ABSTRACT

The sodium (Na) superionic conductor is a key component that could revolutionize the energy density and safety of conventional Na-ion batteries. However, existing Na superionic conductors are primarily based on a single-anion framework, each presenting inherent advantages and disadvantages. Here we introduce a family of amorphous Na-ion conductors (Na2O2-MCly, M = Hf, Zr and Ta) based on the dual-anion framework of oxychloride. Benefiting from a dual-anion chemistry and with the resulting distinctive structures, Na2O2-MCly electrolytes exhibit room-temperature ionic conductivities up to 2.0 mS cm-1, wide electrochemical stability windows and desirable mechanical properties. All-solid-state Na-ion batteries incorporating amorphous Na2O2-HfCl4 electrolyte and a Na0.85Mn0.5Ni0.4Fe0.1O2 cathode exhibit a superior rate capability and long-term cycle stability, with 78% capacity retention after 700 cycles under 0.2 C (1C = 120 mA g-1) at room temperature. The discoveries in this work could trigger a new wave of enthusiasm for exploring new superionic conductors beyond those based on a single-anion framework.

ABSTRACT

Aging is a complex biological process that involves multi-level structural and physiological changes. Aging is a major risk factor for many chronic diseases. The accumulation of senescent cells changes the tissue microenvironment and is closely associated with the occurrence and development of tissue and organ fibrosis. Fibrosis is the result of dysregulated tissue repair response in the development of chronic inflammatory diseases. Recent studies have clearly indicated that SIRT2 is involved in regulating the progression of fibrosis, making it a potential target for anti-fibrotic drugs. SIRT2 is a NAD+ dependent histone deacetylase, shuttling between nucleus and cytoplasm, and is highly expressed in liver, kidney and heart, playing an important role in the occurrence and development of aging and fibrosis. Therefore, we summarized the role of SIRT2 in liver, kidney and cardiac fibrosis during aging.

ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION: Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a debilitating chronic condition characterized by inflammation of the joints, bones, enthesis, and skin. The pivotal role of interleukin-23 (IL-23) in the pathogenesis of PsA has become increasingly evident. This proinflammatory cytokine is markedly elevated in patients with PsA, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic target. Consequently, IL-23 inhibitors have emerged as promising first-line biologic treatments for PsA. AREAS COVERED: This review delves into the immunopathogenic mechanisms of IL-23 at the cellular and molecular levels in PsA. Furthermore, it provides the recent efficacy and safety profiles of IL-23 inhibitors. We conducted a literature search in PubMed for the following terms: 'IL-23 and psoriatic arthritis,' 'Ustekinumab,' 'Guselkumab,' 'Risankizumab,' and 'Tildrakizumab.' In addition, we retrieved clinical trials involving IL-23 inhibitors registered in ClinicalTrials.gov, EudraCT, and ICTRP. EXPERT OPINION: Despite the promising outcomes observed with IL-23 inhibitors, several challenges persist. The long-term effects of these agents require further investigation through prospective studies, and their limited accessibility worldwide necessitates urgent attention. Additionally, ongoing research is warranted to explore other potential drug targets within the IL-23/IL-23 R axis. The development of reliable biomarkers could greatly enhance early detection, tailored management strategies, and personalized treatment approaches for patients with PsA.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES: To explore the factors associated with poor prognosis in critically ill patients with Electroencephalogram (EEG) patterns exhibiting stimulus-induced rhythmic, periodic, or ictal discharges (SIRPIDs), and to construct a prognostic prediction model. METHODS: This study included a total of 53 critically ill patients with EEG patterns exhibiting SIRPIDs who were admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from May 2023 to March 2024. Patients were divided into two groups based on their Modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scores at discharge: good prognosis group (0-3 points) and poor prognosis group (4-6 points). Retrospective analyses were performed on the clinical and EEG parameters of patients in both groups. Logistic regression analysis was applied to identify the risk factors related to poor prognosis in critically ill patients with EEG patterns exhibiting SIRPIDs; a risk prediction model for poor prognosis was constructed, along with an individualized predictive nomogram model, and the predictive performance and consistency of the model were evaluated. RESULTS: Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that APACHE II score (OR=1.217, 95 %CI=1.030∼1.438), slow frequency bands or no obvious brain electrical activity (OR=8.720, 95 %CI=1.220∼62.313), and no sleep waveforms (OR=9.813, 95 %CI=1.371∼70.223) were independent risk factors for poor prognosis in patients. A regression model established based on multivariate logistic regression analysis had an area under the curve of 0.902. The model's accuracy was 90.60 %, with a sensitivity of 92.86 % and a specificity of 89.70 %. The nomogram model, after internal validation, showed a concordance index of 0.904. CONCLUSIONS: A high APACHE II score, EEG patterns with slow frequency bands or no obvious brain electrical activity, and no sleep waveforms were independent risk factors for poor prognosis in patients with SIRPIDs. The nomogram model constructed based on these factors had a favorably high level of accuracy in predicting the risk of poor prognosis and held certain reference and application value for clinical neurofunctional assessment and prognostic determination.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: This study harnesses the power of text mining to quantitatively investigate the causative factors of falls in adult inpatients, offering valuable references and guidance for fall prevention measures within hospitals. METHODS: Employing KH Coder 3.0, a cutting-edge text mining software, we performed co-occurrence network analysis and text clustering on fall incident reports of 2,772 adult patients from a nursing quality control platform in a particular city in Jiangsu Province, spanning January 2017 to December 2022. RESULTS: Among the 2,772 patients who fell, 80.23% were aged above 60, and 73.27% exhibited physical frailty. Text clustering yielded 16 distinct categories, with four clusters implicating patient factors, four linking falls to toileting processes, four highlighting dynamic interplays between patients, the environment, and objects, and another four clusters revealing the influence of patient-caregiver interactions in causing falls. CONCLUSION: This study highlights the complex, multifactorial nature of falls in adult inpatients. Effective prevention requires a collaborative effort among healthcare staff, patients, and caregivers, focusing on patient vulnerabilities, environmental factors, and improved care coordination. By strengthening these aspects, hospitals can significantly reduce fall risks and promote patient safety.

