Within the realm of Gram-negative bacteria, bacteriocins are secreted almost everywhere, and the most representative are colicin and pyocin, which are secreted by Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, respectively. Signal peptides at the amino terminus of bacteriocins or ABC transporters can secrete bacteriocins, which then enter bacteria through cell membrane receptors and exert toxicity. In general, the bactericidal spectrum is usually narrow, killing only the kin or closely related species. Our previous research indicates that YPK_0952 is an effector of the third Type VI secretion system (T6SS-3) in Yersinia pseudotuberculosis. Next, we sought to determine its identity and characterize its toxicity. We found that YPK_0952 (a pyocin-like effector) can achieve intra-species and inter-species competitive advantages through both contact-dependent and contact-independent mechanisms mediated by the T6SS-3 while enhancing the intestinal colonization capacity of Y. pseudotuberculosis. We further identified YPK_0952 as a DNase dependent on Mg2+, Ni2+, Mn2+, and Co2+ bivalent metal ions, and the homologous immune protein YPK_0953 can inhibit its activity. In summary, YPK_0952 exerts toxicity by degrading nucleic acids from competing cells, and YPK_0953 prevents self-attack in Y. pseudotuberculosis.IMPORTANCEBacteriocins secreted by Gram-negative bacteria generally enter cells through specific interactions on the cell surface, resulting in a narrow bactericidal spectrum. First, we identified a new pyocin-like effector protein, YPK_0952, in the third Type VI secretion system (T6SS-3) of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis. YPK_0952 is secreted by T6SS-3 and can exert DNase activity through contact-dependent and contact-independent entry into nearby cells of the same and other species (e.g., Escherichia coli) to help Y. pseudotuberculosis to exert a competitive advantage and promote intestinal colonization. This discovery lays the foundation for an in-depth study of the different effector protein types within the T6SS and their complexity in competing interactions. At the same time, this study provides a new development for the toolbox of toxin/immune pairs for studying Gram-negative bacteriocin translocation.

AIMS: Although much is known about the usefulness of heart failure (HF)-specific instruments for assessing patient well-being, less is known about the value of generic instruments for the measurement of health-related quality of life (HRQL) in HF. The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between the EuroQol 5-dimension 5-level (EQ-5D-5L) visual analogue scale (VAS) and index scores, clinical characteristics, and outcomes in patients with HF and the effect of dapagliflozin on these scores. METHODS AND RESULTS: We performed a patient-level pooled analysis of the DAPA-HF and DELIVER trials, which investigated the effectiveness and safety of dapagliflozin in patients with HF and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and mildly reduced/preserved ejection fraction (HFmrEF/HFpEF), respectively. Patients reporting higher (better) EQ-5D-5L VAS and index scores had a lower prevalence of comorbidities, including atrial fibrillation and hypertension, than patients with a worse score. They were also more likely to have better investigator-reported (New York Heart Association class) and patient-self-reported (Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire) health status and lower median N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide levels. Compared to patients with the lowest scores (Q1), those with higher EQ-5D-5L VAS scores had better outcomes: the hazard ratio for the composite of cardiovascular death or worsening HF was 0.81 (95% confidence interval 0.72-0.91) in Q2, 0.74 (0.65-0.84) in Q3, and 0.62 (0.54-0.72) in Q4. The risk of each component of the composite outcome, and all-cause death, was also lower in patients with better scores. Similar findings were observed for the index score. Treatment with dapagliflozin improved both EQ-5D-5L VAS and index scores across the range of ejection fraction. CONCLUSIONS: Both higher (better) EQ-5D-5L VAS and index scores were associated with better outcomes. Dapagliflozin treatment improved EQ-5D-5L VAS and index scores, irrespective of ejection fraction.

