ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: The FreeStyle Libre flash glucose monitoring (FGM) system entered the Chinese market in 2017 to complement the self-monitoring of blood glucose. Due to its increased usage in clinics, the number of studies investigating its accuracy has increased. However, its accuracy has not been investigated in highland popu-lations in China. AIM: To evaluate measurements recorded using the FreeStyle Libre FGM system compared with capillary blood glucose measured using the enzyme electrode method in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) who had migrated within 3 mo from highlands to plains. METHODS: Overall, 68 patients with T2D, selected from those who had recently migrated from highlands to plains (within 3 mo), were hospitalized at the Department of Endocrinology from August to October 2017 and underwent continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) with the FreeStyle Libre FGM system for 14 d. Throughout the study period, fingertip capillary blood glucose was measured daily using the enzyme electrode method (Super GL, China), and blood glucose levels were read from the scanning probe during fasting and 2 h after all three meals. Moreover, the time interval between reading the data from the scanning probe and collecting fingertip capillary blood was controlled to < 5 min. The accuracy of the FGM system was evaluated according to the CGM guidelines. Subsequently, the factors influencing the mean absolute relative difference (MARD) of this system were analyzed by a multiple linear regression method. RESULTS: Pearson's correlation analysis showed that the fingertip and scanned glucose levels were positively correlated (R = 0.86, P = 0.00). The aggregated MARD of scanned glucose was 14.28 ± 13.40%. Parker's error analysis showed that 99.30% of the data pairs were located in areas A and B. According to the probe wear time of the FreeStyle Libre FGM system, MARD1 d and MARD2-14 d were 16.55% and 14.35%, respectively (t = 1.23, P = 0.22). Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that MARD did not correlate with blood glucose when the largest amplitude of glycemic excursion (LAGE) was < 5.80 mmol/L but negatively correlated with blood glucose when the LAGE was ≥ 5.80 mmol/L. CONCLUSION: The FreeStyle Libre FGM system has good accuracy in patients with T2D who had recently migrated from highlands to plains. This system might be ideal for avoiding the effects of high hematocrit on blood glucose monitoring in populations that recently migrated to plains. MARD is mainly influenced by glucose levels and fluctuations, and the accuracy of the system is higher when the blood glucose fluctuation is small. In case of higher blood glucose level fluctuations, deviation in the scanned glucose levels is the highest at extremely low blood glucose levels.

ABSTRACT

Interferons (IFNs) activate JAK-STAT pathways to induce downstream effector genes for host defense against invaded pathogens and tumors. Here both type I (ß) and II (γ) IFNs are shown that can activate the transcription factor IRF3 in parallel with STAT1. IRF3-deficiency impairs transcription of a subset of downstream effector genes induced by IFN-ß and IFN-γ. Mechanistically, IFN-induced activation of IRF3 is dependent on the cGAS-STING-TBK1 axis. Both IFN-ß and IFN-γ cause mitochondrial DNA release into the cytosol. In addition, IFNs induce JAK1-mediated tyrosine phosphorylation of cGAS at Y214/Y215, which is essential for its DNA binding activity and signaling. Furthermore, deficiency of cGAS, STING, or IRF3 impairs IFN-ß- or IFN-γ-mediated antiviral and antitumor activities. The findings reveal a novel IRF3 activation pathway parallel with the canonical STAT1/2 activation pathways triggered by IFNs and provide an explanation for the pleiotropic roles of the cGAS-STING-IRF3 axis in host defense.

