ABSTRACT

Importance: Suicide risk is elevated after discharge from inpatient level of care. Empirically supported inpatient suicide prevention treatments are needed. Objective: To determine whether adding an inpatient version of brief cognitive behavioral therapy for suicide prevention to treatment as usual reduces postdischarge suicide attempts, suicidal ideation, and psychiatric readmissions and to determine whether substance use disorder moderates treatment effects. Design, Setting, and Participants: This randomized clinical trial compared treatment as usual (n = 106) to treatment as usual plus brief cognitive behavioral therapy for inpatients (n = 94) at a private psychiatric hospital in Connecticut. Follow-up assessments were completed monthly for 6 months postdischarge. Participants were enrolled from January 2020 through February 2023. Inpatients admitted following a suicidal crisis (past-week suicide attempt or ideation with plan on admission and attempt within previous 2 years) were included. Medical records of consecutive admissions (n = 4137) were screened, 213 were study eligible and randomized, and 200 were analyzed. A total of 114 participants (57.0%) completed 6-month follow-up assessments. Data from medical records were also obtained through 6-month follow-up. Intervention: Up to 4 individual sessions of brief cognitive behavioral therapy for suicide prevention designed for inpatients. Main Outcomes and Measures: Suicide attempts and readmissions were assessed via blind interviews and medical record review. Suicidal ideation was assessed via self-report. Results: The mean (SD) age among 200 analyzed participants was 32.8 (12.6) years; 117 participants were female and 83 were male. Brief cognitive behavioral therapy-inpatient reduced the occurrence of suicide attempt over 6 months postdischarge by 60% (odds ratio, 0.40; 95% CI, 0.20-0.80; number needed to treat, 7) in the entire patient group, and the rate of psychiatric readmissions by 71% (rate ratio, 0.29; 95% CI, 0.09-0.90) in those without a substance use disorder. The effect of treatment condition on suicidal ideation was less clear, although post hoc analyses indicated less severe suicidal ideation following brief cognitive behavioral therapy-inpatient vs treatment as usual at 1 and 2 months postdischarge. Conclusions and Relevance: Brief cognitive behavioral therapy-inpatient reduced 6-month postdischarge suicide reattempts and rate of readmissions when added to treatment as usual. Substance use disorder moderated the treatment's effect on readmission rates. Treatment effects on suicidal ideation were less clear. Implementation research is needed to facilitate dissemination. Additional research is also needed to optimize outcomes for individuals with substance use disorders. Trial Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT04168645.

OBJECTIVE: This observational study compared children with and without binge eating (BE) on biobehavioral measures of reward responsiveness, inhibitory control, and emotion processes, while accounting for the impact of weight. METHOD: Children aged 9-10 completed the baseline wave of the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development study (316 with BE; 7,681 without BE [no-BE]). The prevalence of binge-eating disorder in the BE group was 17.0%; clinically significant internalizing and externalizing symptoms were endorsed by 8.5% and 4.5% of the sample, respectively. The monetary incentive delay (MID) task, stop signal task (SST), and emotional N-back (EN-back) task were administered during neuroimaging. Analyses assessed effects of group (BE vs. no-BE) on task performance and corresponding neural signal in regions of interest (ROIs). Weight status was evaluated as a covariate and as a moderator of effects. RESULTS: Adjusting for weight status, the BE group (vs. no-BE) group showed lower activation during anticipation of reward, specifically large reward (vs. no reward), in the composite ROI consisting of the dorsal striatum, nucleus accumbens, orbital frontal gyrus, amygdala and insula. Groups did not differ significantly in other behavioral or neural outcomes. No interactions between group and weight status were observed. CONCLUSION: Blunted anticipatory responses to monetary reward were associated with binge eating during peri-adolescence and may play a role in binge eating pathophysiology. Results challenge prior findings in BE that may be confounded by weight, as well as highlight the importance of future prospective research across binge-eating disorder stage of illness.

