RESUMEN

The analytical equation based on Monin-Obukhov (M-O) similarity theory (i.e., wind profile equation) has been adopted since 1970s for using in the prediction of wind vertical profile over flat terrains, which is mature and accurate. However, its applicability over complex terrains remains unknown. This applicability signifies the accuracy of the estimations of aerodynamic parameters for the boundary layer of non-flat terrain, such as zero-displacement height (d) and aerodynamic roughness length (z0), which will determine the accuracy of frequency correction and source area analysis in calculating carbon, water, and trace gas fluxes based on vorticity covariance method. Therefore, the validation of wind profile model in non-flat terrain is the first step to test whether the flux model needs improvement. We measured three-dimensional wind speed data by using the Ker Towers (three towers in a watershed) at Qingyuan Forest CERN in the Mountainous Region of east Liaoning Province, and compared them with data from Panjin Agricultural Station in the Liaohe Plain, to evaluate the applicability of a generalized wind profile model based on the Monin-Obukhov similarity theory on non-flat terrain. The results showed that the generalized wind profile model could not predict wind speeds accurately of three flux towers separately located in different sites, indicating that wind profile model was not suitable for predicting wind speeds in complex terrains. In the leaf-off and leaf-on periods, the coefficient of determination (R2) between observed and predicted wind speeds ranged from 0.12 to 0.30. Compared to measured values, the standard error of the predicted wind speeds was high up to 2 m·s-1. The predicted wind speeds were high as twice as field-measured wind speed, indicating substantial overestimation. Nevertheless, this model correctly predicted wind speeds in flat agricultural landscape in Panjin Agricultural Station. The R2 between observed wind speeds and predicted wind speed ranged from 0.90 to 0.93. The standard error between observed and predicted values was only 0.5 m·s-1. Results of the F-test showed that the root-mean-square error of the observed and predicted wind speeds in each secondary forest complex terrain was much greater than that in flat agricultural landscape. Terrain was the primary factor affecting the applicability of wind profile model, followed by seasonality (leaf or leafless canopy). The wind profile model was not applicable to the boundary-layer flows over forest canopies in complex terrains, because the d was underestimated or both the d and z0 were underestimated, resulting in inaccurate estimation of aerodynamic height.

RESUMEN

Ensuring information security has emerged as a paramount concern in contemporary human society. Substantial advancements in this regard can be achieved by leveraging photonic signals as the primary information carriers, utilizing photonic logical gates capable of wavelength tunability across various time and spatial domains. However, the challenge remains in the rational design of materials possessing space-time-color multiple-resolution capabilities. In this work, a facile approach is proposed for crafting metal-organic halides (MOHs) that offer space-time-color resolution. These MOHs integrate time-resolved room temperature phosphorescence and color-resolved excitation wavelength dependencies with both space-resolved ex situ optical waveguides and in situ heterojunctions. Capitalizing on these multifaceted properties, MOHs-based two-dimensional (2D) optical waveguides and heterojunctions exhibit the ability to tune full-color emissions across the spectra from blue to red, operating within different spatial and temporal scales. Therefore, this work introduces an effective methodology for engineering space-time-color resolved MOH microstructures, holding significant promise for the development of high-density photonic logical devices.

RESUMEN

Molecular ultralong room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP), exhibiting multiple stimuli-responsive characteristics, has garnered considerable attention due to its potential applications in light-emitting devices, sensors, and information safety. This work proposes the utilization of photochemical cascade processes (PCCPs) in molecular crystals to design a stepwise smart RTP switch. By harnessing the sequential dynamics of photo-burst movement (induced by [2+2] photocycloaddition) and photochromism (induced by photogenerated radicals) in a bismuth (Bi)-based metal-organic halide (MOH), a continuous and photo-responsive ultralong RTP can be achieved. Furthermore, utilizing the same Bi-based MOH, diverse application demonstrations, such as multi-mode anti-counterfeiting and information encryption, can be easily implemented. This work thus not only serves as a proof-of-concept for the development of solid-state PCCPs that integrate photosalient effect and photochromism with light-chemical-mechanical energy conversion, but also lays the groundwork for designing new Bi-based MOHs with dynamically responsive ultralong RTP.