Vaccination is a public health cornerstone that protects against numerous infectious diseases. Despite its benefits, immunization implications on ocular health warrant thorough investigation, particularly in the context of vaccine-induced ocular inflammation. This review aimed to elucidate the complex interplay between vaccination and the eye, focusing on the molecular and immunological pathways implicated in vaccine-associated ocular adverse effects. Through an in-depth analysis of recent advancements and the existing literature, we explored various mechanisms of vaccine-induced ocular inflammation, such as direct infection by live attenuated vaccines, immune complex formation, adjuvant-induced autoimmunity, molecular mimicry, hypersensitivity reactions, PEG-induced allergic reactions, Type 1 IFN activation, free extracellular RNA, and specific components. We further examined the specific ocular conditions associated with vaccination, such as uveitis, optic neuritis, and retinitis, and discussed the potential impact of novel vaccines, including those against SARS-CoV-2. This review sheds light on the intricate relationships between vaccination, the immune system, and ocular tissues, offering insights into informed discussions and future research directions aimed at optimizing vaccine safety and ophthalmological care. Our analysis underscores the importance of vigilance and further research to understand and mitigate the ocular side effects of vaccines, thereby ensuring the continued success of vaccination programs, while preserving ocular health.

BACKGROUND: Kidney dysfunction often leads to reluctance to start or continue life-saving heart failure (HF) therapy. OBJECTIVES: This study sought to examine the efficacy and safety of mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRAs) in patients with HF with reduced ejection fraction experiencing significant kidney dysfunction. METHODS: We pooled individual patient data from the RALES (Randomized Aldactone Evaluation Study) and EMPHASIS-HF (Eplerenone in Mild Patients Hospitalization and Survival Study in Heart Failure) trials. The association between MRA treatment and outcomes was assessed according to whether the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) declined to <30 mL/min/1.73 m2 or not. The primary outcome was cardiovascular death or HF hospitalization. RESULTS: Among 4,355 patients included, 295 (6.8%) experienced a deterioration of eGFR after randomization to <30 mL/min/1.73 m2. These patients had more impaired baseline cardiac and kidney function (eGFR 47.3 ± 13.4 mL/min/1.73 m2 vs 70.5 ± 21.8 mL/min/1.73 m2) and had a higher risk of the primary outcome than patients without eGFR deterioration (HR: 2.49; 95% CI: 2.01-3.08; P < 0.001). However, the risk reduction in the primary outcome with MRA therapy was similar in those who experienced a decrease in eGFR to <30 mL/min/1.73 m2 (HR: 0.65; 95% CI: 0.43-0.99) compared with those who did not (HR: 0.63; 95% CI: 0.56-0.71) (Pinteraction = 0.87). In patients with a decrease in eGFR to <30 mL/min/1.73 m2, 21 fewer individuals (per 100 person-years) experienced the primary outcome with MRA treatment, vs placebo, compared with an excess of 3 more patients with severe hyperkalemia (>6.0 mmol/L). CONCLUSIONS: Because patients experiencing a decrease in eGFR to <30 mL/min/1.73 m2 are at very high risk, the absolute risk reduction with an MRA in these patients is large and this decline in eGFR should not automatically lead to treatment discontinuation.

Win statistics offer a new approach to the analysis of outcomes in clinical trials, allowing the combination of time-to-event and longitudinal measurements and taking into account the clinical importance of the components of composite outcomes, as well as their relative timing. We examined this approach in a post hoc analysis of two trials that compared dapagliflozin to placebo in patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction (DAPA-HF) and mildly reduced or preserved ejection fraction (DELIVER). The effect of dapagliflozin on a hierarchical composite kidney outcome was assessed, including the following: (1) all-cause mortality; (2) end-stage kidney disease; (3) a decline in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) of ≥57%; (4) a decline in eGFR of ≥50%; (5) a decline in eGFR of ≥40%; and (6) participant-level eGFR slope. For this outcome, the win ratio was 1.10 (95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.06-1.15) in the combined dataset, 1.08 (95% CI = 1.01-1.16) in the DAPA-HF trial and 1.12 (95% CI = 1.05-1.18) in the DELIVER trial; that is, dapagliflozin was superior to placebo in both trials. The benefits of treatment were consistent in participants with and without baseline kidney disease, and with and without type 2 diabetes. In heart failure trials, win statistics may provide the statistical power to evaluate the effect of treatments on kidney as well as cardiovascular outcomes.

