ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the clinical effect, complications and their preventive measures of intracranial puncture with YL-1 puncture needle in the treatment of subacute and chronic subdural hematoma. Methods The clinical data of 136 cases with subacute and chronic subdural hematoma were analyzed retrospectively. Results Hematoma reoccurred in 2 cases, both of which were cured, by the secondary puncture; however, the remaining patients were cured at the initial treatment. 71 cases suffered from different degrees of postoperative pneumocephalus, 1 was attacked by epilepsy during the operation, and 2 contracted infection or delayed healing at the puncture point. Conclusion The curative effect of treating subacute and chronic subdural hematoma with YL-1puncture needle is satisfactory, equal to traditional burr-hole craniotomy and drainage. Intracranial puncture with the YL-1 needle is a simple procedure, economical and minimally invasive; also, and it can greatly decrease or avoid complications by taking effective measures during operation.