ABSTRACT

The electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (ECR) is a promising pathway to producing valuable chemicals and fuels. Despite extensive studies reported, improving CO2 adsorption for local CO2 enrichment or water dissociation to generate sufficient H* is still not enough to achieve industrial-relevant current densities. Herein, we report a "two-in-one" catalyst, defective Bi nanosheets modified by CrOx (Bi-CrOx), to simultaneously promote CO2 adsorption and water dissociation, thereby enhancing the activity and selectivity of ECR to formate. The Bi-CrOx exhibits an excellent Faradic efficiency (≈ 100 %) in a wide potential range from ‒0.4 to ‒0.9 V. In addition, it achieves a remarkable formate partial current density of 687 mA cm‒2 at a moderate potential of ‒0.9 V without iR compensation, the highest value at ‒0.9 V reported so far. Control experiments and theoretical simulations revealed that the defective Bi facilitates CO2 adsorption/activation while the CrOx accounts for enhancing the protonation process via accelerating H2O dissociation. This work presents a pathway to boosting formate production through tuning CO2 and H2O species at the same time.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND & AIMS: The mechanisms underlying the regulation of hepatocyte non-receptor tyrosine kinases in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) remain largely unclear. METHODS: Hepatocyte-specific overexpression or deletion and anti-protein tyrosine kinase 2 beta (PYK2) or anti-TRAF6-binding protein (T6BP) crosslinking were utilised to study fatty liver protection by T6BP. P-PTC, a peptide-proteolysis targeting chimaera, degrades PYK2 to block MASH progression. RESULTS: Since PYK2 activation is promoter signalling in steatohepatitis development, we find that T6BP is a novel and critical suppressor of PYK2 that reduces hepatic lipid accumulation, pro-inflammatory factor release, and pro-fibrosis production by ubiquitin ligase CBL to degrade PYK2. Mechanistic evidence suggests that T6BP directly targets PYK2 and prevents its N-terminal FERM domain-triggered dimerization, disrupting downstream PYK2-JNK signalling hyperactivation. Additionally, T6BP favourably recruits CBL, a particular E3 ubiquitin ligase targeting PYK2, to form a complex and degrade PYK2. T6BP (F1), a core fragment of T6BP, directly blocks N-terminal FERM domain-associated dimerization of PYK2, followed by T6BP-recruiting CBL-mediated PYK2 degradation in a typical T6BP-dependent manner when the tiny fragment is specifically expressed using thyroxine binding globulin (TBG)-ground vectors. This inhibits the progression of MASH, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD)-related HCC (MASH-HCC), and metabolic syndrome in dietary rodent models. First-ever peptide-proteolysis targeting chimaera (P-PTC) based on the core segment of T6BP as a ligand for targeted recruitment of CBL targeting metabolic disorders like MASH has been devised and validated in animal models. CONCLUSIONS: Our study revealed a previously unknown mechanism: identification of T6BP as a key eliminator of fatty liver strongly contributes to the development of promising therapeutic targets, and the discovery of crucial fragments of T6BP-based pharmacon that interrupt PYK2 dimerization are novel and viable treatments for fatty liver and its advanced symptoms and complications. IMPACT AND IMPLICATIONS: Excessive high-energy diet ingestion is critical in driving steatohepatitis via regulation of hepatocyte non-receptor tyrosine kinases. The mechanisms under lying the regulation of hepatocyte PYK2 in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) remain largely unclear. Here, we found that T6BP as a critical fatty liver eliminator has a significant impact on the development of promising therapeutic targets. Additionally, vital T6BP-based pharmacon fragments that impede PYK2 dimerization have been found, offering new and effective treatments for advanced fatty liver symptoms and complications.