BACKGROUND: To investigate serum irisin levels in girls at different developmental status and explore the significance of irisin for the diagnosis of central precocious puberty (CPP) in girls. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study 111 girls were enrolled, including 43 cases of CPP, 44 cases of peripheral precocious puberty (PPP) and 24 cases of girls with normal sexual development as controls. The data on age, weight and height, measured blood levels of luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), estradiol, and irisin were collected. Pelvic Doppler ultrasound was performed to evaluate uterine length, transverse diameter, anteroposterior diameter. The girls were divided into non-CPP group and CPP group according to gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) stimulation test. RESULTS: Serum irisin levels were significantly higher in CPP group than in PPP group and normal control group. Serum irisin level was positively correlated with basal LH level, basal FSH level, peak LH level, peak LH /FSH ratio, uterine volume, bone age, and bone age index. The area under the curve, cut-off value, sensitivity and specificity of serum irisin were 0.958, 219.255 pg/ml, 100% and 80.6%. The combined diagnosis of CPP in girls by serum irisin and serum basal LH combined with uterine volume had an AUC, sensitivity, and specificity of 0.994, 97.6%, and 100%, superior to that of the single index. CONCLUSIONS: Serum irisin level in girls with CPP is significantly increased. An irisin combined index could help the diagnosis of CPP in girls.

AIMS: Patients with heart failure (HF) and preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) have a particularly high prevalence of comorbidities, often necessitating treatment with many medications. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between polypharmacy status and outcomes in PARAGON-HF. METHODS AND RESULTS: In this post hoc analysis, baseline medication status was available in 4793 of 4796 patients included in the primary analysis of PARAGON-HF. The effects of sacubitril/valsartan, compared with valsartan, were assessed according to the number of medications at baseline: 683 non-polypharmacy (<5 medications); 2750 polypharmacy (5-9 medications), and 1360 hyper-polypharmacy (≥10 medications). The primary outcome was total HF hospitalizations and cardiovascular deaths. Patients with hyper-polypharmacy were older, had more severe limitations due to HF (worse New York Heart Association class and Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire scores), and had greater comorbidity. The non-adjusted risk of the primary outcome was significantly higher in patients taking more medications, and similar trends were seen for HF hospitalization and cardiovascular and all-cause death. The effect of sacubitril/valsartan versus valsartan on the primary outcome from the lowest to highest polypharmacy category was (as a rate ratio): 1.19 (0.76-1.85), 0.94 (0.77-1.15), and 0.77 (0.61-0.96) (pinteraction = 0.16). Treatment-related adverse events were more common in patients in the higher polypharmacy categories but not more common with sacubitril/valsartan, versus valsartan, in any polypharmacy category. CONCLUSIONS: Polypharmacy is very common in patients with HFpEF, and those with polypharmacy have worse clinical status and a higher rate of non-fatal and fatal outcomes. The benefit of sacubitril/valsartan was not diminished in patients taking a larger number of medications at baseline.

To investigate the effects of fertilization methods and types on wheat rhizosphere microorganisms, macroelement (N, K) and microelement (Zn) fertilizers were applied on wheat by foliar spraying (FS) and root irrigation (RI) methods in a field experiment. The results indicated that fertilization methods and types can have significant impacts on the diversity and structure of rhizospheric microorganisms in wheat. The application method produced more significant effects than the fertilizer type. RI-N played a more important role in improving the wheat yield and quality and affected the changes in some nitrogen-fixing bacterial communities. Finally, eight strains of bacteria belonging to Pseudomonas azotoformans and P. cedrina showed positive effects on the growth of wheat seedlings. Overall, our study provides a better understanding of the dynamics of wheat rhizosphere microbial communities and their relation to fertilization, yield, and quality, showing that plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria with nitrogen fixing may be a potential approach for more sustainable agriculture production.