ABSTRACT

This clinical trial examined the individual and combined effects of three different approaches to reducing alcohol misuse among a sample of sexual minority men (SMM) with HIV. Specifically, we used a 2 × 2 × 2 randomized factorial design to compare: (a) behavioral intervention based in motivational interviewing (MI) vs. brief intervention (BI), (b) interactive text messaging (ITM) for alcohol use vs. no ITM, and (c) extended intervention (EI) length of nine months vs. a one-month intervention duration. Participants (N = 188) were SMM with HIV and alcohol misuse recruited in Miami, FL, and Boston, MA. Participants were randomized to one of eight intervention combinations and assessed at 6- and 12-month follow-ups. Large reductions of over 50% in drinks per week and heavy drinking days were observed in all conditions at follow-up. Those who received ITM, compared to those who did not, reported significantly lower drinks consumed per week at 6 and 12 months (incidence rate ratios = 0.73 [95% CI = 0.57, 0.90] and 0.72 [95% CI = 0.56, 0.87], respectively), and increased odds of cessation of alcohol misuse at 12 months, odds ratio = 1.46, 95% CI = 1.03, 2.08. Results provided no evidence of better alcohol use outcomes for either MI or EI relative to their comparison conditions, and no specific combination of intervention components demonstrated a notable benefit. This study suggests a two-session BI can effectuate substantial reductions in alcohol use in SMM with HIV and that adding one month of ITM can yield further improvements. ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION: The Control Network Neuromodulation to Enhance Cognitive Training in Complex Traumatic Brain Injury (CONNECT-TBI) study is an ongoing randomized, double-blinded, sham-controlled multisite clinical trial to determine the enhancing effects of noninvasive neuromodulation when paired with cognitive training in military participants (Veterans and active duty) with mild TBI. Attention Process Training-III (APT-III) was selected for its strong evidence base, manualized procedures, and computerized program. However, many aspects of APT-III that make it ideal for personalization make it less ideal for reliable implementation across participants, clinicians/technicians, and sites. The purpose of this feature article is to highlight APT-III procedures that require additional standardization for reliable administration across participants and sites. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Ten studies using APT-III were reviewed for methodology of APT-III administration. The manual was also scrutinized; aspects of administration that involved clinical decision-making, subjectivity, flexibility, and/or that were identified by the APT-III developers as areas in need of "empirical evaluation" were flagged by clinicians. Literature and manual review findings were presented to the team for discussion and solution-finding. The authors created and refined a standardized process that would allow participants to move through APT-III training, including task movement algorithms and new materials drafts. Refining of algorithms and drafts continued until there was a consensus from team members. RESULTS: Many gray areas were identified, but we will limit our reporting to focus on (1) dosage, (2) adaptation, (3) metacognitive strategy instruction, and (4) goal attainment scaling. We present APT-III manual details, literature review findings, and CONNECT-TBI decisions and materials for each of these areas of focus. CONCLUSIONS: We have highlighted some of the major gray areas of APT-III administration so that fellow researchers can understand the need to take similar steps in clinical trials using APT-III. We provide examples of our standardization process and resultant rules and materials. Our algorithm, based on prior studies using the APT-III and our own iterative adjustments, allows for adjustment of the difficulty and speed of the training tasks (but within certain parameters) in order to achieve the best balance between individualization and consistency across participants and sites. We provide an example of a workflow and reporting process for future studies.

ABSTRACT

New York City (NYC) was the epicenter of the early US COVID-19 pandemic. From March to May 2020, overburdened healthcare centers precipitated an emergent need for non-traditional facilities to meet patient care demands. Given travel restrictions and NYC's underutilized tourist infrastructure, hotels were available to support emergency response needs. This article describes the process by which NYC's non-medical COVID-19 hotel programs were selected, mobilized, and operated, including lessons learned. NYC agencies and organizations collaborated, creating an interagency initiative that activated hotels to provide safe isolation and quarantine spaces for those diagnosed with or exposed to COVID-19, aiming to reduce community spread, increase capacity for NYC's strained healthcare system, and mitigate interagency redundancy. Interagency groups addressed hotel challenges, including infection prevention and control; behavioral health, intellectual, and developmental disorders; social determinants of health; and coordination, operations, and planning. NYC's COVID-19 hotel program successfully supported overburdened hospitals by providing alternate locations for non-inpatient COVID-19 individuals. Community engagement required a methodical approach, balancing quality assurance with efficient access. An interagency coordinating body developed and shared clinical criteria for hotel admissions, infection prevention and control (IPC) procedures, and discharge plans, enhancing the program's ability to scale and address complex needs. Lessons learned from this program can be applied for smoother implementation of similar programs in the future.

