ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Head-to-head data for bictegravir/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide (BIC/F/TAF; B) and darunavir/cobicistat/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide (DRV/c/F/TAF; D) are lacking in the context of rapid antiretroviral therapy (ART) initiation. This study, BIC-T&T, evaluates the efficacy and tolerability of B vs D in a UK test-and-treat setting. SETTING: BIC-T&T was a randomised, open-label, multi-centre, study in which participants initiated ART within 14 days after confirmed HIV-1 diagnosis before baseline laboratory. METHODS: The primary endpoint is the virological response (HIV RNA < 50copies/mL) at week 12 by time-weighted average change in log10 HIV RNA recorded in viral load assays from treatment initiation to week 12, using two-sample Wilcoxon rank-sum test. RESULTS: 36 participants were randomised: 94% were male, 53% white; mean (SD) age was 35 years (11.8). Baseline mean (±SD) log10 HIV-RNA was 4.79 (± 0.87) log10 copies/mL and CD4 505 (±253) cells/mm3. The mean (±SD) time from confirmed HIV diagnosis to ART initiation was 7.9 (± 3.7) days. The time-weighted mean decrease in log10 HIV RNA from treatment initiation to week 12 was significantly greater in B in comparison to D (3.1 vs. 2.6 log10 copies/mL, p < 0.001). Both regimens demonstrated good tolerability with infrequent laboratory abnormalities and no grade 3 or 4 adverse events. CONCLUSION: In this first head-to-head study in the context of ART initiation, HIV RNA decline from baseline to week 12 was significantly more rapid for BIC/F/TAF compared with DRV/c/F/TAF.

ABSTRACT

We propose a photonic crystal (PC) nanostructure that combines bound states In the continuum (BIC) with a high-quality factor up to 107 for emitting circularly polarized beams. We break the in-plane inversion symmetry of the unit cell by tilting the triangular hole of the hexagonal lattice, resulting in the conversion of a symmetrically protected BIC to a quasi-BIC. High-quality circularly polarized light is obtained efficiently by adjusting the tilt angles of the hole and the thickness of the PC layer. By changing the hole's geometry in the unit cell, the Q-factor of circularly polarized light is further improved. The quality factor can be adjusted from 6.0 × 103 to 1.7 × 107 by deliberately changing the shape of the holes. Notably, the proposed nanostructure exhibits a large bandgap, which significantly facilitates the generation of stable single-mode resonance. The proposed structure is anticipated to have practical applications in the field of laser technology, particularly in the advancement of low-threshold PC surface emitting lasers (PCSELs).

ABSTRACT

Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) are at the forefront of nanophotonics because of their exceptional optical characteristics. The 2D architecture of TMDCs facilitates efficient light absorption and emission, holding tantalizing potential for next-generation nanophotonic and quantum devices. Yet, the atomic thinness limits their interaction volume with light, affecting light-matter interaction and quantum efficiency. The light coupling in the 2D layered TMDCs can be enhanced by integration with photonic structure, and the metasurfaces supporting bound states in the continuum (BICs) offer strong confinement of optical fields, ideal for coupling with 2D TMDCs. Here, we demonstrate enhanced light-matter coupling by integrating TMDC monolayers, including WSe2 and MoS2, with a finite-area membrane metasurface, leading to amplified and high-quality-factor (Q-factor) spontaneous emission from quasi-BIC-coupled TMDC monolayers. The high-Q-factor emission extends over an area with a scale of a few micrometers while maintaining the high-Q factor across the emission area. Notably, the suspended finite-area membrane metasurface, which is freestanding in air rather than positioned atop a substrate, minimizes radiation loss while enhancing light-matter interaction in the TMDC monolayer. Furthermore, the predominantly in-plane dipole orientation of excitons within TMDC monolayers results in distinctive enhancement behaviors for emission, contingent on the excitation power, when coupled with quasi-BIC modes exhibiting TE and TM resonances. This work introduces a nanophotonic platform for robust coupling of membrane metasurfaces with 2D materials, offering possibilities for developing 2D material-based nanophotonic and quantum devices.

The title compound, [Ru(C12H14NO2)Cl(η6-C6H6)], exhibits a half-sandwich tripod stand structure and crystallizes in the ortho-rhom-bic space group P212121. The arene group is η6 π-coordinated to the Ru atom with a centroid-to-metal distance of 1.6590 (5) Å, with the (S)-2-(4-isopropyl-4,5-di-hydro-oxazol-2-yl)phenolate chelate ligand forming a bite angle of 86.88 (19)° through its N and phenolate O atoms. The pseudo-octa-hedral geometry assumed by the complex is completed by a chloride ligand. The coordination of the optically pure bidentate ligand induces metal centered chirality onto the complex with a Flack parameter of -0.056.