BACKGROUND: SHEN26, an oral broad-spectrum antiviral drug, possesses potent preclinical activity against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and has a favorable safety profile. METHODS: We report safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic data from a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase I study of SHEN26. Eighty-six healthy subjects were enrolled in the three studies: a single ascending-dose study (SAD), a multiple ascending-dose study (MAD), and a food-effect study (FE). RESULTS: In the SAD trial, the maximum observed plasma concentration (Cmax) and area under the curve (AUC) of the SHEN26 rapid metabolite SHEN26-69-0 increased approximately dose-proportionally in the 50-400 mg fasting dose range. In the 800 mg dose group, standard meals increased the Cmax and AUC of SHEN26-69-0. In the MAD trial, the accumulation ratios of Cmax and AUC indicated slight accumulation upon repeated SHEN26 dosing. In the FE trial, a high-fat meal prolonged the time to maximum plasma concentration (Tmax) and increased the Cmax and AUC of SHEN26-69-0 compared with fasting administration. Most treatment-related adverse events were mild and resolved without treatment. CONCLUSION: SHEN26 demonstrated satisfactory safety and tolerability in healthy subjects, which supports the continued study of SHEN26 against SARS-CoV-2. Biological macromolecules identified in albumen were found benefit to intestinal health, whether albumen contains exosomes and function of their cargos in intestinal inflammation remain unknown. This study aimed to investigate characteristics and cargos of albumen exosomes, as well as their potential roles in alleviating inflammation in intestinal epithelial cells. Our results demonstrated that albumen contains exosomes that are cup-shaped morphology vesicles with diameter ranging from 50 to 200 nm. There were 278 miRNAs and 45 proteins with higher expression levels in albumen exosomes, and they were mainly involved in immune responses and programmed cell death pathways, including apoptosis and p53 signaling pathway. LPS induced overexpression of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1ß and TNF-α and excessive apoptosis, which could be reversed by albumen exosomes. The beneficial effects of exosomes could be mainly attributed to miRNA cargos and their inhibition on inflammatory response signaling pathways (p53 and NF-κB pathways). Mechanically, exosome miR-22 targeted ATM and inhibited p53/NF-κB pathway, alleviating LPS-induced overexpression of Caspase-3 and Bax, and inflammatory response. Collectively, albumen exosomes alleviate inflammation of intestinal epithelial cells via miR-22/ATM/p53/NF-κB axis and these findings may provide theoretical basis to the potential application of albumen exosomes for intestinal inflammation.

Human T-cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV-1), a virus that affects 5-10 million people globally, causes several diseases, including adult T-cell leukemia-lymphoma and HTLV-1-associated uveitis (HU). HU is prevalent in Japan and often leads to secondary glaucoma, which is a serious complication. We investigated the efficacy of ripasudil, a Rho-associated coiled coil-forming protein kinase inhibitor, in alleviating changes in human trabecular meshwork cells (hTM cells) infected with HTLV-1. HTLV-1-infected hTM cells were modeled in vitro using MT-2 cells, followed by treatment with varying concentrations of ripasudil. We assessed changes in cell morphology, viability, and inflammatory cytokine levels, as well as NF-κB activation. The results showed that ripasudil treatment changed the cell morphology, reduced the distribution of F-actin and fibronectin, and decreased the levels of certain inflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin (IL)-6, IL-8, and IL-12. However, ripasudil did not significantly affect NF-κB activation or overall cell viability. These findings suggest that ripasudil has the potential to treat secondary glaucoma in patients with HU by modulating cytoskeletal organization and alleviating inflammation in HTLV-1-infected hTM cells. This study lays the foundation for further clinical studies exploring the effectiveness of ripasudil for the treatment of secondary glaucoma associated with HU.

It is known that the actin cytoskeleton and its associated cellular interactions in the trabecular meshwork (TM) and juxtacanalicular tissues mainly contribute to the formation of resistance to aqueous outflow of the eye. Fibulin-3, encoded by EFEMP1 gene, has a role in extracellular matrix (ECM) modulation, and interacts with enzymatic ECM regulators, but the effects of fibulin-3 on TM cells has not been explored. Here, we report a stop codon variant (c.T1480C, p.X494Q) of EFEMP1 that co-segregates with primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) in a Chinese pedigree. In the human TM cells, overexpression of wild-type fibulin-3 reduced intracellular actin stress fibers formation and the extracellular fibronectin levels by inhibiting Rho/ROCK signaling. TGFß1 up-regulated fibulin-3 protein levels in human TM cells by activating Rho/ROCK signaling. In rat eyes, overexpression of wild-type fibulin-3 decreased the intraocular pressure and the fibronectin expression of TM, however, overexpression of mutant fibulin-3 (c.T1480C, p.X494Q) showed opposite effects in cells and rat eyes. Taken together, the EFEMP1 variant may impair the regulatory capacity of fibulin-3 which has a role for modulating the cell contractile activity and ECM synthesis in TM cells, and in turn may maintain normal resistance of aqueous humor outflow. This study contributes to the understanding of the important role of fibulin-3 in TM pathophysiology and provides a new possible POAG therapeutic approach.