ABSTRACT

Background and aim: Patients with chronic hepatitis B patients (CHB) with low-level viremia (LLV) are not necessarily at low risk of developing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The question of whether CHB patients with LLV require immediate antiviral agent (AVT) or long-term AVT remains controversial. The study aims to investigate the risk of HCC development and the risk factors in CHB patients with LLV and construct a nomogram model predicting the risk of HCC. Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study that enrolled 16,895 CHB patients from January 2008 to December 2020. The patients were divided into three groups for comparison: the LLV group, maintained virological response (MVR) group and HBV-DNA>2000 group. The cumulative incidence of progression to HCC was assessed. Cox regression analysis was performed to determine the final risk factors, and a nomogram model was constructed. The 10-fold Cross-Validation method was utilized for internal validation. Results: A total of 408 new cases of HCC occurred during the average follow-up period of 5.78 years. The 3, 5, and 10-year cumulative HCC risks in the LLV group were 3.56%, 4.96%, and 9.51%, respectively. There was a significant difference in the cumulative risk of HCC between the HBV-DNA level > 2000 IU/mL and LLV groups (p = 0.049). Independent risk factors for HCC development in LLV group included male gender, age, presence of cirrhosis, and platelets count. The Area Under the Curve (AUC) values for the 3-year and 5-year prediction from our HCC risk prediction model were 0.75 and 0.76, respectively. Conclusion: Patients with LLV and MVR are still at risk for developing HCC. The nomogram established for CHB patient with LLV, incorporating identified significant risk factors, serves as an effective tool for predicting HCC-free outcomes. This nomogram model provides valuable information for determining appropriate surveillance strategies and prescribing AVT.

ABSTRACT

The single-step purification of ethylene (C2H4) from a mixture of carbon dioxide (CO2), acetylene (C2H2), ethylene (C2H4), and ethane (C2H6) was achieved through MOF Compound-1, where the aromatic pore surface and carboxylates selectively recognized C2H6 and CO2, respectively, resulting in a reversal of the adsorption orders for both gases (C2H6 > C2H4 and CO2 > C2H4). Breakthrough testing verified that the C2H4 purification ability could be enhanced 2.6 times after adding impure CO2. Grand Canonical Monte Carlo (GCMC) simulations demonstrate that there are interactions between CO2 and C2H6 molecules as well as between CO2 molecules themselves. These interactions contribute to the enhancement of the C2H4 purification ability upon the addition of CO2 and the increased adsorption of CO2.

ABSTRACT

Background: Hypertension is the most significant global risk factor for mortality and morbidity, making standardized blood pressure measurement crucial. Objectives: To investigate whether the location of blood pressure monitors and the positioning of cuffs yield differing results in blood pressure measurements. Methods: Patients admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of Jiujiang College between 1 January 2022 and 30 June 2023 were enrolled in this study and randomly allocated into four groups. These groups were defined based on the positioning of monitoring equipment as follows: varied placements of cuffs on automatic blood pressure monitors, different heights for mercury column blood pressure monitors, varied heights for automatic blood pressure monitors, and different orientations for the cuff airbag tubes on electrocardiogram monitors. Blood pressure was measured and recorded for each group, followed by an analysis of the variations in readings across the different setups. Results: In the first cohort of 763 individuals, mean systolic blood pressure measured at the standard upper arm site was 128.8 ± 10.5 mmHg, compared to 125.3 ± 10.4 mmHg at the elbow fossa. The corresponding diastolic pressures were 79.2 ± 10.7 and 75.0 ± 10.6 mmHg, respectively. The difference in systolic pressure between these positions was significant at 3.48 ± 3.22 mmHg (t1 = 29.91, p1 < 0.001) and for diastolic pressure at 4.23 ± 1.31 mmHg (t2 = 88.98, p2 < 0.001). For the subsequent groups, involving 253, 312, and 225 individuals, respectively, blood pressure measurements were analyzed and compared across different methods within each group. All p-values exceeded 0.05, indicating no statistically significant differences. Conclusions: Blood pressure values measured at the elbow fossa position using an upper arm-type automatic sphygmomanometer were found to be lower than those measured at the upper arm position, with a difference of 3.48 mmHg for systolic and 4.23 mmHg for diastolic pressures. It is therefore essential to position the cuff correctly, specifically 2-3 cm above the elbow fossa, when utilizing an upper arm-type automatic sphygmomanometer for blood pressure monitoring. Conversely, the placement of the mercury column sphygmomanometer and the automated sphygmomanometer at varying heights had no significant effect on blood pressure readings. Similarly, the orientation of the electrocardiogram's cuffed balloon tube, whether facing upward or downward, did not influence blood pressure measurement outcomes.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: In November 2015, China launched a pilot program for its Drug Marketing Authorization Holder (MAH) system, aiming to integrate production and research and development resources to spur drug innovation. While many scholars have examined the theoretical relationship between the MAH system and pharmaceutical manufacturing innovation, empirical studies have been scarce. METHODS: This study uses inter-provincial panel data on China's pharmaceutical manufacturing industry from 2009 to 2019, along with synthetic control methods, to offer a robust analysis of the impact of the MAH paradigm on innovation quality in pilot provinces. We treat the 2015 MAH system implementation in ten provinces as a natural experiment and account for the mediating effects of R&D investments, allowing us to discern the underlying mechanisms. RESULTS: Our findings demonstrate a significant positive effect of China's MAH system on innovation quality in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. Specifically, the system is most effective in Jiangsu, Guangdong, and Shandong provinces. We also identify R&D investments as playing a mediating role in facilitating the favorable impact of the MAH system on innovation quality. CONCLUSION: Our study highlights the crucial importance of the MAH system in promoting innovation quality in China's pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, providing vital empirical support for its adoption and further enhancement. This research also offers practical insights for policymakers and R&D decision-makers in the pharmaceutical sector.