ABSTRACT

Background: Due to the absence of biomarkers, the misdiagnosis of essential tremor (ET) with other tremor diseases and enhanced physiologic tremor is very common in practice. Combined radiomics based on diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and three-dimensional T1-weighted imaging (3D-T1) with machine learning (ML) give a most promising way to identify essential tremor (ET) at the individual level and further reveal the potential imaging biomarkers. Methods: Radiomics features were extracted from 3D-T1 and DTI in 103 ET patients and 103 age-and sex-matched healthy controls (HCs). After data dimensionality reduction and feature selection, five classifiers, including the support vector machine (SVM), random forest (RF), logistic regression (LR), extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) and multi-layer perceptron (MLP), were adopted to discriminate ET from HCs. The mean values of the area under the curve (mAUC) and accuracy were used to assess the model's performance. Furthermore, a correlation analysis was conducted between the most discriminative features and clinical tremor characteristics. Results: All classifiers achieved good classification performance (with mAUC at 0.987, 0.984, 0.984, 0.988 and 0.981 in the test set, respectively). The most powerful discriminative features mainly located in the cerebella-thalamo-cortical (CTC) and visual pathway. Furthermore, correlation analysis revealed that some radiomics features were significantly related to the clinical tremor characteristics in ET patients. Conclusion: These results demonstrated that combining radiomics with ML algorithms could not only achieve high classification accuracy for identifying ET but also help us to reveal the potential brain microstructure pathogenesis in ET patients.

BACKGROUND: Aortic dissection (AD) is a life-threatening cardiovascular emergency that is often misdiagnosed as other chest pain conditions. Physiologically, AD may cause abnormalities in peripheral blood flow, which can be detected using pulse oximetry waveforms. PURPOSE: This study aimed to assess the feasibility of identifying AD based on pulse oximetry waveforms and to highlight the key waveform features that play a crucial role in this diagnostic method. METHODS: This prospective study employed high-risk chest pain cohorts from two emergency departments. The initial cohort was enriched with AD patients (n = 258, 47% AD) for model development, while the second cohort consisted of chest pain patients awaiting angiography (n = 71, 25% AD) and was used for external validation. Pulse oximetry waveforms from the four extremities were collected for each patient. After data preprocessing, a recognition model based on the random forest algorithm was trained using patients' gender, age, and waveform difference features extracted from the pulse oximetry waveforms. The performance of the model was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis and decision curve analysis (DCA). The importance of features was also assessed using Shapley Value and Gini importance. RESULTS: The model demonstrated strong performance in identifying AD in both the training and external validation sets. In the training set, the model achieved an area under the ROC curve of 0.979 (95% CI: 0.961-0.990), sensitivity of 0.918 (95% CI: 0.873-0.955), specificity of 0.949 (95% CI: 0.912-0.985), and accuracy of 0.933 (95% CI: 0.904-0.959). In the external validation set, the model attained an area under the ROC curve of 0.855 (95% CI: 0.720-0.965), sensitivity of 0.889 (95% CI: 0.722-1.000), specificity of 0.698 (95% CI: 0.566-0.812), and accuracy of 0.794 (95% CI: 0.672-0.878). Decision curve analysis (DCA) further showed that the model provided a substantial net benefit for identifying AD. The median mean and median variance of the four limbs' signals were the most influential features in the recognition model. CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrated the feasibility and strong performance of identifying AD based on peripheral pulse oximetry waveforms in high-risk chest pain populations in the emergency setting. The findings also provided valuable insights for future human fluid dynamics simulations to elucidate the impact of AD on blood flow in greater detail.