RESUMEN

Plum (Prunus salicina) is one of the most important fruit tree species worldwide (Valderrama-Soto et al. 2021). In June 2023, the postharvest soft rot symptoms were observed on plum fruits in several fruit markets of Guiyang city, Guizhou province, China. The disease incidence in these markets ranged from 20 to 25% with 70% disease severity. Plum fruits showed rotting, which was characterized by water soaked fruit tissue, softening and presence of whitish mycelia four days post inoculation. In severe conditions, whole fruits become rotted and were covered with white fungal mycelia. Small sections (5 × 3 mm) from 6 diseased plum fruits were surface sterilized by using 75% ethanol for 30 s followed by 0.1% mercuric chloride solution for 5 min, rinsed three times with ddH2O, and then transferred onto potato dextrose agar (PDA) and incubated at 25 ± 2°C for three days. Three pure cultures (GUCC23-0001 to GUCC23-0003) were obtained by transferring a single hyphal tip to new PDA plates. Colonies of these isolates were grayish-white initially, gradually turning to whitish brown with fluffy aerial mycelia and uneven edges and finally turned to a dark gray colony after five days of inoculation. The pseudoparaphyses were hyaline, cylindrical, aseptate, and rounded at apex. Conidia were ellipsoidal, hyaline, unicellular, and 24.2 to 28.6 × 12.3 to 15.5 µm in size (n = 30) (Fig. S1), which were similar to the morphology of Lasiodiplodia pseudotheobromae (Alves et al. 2008). Furthermore, fungal DNA was extracted from fresh mycelia of PDA after seven days by using fungus genomic DNA extraction kit (Biomiga, USA). Partial DNA sequences from four loci including internal transcribed spacer (ITS), translation elongation factor 1-alpha (tef1), beta-tubulin (tub2), and polymerase II second largest subunit (rpb2) were amplified with ITS1 and ITS4 (White et al. 1990), EF1-688F and EF1-1251R (Alves et al. 2008), Bt2a and Bt2b (Glass and Donaldson 1995), and RPB2-LasF and RPB2-LasR, respectively (Cruywagen et al. 2017). GenBank accession numbers are OR361680, OR361681, OR361682 for ITS, OR423394, OR423395, OR423396 for tef1, OR423397, OR423398, OR423399 for tub2, and OR423391, OR423392, OR423393 for rpb2, and gene sequencing showed 99.6 to 100% identity with ex-type strain of L. pseudotheobromae (CBS 116459). Phylogenetic analysis also placed our isolates in a highly supported clade with the reference isolate of L. pseudotheobromae (Fig. S2). Another experiment was designed to confirm the pathogenicity test for additional confirmation. Five mm mycelial plugs of L. pseudotheobromae from a three day old culture on PDA were placed on five surface-sterilized and non-wounded plum fruits for 12 hours and incubated at 25°C ± 2°C for four days. Sterilized fungus free PDA plugs were used as a negative control. Mycelial plugs were removed after 12 hours following which whole fruits were incubated in plastic boxes at 25°C ± 2°C. The experiment was repeated twice. The pathogenicity was evaluated under control conditions in laboratory (relative humidity, 70 ± 5% and temperature 25 ± 5˚C). Plum fruits showed rotting, which was characterized by water soaked fruit tissue, softening and presence of whitish mycelia four days post inoculation. These symptoms and signs were similar to the initially observed symptoms on plums in the markets. No disease symptoms were observed on the control fruits. The re-isolated fungus obtained from inoculated plum fruits was very similar to those isolated from diseased samples in morphology, fulfilling Koch's postulates. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of L. pseudotheobromae causing postharvest fruit rot of plum in China. In 2022, the total planting area of plum was 1946.5 thousand hectares, which produces approximately 6626300 tons of plum (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, 2022). Based on the disease incidence and severity reported in the current study, soft rot of plum may be responsible for nearly 35% of yield losses under severe. Therefore, our study laid a theoretical foundation for the prevention and control of this post-harvest disease of plum.