ABSTRACT

Several deep learning-based methods have been proposed to extract vulnerable plaques of a single class from intravascular optical coherence tomography (OCT) images. However, further research is limited by the lack of publicly available large-scale intravascular OCT datasets with multi-class vulnerable plaque annotations. Additionally, multi-class vulnerable plaque segmentation is extremely challenging due to the irregular distribution of plaques, their unique geometric shapes, and fuzzy boundaries. Existing methods have not adequately addressed the geometric features and spatial prior information of vulnerable plaques. To address these issues, we collected a dataset containing 70 pullback data and developed a multi-class vulnerable plaque segmentation model, called PolarFormer, that incorporates the prior knowledge of vulnerable plaques in spatial distribution. The key module of our proposed model is Polar Attention, which models the spatial relationship of vulnerable plaques in the radial direction. Extensive experiments conducted on the new dataset demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms other baseline methods. ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To identify differentially expressed long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in condyloma acuminatum (CA) and to explore their probable regulatory mechanisms by establishing coexpression networks. METHODS: High-throughput RNA sequencing was performed to assess genome-wide lncRNA expression in CA and paired adjacent mucosal tissue. The expression of candidate lncRNAs and their target genes in larger CA specimens was validated using real-time quantitative reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT‒qPCR). Furthermore, Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analyses were used for the functional enrichment analysis of these candidate lncRNAs and differential mRNAs. The coexpressed mRNAs of the candidate lncRNAs, calculated by Pearson's correlation coefficient, were also analysed using GO and KEGG analysis. In addition, the interactions among differentially expressed lncRNAs (DElncRNAs)-cis-regulatory transcription factors (cisTFs)-differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were analysed and their network was constructed. RESULTS: A total of 546 lncRNAs and 2553 mRNAs were found to be differentially expressed in CA compared to the paired control. Functional enrichment analysis revealed that the DEGs coexpressed with DElncRNAs were enriched in the terms of cell adhesion and keratinocyte differentiation, and the pathways of ECM-receptor interaction, local adhesion, PI3K/AKT and TGF-ß signaling. We further constructed the network among DElncRNAs-cisTFs-DEGs and found that these 95 DEGs were mainly enriched in GO terms of epithelial development, regulation of transcription or gene expression. Furthermore, the expression of 3 pairs of DElncRNAs and cisTFs, EVX1-AS and HOXA13, HOXA11-AS and EVX1, and DLX6-AS and DLX5, was validated with a larger number of specimens using RT‒qPCR. CONCLUSION: CA has a specific lncRNA profile, and the differentially expressed lncRNAs play regulatory roles in mRNA expression through cis-acting TFs, which provides insight into their regulatory networks. It will be useful to understand the pathogenesis of CA to provide new directions for the prevention, clinical treatment and efficacy evaluation of CA.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: The primary objective of this study is to explore the significance of concurrent evaluation of HER2 gene amplification and p53 and Ki67 expression in gastric cancer tissues. METHODS: Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) methodologies were used to detect HER2 gene amplification, as well as the expression levels of HER2, p53, and Ki67 proteins, across a group of 78 gastric cancer cases. RESULTS: The expression rate of the HER2 protein was determined to be 43.6% (34/78), with 17.9% (14/78) categorized as HER2 protein 3 + , 14.1% (11/78) as HER2 protein 2 + , and 11.5% (9/78) as HER2 protein 1 + . Using FISH technology, the HER2 gene amplification rate was identified as 19.2% (15/78), including 3 cases of HER2 gene cluster amplification, 5 cases of large granular amplification, 4 cases of punctate amplification, and 3 cases of high polysomy. The positive rate of p53 in gastric cancer cells was 52.6% (41/78), with 62.8% (49/78) of patients exhibiting a ki67 proliferation index ≤ 30, and 37.2% (29/78) accounting for a ki67 proliferation index > 30. The expression rates of the HER2 gene, p53, and ki67 in gastric cancer tissues were significantly associated with both gastric cancer staging and lymph node metastasis (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The HER2 gene amplification rate and gene copy number exhibit a positive correlation with the expression rates of p53 and ki67. Combining these assessments can provide crucial insights into the assessment of metastatic potential, disease progression, and prognosis of gastric tumor cells. This holds paramount importance in steering the formulation of individualized treatment strategies.

