrolase, AdoMet synthase 3 and methionine synthase 1; AdoHcy hydrolase was downregulated sharply in M and T, and AdoMet synthase 3 and methionine synthase 1 were upregulated gradually from M to T. This result suggests that methylation-associated processes, including epigenetic mechanisms, may play a role in the initiation and development of hybrid necrosis. Several energy cycle-associated proteins and cytoprotective proteins were also differentially expressed across the leaf segments, suggesting their direct association with or possible involvement in the necrotic processes. The significant imbalance of a heat-shock protein, a transposon protein and a RNA- and ssDNA-binding protein also makes these proteins potential molecular components in the necrotic processes.

RESUMEN

Carbon capture and storage (CCS) has been widely recognized as one of the options to mitigate carbon emission to eventually stabilize carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere. Three parts of CCS, which are carbon capture, transport, and storage are assessed in this paper, covering comparisons of techno-economic parameters for different carbon capture technologies, comparisons of storage mechanism, capacity and cost for various storage formations, and etc. In addition, the role of CCS to mitigate global carbon emission is introduced. Finally, China MARKAL model is updated to include various CCS technologies, especially indirect coal liquefaction and poly-generation technologies with CCS, in order to consider carbon emission reduction as well as energy security issue. The model is used to generate different scenarios to study potential role of CCS to mitigate carbon emissions by 2050 in China. It is concluded that application of CCS can decrease marginal abatement cost and the decrease rate can reach 45% for the emission reduction rate of 50%, and it can lessen the dependence on nuclear power development for stringent carbon constrains. Moreover, coal resources can be cleanly used for longer time with CCS, e.g., for the scenario C70, coal share in the primary energy consumption by 2050 will increase from 10% when without CCS to 30% when with CCS. Therefore, China should pay attention to CCS R&D activities and to developing demonstration projects.