OBJECTIVE: Continuous research on the structure and function of intestinal microecology has confirmed the association between gut microbiota and the occurrence, development, and outcome of allergic diseases. Here, we explored the genetic causality between gut microbiota and rhinitis. METHODS: We conducted a two-sample Mendelian Randomization (MR) study to investigate the genetic causal relationship between gut microbiota and allergic rhinitis and vasomotor rhinitis. Genetic variations in the human gut microbiota were obtained from the summary statistics of the MiBioGen study. Genome-wide summary statistics of rhinitis were obtained from the FinnGen consortium. The causal effect between gut microbiota and rhinitis was assessed using the inverse variance weighted, MR-Egger regression, and weighted median methods. In addition, sensitivity analyses were conducted using different methods, including maximum likelihood, simple mode, and weighted model methods. RESULTS: The IVW approach revealed a causal association of the genus Ruminococcus gauvreauii group with an increased risk of allergic rhinitis (IVW Odds Ratio [OR = 1.26] [1.04, 1.53], p-value = 0.01645). In addition, the genus Fusicatenibacter (IVW OR = 1.20 [1.02, 1.41], p-value = 0.02868) was causally associated with an increased risk of vasomotor rhinitis. CONCLUSION: Gut microbiota belonging to different genera exert different effects on allergic rhinitis and vasomotor rhinitis, including reducing the risk of rhinitis, and increasing the risk of rhinitis. New insights into the mechanisms of underlying gut microbiota-associated rhinitis are provided. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Level 5.

ABSTRACT

This research aimed to systematically uncover the metastatic characteristics and survival rates of lung cancer subtypes and to evaluate the impact of surgery at the primary tumor site on cancer-specific survival in DM lung cancer. We used the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database (2010-2019) to identify primary lung cancers with DM at presentation (M1). Kaplan-Meier (KM) survival curves were generated and compared utilizing log-rank tests. Cox regression methods were employed to determine hazard ratios (HR) and 95% confidence intervals related to CSS factors. Inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW) was applied to reduce bias. We analyzed 77,827 M1 lung cancer cases, with 41.22% having DM at presentation. Bone metastasis was most common in ADC, ASC, SCC, LCC; brain in LCNEC; liver in SCLC. Lung was common in TC + AC and SCC. Long-term survival was best in TC + AC and worst in SCLC (p < 0.001). Male gender, age < 50, primary tumor site (main bronchus, lower lobe), large tumor diameter, ADC/SCLC/SCC pathology, and regional lymph node involvement were significant risk factors for multiorgan metastasis. Age ≥ 50, male, large tumor diameter, positive lymph nodes, and multiorgan metastases were associated with lower CSS. In contrast, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, systemic therapy, and surgery were associated with higher CSS rates. Primary tumor resection improved survival in lung cancer patients (excluding small cell lung cancer, SCLC) with single organ metastases (KM log rank p < 0.001, HR = 0.6165; 95% CI (0.5468-0.6951)), especially in brain (p < 0.001, HR = 0.6467; 95% CI (0.5505-0.7596)) and bone (p = 0.182, HR = 0.6289; p < 0.01), but not in liver or intrapulmonary metastases after IPTW. Significant differences in DM patterns and corresponding survival rates exist among lung cancer subtypes. Primary tumor resection improves survival in lung cancer patients (excluding small cell lung cancer, SCLC) with single organ metastases, with better outcomes in patients with brain and bone metastases, while no significant benefit was seen in patients with liver and intrapulmonary metastases.

ABSTRACT

Ag2Se shows significant potential for near-room-temperature thermoelectric applications, but its performance and device design are still evolving. In this work, we design a novel flexible Ag2Se thin-film-based thermoelectric device with optimized electrode materials and structure, achieving a high output power density of over 65 W m-2 and a normalized power density up to 3.68 µW cm-2 K-2 at a temperature difference of 42 K. By fine-tuning vapor selenization time, we strengthen the (013) orientation and carrier mobility of Ag2Se films, reducing excessive Ag interstitials and achieving a power factor of over 29 µW cm-1 K-2 at 393 K. A protective layer boosts flexibility of the thin film, retaining 90% performance after 1000 bends at 60°. Coupled with p-type Sb2Te3 thin films and rational simulations, the device shows rapid human motion response and precise servo motor control, highlighting the potential of high-performance Ag2Se thin films in advanced applications.