ABSTRACT

The present study evaluated the antiseizure and neuroprotective effects of sodium houttuyfonate (SH), a derivative of Houttuynia cordata Thunb. (H. cordata), in a kainic acid (KA)- induced seizure rat model and its underlying mechanism. Sprague Dawley rats were administered normal saline, SH (50 or 100 mg/kg), or carbamazepine (300 mg/kg) by oral gavage for seven consecutive days before the intraperitoneal administration of KA (15 mg/kg). SH showed antiseizure effects at a dose of 100 mg/kg; it prolonged seizure latency and decreased seizure scores. SH also significantly decreased neuronal loss in the hippocampi of KA-treated rats, which was associated with the prevention of glutamate level increase, the upregulation of glutamate reuptake-associated proteins (excitatory amino acid transporters 1-3), glutamate metabolism enzyme glutamine synthetase, the downregulation of the glutamate synthesis enzyme glutaminase, and significant alterations in the expression of AMPA (α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazole-propionic acid receptor) and NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartic acid receptor) receptor subunits in the hippocampus. Furthermore, the effects of SH were similar to those of the antiseizure drug carbamazepine. Therefore, the results of the present study suggest that SH has antiseizure effects on KA-induced seizures, possibly through the prevention of glutamatergic alterations. Our findings suggest that SH is a potential alternative treatment that may prevent seizures by preserving the normal glutamatergic system.

ABSTRACT

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is currently one of the most serious public health concerns in the world. However, the best approach to treat AD has yet to be discovered, implying that we must continue to work hard to find new AD target genes. In this study, we further analysed Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) data and discovered that the expression of the Mitochondria glutamate carrier SLC25A18 is associated with AD by screening the differentially expressed genes in different regions of the brains of Alzheimer's disease patients. To verify the expression of SLC25A18 during Alzheimer's disease development, we analysed animal models (5×FAD transgenic AD animal model, chemically induced AD animal model, natural ageing animal model), and the results showed that the expression of SLC25A18 was increased in animal models of AD. Further investigation of the different regions found that SLC25A18 expression was elevated in the EC, TeA, and CA3, and expressed in neurons. Next, We found that Aß42 treatment elevated SLC25A18 expression in Neuro 2A cells. Reducing SLC25A18 expression attenuated mitochondrial dysfunction and neuronal apoptosis caused by Aß42. Overexpression of SLC25A18 increased ATP and intracellular superoxide anions but decreased mitochondrial membrane potential. The results indicate that SLC25A18 affects mitochondrial function and neuronal apoptosis, and is related to AD, which makes it a potential target for treating brain dysfunction.