RESUMEN

Dysregulation of mitochondrial homeostasis is common to all types of cardiovascular diseases. SIRT3 regulates apoptosis and autophagy, material and energy metabolism, mitochondrial oxidative stress, inflammation, and fibrosis. As an important mediator and node in the network of mechanisms, SIRT3 is essential to many activities. This review explains how SIRT3 regulates mitochondrial homeostasis and the tricarboxylic acid cycle to treat common cardiovascular diseases. A novel description of the impact of lifestyle factors on SIRT3 expression from the angles of nutrition, exercise, and temperature is provided.

RESUMEN

Ferroptosis is closely associated with the development of disease in the body. However, there are few studies on ferroptosis-related genes (FRGs) in obesity. Therefore, key genes and signalling pathways related to ferroptosis in obesity were screened. Briefly, the RNA sequencing data of obesity and the non-obesity human samples and 259 FRGs were downloaded from GEO database and FerrDb database, respectively. The obesity-related module genes were firstly screened by weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) and crossed with differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of obesity/normal samples and FRGs to obtain obesity-ferroptosis related (OFR) DEGs. Then, key genes were screened by PPI network. Next, the correlation of key genes and differential immune cells between obesity and normal samples were further explored by immune infiltration analysis. Finally, microRNA (miRNA)-messenger RNA (mRNA), transcription factor (TF)-mRNA networks and drug-gene interaction networks were constructed. As a result, 17 OFR DEGs were obtained, which mainly participated in processes such as lipid metabolism or adipocyte differentiation. The 4 key genes, STAT3, IL-6, PTGS2, and VEGFA, constituted the network. M2 macrophages, T cells CD8, mast cells activated, and T cells CD4 memory resting had significant differences between obesity and normal samples. Moreover, 51 miRNAs and 164 drugs were predicted for 4 key genes. All in all, this study has screened 4 FRGs, including IL-6, VEGFA, STAT3, and PTGS2, in obesity patients.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: To assess the cost-effectiveness of utilizing IDegLira in comparison to other treatment regimens ( liraglutide and degludec) in managing type 2 diabetes, taking into account the Chinese healthcare system's perspective. METHODS: The clinical data were obtained from the randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of the DUAL I and DUAL II evidence studies that took place in China. To estimate the lifetime quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs) and direct medical costs of patients receiving different treatment strategies from a long-term perspective, the IQVIA CORE Diabetes Model version 9.0 (IQVIA, Basel, Switzerland) was utilized. The costs were evaluated from the perspective of the China National Health System. Future costs and clinical benefits were discounted annually at 5%, and sensitivity analyses were conducted. RESULTS: IDegLira was projected to reduce the incidence of diabetes-related complications and improve quality-adjusted life expectancy (QALE) versus liraglutide and degludec. A survival benefit was observed with IDegLira over Liraglutide (0.073 years). Lifetime costs were lower by Chinese yuan (CNY) 27,945 on IDegLira than on Liraglutide therapy. A similar survival benefit was observed with IDegLira over degludec (0.068 years). Lifetime costs were lower by CNY 1196 on IDegLira than on degludec therapy. Therefore, IDegLira was found to be cost-effective versus liraglutide and degludec with incremental cost-effectiveness ratios of Dominant per QALY gained, respectively, under the threshold of three times the gross domestic product (GDP) per capita in China. CONCLUSION: IDegLira is a cost-effective hypoglycemic treatment option that delivers positive clinical outcomes while also reducing costs for Chinese patients living with type 2 diabetes.