ABSTRACT

Background: Clarithromycin plays an important role in eradicating Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) through quadruple therapy. However, there is limited research on whether different forms of clarithromycin dosage have similar efficacies against H. pylori. Objective: We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of different forms of clarithromycin dosage in bismuth-containing quadruple therapy for eradicating H. pylori. Design: A single-center retrospective analysis comparing the efficacy of different forms of clarithromycin dosage in eradicating H. pylori. Methods: An analysis was conducted on patients diagnosed with H. pylori infection through the 13C-urea breath test (13C-UBT) at Henan Provincial People's Hospital, China from 2020 to 2022 who were treated with either a dispersible or sustained-release clarithromycin tablet (500 mg each), alongside amoxicillin (1000 mg), a standard dose of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), and bismuth citrate (220 mg), administered twice daily as part of bismuth-containing quadruple therapy. Treatment efficacy was assessed using 13C-UBT at least 4 weeks after treatment completion. The H. pylori eradication rate was the primary outcome of this study, and factors influencing it were analyzed. Results: Among 2094 screened patients, 307 with H. pylori infection (mean age, 41.8 ± 0.7 years; 43% men) received bismuth-containing quadruple therapy. Univariate analysis of the dispersible and sustained-release tablet groups revealed a lower eradication rate with the sustained-release tablet compared with the dispersible clarithromycin tablet regimen (75.26% (73/97) vs 95.26% (200/210), respectively; p < 0.05). Other factors, such as smoking, age, and PPI type, were not significantly associated with the cure rate. Multivariate analysis identified the form of clarithromycin dosage (dispersible vs sustained-release) to be an independent risk factor for eradication failure using the bismuth-containing quadruple therapy (odds ratio = 0.145, 95% confidence interval: (0.065-0.323); p < 0.05). Conclusion: The clarithromycin dispersible tablet demonstrated a higher H. pylori eradication rate, and the sustained-release clarithromycin tablet may be inappropriate for H. pylori eradication.

AIM(S): The study aimed to investigate the current status of physical activity (PA) levels and associated factors among lung cancer survivors who have undergone nonsurgical treatments. BACKGROUND: PA has been incorporated as a nonpharmacological intervention in the rehabilitation programmes of cancer patients, playing a crucial role in alleviating symptom burden and enhancing the quality of life among lung cancer survivors. Understanding the potential influencing factors of PA levels aids in formulating targeted intervention strategies. DESIGN: A multicentre cross-sectional study. METHODS: Convenience sampling was utilised to survey lung cancer survivors from the respiratory and oncology departments of 12 hospitals across Eastern, Central and Western China, spanning from June 2023 to January 2024. Social demographic characteristics, disease-related features, health behaviour abilities, psychological factors and levels of PA were collected through a combination of clinical case systems used to record patients' treatment and medical conditions and self-reported questionnaires. Additionally, measurements of grip strength and the 6-min walk test were conducted for patients. Descriptive analysis, bivariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression were conducted. RESULTS: Only 109 patients (16.2%) achieved high PA levels. Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated differences in age, residential location, employment status, religion, lung cancer stage, grip strength, albumin concentration, blood urea, Anderson symptom, depression and health behaviour capacity among lung cancer survivors with varying PA levels. CONCLUSIONS: Significant associations were observed between age ≥ 75 years, residing in urban areas, unemployment, absence of religious beliefs, Stage IV lung cancer, lower grip strength, lower albumin concentration, higher blood urea, higher Anderson symptom scores, lower health behaviour capacity scores, higher depression scores and lower PA levels among lung cancer survivors. These potential factors should be considered when developing PA intervention plans. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE: This study offers insights for developing subsequent PA intervention programmes. In clinical practice, healthcare professionals should continuously educate patients about the benefits of exercise and help them incorporate PA into their daily lives. Additionally, emphasising multidisciplinary collaboration involving physical therapists, nutritionists and mental health experts is crucial for ensuring safe and effective PA, thereby improving patients' quality of life. ABSTRACT

