ABSTRACT
In a co-operative study, all patients with suspected intrarticular pathology intended for surgery have been examined by double-contrast arthrography pre-operatively. In those subsequently undergoing arthrotomy, a clinico-pathological correlation was done. In our hands, there is good correlation of pre-operative diagnosis and operative findings. In many instances, unnecessary operations have been avoided because of the availability of arthrographic information. The value of arthrography in the diagnosis of intrarticular pathology especially meniscal tears and non-radio-opaque loose bodies as well as some rare and exotic conditions are emphasised (AU)