ABSTRACT

Dynamic control for a strong circular dichroism (CD) response is essential in engineering applications such as polarization manipulation, sensing, and imaging. Here, we propose and experimentally demonstrate a broadband tunable dual CD response via bound states in the continuum (BICs) in two-dimensional topologically protected metasurfaces composed of all-dielectric Si chiral grating structures that generate a pair of mixed and degenerated BIC mode and circular dichroic mode (CDM) as an additional degree of freedom in CD manipulation. It is found that a singular CD peak of nearly 100% at 1.6 µm can be achieved by CDM when BIC is hidden under normal incidence, while the CD peak can be split into two in which peak wavelengths can be precisely and linearly tuned over a bandwidth of 180 nm by the incident angle when the BIC mode is excited under oblique incidence. Additionally, dynamic modulation of output polarization states from linear to circular can be arbitrarily achieved at the split CD peaks by controlling the incident angle when asymmetry perturbations on chiral gratings are introduced due to the decoupling of various polarization states at Γ point by BIC to different positions in K space. The proposed chiral grating metasurface exhibits unique angle-sensitive tunable CD spectral characteristics, making it ideal for hyperspectral and spin-selective wavefront shaping, and holds significant promise in various applications such as optical security, angle sensors, chiral lasers, nonlinear filters, and other active chiral optical devices.

ABSTRACT

Thanks to their giant, yet tunable, Q-factor resonances, all-dielectric metasurfaces supporting the quasi-bound states in the continuum (q-BIC) resonances are well-suited to provide a promising platform for quantum-coherent light-matter interactions. Yet, the strong coupling regime, characterized by the hybrid light-matter states - polaritons, has not yet been fully explored in the mid-infrared regime. This paper investigates the parameter space of vibrational strong coupling (VSC) between material and metasurface cavities supporting q-BIC resonances in the mid-infrared spectral range. We outline the effects of transition dipole strength, damping rate, and the number of molecules coupled to a single cavity, as well as the cavity damping rates, to understand their respective impacts on VSC. By tuning the Q-factor of the metasurface and material parameters, a new transition light-matter coupling zone is introduced, bridging the gap between weak and strong coupling, where polaritons form but their linewidths prohibit their spectral identification. The study further identifies the effects of cavity linewidth on polariton peak separability in strongly coupled systems, highlighting that the cavities with smaller nonradiative losses and narrower linewidths facilitate better polariton separability. Moreover, we found that matching cavity and material loss, satisfying the critical strong coupling condition, enhances the coupling strength between cavity and material. Overall, these findings can guide the design of photonic cavities suited for VSC experiments, contributing to the burgeoning fields of polaritonic chemistry, light-mediated modulation of chemical reactivity, and highly sensitive molecular spectroscopy.

Purpose: Atomic layer deposition (ALD) is a method that can deposit zirconia uniformly on an atomic basis. The effect of deposited zirconia on titanium implants using ALD was evaluated in vivo. Methods: Machined titanium implants (MTIs) were used as the Control. MTIs treated by sandblasting with large grit and acid etching (SA) and MTIs deposited with zirconia using ALD are referred to as Groups S and Z, respectively. Twelve implants were prepared for each group. Six rabbits were used as experimental animals. To evaluate the osteogenesis and osteocyte aspects around the implants, radiological and histological analyses were performed. The bone-to-implant contact (BIC) ratio was measured and statistically analyzed to evaluate the osseointegration capabilities. Results: In the micro-CT analysis, more radiopaque bone tissues were observed around the implants in Groups S and Z. Histological observation found that Groups S and Z had more and denser mature bone tissues around the implants in the cortical bone area. Many new and mature bone tissues were also observed in the medullary cavity area. For the BIC ratio, Groups S and Z were significantly higher than the Control in the cortical bone area (P < 0.017), but there was no significant difference between Groups S and Z. Conclusion: MTIs deposited with zirconia using ALD (Group Z) radiologically and histologically showed more mature bone formation and activated osteocytes compared with MTIs (Control). Group Z also had a significantly higher BIC ratio than the Control. Within the limitations of this study, depositing zirconia on the surface of MTIs using ALD can improve osseointegration in vivo.

ABSTRACT

Fungal pathogens deliver effector proteins into living plant cells to suppress plant immunity and control plant processes that are needed for infection. During plant infection, the devastating rice blast fungus, Magnaporthe oryzae, forms the specialized biotrophic interfacial complex (BIC), which is essential for effector translocation. Cytoplasmic effectors are first focally secreted into BICs, and subsequently packaged into dynamic membranous effector compartments (MECs), then translocated via clathrin-mediated endocytosis (CME) into the host cytoplasm. This study demonstrates that clathrin-heavy chain inhibitors endosidin-9 (ES9) and endosidin-9-17 (ES9-17) blocked the internalization of the fluorescently labeled effectors Bas1 and Pwl2 in rice cells, leading to swollen BICs lacking MECs. In contrast, ES9-17 treatment had no impact on the localization pattern of the apoplastic effector Bas4. This study provides further evidence that cytoplasmic effector translocation occurs by CME in BICs, suggesting a potential role for M. oryzae effectors in co-opting plant endocytosis.