ABSTRACT

Viral infection is frequently assayed by ongoing expression of viral genes. These assays fail to identify cells that have been exposed to the virus but limit or inhibit viral replication. To address this limitation, we used a dual-labeling vesicular stomatitis virus (DL-VSV), which has a deletion of the viral glycoprotein gene, to allow evaluation of primary infection outcomes. This virus encodes Cre, which can stably mark any cell with even a minimal level of viral gene expression. Additionally, the virus encodes GFP, which distinguishes cells with higher levels of viral gene expression, typically due to genome replication. Stereotactic injections of DL-VSV into the murine brain showed that different cell types had very different responses to the virus. Almost all neurons hosted high levels of viral gene expression, while glial cells varied in their responses. Astrocytes (Sox9+) were predominantly productively infected, while oligodendrocytes (Sox10+) were largely abortively infected. Microglial cells (Iba1+) were primarily uninfected. Furthermore, we monitored the early innate immune response to viral infection and identified unique patterns of interferon (IFN) induction. Shortly after infection, microglia were the main producers of IFNb, whereas later, oligodendrocytes were the main producers. IFNb+ cells were primarily abortively infected regardless of cell type. Last, we investigated whether IFN signaling had any impact on the outcome of primary infection and did not observe significant changes, suggesting that intrinsic factors are likely responsible for determining the outcome of primary infection.

ABSTRACT

Participants completed two sessions of an auditory attention task and intermittently responded to thought probes asking about their level of mind-wandering. After the first session one group received 200 mg of caffeinated chewing gum (n = 61) and another group received regular (placebo) chewing gum (n = 66). The gum was chewed for 20-minutes and then disposed of before beginning the second session. Participants who received caffeine showed a performance benefit as well as reported being more on task and fewer instances of spontaneous mind-wandering compared to those in the placebo group. Participants who received caffeine also reported greater positive affect and arousal, as well as less feelings of boredom, sleepiness, and mental effort required to stay on task compared to those who received placebo. These results suggest that caffeine may benefit attentional engagement as well as performance during a sustained attention task.

ABSTRACT

A growing number of studies have associated walkability and greenspace exposure with greater physical activity (PA) in women during pregnancy. However, most studies have focused on examining women's residential environments and neglected exposure in locations outside the home neighborhood. Using 350 person-days (N = 55 participants) of smartphone global positioning system (GPS) location and accelerometer data collected during the first and third trimesters and 4-6 months postpartum from 55 Hispanic pregnant women from the Maternal and Developmental Risks from Environmental and Social Stressors (MADRES) study, we examined the day-level effect of women's exposure to walkability and greenspace on their PA outcomes during pregnancy and in the early postpartum period. Moderate-to-vigorous physical activity [MVPA] minutes per day was assessed using accelerometers. Walkability and greenspace were measured using geographic information systems (GIS) within women's daily activity spaces (i.e., places visited and routes taken) recorded using a smartphone GPS and weighted by time spent. We used a generalized linear mixed-effects model to estimate the effects of daily GPS-derived environmental exposures on day-level MVPA minutes. Results showed that women engaged in 23% more MVPA minutes on days when they had some versus no exposure to parks and open spaces in activity spaces (b = 1.23; 95%CI: 1.02-1.48). In addition, protective effects of daily greenspace and walkability exposure on MVPA were stronger in the first and third trimesters, among first-time mothers, and among women who had high pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) and lived in least-safe neighborhoods. Our results suggest that daily greenspace and walkability exposure are important for women's PA and associated health outcomes during pregnancy and early postpartum.

