RESUMEN

A selective and sensitive fluorescence method for hypochlorite (ClO-) was designed using glutathione (GSH) modified silicon-doped carbon quantum dots (GSH@Si-CDs). Then a dual emission ratio fluorescence probe (RF-probe) was obtained based on carbodiimide-activated coupling reaction between GSH and Si-CDs. i.e., when the excitation wavelength was kept at 360 nm, the GSH@Si-CDs exhibited strong blue and weak yellow fluorescence at 430 and 580 nm. Meanwhile, the fluorescence of GSH@Si-CDs could be selectively quenched at 430 nm and enhanced at 580 nm in the presence of ClO-, and corresponding limit of detection (LOD) and linear range were measured to be 0.35 µM and 1.0-33.3 µM. The sensing mechanism of the system was also investigated in detail. Moreover, the RF-probe with good accuracy was successfully employed to monitor ClO- in real samples with satisfactory results compared to the standard iodometric method.

RESUMEN

Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is a condition characterized by menstrual disturbance, subfertility, and estrogen deficiency symptoms. Women with POI have a small chance of natural conception, which may be even smaller when complicated with unilateral ovarian due to reduction of the ovarian follicular reserve. In China, acupuncture has been widely used to treat POI and POI-induced infertility, and studies have shown that acupuncture is helpful for improving ovarian function. Thread-embedding therapy is a method of acupuncture treatment development and extension, which can make the acupuncture effect last. In this article, we report a patient diagnosed with POI after unilateral oophorectomy (UO) who spontaneously conceived after thread-embedding therapy. Thread-embedding therapy may improve ovarian function in patients with POI, thereby providing a treatment strategy for infertility in patients with POI. This case report was written in accordance with the CARE guidelines.

RESUMEN

In this study, a novel double-emission fluorescence probe at 340 and 400 nm was synthesized by one-pot method using phenylalanine (Phe) and ascorbic acid (AA) as stabilizing and reducing agents. It was found that the fluorescence intensity of the probe at 400 nm could be controlled by controlling the temperature within a certain range, and the ratio of double-emission fluorescence probe could be further regulated. Under the optimal conditions, the fluorescence intensity at 340 nm decreased significantly, while it only showed a slight decrease at 400 nm, which constituted the ratio fluorescence probe. The synthesized fluorescence probe showed good linearity in the range of 0.2-32 µM, and its detection limit was 63.4 nM. Moreover, the method was successfully employed to determine VA in vanilla drink and perfumes, and corresponding results were consistent with those of HPLC.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: To compare the effect of different frequency of acupoint thread-embedding on weight loss in subjects with overweight/obesity of spleen deficiency and dampness retention. METHODS: A total of 126 subjects with overweight/obesity of spleen deficiency and dampness retention were randomized into a 2-week group(63 cases, 13 cases dropped out)and a 3-week group(63 cases, 11 cases dropped out, 1 case was eliminated). The two groups were treated with acupoint thread-embedding once every 2 weeks and once every 3 weeks respectively, Zhongwan(CV 12), Shuifen(CV 9), Qihai(CV 6), Guanyuan(CV 4) and bilateral Zhangmen(LR 13), Tianshu(ST 25), Liangmen(ST 21), Daheng(SP 15), Fujie(SP 14), Pishu(BL 20), Yinlingquan(SP 9)were selected. Four times were required in the two groups. Before and after treatment, follow-up after 2 months of treatment completion, the body mass index(BMI), body weight, waist circumference, hip circumference, waist-to-hip ratio, obesity degree, fat percentage(F%), skin fold thickness were observed in the two groups. RESULTS: After treatment and in follow-up, the BMI, body weight, waist circumference, hip circumference, waist-to-hip ratio, obesity degree, F%, skin fold thickness in the two groups were decreased compared with those before treatment (P<0.001, P<0.01), the changes of BMI, body weight, obesity degree, F%, skin fold thickness in the 2-week group were larger than those in the 3-week group(P<0.05, P<0.01, P<0.001). CONCLUSIONS: The effect of acupoint thread-embedding once every 2 weeks on weight loss in subjects with overweight/obesity of spleen deficiency and dampness retention is superior to that once every 3 weeks.

RESUMEN

In this article, the water-soluble blue-light-emitting copper nanoclusters (CuNCs) were prepared by polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and ascorbic acid as templating and reducing agents, respectively. The optimization of synthesis conditions of PVP-CuNCs were studied and analyzed. And the quantum yield of the PVP-CuNCs was calculated to be 14.97%. It had good specificity and exceptionally sensitive detection for sodium dichloroisocyanurate (DCCNa)/rosmarinic acid (RA), with a linear response range of 0.030-2.400/0.030-0.900 µM and corresponding LOD value of 10.766/8.985 nM. Moreover, the fluorescent reaction mechanisms of the PVP-CuNCs-DCCNa and PVP-CuNCs-DCCNa-RA systems were discussed, and the sensing probe could be effectively used for the assays of DCCNa and RA in genuine samples, whose results were acceptable.

