Lead-free low-dimensional organic-inorganic metal halides have gained increasing attention in a wide range of applications due to their low toxicity, outstanding optical performance, and structural tunability. In this work, a general method of incorporating organic molecule into sodium antimony bromides is introduced. The 1D Na3SbBr6(C2H6OS)6 and Na3SbBr6(C4H8OS)6 single crystals exhibit bright yellow and orange emission with PL peaks at 610 and 664 nm, and high photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQYs) of 85% and 60%, respectively. These two compounds can be reversibly converted into each other by the removal and addition of the organic components. Their exceptional luminescent performance enables them to be used as solid-state phosphors for the fabrication of yellow and orange down-conversion LEDs. A white LED with a high color rendering index (CRI) of 95 is also fabricated by using Na3SbBr6(C2H6OS)6 as the yellow phosphor. The universality of this method is demonstrated by synthesizing other members of this family with diverse A-groups, including methylammonium (MA) and formamidinium (FA). This work provides an effective strategy for the development of diverse lead-free and high-performance organic-inorganic hybrid materials and indicates these organic-inorganic hybrid compounds are promising luminescent materials for lighting or displays.

Objective: To explore the correlations between diabetic nephropathy (DN) and serum levels of glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4), acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4 (ACSL4), iron, transferrin (Tf), and ferritin in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods: According to the urinary albumin excretion rate(UAER) or estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) levels, a total of 123 patients with T2DM were separately divided into normoalbuminuria (NO), microalbuminuria (MI), macroalbuminuria (MA) groups, and G1 (eGFR ≥ 90 mL/min), G2 (eGFR ≤ 60 mL/min to < 90 mL/min), and G3 groups (eGFR< 60 mL/min), with 33 healthy participants as the control (HC). The differences in serum GPX4, ACSL4, iron, Tf, and ferritin levels between groups were compared, and the relationships between these levels were analysed. The independent correlations between UAER or DN severity and serum GPX4, ACSL4, iron, Tf, and ferritin levels were analysed by multiple linear and multinomial logistic regression, respectively. Results: To the patients with T2DM, with the increase in UAER levels, GPX4, iron, and Tf levels gradually decreased, whereas ACSL4 levels increased, meanwhile with the decrease in eGFR levels, GPX4 and Tf levels gradually decreased, whereas ACSL4 levels increased. UAER were independently and positively correlated with ACSL4 [ß = 17.53, 95% confidence interval (CI; 11.94, 23.13)] and negatively correlated with GPX4 [ß = -1.633, 95% CI (-2.77, -0.496)] and Tf [ß = -52.94, 95% CI (-95.78, -10.11)].The NO and MI groups were considered as reference groups, respectively. The severity of DN was negatively correlated with serum GPX4 [odds ratio (OR) = 0.925 and 0.902, p =0.015 and 0.001], and Tf (OR = 0.109 and 0.119, p =0.043 and 0.034), and positively correlated with ACSL4 (OR = 1.952 and 1.865, both p <0.001) in the MA group. Conclusion: DN severity was negatively correlated with serum GPX4 and Tf levels and positively correlated with serum ACSL4 levels in patients with T2DM.

Background: Depression is a major cause of disability and most antidepressant medicines are ineffective owing to their high toxicity and numerous adverse effects. As a result, there is an urgent need to find new effective treatment methods. This paper aims to investigate the effect and mechanism of total saikosaponins (TSS) on depression-like behaviors induced by chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) in rats. Methods: Twenty-four male SD rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: control group, CUMS group, TSS group, and fluoxetine (Flu) group. Then, the following tests were conducted: sucrose preference test, open field test, and elevated plus maze test. Additionally, ELISA was used to detect the levels of corticosterone (CORT) and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) in the serum of the rats as well as the levels of inflammatory cytokines IL-1ß, IL-6, and TNF-α in the hippocampus, and Western blot was used for measuring the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) protein and related proteins of the PI3K/AKT/NF-κB signaling pathway in the hippocampus. Results: TSS could significantly improve rat behaviors, specifically indicated by increases in sucrose preference, total movement distance, stay time in the central area, number of entries into open arms, time spent in open arms, and a decrease in stay time in the peripheral area. TSS acted to significantly reduce BDNF protein expression and increase the contents of ACTH and CORT in serum as well as the levels of IL-1ß, IL-6, and TNF-α in the hippocampal tissue in rats. In addition, it was able to raise the ratios of p-PI3K/PI3K and p-AKT/AKT and decrease the ratio of p-p65/p65 in tissues, which in turn regulated the PI3K/AKT/NF-κB signaling pathway. Conclusions: TSS, through regulating PI3K/AKT/NF-κB signaling axis, can alleviate depression-like behaviors and elevate neuroendocrine hormone levels and inflammatory factor levels.

All-inorganic copper(I)-based metal halides have emerged as promising candidates for the replacement of lead perovskites because of their outstanding optical properties. However, the limited structure tunability prohibits their further exploration of properties including red photoluminescence (PL). Here, we report a series of red-emissive lead-free hybrid organic-inorganic copper halides A6(C4H8OS)12[Cu8X13][Cu4X4(OH)(H2O)] (ACX-THTO, A = K, Rb, and Cs; X = Cl, Br; THTO = C4H8OS) with the highest photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 42%. These compounds possess similar crystal structures, and their emission can be tuned in the spectral range of 676-732 nm by controlling their compositions. Additionally, by removing and adding THTO, the reversible transformation between CsCu2Br3 featuring one-dimensional (1D) chains and Cs6(C4H8OS)12[Cu8Br13][Cu4Br4(OH)(H2O)] (CCB-THTO) with zero-dimensional (0D) clusters can be realized. We also demonstrate that the incorporation of THTO in the crystal structures instead of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) can significantly enhance the stability and PL of compounds with the same inorganic components.

Inorganic multicolour perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) of CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) with high photoluminescence (PL) quantum yield (QY) and saturated colours are considered promising candidates for a high-performance colour conversion layer. However, integration of these materials into industrial applications still faces a significant challenge due to their tendency for aggregation and quenching of the emission during deposition and processing. In this work, we explore a new ink composition with oleylamine (OLA) and hexylphosphonic acid (HPA) ligands in combination with a liquid crystal monomer (LCM) composing a superior solution for an inkjet-printed colour conversion layer. This work provides a simple technique for preparing high-quality perovskite pixels for high-performance displays.

Objective: Cow's milk allergy (CMA) is a common allergic disease. Probiotics have been suggested as a treatment for CMA, with Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG) being one of the important predominant choices. Despite reports on this topic, the effectiveness of application in CMA remains to be firmly established. Methods: To assess the effects of LGG on CMA in children, the PubMed/Medline, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases were searched for studies on LGG in treatment of CMA, which were published in the English language. Results: Ten studies were finally included. Significantly higher tolerability rates favoring LGG over controls were observed [risk ratio (RR), 2.22; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.86-2.66; I 2 = 0.00; moderate-quality evidence]. There were no significant differences in SCORAD values favoring LGG over the placebo (mean difference, 1.41; 95% CI, -4.99-7.82; p = 0.67; very low-quality evidence), and LGG may have improved fecal occult blood (risk ratio, 0.36; 95% CI, 0.14-0.92; p = 0.03; low-quality evidence). Conclusion: We found that LGG may have moderate-quality evidence to promote oral tolerance in children with CMA and may facilitate recovery from intestinal symptoms. However, this finding must be treated with caution, and more gpowerful RCTs are needed to evaluate the most effective dose and treatment time for children with CMA.
