ABSTRACT

Due to its heavy reliance on fossil fuels and rapid urbanization, China's economic growth is accompanied by environmental problems. Hence, it is vital to solve the issue by promoting green growth and finding factors to boost it. The current study presents FinTech as a factor enhancing green growth in China through the mediation effect of the energy transition. The green growth index is created through a comprehensive literature review and selecting the most critical indicators. It has been established through benchmark regression that FinTech positively affects green growth in China. However, results also prove that the energy transition is the path through which FinTech affects green growth. Policymakers are advised to direct their efforts toward the energy transition and FinTech to solve the problems related to China's rapid economic growth.

ABSTRACT

Saudi Arabia is in a great position to create low-cost green hydrogen to diversify the economy and assist other nations in meeting carbon emission reduction targets due to the abundance of renewable energy sources, including solar and wind. The country may achieve this by becoming a leader in green hydrogen exports. The current research explores the prospects of green hydrogen production in the Saudi Arabia to demonstrate the current stage of hydrogen production in these countries. Previous studies checked renewable energy and carbon emissions nexus; however, in this study, hydrogen-based energy indicators are used for the first time. Also, contrary to the secondary data, forecasted data is used in this study. Through autoregressive distributive lag model is applied on Saudi Arabian data from 2020 to 2050. Results show that blue natural gas is significantly and positively related to carbon emission in the long run. Also, the relationship between green renewable energy and carbon emission is significant and negative and long and short run.

ABSTRACT

The world faces immense pressure regarding the negative impacts of increased greenhouse gas emissions, climate change, global warming, droughts, and many other environmental problems. Australia is also facing the same issues and requires urgent attention. In this research, we have examined the effect of hydrogen firms on Australia's greenhouse gas emissions. We employed the monthly data from January 2002 to December 2021 for econometric estimations. Through quantile regression, it is noted that the expansion of hydrogen firms contributes to environmental pollution instead of controlling the emissions. Most hydrogen energy still emits carbon dioxide, which contributes to climate change. Around the world, carbon-containing fossil fuels produce more than 95% of hydrogen energy. However, as a policy suggestion, it is recommended that green hydrogen produced by electrolysis of water using renewable energy sources will succeed in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

ABSTRACT

This study investigates the economic and environmental issues of Saudi Arabia, a net exporter of crude oil mainly relying on oil exports, which faces economic crises due to the decline in oil prices. For this purpose, we highlighted the main challenges of the Saudi economy, such as oil price shocks and a significant increase in military expenditures. The economic and environmental issues are vital for the country's development and sustainability. Saudi Arabia is a major exporter of fossil fuels, which threatens its long-term economic growth due to the global transition towards renewables. Also, heavy dependence on fossil fuels is deteriorating the environment as well. On account of this, we extended the Solow growth model by augmenting oil prices, military expenditure, and exports. Similarly, the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) bound testing approach is used to find the long-term as well as the short-term nexus between variables. The study provides innovative findings regarding the country's role in oil price fluctuations, exports, and heavy military expenditures. In the short run, higher oil prices are increasing the economic process. In the long run, higher oil prices have a significant and negative impact. Military expenditure and exports have a significant and positive relationship with economic growth in the case of long-run analysis. For carbon emissions, the rise in oil prices helps reduce carbon emissions. In comparison, higher exports are also responsible for carbon emissions. The study proposes innovative and fruitful policies regarding the economic prosperity of Saudi Arabia, such as increasing the military expenditure to maintain peace in the region and increasing the exports of oil products, as well as non-oil products, to have shelter from oil price shocks.

ABSTRACT

This article attempts to examine the role of creativity on carbon intensity in case of Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) countries. The panel estimation techniques are used for annual data for the period of 1990-2018. The empirical evidence affirms that patent rights and innovation act as a policy factor in controlling carbon intensity, i.e. creativity leads to energy-efficient and environment friendly society. However, innovations have higher magnitude compared to patent. Contrarily, urbanization and economic growth are the key determinants in enhancing carbon intensity, while renewable energy has insignificant impact on carbon intensity. The empirical analysis, especially for creativity, can add practical implications for related authorities in controlling carbon intensity and improving energy efficiency.

ABSTRACT

In recent years, the international community is struggling to achieve sustainable economic and environmental goals. Despite of the large literature, the impact of blue economy on sustainable growth and environment is missing, for the case of Saudi Arabia. The current study incorporates the energy, green, and blue indicators to examine the impact on sustainable goals of Saudi Arabia. For econometric estimations, we use the nonlinear ARDL approach to estimate the full sample and post-Vision 2030 sample. The findings confirm that blue economic activities are not mature enough to participate its role to achieve sustainable targets of Saudi Vision 2030. The outcomes of current study depict that blue indicators are neglected to attain sustainable economic and environmental goals. In view of econometric outcomes, we propose that Saudi Arabia have to emphasize on sea trade and ocean tourism. Moreover, the findings are useful to estimate the sustainable targets of Saudi Vision 2030.

ABSTRACT

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) information can be effectively disseminated via social media in a variety of industries, including the hospitality sector. In the same way, the media has a significant impact on CSR because the news media helps companies achieve their CSR goals. Prior research has not examined the main factors that influence electronic word of mouth (eWOM) on media coverage of CSR issues via social networking websites. For the purpose of examining the most significant predictors of intention to share or comment on negative CSR news reported by one media outlet on a specific social networking site (SNS). 677 Wechat users in China were surveyed in order to test the proposed model empirically. According to the findings of the study, eWOM intentions are positively influenced by environmental CSR content, and advertisement related CSR content. It also confirmed that the value of information is positively influenced by the credibility of the source. The variables interpersonal influencer impact and privacy concerns had no significant relationship, nor did they have any significant relationship with the intentions to share and comment on Wechat. Further the study findings suggest the theoretical and managerial policy recommendation for decision makers.

ABSTRACT

During the pandemic, the stock markets of developed countries have reported a jittery trend. The current study focuses on the impact of COVID-19 on Pakistani stock market, which belongs to a developing economy. The findings of current study have contradicted with the previous studies, which reported an adverse effect of COVID-19 on developed stock markets. We conclude that KSE-100 index has confirmed positive increment in stock returns. In addition, by using three predicted scenarios of COVID-19, we report the significant increase in KSE-100 index. However, it seems clear that the timely intervention of Pakistani government has safeguard the investors from utter disaster of stock market.

ABSTRACT

The outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is a public health emergency that had caused disastrous results in more than 100 countries. The ability to detect disease outbreaks in the early stages is a key component of efficient disease control and prevention. With the increased availability of electronic health-care data and spatial analysis techniques, there is great potential to develop algorithms to enable more effective disease surveillance. The research focuses to develop a transparent user-friendly method to simulate the outbreak data. The paper describes the GIS tools to identify and define the field of investigation which requires consideration of the strengths and limitations of data collection instruments, facility of locational data collection, accuracy of locational data, and pertinent attributes for understanding disease risk. Using such information, it is quite easy for authorities to locate the highly effected area and take appropriate actions in that particular areas. However, GIS techniques, resources, and methods can be used in Pakistan for more effective investigation of vulnerable geographical locations.