RESUMEN

INTRODUCTION: Ischemic stroke has high morbidity, disability and mortality rates. The effective treatments recommended by guideline have considerable limitations due to their strict range of adaptation and narrow time window. Acupuncture is an effective and safe treatment for ischemic stroke, and the mechanism may be related to autophagy. In this systematic review, we aim to summarize and evaluate the evidence of autophagy in acupuncture therapy for animal models of middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). METHODS: Publications will be retrieved from the MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI, CBM, CVIP and Wanfang databases. We will include animal experimental studies of acupuncture for MCAO, and the control group will receive placebo/sham acupuncture or no treatment after model establishment. Outcome measures must include autophagy and will include neurologic scores and/or infarct size. The Systematic Review Center for Laboratory animal Experimentation (SYRCLE) risk of bias tool will be used to assess the risk of bias. A meta-analysis will be performed if the included studies are sufficiently homogenous. Subgroup analyses will be conducted according to different intervention types and different types of outcomes. Sensitivity analyses will also performed to explore the heterogeneity and to assess the stability of the results. Publication bias will be assessed by funnel plots. The Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) system will be applied to evaluate the quality of evidence in this systematic review. DISCUSSION: The results of this study may help to explain autophagy in acupuncture therapy for ischemic stroke. The limitation of this review is that all included studies will be retrieved from Chinese or English medical databases due to language barriers. REGISTRATION: We registered in PROSPERO on May 31, 2022. (https://www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO/display_record.php?RecordID=329917) (CRD42022329917).

RESUMEN

INTRODUCTION: Mixed urinary incontinence (MUI) is a coexistence of both urgency urinary incontinence and stress urinary incontinence. Medical, Epidemiologic, and Social aspects of Aging (MESA) questionnaire is a validated and commonly used tool to diagnose predominant components of it and assess the severity, which can offer help in clinic. However, MESA questionnaire is still not available in China. The aim of the study is to translate English MESA questionnaire into a Chinese version, adapt it in Chinese culture, and validate the measurement properties among female patients with MUI and urgency-predominant MUI. METHODS: MESA questionnaire will be translated and culturally adapted in China. The validation will be embedded in a multicentered randomized controlled trial targeted at women with urgency-predominant MUI. Apart from MESA questionnaire, 3 groups of patients are to receive clinical extended assessment, keep 3-day voiding diary, and complete International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Short Form to evaluate the measurement properties of reliability and validity (internal consistence, test-retest reliability, construct validity, and responsiveness). DISCUSSION: If MESA questionnaire is of relatively high reliability and validity in diagnosing subtypes of MUI and assessing the severity, it can help to choose more appropriate therapy for patients and simplify the workload of clinicians. RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is the downward descent of vaginal walls, affecting the health of 32% to 76% female patients. Conservative interventions are considered as priority before seeking help from surgery. We plan to make the systematic review to assess the effectiveness of conservative intervention for adult women with POP. METHODS: Studies will be searched in PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library from inception to July 2017. Primary outcomes are specific POP-related symptom, severity of prolapse, Prolapse-related, and general health-related quality of life and other non-POP-specific symptoms. RESULTS: The data will be synthesized if possible using MD, SMD or RR. A descriptive analysis will be made if the data cannot be synthesized. DISCUSSION: The systematic review might provide solid evidence for the treatment of POP by conservative intervention.

RESUMEN

This study was conducted to evaluate recipients' perception of service quality, satisfaction, and behavioral intention in home delivered meals program in the US. Out of 398 questionnaires, 265 (66.6%) were collected, and 209 questionnaires (52.5%) were used for the statistical analysis. A Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) with a maximum likelihood was first conducted to estimate the measurement model by verifying the underlying structure of constructs. The level of internal consistency in each construct was acceptable, with Cronbach's alpha estimates ranging from 0.7 to 0.94. All of the composite reliabilities of the constructs were over the cutoff value of 0.50, ensuring adequate internal consistency of multiple items for each construct. As a second step, a Meals-On-Wheels (MOW) recipient perception model was estimated. The model's fit as indicated by these indexes was satisfactory and path coefficients were analyzed. Two paths between (1) volunteer issues and behavioral intention and (2) responsiveness and behavioral intention were not significant. The path for predicting a positive relationship between food quality and satisfaction was supported. The results show that having high food quality may create recipient satisfaction. The findings suggest that food quality and responsiveness are significant predictors of positive satisfaction. Moreover, satisfied recipients have positive behavioral intention toward MOW programs.