Instrument-tissue interaction detection task, which helps understand surgical activities, is vital for constructing computer-assisted surgery systems but with many challenges. Firstly, most models represent instrument-tissue interaction in a coarse-grained way which only focuses on classification and lacks the ability to automatically detect instruments and tissues. Secondly, existing works do not fully consider relations between intra-and inter-frame of instruments and tissues. In the paper, we propose to represent instrument-tissue interaction as ⟨instrument class, instrument bounding box, tissue class, tissue bounding box, action class⟩ quintuple and present an Instrument-Tissue Interaction Detection Network (ITIDNet) to detect the quintuple for surgery videos understanding. Specifically, we propose a Snippet Consecutive Feature (SCF) Layer to enhance features by modeling relationships of proposals in the current frame using global context information in the video snippet. We also propose a Spatial Corresponding Attention (SCA) Layer to incorporate features of proposals between adjacent frames through spatial encoding. To reason relationships between instruments and tissues, a Temporal Graph (TG) Layer is proposed with intra-frame connections to exploit relationships between instruments and tissues in the same frame and inter-frame connections to model the temporal information for the same instance. For evaluation, we build a cataract surgery video (PhacoQ) dataset and a cholecystectomy surgery video (CholecQ) dataset. Experimental results demonstrate the promising performance of our model, which outperforms other state-of-the-art models on both datasets.

Background: Patients with heart failure (HF) with mildly reduced or preserved ejection fraction in Asia may have different clinical characteristics and outcomes compared with patients from other parts of the world. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical characteristics, safety, and efficacy of dapagliflozin in patients in Asia vs outside Asia in the DELIVER (Dapagliflozin Evaluation to Improve the Lives of Patients with Preserved Ejection Fraction Heart Failure) trial. Methods: In the DELIVER trial, patients with HF and left ventricular ejection fraction >40% were enrolled across 353 sites in 20 countries. The effects of dapagliflozin vs placebo on primary (composite of worsening HF or cardiovascular death) and secondary outcomes were compared in patients from Asia vs outside Asia. Results: Among 6,263 participants, 1,226 (19.6%) were enrolled in Asia. Participants from Asia were less likely to have diabetes, hypertension, history of myocardial infarction, or obesity. After adjusting for clinically relevant characteristics, those in Asia had similar risks of primary composite outcome compared with those from outside Asia (HR: 0.97; 95% CI: 0.82-1.15). Those in Asia had a lower risk of all-cause mortality compared with those enrolled outside Asia (HR: 0.54; 95% CI: 0.44-0.66). Enrollment from Asia did not modify the effect of dapagliflozin on the primary outcome (Pinteraction = 0.54). Serious adverse events and rates of drug discontinuation were also balanced in both treatment arms, irrespective of enrollment in Asia vs outside Asia. Conclusions: In the global DELIVER trial, dapagliflozin reduced the risk of CV death or worsening HF events and was well tolerated among participants enrolled in both Asia and other geographic regions.

The type VI secretion system (T6SS) is a bacterial weapon capable of delivering antibacterial effectors to kill competing cells for interference competition, as well as secreting metal ion scavenging effectors to acquire essential micronutrients for exploitation competition. However, no T6SS effectors that can mediate both interference competition and exploitation competition have been reported. In this study, we identified a unique T6SS-1 effector in Yersinia pseudotuberculosis named TepC, which plays versatile roles in microbial communities. First, secreted TepC acts as a proteinaceous siderophore that binds to iron and mediates exploitative competition. Additionally, we discovered that TepC has DNase activity, which gives it both contact-dependent and contact-independent interference competition abilities. In conditions where iron is limited, the iron-loaded TepC is taken up by target cells expressing the outer membrane receptor TdsR. For kin cells encoding the cognate immunity protein TipC, TepC facilitates iron acquisition, and its toxic effects are neutralized. On the other hand, nonkin cells lacking TipC are enticed to uptake TepC and are killed by its DNase activity. Therefore, we have uncovered a T6SS effector, TepC, that functions like a "Trojan horse" by binding to iron ions to provide a valuable resource to kin cells, whereas punishing cheaters that do not produce public goods. This lure-to-kill mechanism, mediated by a bifunctional T6SS effector, may offer new insights into the molecular mechanisms that maintain stability in microbial communities.

Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae (Psa) is a significant pathogenic bacterium affecting the kiwifruit industry. This study investigated the target sites of streptothricin-F (ST-F), produced by Streptomyces lavendulae gCLA4. The inhibition of ST-F on Psa was examined by the microscopic structural differences of Psa before and after treatment with ST-F, as well as the interaction between ST-F and cell division-related proteins. The results revealed filamentation of Psa after ST-F treatment, and fluorescence microscopy showed that ST-F inhibited the formation of the Z-ring composed of FtsZ protein. In vitro experiments and molecular docking demonstrated that ST-F can bind to FtsZ with a binding energy of 0.4 µM and inhibit FtsZ's GTP-dependent polymerization reaction. In addition, ST-F does not exert inhibitory effects on cell division in Psa strains overexpressing ftsZ. In conclusion, FtsZ is one of the target sites for ST-F inhibition of Psa, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target for controlling Psa-induced kiwifruit bacterial canker.

Nanomedicines have been approved to treat multiple human diseases. However, clinical adoption of nanoformulated agents is often hindered by concerns about hepatic uptake and clearance, a process that is not fully understood. Here we show that the antitumour efficacy of cancer nanomedicine exhibits an age-associated disparity. Tumour delivery and treatment outcomes are superior in old versus young mice, probably due to an age-related decline in the ability of hepatic phagocytes to take up and remove nanoparticles. Transcriptomic- and protein-level analysis at the single-cell and bulk levels reveals an age-associated decrease in the numbers of hepatic macrophages that express the scavenger receptor MARCO in mice, non-human primates and humans. Therapeutic blockade of MARCO is shown to decrease the phagocytic uptake of nanoparticles and improve the antitumour effect of clinically approved cancer nanotherapeutics in young but not aged mice. Together, these results reveal an age-associated disparity in the phagocytic clearance of nanotherapeutics that affects their antitumour response, thus providing a strong rationale for an age-appropriate approach to cancer nanomedicine.

Heat stress is a major abiotic stress that can cause serious losses of a crop. Our previous work identified a gene involved in heat stress tolerance in wheat, TaPLC1-2B. To further investigate its mechanisms, in the present study, TaPLC1-2B RNAi-silenced transgenic wheat and the wild type were comparatively analyzed at both the seedling and adult stages, with or without heat stress, using transcriptome sequencing. A total of 15,549 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified at the adult stage and 20,535 DEGs were detected at the seedling stage. After heat stress, an enrichment of pathways such as phytohormones and mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling was mainly found in the seedling stage, and pathways related to metabolism, glycerophospholipid metabolism, circadian rhythms, and ABC transporter were enriched in the adult stage. Auxin and abscisic acid were downregulated in the seedling stage and vice versa in the adult stage; and the MYB, WRKY, and no apical meristem gene families were downregulated in the seedling stage in response to heat stress and upregulated in the adult stage in response to heat stress. This study deepens our understanding of the mechanisms of TaPLC1-2B in regard to heat stress in wheat at the seedling and adult stages.

The plant core microbiota transmitted by seeds have been demonstrated to exist in seeds and adult plants of several crops for multiple generations. They are closely related to plants and are relatively conserved throughout evolution, domestication, and breeding. These microbiota play a vital role in the early stages of plant growth. However, information about their colonization routes, transmission pathways, and final fate remains fragmentary. This review delves into the concept of these microbiota, their colonization sources, transmission pathways, and how they change throughout plant evolution, domestication, and breeding, as well as their effects on plants, based on relevant literature. Finally, the significant potential of incorporating the practical application of seed-transmitted microbiota into plant microbial breeding is emphasized.

Rapid serial visual presentation (RSVP) is a type of psychological visual stimulation experimental paradigm that requires participants to identify target stimuli presented continuously in a stream of stimuli composed of numbers, letters, words, images, and so on at the same spatial location, allowing them to discern a large amount of information in a short period of time. The RSVP-based brain-computer interface (BCI) can not only be widely used in scenarios such as assistive interaction and information reading, but also has the advantages of stability and high efficiency, which has become one of the common techniques for human-machine intelligence fusion. In recent years, brain-controlled spellers, image recognition and mind games are the most popular fields of RSVP-BCI research. Therefore, aiming to provide reference and new ideas for RSVP-BCI related research, this paper reviewed the paradigm design and system performance optimization of RSVP-BCI in these three fields. It also looks ahead to its potential applications in cutting-edge fields such as entertainment, clinical medicine, and special military operations.