RESUMEN

Harnessing the potential of thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) and room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) is crucial for developing light-emitting diodes (LEDs), lasers, sensors, and many others. However, effective strategies in this domain are still relatively scarce. This study presents a new approach to achieving highly efficient deep-blue TADF (with a PLQY of 25 %) and low-energy orange RTP (with a PLQY of 90 %) through the fabrication of lead-free hybrid halides. This new class of monomeric and dimeric 0D antimony halides can be facilely synthesized using a bottom-up solution process, requiring only a few seconds to minutes, which offer exceptional stability and nontoxicity. By leveraging the highly adaptable molecular arrangement and crystal packing modes, the hybrid antimony halides demonstrate the ability to self-assemble into regular 1D microrod and 2D microplate morphologies. This self-assembly is facilitated by multiple non-covalent interactions between the inorganic cores and organic shells. Notably, these microstructures exhibit outstanding polarized luminescence and function as low-dimensional optical waveguides with remarkably low optical-loss coefficients. Therefore, this work not only presents a pioneering demonstration of deep-blue TADF in hybrid antimony halides, but also introduces 1D and 2D micro/nanostructures that hold promising potential for applications in white LEDs and low-dimensional photonic systems.

RESUMEN

A girl in middle childhood was referred to rheumatology with a 1-month history of progressive skull pain, preceded by fleeting musculoskeletal symptoms. Apart from a scaly rash on her scalp, she was well, with moderately elevated inflammatory markers. Skull imaging (radiographs, CT and MRI) revealed osteolytic lesions, soft tissue swelling and pachymeningeal enhancement at frontal and temporal convexities. Langerhans cell histiocytosis, bone infection/inflammation or malignancy was considered. Skin and bone biopsies eventually ruled out mimicking diseases and confirmed the diagnosis of chronic recurrent multifocal osteomyelitis (CRMO). She was treated with intravenous pamidronate (IVPAM) for 9 months, with rapid resolution of pain and gradual resolution of bony abnormalities. She remains in remission at 15-month follow-up. While CRMO can affect any bone, skull involvement is extremely rare, with a broad differential diagnosis. We recommend bone biopsy to confirm skull CRMO. The patient achieved excellent clinical and radiological response to IVPAM.

RESUMEN

The canonical transient receptor potential channel (TRPC) proteins form Ca2+-permeable cation channels that are involved in various heart diseases. However, the roles of specific TRPC proteins in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury remain poorly understood. We observed that TRPC1 and TRPC6 were highly expressed in the area at risk (AAR) in a coronary artery ligation induced I/R model. Trpc1-/- mice exhibited improved cardiac function, lower serum Troponin T and serum creatine kinase level, smaller infarct volume, less fibrotic scars, and fewer apoptotic cells after myocardial-I/R than wild-type or Trpc6-/- mice. Cardiomyocyte-specific knockdown of Trpc1 using adeno-associated virus 9 mitigated myocardial I/R injury. Furthermore, Trpc1 deficiency protected adult mouse ventricular myocytes (AMVMs) and HL-1 cells from death during hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) injury. RNA-sequencing-based transcriptome analysis revealed differential expression of genes related to reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation in Trpc1-/- cardiomyocytes. Among these genes, oxoglutarate dehydrogenase-like (Ogdhl) was markedly downregulated. Moreover, Trpc1 deficiency impaired the calcineurin (CaN)/nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) signaling pathway in AMVMs. Suppression of this pathway inhibited Ogdhl upregulation and ROS generation in HL-1 cells under H/R conditions. Chromatin immunoprecipitation assays confirmed NF-κB binding to the Ogdhl promoter. The cardioprotective effect of Trpc1 deficiency was canceled out by overexpression of NF-κB and Ogdhl in cardiomyocytes. In conclusion, our findings reveal that TRPC1 is upregulated in the AAR following myocardial I/R, leading to increased Ca2+ influx into associated cardiomyocytes. Subsequently, this upregulates Ogdhl expression through the CaN/NF-κB signaling pathway, ultimately exacerbating ROS production and aggravating myocardial I/R injury.