How to precisely control and efficiently utilize the physical processes such as high temperature, high pressure, and shockwaves during the collapse of cavitation bubbles is a focal concern in the field of cavitation applications. The viscosity change of the liquid will affect the bubble dynamics in turn, and further affect the precise control of intensity of cavitation field. This study used high-speed photography technology and schlieren optical path system to observe the spatiotemporal evolution of shockwaves in liquid with different viscosities. It was found that as the viscosity of the liquid increased, the wave front of the collapse shockwave of the cavitation bubble gradually thickened. Furthermore, a high-frequency pressure testing system was used to quantitatively analyze the influence of viscosity on the intensity of the shockwave. It was found that the pressure peak of the shockwave in different viscous liquid was proportional to Lb (L represented the distance between the center of bubble and the sensor measuring point), and the larger the viscosity was, the smaller the value of b was. Through in-depth analysis, it was found that as the viscosity of the liquid increased, the proportion of the shockwave energy of first bubble collapse to the maximal mechanical energy of bubble gradually decreased. The proportion of the mechanical energy of rebounding bubble to the maximal mechanical energy of bubble gradually increased. These new findings have an important theoretical significance for the efficient utilization of ultrasonic cavitation.

ABSTRACT

Background: The worldwide geographical and temporal variation in the prevalence of diabetes represents a challenge, but also an opportunity for gaining etiological insights. Encompassing the bulk of East Asians, a large and distinct proportion of the world population, China can be a source of valuable epidemiological insights for diabetes, especially in early life, when pathophysiology begins. We carried out a nationwide, epidemiological survey of Prevalence and Risk of Obesity and Diabetes in Youth (PRODY) in China, from 2017 to 2019, to estimate the population-based prevalence of diagnosed pediatric diabetes and screen for undiagnosed pediatric type 2 diabetes (T2D). Methods: PRODY was a nation-wide, school population-based, cross-sectional, multicenter survey by questionnaire, fasting urine glucose test and simple oral glucose tolerance test (s-OGTT), among a total number of 193,801 general-population children and adolescents (covered a pediatric population of more than 96.8 million), aged 3-18, from twelve provinces across China. The prevalence of the self-reported pediatric diabetes, the proportion of subtypes, the crude prevalence of undiagnosed T2D and prediabetes in general juvenile population and the main risk factors of type 1 (T1D) and type 2 (T2D) diabetes had been analyzed in the study. Findings: The prevalence of all self-reported pediatric diabetes was estimated at 0.62/1000 (95% CI: 0.51-0.74), with T1D at 0.44/1000 (95% CI: 0.35-0.54) and T2D at 0.18/1000 (95% CI: 0.13-0.25). For undiagnosed T2D, the crude prevalence was almost ten-fold higher, at 1.59/1000, with an estimated extra 28.45/1000 of undiagnosed impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) and 53.74/1000 of undiagnosed impaired fasting glucose (IFG) by s-OGTT screening. Maternal diabetes history is the major risk factors for all subtypes of pediatric diabetes in China. Interpretation: The PRODY study provides the first population-based estimate of the prevalence of pediatric diabetes China and reveals a magnitude of the problem of undiagnosed pediatric T2D. We propose a practical screening strategy by s-OGTT to address this serious gap. ABSTRACT

In this work, a smart self-healing coating with long-term anticorrosion ability was developed based on multiresponsive polyaniline (PANI) porous microspheres. The polyaniline porous microspheres loaded with corrosion inhibitor (benzotriazole, BTA) was prepared by the emulsion template method and photopolymerization. The BTA loaded in the polyaniline microspheres acted as a corrosion inhibitor, while the polyaniline in the shell performed the multiple functions of corrosion inhibition, pH-responsive and photoresponsive release, and photothermal conversion. Owing to the inherent corrosion-inhibiting nature of BTA and PANI, the BTA-loaded polyaniline microsphere could endow coating with dual anticorrosive properties. The coating with polyaniline microspheres did not show any corrosion product after 700 h of salt spray testing, while obvious pitting corrosion could be observed for the blank coating after 100 h of the salt spray test. Thanks to the photothermal properties of PANI, the composite coating exhibited self-healing behavior under NIR light irradiation. The coating with 10 wt % polyaniline microspheres could achieve rapid closure and recover its barrier properties within 5 s of NIR irradiation. And the release of BTA could form a passivation film on scratches to further repair coating defects. The on-command responsive release, high healing efficiency, and excellent anticorrosion properties of this dual self-healing anticorrosion coating provide perspectives on extending the service life of metals.

