RESUMEN

Context: Shenyu Ningshen (SYNS) tablet is the first pure Chinese medicinal small compound preparation approved for clinical trials for the treatment of depression in China. Clinical experiments confirmed that the formulation had a significant Improvement effect against depression due to the deficiency of both qi and yin. It has been shown to exhibit noticeable anti-inflammatory effect in an animal model of depression. Our previous study showed that SYNS could effectively inhibit the inflammatory response in a depression model. Aim of the study: The purpose of this study was to investigate the protective effects of SYNS on neurons and explore whether the underlying mechanism was associated with A1s. Materials and methods: The depression model of solitary raising-chronic restraint stress (CRS) rats was established; body weight examination, sugar water preference test, open field test, and histological analysis were performed to preliminarily verify the efficacy of the formulation. Subsequently, neuronal nucleus (NeuN) and synaptic-associated proteins (MAP2 and PSD95) were labeled, and the protective effect of SYNS on hippocampal neurons was observed based on the fluorescence intensity of the above indicators. Western blotting, histological examination, and immunofluorescence were used to evaluate the inhibitory effects of SYNS on neuroinflammation and activation of A1s in CRS depression model. Results: SYNS improved behavioral indicators such as weight loss, pleasure loss, and reduced exercise volume in CRS rat model. SYNS restored the CRS-induced histopathological changes in the hippocampus. SYNS showed a certain degree of protective effect on synapses. Further, SYNS inhibited the activation of A1s by inhibiting neuroinflammatory factors in the hippocampus. Conclusion: Our results showed that SYNS had a certain degree of neuroprotective effect, which might be related to its inhibition of the inflammatory response and A1s.

RESUMEN

Allopurinol, a drug commonly used for treating gout and hyperuricemia, is a frequent cause of drug eruptions. Recent investigations suggest that HLA-BFNx015801 allele is a very strong marker for allopurinol-induced cutaneous adverse drug reactions (cADRs). In this article we report two cases of allopurinol-induced drug eruptions in patients carrying the HLA-BFNx015801 allele and review the literature on the association between HLA-BFNx015801 and allopurinol-induced cADRs based on a MEDLINE and PubMed search.

RESUMEN

We present a case of PNP associated with Castleman's Disease. We have also reviewed the literature and described the characteristics of the two associated diseases. Gene clonal rearrangement was done to help diagnosis. We used, in addition, stereotactic radiosurgery which, as far as we know, has never before been employed to treat PNP associated with Castleman's Disease. This produced a good response, suggesting that it might be a good alternative treatment for PNP associated with Castleman's Disease when it is too difficult to operate.

A healthy 28-year-old man presented with a 3 month history of multiple papules on the penis that was confirmed as bowenoid papulosis by biopsy. He declined any therapy, but complete resolution was noted 3 months later without any intervention.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To identify two types of Pogostemon cablin (Guang Huoxiang), Shipai Huoxiang and Hainan Huoxiang. METHOD: Morphological and microscopical methods. RESULTS: Long bag-like glandular hairs with one-cell head existing in the intercellular space are found in the cortex of stems, mesophyll and parenchyma of midrib. The glandular hairs with special large one-cell head and with a special short and small one-cell stalk, flat bag-like cuticle above secretory cell are caved in the forms of square, triangle, convex len and round-oids are also found in the surface of leaves and stems. The primary pholem fiber bundles with very thick walls are uncontinuous and arranged with a circle in the transverse section of stems; the perimedullary cells contain needle and prism crystals. Above-mentioned characters are differed from other plants of Labiate family. The old stems are cylinderoid forms, branch angles are usually smaller than 60 degrees, the surface of upper, middle stems and young leaves with purple colour are unusual, the palisade ratio are less than 10(5.05 and 9.26 cultivated seperatedly in Guangzhou and Gaoyao), in Shipai Huoxiang. But in Hainan Huoxiang, the old stems are rectangular cylinder, branch angles are usually over 60 degrees, the surface of upper, middle stems and young leaves are commonly purple colour, the palisade ratio are over 10(14.35, 13.18, 13.84 and 14.33 cultivated separatedlly in Wuchuan, Suixi, Leizhou and Hainan). CONCLUSION: Above-mentioned characters may distinguish two types of Pogostemon cablin, Shipai Huoxiang and Hainan Houxiang.