RESUMEN

Objective:To recognize the overall situation of the core competency of medical professional postgraduate, analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the training process, and provide basis for better optimization and revision of training objectives and training plans. Methods:An anonymous online questionnaire was conducted among 264 postgraduates majoring in clinical medicine to recognize the cognition and self-evaluation of core competence, and analyze the differences in scores of different grades and types. SPSS 23.0 was used for independent-samples t test; and one-way analysis of variance to analyze categorical variables. Results:The doctoral degree students' core competency results were higher than those of master degree students, and those of the senior students were higher than junior students ( P<0.05). "System Improvement Ability" [master degree students (2.94±1.07), first-year students (2.82±0.97)], "Patient Management" [(first-year students (2.77±1.22)], "Academic Research" [first-year students (2.90±1.03)], and 4 other indicators were the weakness of students (all less than 3 scores). Conclusion:The students have a good sense of professional identity for doctors. The different depth of the clinical practice education is the possible cause which brings about the differences among students with different degrees. We should focus on strengthening the training for the "shortcomings" in the core competence of students.

RESUMEN

In situ measurement of albedo is important for estimating ecosystem energy budget and its remote sensing application. However, the measurement method of albedo on sloping land is limited and the difference in temporal variation in albedo between visible and near-infrared bands remains unclear. Taking a deciduous broad-leaved forest at the Maoershan Forest Ecological Station in Northeast China as an example, we explored the temporal variation and influencing factors of albedo for three bands: incident and reflected solar radiation (SR, 300-2800 nm), photosynthetically active radiation (PAR, 400-700 nm), and near infrared radiation (NIR, 700-2800 nm). The temporal difference in albedo measurements between the two installation methods of radiometers was analyzed. The results showed that, in sunny days, the diurnal variation in SR and NIR albedo had an asymmetric U-shaped curve around the local noon, while PAR increased from sunrise to sunset. In cloudy days, the albedo decreased sharply and then tended to be stable. The measurement with parallel sensors to the slope increased the daily mean value of albedo, but reduced the daily asymmetry of SR and NIR. For the whole growing season, the maximum albedos of SR, NIR and PAR in horizontal measurement were 0.16, 0.27 and 0.11, respectively, and the minimums were 0.07, 0.11 and 0.03, respectively. Albedo in the SR and NIR wavebands increased first and then decreased (the peak value was in July), while PAR showed a contrasting pattern. SR albedo was mainly controlled by NIR rather than PAR. The contribution of the influencing factors was ranked in the order of normalized difference vegetation index (61.7%-78.5%, representing leaf area index) > solar altitude angle (15.4%-36.9%) > clearness index (0.4%-36.9%).

RESUMEN

Subject: Perioperative regulation of coagulation function through heparin in patients undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass is an important part of performing cardiac surgery, and postoperative bleeding due to abnormal coagulation function caused by differences in heparin sensitivity in different individuals is an independent risk factor for postoperative complications and death. Method: Using an online database, 10 miRNAs interacting with AT-III and FX genes were predicted. Patients were divided into three groups according to the difference in activated clotting time (ACT) after the first dose of heparin (2.5 mg kg-1): group A: hyposensitive group (ACT < 480 s); group B: sensitive group (480 s ≤ ACT ≤ 760 s); and group C: hypersensitive group (ACT > 760 s). Perioperative and 24 h postoperative blood loss and other clinical data of patients in the three groups were recorded. Blood samples were collected before surgery, and RT-PCR was used to detect the levels of AT-III and FX gene mRNA and the levels of predicted 10 miRNAs. Result: Heparin sensitivity was positively correlated with AT-III mRNA levels and negatively correlated with FX gene mRNA levels in the three groups, and the blood loss in group B was significantly lower than that in groups A and C, which was statistically significant (p < 0.05). miR-3064-5p and miR-4745-5p expression levels were significantly different among group A, group B, and group C (p < 0.05) and were closely correlated with AT-III and FX gene mRNA expression levels, respectively. Conclusion: Differences in heparin sensitivity in patients undergoing cardiac surgery were associated with the mRNA expression of AT-III and FX genes, and the expression levels of miR-3064-5p and miR-4745-5p were found to be closely related to the AT-III and FX gene mRNA, respectively, indicating that miR-3064-5p and miR-4745-5p affect the differences in heparin sensitivity among different individuals by regulating the mRNA expression levels of AT-III and FX genes. RESUMEN