Nutrition label serving sizes are determined primarily based on typical consumption when such data are available. However, such data are not available for certain foods such as spray cooking oil (cooking spray). Our study assessed cooking spray use by the United States (US) adults compared to the 0.25-s serving size used on US-sold cooking spray labels. Adults (n = 1041, aged 33 ± 16.7 years) completed a 13-question survey on cooking spray use and perceptions. In the survey, participants reported using cooking spray for 1.9 ± 0.9 s per use, and 42.3%-43.1% of participants reported being more likely to purchase products if they were labelled calorie- or fat-free. Next, 30 adults (aged 29.7 ± 11.0 years) completed a laboratory-based study which assessed cooking spray durations for seven cookware items. Spray times ranged from 1.0 ± 0.5 (smallest pan) to 2.5 ± 1.3 s (largest baking sheet), with 100% of sprays (210/210) exceeding the 0.25-s US serving size. Our results suggest that cooking spray serving size should be increased to 1 s to better reflect actual consumption, and this would have the added benefit of aligning better with cooking spray serving sizes in other developed countries (0.5-1.0 s). A 1-s serving size would also preclude cooking spray advertised as calorie- or fat-free, allowing consumers to make more informed choices on the dietary implications of using cooking spray.

ABSTRACT

E-cigarettes with ice flavors, which are products with a cooling agent added to a characterizing flavor (e.g., grape-ice), are widely sold. Whether ice flavors appeal to only those who already use them or a to wider population is not widely understood. This secondary analysis of a clinical laboratory experiment tested effects of experimental exposure to e-cigarettes with fruit-ice versus other flavors on the appeal and sensory attributes of vaping and whether fruit-ice effects are moderated by preexisting e-cigarette flavor preference. In a controlled double-blind within-subject randomized online experiment, adults who currently use e-cigarettes, N = 85, M (SD) = 35.5 (13.2) years, 50% female, 54.3% White, self-administered e-liquids varying in flavors (fruit-ice [grape + menthol], tobacco-only, dessert-only [caramel], and fruit-only [strawberry]). Participants rated each product's appeal (liking, disliking, willingness to use again) and sensory attributes (sweetness, smoothness, harshness, bitterness, and coolness). In the overall sample, fruit-ice flavor produced (a) higher appeal, sweetness, smoothness, and coolness and lower bitterness and harshness compared to tobacco and dessert-only flavors and (b) higher coolness and lower sweetness than fruit-only flavors. The appeal-enhancing effect of fruit-ice (vs. tobacco and dessert-only flavors) was stronger among those with preexisting preferences for menthol/mint, fruit, and ice flavors, but not for those who typically used tobacco-only flavors. Our findings suggest that restrictions on fruit-ice-flavored e-cigarettes may reduce the appeal of vaping, particularly among vapers with preferences for products with cooling, fruit, and/or sweet sensory attributes. ABSTRACT

Affective symptoms (e.g., depression, anxiety, shame) are a potent risk factor for binge eating. However, less is known on the role of loneliness as a moderator of affective symptoms and binge eating. This objective of the current study was to investigate main effects and interactions of affective symptoms and loneliness in relation to binge eating in college women. A sample of 556 undergraduate women completed self-report questionnaires of affective symptoms, loneliness, and binge eating. Results revealed significant interactions between each affective symptom variable and loneliness in relation to binge eating, such that loneliness strengthened the positive association of affective symptoms and greater binge eating. The findings of this study demonstrate an important role of loneliness to binge eating among college women, especially those with underlying affective vulnerabilities. More theoretical and treatment-oriented work on the role of loneliness in binge eating is needed to understand mechanisms and interventions/preventions.

INTRODUCTION: Smoking for weight control is a well-documented behavior. There is emerging evidence to suggest electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) may be used for similar motivations yet measure development for the use of e-cigarettes for weight control has received less attention. The objective of the current study was to adapt and explore the psychometric properties of The Smoking-Related Weight and Eating Episodes Test (SWEET) for e-cigarette users. METHODS: Young adult (N=1875) current cigarette, e-cigarette, and dual users completed the original SWEET (SWEET-C) and/or adapted SWEET for e-cigarette use (SWEET-EC) based on current tobacco product use. Demographics, associated e-cigarette characteristics, nicotine dependence, outcome expectancies, and eating disorder behaviors were also assessed. Participants were recruited online and measures were completed via self-report. RESULTS: Four exploratory factor analyses using principal components extraction and direct oblimin rotation methods were run to explore the SWEET-C and SWEET-EC. A one-factor solution explaining 66 % of the variance was retained for the SWEET-C, and a one-factor solution explaining 73 % of the variance was retained for the SWEET-EC. Both measures exhibited excellent internal consistency. Higher SWEET-EC scores were observed among dual users, and were associated with daily e-cigarette use, JUUL use, self-reported vaping for weight control, older age, higher body mass index, and problematic eating behaviors. CONCLUSION: Our findings support the adaptation of the SWEET-EC to measure e-cigarette use for weight control. The SWEET-EC will help to better understand how individuals use e-cigarettes to curb eating behavior and for weight control.

ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION: Past research shows that HIV self-testing (HIVST) can increase testing and facilitate more HIV diagnoses relative to clinic testing. However, in the United States, the use of HIVSTs is limited due to concerns that those who use HIVST could be less likely to be linked to care. METHODS: From January 2019 to April 2022, we recruited 811 men who have sex with men (MSM) in the United States who tested infrequently using an online marketing campaign and randomized them 1:1:1 to receive one of the following every 3 months for a year: (1) text message reminders to get tested at a local clinic (control); (2) mailed HIVST kits with access to a free helpline (standard HIVST); and (3) mailed HIVST kits with counselling provided within 24 hours of opening a kit (eTest). Quarterly follow-up surveys assessed HIV testing, sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) use and sexual risk behaviour. FINDINGS: Eight participants were diagnosed with HIV, and all but one were through HIVST. Participants in either HIVST condition, standard or eTest, had significantly higher odds of any testing (OR = 7.9, 95% CI = 4.9-12.9 and OR = 6.6, 95% CI = 4.2-10.5) and repeat testing (>1 test; OR = 8.5, 95% CI = 5.7-12.6; OR = 8.9, 95% CI = 6.1-13.4) over 12 months relative to the control group. Rates of STI testing and PrEP uptake did not differ across study condition, but those in the eTest condition reported 27% fewer sexual risk events across the study period relative to other groups. CONCLUSIONS: HIVST vastly increased testing, encouraged more regular testing among MSM, and identified nearly all new cases, suggesting that HIVST could diagnose HIV acquisition earlier. Providing timely follow-up counselling after HIVST did not increase rates of STI testing or PrEP use, but some evidence suggested that counselling may have reduced sexual risk behaviour. To encourage more optimal testing, programmes should incorporate HIVST and ship kits directly to recipients at regular intervals.

ABSTRACT

Neonicotinoid insecticide seed treatments are commonly used in rice (Oryza sativa) production to control rice water weevil (Lisorhoptrus oryzophilus). With the use of neonicotinoid seed treatments, there is potential that honey bees (Apis mellifera) could be exposed to neonicotinoids through translocation to the pollen. Studies were conducted in 2015 and 2016 to determine the level of neonicotinoids present in flag leaves, pollen, and grain of rice. Thiamethoxam was applied as a seed treatment and foliar prior to flooding. Clothianidin was applied as a seed treatment and as a foliar at a preflood and postflood timing. Subsamples of flag leaves, pollen, and grain were analyzed for positive neonicotinoid detections and abundance. Thiamethoxam was detected in 8.9% of samples and clothianidin was detected in 1.4% of samples. For both thiamethoxam and clothianidin, more positive samples were observed in flag leaf samples than in pollen or grain. An average of 4.30 ng/g of thiamethoxam was detected in flag leaves from seed-applied thiamethoxam. An average of 1.25 ng/g of clothianidin was found in flag leaves from a preflood application of clothianidin. A survey of honey bees present in rice fields was conducted in Mississippi and Arkansas to determine the abundance of honey bees present in rice fields based on the time of day. Honey bee densities were low in rice, with less than 5% and 3% positive detections observed in Mississippi and Arkansas, respectively. More positive detections and higher densities of honey bees were observed for mid-day sampling than for morning or evening sampling.