Full-thickness macular hole (FTMH) leads to central vision loss. It is essential to identify patients with FTMH at high risk of postoperative failure accurately to achieve anatomical closure. This study aimed to construct a predictive model for the anatomical outcome of FTMH after surgery. A retrospective study was performed, analyzing 200 eyes from 197 patients diagnosed with FTMH. Radiomics features were extracted from optical coherence tomography (OCT) images. Logistic regression, support vector machine (SVM), and backpropagation neural network (BPNN) classifiers were trained and evaluated. Decision curve analysis and survival analysis were performed to assess the clinical implications. Sensitivity, specificity, F1 score, and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) were calculated to assess the model effectiveness. In the training set, the AUC values were 0.998, 0.988, and 0.995, respectively. In the test set, the AUC values were 0.941, 0.943, and 0.968, respectively. The OCT-omics scores were significantly higher in the "Open" group than in the "Closed" group and were positively correlated with the minimum diameter (MIN) and base diameter (BASE) of FTMH. Therefore, in this study, we developed a model with robust discriminative ability to predict the postoperative anatomical outcome of FTMH.

Research efforts on electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials have begun to converge on green and sustainable biomass materials. These materials offer numerous advantages such as being lightweight, porous, and hierarchical. Due to their porous nature, interfacial compatibility, and electrical conductivity, biomass materials hold significant potential as EMI shielding materials. Despite concerted efforts on the EMI shielding of biomass materials have been reported, this research area is still relatively new compared to traditional EMI shielding materials. In particular, a more comprehensive study and summary of the factors influencing biomass EMI shielding materials including the pore structure adjustment, preparation process, and micro-control would be valuable. The preparation methods and characteristics of wood, bamboo, cellulose and lignin in EMI shielding field are critically discussed in this paper, and similar biomass EMI materials are summarized and analyzed. The composite methods and fillers of various biomass materials were reviewed. this paper also highlights the mechanism of EMI shielding as well as existing prospects and challenges for development trends in this field.

Background: Rapid recovery after lung cancer surgery is challenging. Exercise is a low-cost, effective method to expedite recovery. Despite numerous exercise interventions, many fail to consider patient perspectives, leading to low adherence and short-term effects. Understanding lung cancer patients' perspectives on postoperative exercise and exploring their exercise-related concerns and needs are crucial for enhancing the effectiveness of exercise-based rehabilitation programs. Objective: This study aims to analyze lung cancer patients' perspectives on postoperative exercise in their daily lives, exploring their concerns and needs related to postoperative exercise to help healthcare professionals develop personalized exercise plans. Methods: An internet crawling technique collected online inquiries from Baidu webpages about postoperative physical activity in lung cancer patients, using "lung cancer", "surgery", and "exercise" as keywords. The data was encoded, categorized, and analyzed using a large-scale semantic analysis platform in natural language processing and information retrieval to examine term frequency, sentiment tendencies, and attributes in the inquiry texts. Results: Initially, 2727 queries were retrieved; after screening, deduplication, and cleansing, 201 unique queries were identified. Queries related to "modes of exercise" constituted the largest proportion. The most frequently occurring words in the word frequency analysis were "lung", " cancer", "should", "can", "long", "early", and "surgery", "exercise", "respiratory". Postoperative lung cancer patients demonstrate significant interest in whether they should engage in exercise, as well as in the appropriate types and duration of such activities, indicating a strong need for detailed guidance and knowledge related to exercise. The sentiment analysis showed a positive score of 87.5% and a negative score of 12.5%, indicating that postoperative lung cancer patients view exercise positively and have an enthusiastic attitude towards it. Among the positive sentiment attributes, "good" was the most frequently mentioned term, whereas "bad" and "surprising" were the most prevalent terms within the negative sentiment attributes. Conclusion: Postoperative physical activity receives limited attention from lung cancer patients, who emphasize their preferences for exercise modalities. Their inquiries often reflect psychological concerns, such as fear and helplessness caused by symptoms. Understanding patients' perspectives on postoperative physical activity within their real-life contexts can help integrate psychological support into exercise plans. This integration could guide healthcare professionals in developing more personalized postoperative exercise regimens for lung cancer patients.