Residues of environmental organophosphorus pesticides (OPs) will seriously endanger human health. Most reported OP sensors utilized the restrictions capacity of OPs on the catalytic capacity of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) to acetylthiocholine chloride (ATCh), which suffers from high costs, weak stability, long reaction time, and unrecyclable. Herein, a recyclable strategy was proposed for selective and sensitive detection of glyphosate (Gly). The weak fluorescence of UIO-66-NH2 at 450 nm was enhanced almost 10-fold after reacting with Gly because of the rotation-restricted emission enhancement mechanism. Moreover, inspired by the process of charging and discharging the batteries, we introduced Cu2+ to chelate with Gly. Because of the strong chelation between Cu2+ and Gly, the Gly was removed from UIO-66-NH2, which resulted in the quenching of fluorescence intensity and making UIO-66-NH2 recycle. This method proposed is fast, recyclable, easily conducted, and with a low 0.33 µM LOD in dd H2O based on 3σ/S. The recovery rates of Gly in tap water ranged from 93.07 to 104.35% within a satisfied 7.75% RSD. The Cu2+ LOD is 0.01 mM based on 3σ/S and 94.37-118.34% recovery rates within 6.48% RSD in tap water. We believe that the findings in this work provide a meaningful and promising strategy to detect Gly and Cu2+ in real samples. This sensor first successfully achieves the recycling use of the material in OP fluorescence detection, which greatly decreases the cost of the designed sensor and reduces the possibility of secondary pollution to the environment, broadens a new circulation dimension of fluorescence detection methods in detecting OPs, and has the potential to remove glyphosate from water. It also provides a method to utilize functionalized metal-organic frameworks to establish various sensors.

AIMS: Podocyte injury plays an essential role in the progression of diabetic nephropathy (DN). The associations between the ultrastructural changes of podocyte with proteinuria and the pathological classification of DN proposed by Renal Pathology Society (RPS) have not been clarified in patients with type 2 diabetic nephropathy (T2DN). METHODS: We collected 110 patients with kidney biopsy-confirmed T2DN at Peking University First Hospital from 2017 to 2022. The morphometric analysis on the podocyte foot process width (FPW) and podocyte detachment (PD) as markers of podocyte injury was performed, and the correlations between the ultrastructural changes of podocytes with severity of proteinuria and the RPS pathological classification of DN were analyzed. RESULTS: Mean FPW was significantly broader in the group of T2DN patients with nephrotic proteinuria (565.1 nm) than those with microalbuminuria (437.4 nm) or overt proteinuria (494.6 nm). The cut-off value of FPW (> 506 nm) could differentiate nephrotic proteinuria from non-nephrotic proteinuria with a sensitivity of 75.3% and a specificity of 75.8%. Percentage of PD was significantly higher in group of nephrotic proteinuria (3.2%) than that in microalbuminuria (0%) or overt proteinuria (0.2%). FPW and PD significantly correlated with proteinuria in T2DN (r = 0.473, p < 0.001 and r = 0.656, P < 0.001). FPW and PD correlated with RPS pathological classification of T2DN (r = 0.179, P = 0.014 and r = 0.250, P = 0.001). FPW value was increased significantly with more severe DN classification (P for trend =0.007). The percentage of PD tended to increase with more severe DN classification (P for trend = 0.017). CONCLUSIONS: Podocyte injury, characterized by FPW broadening and PD, was associated with the severity of proteinuria and the pathological classification of DN.

