ABSTRACT

Intrigued by the discovery of the long lifetime in the α-Ta/Al2O3-based Transmon qubit, researchers recently found α-Ta film is a promising platform for fabricating multi-qubits with long coherence time. To meet the requirements for integrating superconducting quantum circuits, the ideal method is to grow α-Ta film on a silicon substrate compatible with industrial manufacturing. Here we report the α-Ta film sputter-grown on Si (100) with a low-loss superconducting TiNx buffer layer. The α-Ta film with a large growth temperature window has a good crystalline character. The superconducting critical transition temperature (Tc) and residual resistivity ratio (RRR) in the α-Ta film grown at 500 °C are higher than that in the α-Ta film grown at room temperature (RT). These results provide crucial experimental clues toward understanding the connection between the superconductivity and the materials' properties in the α-Ta film and open a new route for producing a high-quality α-Ta film on silicon substrate for future industrial superconducting quantum computers.

ABSTRACT

The pandemic caused by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has continuously wreaked havoc on human health. Computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) system based on chest computed tomography (CT) has been a hotspot option for COVID-19 diagnosis. However, due to the high cost of data annotation in the medical field, it happens that the number of unannotated data is much larger than the annotated data. Meanwhile, having a highly accurate CAD system always requires a large amount of labeled data training. To solve this problem while meeting the needs, this paper presents an automated and accurate COVID-19 diagnosis system using few labeled CT images. The overall framework of this system is based on the self-supervised contrastive learning (SSCL). Based on the framework, our enhancement of our system can be summarized as follows. 1) We integrated a two-dimensional discrete wavelet transform with contrastive learning to fully use all the features from the images. 2) We use the recently proposed COVID-Net as the encoder, with a redesign to target the specificity of the task and learning efficiency. 3) A new pretraining strategy based on contrastive learning is applied for broader generalization ability. 4) An additional auxiliary task is exerted to promote performance during classification. The final experimental result of our system attained 93.55%, 91.59%, 96.92% and 94.18% for accuracy, recall, precision, and F1-score respectively. By comparing results with the existing schemes, we demonstrate the performance enhancement and superiority of our proposed system.

ABSTRACT

The metal-intercalated bilayer graphene has a flat band with a high density of states near the Fermi energy and thus is anticipated to exhibit an enhanced strong correlation effect and associated fascinating phenomena, including superconductivity. By using a self-developed multifunctional scanning tunneling microscope, we succeeded in observing the superconducting energy gap and diamagnetic response of a Ca-intercalated bilayer graphene below a critical temperature of 8.83 K. The revealed high value of gap ratio, 2Δ/kBTc ≈ 5.0, indicates a strong coupling superconductivity, while the variation of penetration depth with temperature and magnetic field indicates an isotropic s-wave superconductor. These results provide crucial experimental clues for understanding the origin and mechanism of superconductivity in carrier-doped graphene.

ABSTRACT

Intrigued by the discovery of high-temperature superconductivity in a single unit-cell layer of FeSe film on SrTiO_{3}, researchers recently found large superconductinglike energy gaps in K-adsorbed multilayer FeSe films by angle-resolved photoemission and scanning tunneling spectroscopy. However, the existence and nature of the high-temperature superconductivity inferred by the spectroscopic studies has not been investigated by measurements of zero resistance or the Meissner effect due to the fragility of K atoms in air. Using a self-developed multifunctional scanning tunneling microscope, we succeed in observing the diamagnetic response of K-adsorbed multilayer FeSe films, and thus find a dome-shaped relation between the critical temperature (T_{c}) and K coverage. Intriguingly, T_{c} exhibits an approximately linear dependence on the superfluid density in the whole K adsorbed region. Moreover, the quadratic low-temperature variation in the London penetration depth indicates a sign-reversal order parameter. These results provide compelling information towards further understanding of the high-temperature superconductivity in FeSe-derived superconductors.