The many-body GW approximation, especially the G0W0 method, has been widely used for condensed matter and molecules to calculate quasiparticle energies for ionization, electron attachment, and band gaps. Because G0W0 calculations are well-known to have a strong dependence on the orbitals, the goal of the present work is to provide guidance on the choice of density functional used to generate orbitals and to recommend a choice that gives the most broadly accurate results. We have systematically investigated the dependence of G0W0 calculations on the orbitals for 100 molecules and 8 crystals by considering orbitals obtained with a diverse set of Kohn-Sham (KS) and generalized KS (GKS) functionals (63 functionals plus Hartree-Fock). The percentage of Hartree-Fock exchange employed in density functionals has been found to have strong influence on the predicted molecular ionization energy and crystal fundamental band gaps (with optimum values between 40 and 56%), but to have less effect on predicting molecular electron affinities. The low cost of the Gaussian implementation, even with hybrid functionals in periodic calculations, the better performance of global hybrids as compared to range-separated hybrids of either than screened exchange or long-range-corrected type, and the relatively low cost of global-hybrid-functional periodic calculations using Gaussians means that one can employ global-hybrid functionals at a very reasonable cost and obtain more accurate band gaps of semiconductors than are obtained by the methods currently widely employed, namely local gradient approximations. We single out three global-hybrid functionals that give especially good results for both molecules (100 in the test set) and crystals (8 in the test set, for all of which our benchmark data are the proper band gap rather than an optical band gap uncorrected for exciton effects).

RESUMEN

The Pan-Third Pole (PTP) region, which encompasses the Eurasian highlands and their surroundings, has experienced unprecedented, accelerated warming during the past decades. This study evaluates the performance of historical simulation runs of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6) in capturing spatial patterns and temporal variations observed over the PTP region for mean and extreme temperatures. In addition, projected changes in temperatures under four Shared Socioeconomic Pathway (SSP) scenarios (SSP1-2.6, SSP2-4.5, SSP3-7.0, and SSP5-8.5) are also reported. Four indices were used to characterize changes in temperature extremes: the annual maximum value of daily maximum temperature (TXx), the annual minimum value of daily minimum temperature (TNn), and indices for the percentage of warm days (TX90p) and warm nights (TN90p). Results indicate that most CMIP6 models generally capture the characteristics of the observed mean and extreme temperatures over the PTP region, but there still are slight cold biases in the Tibetan Plateau. Future changes of mean and extreme temperatures demonstrate that a strong increase will occur for the entire PTP region during the twenty-first century under all four SSP scenarios. Between 2015 and 2099, ensemble area-averaged annual mean temperatures are projected to increase by 1.24 °C/100 year, 3.28 °C/100 year, 5.57 °C/100 year, and 7.40 °C/100 year for the SSP1-2.6, SSP2-4.5, SSP3-7.0, and SSP5-8.5 scenarios, respectively. For TXx and TNn, the most intense warming is projected in Central Asia. The greatest number of projected TX90p and TN90p will occur in the Southeast Asia and Tibetan Plateau, respectively.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Bioactive protein hydrolysates and peptides are believed to help counteract and ameliorate physical fatigue. Fermented soybean protein peptides (FSPPs) were prepared by protease hydrolysis and microbial fermentation. The present study aimed to evaluate the anti-fatigue properties of FSPPs. RESULTS: The forced swimming time in the FSPP group was 35.78% longer than the control group, the oxygen-resistant survival time of the FSPP group was significantly prolonged and the prolongation rate was 31.00%. In addition, FSPPs decreased the lactic acid (LD), blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatine kinase (CK) concentration by 27.47%, 25.93% and 21.70%, respectively, after treatment, while increasing the levels of liver glycogen and muscle glycogen by 93.35% and 67.31%, respectively. FSPPs can significantly increase gut microbiota diversity and regulate the species richness of gut microbiota. The results of real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and western blotting showed that FSPPs activate p-AMPK/PGC1-α and PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathways. CONCLUSION: These results indicate that treatment with FSPPs induces anti-fatigue effects, which may be due to the mediating muscle protein synthesis and participation in skeletal muscle hypertrophy, providing energy for muscle cells. FSPPs may have potential applications in the food industry as functional material additives. © 2021 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMEN

Fine roots play an important role in energy flow and substance cycling in forests. How-ever, the estimates of biomass, production and turnover of fine roots remain large uncertainties, and the mechanism underlying local-scale spatial variation in fine roots is still unclear. In a temperate secondary forest in the Maoer Mountain in Northeast China, we investigated the vertical distribution of fine root biomass and necromass at the 0-100 cm profile and the dynamics, production and turnover rate of fine root in 0-20 cm soil layer. The sequential coring (including the Decision Matrix and the Maximum-Minimum formula) and the ingrowth core (3 cm diameter and 5 cm diameter) were compared in estimating production and turnover rate of fine roots. Forest stand variables that might affect fine roots were also explored. The results showed that 76.8% of fine root biomass and 62.9% of necromass concentrated in the 0-20 cm soil layer, and that both decreased exponentially with increa-sing soil depth. The seasonal variation in both fine root biomass and necromass was not significant in 0-20 cm soil layer, which might be related to the negligible snowfall in winter and the extremely high precipitation in summer. There was no significant difference in the results of the estimated fine root production between two diameter ingrowth cores. After log-transformed, fine root production and turnover rate estimated by the Decision Matrix, the Maximum-Minimum formula and ingrowth cores were significantly different among methods. With the increases of soil nutrient concentrations, fine root biomass/fine root necromass ratio significantly increased, fine root necromass significantly decreased, whereas fine root biomass, productivity, and turnover rate were not related to soil nutrient. There was a significant positive correlation between fine root production and aboveground woody biomass increment in the previous-year but not current-year.

RESUMEN

Crude oil may block soil pores, affect soil water repellency, and change soil water movement. In this study, soil column simulation was used to study the effects of different crude oil pollution levels (0, 0.5%, 1%, 2%, 4%) on the water infiltration processes in loessial soil and aeolian sandy soil. The results showed that soil wetting front speed and infiltration rate of those two soils decreased with increasing crude oil content. The time needed for wetting front reaching the bottom of the soil column was the longest under 4% crude oil polluted soil, which was 4 times and 48 times longer than that of no crude oil polluted soil for loessial soil and aeolian sandy soil, respectively. The cumulative infiltration of loessial soil decreased with increasing crude oil content, while it increased to the max and then decreased as the crude oil content increased in aeolian sandy soil. The cumulative infiltration curves of aeolian sandy soil with high crude oil contents (2% and 4%) presented "up-tail" phenomenon. Kostiakov infiltration model and Philip infiltration model could better fit the infiltration process than Green-Ampt model for loessial soil with different crude oil content. However, the two models could only well fit the infiltration process for aeolian sandy soil with low crude oil content (0, 0.5%, 1%). Crude oil pollution could significantly affect soil water infiltration process, especiall in aeolian sandy soil.