OBJECTIVE: This study assessed the ecological validity of the Yale Food Addiction Scale (YFAS 2.0) with ecological momentary assessment (EMA) and explored the internal consistency and convergent validity of a momentary food addiction scale. METHOD: Adults (N = 49) who met criteria for binge-eating disorder and/or food addiction (age = 34.9 ± 12.1 years; 77.1% cisgender female; 55.1% non-Hispanic White) completed online questionnaires and a 10-day EMA protocol. Analyses examined (a) associations between the YFAS 2.0 and EMA-measured variables corresponding to food addiction criteria, (b) reliability of a momentary food addiction scale (EMA-FA), and (c) concurrent associations between EMA-FA and EMA-measured negative affect, impulsivity, eating expectancies, body satisfaction, consumption of palatable food, and taste response to palatable food. RESULTS: YFAS scores were associated with EMA-reported variables corresponding to food addiction criteria (ps < .045). The multilevel reliability for EMA-FA was adequate (ω = .75-.94). Individuals with higher EMA-FA scores reported greater negative affect, impulsivity, appetite, palatable food consumption, taste response to palatable food, and contrary to expectations, greater body satisfaction (ps < .01). Within-person effects emerged for EMA-FA predicting higher negative affect, impulsivity, likelihood of palatable food consumption, more pleasurable taste responses after consuming palatable foods, yet lower body satisfaction, appetite, and eating expectancies (ps < .01). CONCLUSIONS: Results support the ecological validity of the YFAS 2.0, and additional evidence of convergent validity and internal consistency was demonstrated for a momentary food addiction scale. This assessment of the psychometric properties of the YFAS will ultimately further its utility and relevance in the study and diagnosis of food addiction. ABSTRACT

We tested the hypothesis that compliance with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) heat stress recommendations will prevent reductions in glomerular filtration rate (GFR) across a range of wet-bulb globe temperatures (WBGTs) and work-rest ratios at a fixed work intensity. We also tested the hypothesis that noncompliance would result in a reduction in GFR compared with a work-rest matched compliant trial. Twelve healthy adults completed five trials (four NIOSH compliant and one noncompliant) that consisted of 4 h of exposure to a range of WBGTs. Subjects walked on a treadmill (heat production: approximately 430 W) and work-rest ratios (work/h: 60, 45, 30, and 15 min) were prescribed as a function of WBGT (24°C, 26.5°C, 28.5°C, 30°C, and 36°C), and subjects drank a sport drink ad libitum. Peak core temperature (TC) and percentage change in body weight (%ΔBW) were measured. Creatinine clearance measured pre- and postexposure provided a primary marker of GFR. Peak TC did not differ among NIOSH-compliant trials (P = 0.065) but differed between compliant versus noncompliant trials (P < 0.001). %ΔBW did not differ among NIOSH-compliant trials (P = 0.131) or between compliant versus noncompliant trials (P = 0.185). Creatinine clearance did not change or differ among compliant trials (P ≥ 0.079). Creatinine clearance did not change or differ between compliant versus noncompliant trials (P ≥ 0.661). Compliance with the NIOSH recommendations maintained GFR. Surprisingly, despite a greater heat strain in a noncompliant trial, GFR was maintained highlighting the potential relative importance of hydration.NEW & NOTEWORTHY We highlight that glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is maintained during simulated occupational heat stress across a range of total work, work-rest ratios, and wet-bulb globe temperatures with ad libitum consumption of an electrolyte and sugar-containing sports drink. Compared with a work-rest matched compliant trial, noncompliance resulted in augmented heat strain but did not induce a reduction in GFR likely due to an increased relative fluid intake and robust fluid conservatory responses.

ABSTRACT

Cognitive or motor impairment is common among individuals with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), an autosomal dominant tumor-predisposition disorder. As many as 70% of children with NF1 report difficulties with spatial/working memory, attention, executive function, and fine motor movements. In contrast to the utilization of various Nf1 mouse models, here we employ an NF1+/ex42del miniswine model to evaluate the mechanisms and characteristics of these presentations, taking advantage of a large animal species more like human anatomy and physiology. The prefrontal lobe, anterior cingulate, and hippocampus from NF1+/ex42del and wild-type miniswine were examined longitudinally, revealing abnormalities in mature oligodendrocytes and astrocytes, and microglial activation over time. Imbalances in GABA: Glutamate ratios and GAD67 expression were observed in the hippocampus and motor cortex, supporting the role of disruption in inhibitory neurotransmission in NF1 cognitive impairment and motor dysfunction. Moreover, NF1+/ex42del miniswine demonstrated slower and shorter steps, indicative of a balance-preserving response commonly observed in NF1 patients, and progressive memory and learning impairments. Collectively, our findings affirm the effectiveness of NF1+/ex42del miniswine as a valuable resource for assessing cognitive and motor impairments associated with NF1, investigating the involvement of specific neural circuits and glia in these processes, and evaluating potential therapeutic interventions.
