ABSTRACT
DNA carries genes, and is important for life of cells. In some processes of mammalian development, DNA is degraded. Here, I will describe how DNA is degraded during the programmed cell death, erythropoiesis, and the lens cell differentiation, and discuss how the DNA degradation is involved to maintain mammalian homeostasis.