ABSTRACT

Microscopy-based spatially resolved omic methods are transforming the life sciences. However, these methods rely on high numerical aperture objectives and cannot resolve crowded molecular targets, limiting the amount of extractable biological information. To overcome these limitations, here we develop Deconwolf, an open-source, user-friendly software for high-performance deconvolution of widefield fluorescence microscopy images, which efficiently runs on laptop computers. Deconwolf enables accurate quantification of crowded diffraction limited fluorescence dots in DNA and RNA fluorescence in situ hybridization images and allows robust detection of individual transcripts in tissue sections imaged with ×20 air objectives. Deconvolution of in situ spatial transcriptomics images with Deconwolf increased the number of transcripts identified more than threefold, while the application of Deconwolf to images obtained by fluorescence in situ sequencing of barcoded Oligopaint probes drastically improved chromosome tracing. Deconwolf greatly facilitates the use of deconvolution in many bioimaging applications.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the serum lipid profiles of patients with localized osteosarcoma around the knee joint before and after neoadjuvant chemotherapy. METHODS: After retrospectively screening the data of 742 patients between January 2007 and July 2020, 50 patients aged 13 to 39 years with Enneking stage II disease were included in the study. Serum lipid levels, including total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), lipoprotein-α [Lp(a)], and apolipoprotein A1, B, and E (ApoA1, ApoB, and ApoE), and clinicopathological characteristics were collected before and after neoadjuvant chemotherapy. RESULTS: The mean levels of TC, TG, and ApoB were significantly increased following neoadjuvant chemotherapy (16%, 38%, and 20%, respectively, vs. pretreatment values; P<0.01). The mean levels of LDL-C and ApoE were also 19% and 16% higher, respectively (P<0.05). No correlation was found between the pretreatment lipid profile and the histologic response to chemotherapy. An increase in Lp(a) was strongly correlated with the Ki-67 index (R=0.31, P=0.023). Moreover, a trend toward longer disease-free survival (DFS) was observed in patients with decreased TG and increased LDL-C following chemotherapy, although this difference was not statistically significant (P=0.23 and P=0.24, respectively). CONCLUSION: Significant elevations in serum lipids were observed after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with localized osteosarcoma. There was no prognostic significance of pretreatment serum lipid levels on histologic response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The scale of increase in serum Lp(a) might have a potential prognostic role in osteosarcoma. Patients with increased LDL-C or reduced TG after chemotherapy seem to exhibit a trend toward favorable DFS.

Microplastics (MPs) have attracted widespread attention because they can lead to combined toxicity by adsorbing heavy metals from the environment. Exposure to lead (Pb), a frequently adsorbed heavy metal by MPs, is common. In the current study, the coexistence of MPs and Pb was assessed in human samples. Then, mice were used as models to examine how co-exposure to MPs and Pb promotes aortic medial degeneration. The results showed that MPs and Pb co-exposure were detected in patients with aortic disease. In mice, MPs and Pb co-exposure promoted the damage of elastic fibers, loss of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs), and release of inflammatory factors. In vitro cell models revealed that co-exposure to MPs and Pb induced excessive reactive oxygen species generation, impaired mitochondrial function, and triggered PANoptosome assembly in VSMCs. These events led to PANoptosis and inflammation through the cAMP/PKA-ROS signaling pathway. However, the use of the PKA activator 8-Br-cAMP or mitochondrial ROS scavenger Mito-TEMPO improved, mitochondrial function in VSMCs, reduced cell death, and inhibited inflammatory factor release. Taken together, the present study provided novel insights into the combined toxicity of MPs and Pb co-exposure on the aorta.

ABSTRACT

Objective: This meta-analysis aims to explore the dose-response relationship of aerobic exercise or aerobic combined resistance exercise on cardiopulmonary function in maintenance hemodialysis(MHD), with the goal of aiding in the formulation of precise exercise prescriptions. Methods: A literature search up to August 18, 2023, was conducted in databases including Web of Science, among others, focusing on the effects of exercise interventions on cardiopulmonary function in hemodialysis patients.Two researchers independently conducted literature screening, data extraction, and an assessment of study methodology quality. A dose-response meta-analysis was carried out using a one-stage cubic spline mixed-effects model, followed by stratified analyses based on intervention period, intervention method, and exercise environment. Results: A nonlinear dose-response relationship was observed between exercise and 6-minute walk test (6WMT) as well as peak oxygen uptake (VO2Peak) in hemodialysis patients. The optimal exercise dose for the 6WMT across the full exposure range was 922 METs-min/week, with VO2Peak increasing with the dose. The effects were influenced by the type of exercise, intervention period, and exercise environment. An exercise dose of 500 METs-min/week and 619 METs-min/week was found sufficient to achieve the minimal clinically important differences (MCID) for 6WMT and VO2Peak, respectively. Conclusion: There is a significant association between the dose of exercise and its effects. With appropriate adjustment of variables, even low-dose exercise can lead to clinically significant improvements in cardiopulmonary function.