ABSTRACT

Prohibited additives in infant formula severely affect the health of infants. Terahertz (THz) spectroscopy has enormous application potential in analyte detection due to its rich fingerprint information content. However, there is limited research on the mixtures of multiple analytes. In this study, we propose a split ring metasurface that supports magnetic dipole bound states in the continuum (BIC). By breaking the symmetry, quasi-BIC with a high quality (Q) factor can be generated. Utilizing an angle-scanning strategy, the frequency of the resonance dip can be shifted, resulting in the plotting of an envelope curve which can reflect the molecular fingerprint of the analytes. Two prohibited additives found in infant formula, melamine and vanillin, can be identified in different proportions. Furthermore, a metric similar to the resolution in chromatographic analysis is introduced and calculated to be 0.61, indicating that these two additives can be detected simultaneously. Our research provides a new solution for detecting additives in infant formula.

We consider the newly developed multinomial mixed-link models for a high-risk intestinal metaplasia (IM) study with DNA methylation data. Different from the traditional multinomial logistic models commonly used for categorical responses, the mixed-link models allow us to select the most appropriate link function for each category. We show that the selected multinomial mixed-link model (Model 1) using the total number of stem cell divisions (TNSC) based on DNA methylation data outperforms the traditional logistic models in terms of cross-entropy loss from ten-fold cross-validations with significant p-values 8.12×10-4 and 6.94×10-5. Based on our selected model, the significance of TNSC's effect in predicting the risk of IM is justified with a p-value less than 10-6. We also select the most appropriate mixed-link models (Models 2 and 3) when an additional covariate, the status of gastric atrophy, is available. When the status is negative, mild, or moderate, we recommend Model 2; otherwise, we prefer Model 3. Both Models 2 and 3 can predict the risk of IM significantly better than Model 1, which justifies that the status of gastric atrophy is informative in predicting the risk of IM.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: Multiple strategies have been utilised to reduce the incidence of HIV, including PrEP and rapid antiretroviral therapy initiation. The study objectives were to evaluate the efficacy, safety, satisfaction, treatment adherence, and system retention obtained with rapid initiation of bictegravir/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide (BIC/FTC/TAF) in naïve patients. METHODS: This phase IV, multicenter, open-label, single-arm, 48-week clinical trial enrolled patients between January 2020 and June 2022. Adherence to treatment was evaluated with the SMAQ questionnaire and patient satisfaction with the EQ-5D. RESULTS: Two hundred eight participants were enrolled with mean age of 35.6 years; 87.6% were males; mean CD4 count was 393.5 cells/uL (<200 cells/uL in 22.1%); viral load log was 5.6 (VL>100 000 cop/mL in 43.3%); 22.6% had AIDS, and 4.3% were coinfected with HBV. BIC/FTC/TAF was initiated on the day of their first visit to the HIV specialist in 98.6% of participants, and 9.6% were lost to follow-up. The efficacy at week 48 was 84.1 % by intention-to- treat (ITT), 94.6% by modified ITT, and 98.3% by per protocol analysis. The regimen was discontinued in two subjects (0.9%) during week 1 for grade 3 adverse events. Treatment adherence (weeks 4 [90%, IQR: 80-99%] vs. 48 [90%, IQR: 80-95%; P = 0.49]) and patient satisfaction (weeks 4 [90%, IQR: 80-99%] vs. 48 [90%, IQR: 80-95 P = 0.49]) rates were very high over the 48- week study period. CONCLUSIONS: BIC/FTC/TAF is an appropriate option for rapid ART initiation in naïve HIV patients, offering high efficacy, safety, durability, treatment adherence, retention in the healthcare system, and patient satisfaction. ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES: To reduce health inequities, it is important to identify intersections in characteristics of individuals subject to privilege or disadvantage. Different proposals for that have recently been published. One approach (1) considers models specified with first- and all second-order effects and another (2) the stratification based on multiple covariates; both categorize continuous covariates. A simulation study was conducted in order to review both methods with regard to identification of intersections showing true differences, rate of false-positive results, and generalizability to independent data compared to an established approach (3) of backward variable elimination according to Bayesian information criterion (BE-BIC) combined with splines. STUDY DESIGN AND SETTING: R software has been used to simulate the covariates age, sex, body mass index, education, and diabetes to examine their association with a continuous frailty score for osteoporosis using multiple linear regression. In setting 1, none of the covariates was associated with the frailty score, that is, only noise is present in the data. In setting 2, the covariates age, sex, and their interaction were associated with the frailty score, such that only females above 55 years formed an intersection associated with an increased frailty score. All approaches were compared under varying sample sizes (N = 200-3000) and signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs, 0.5-4) in 1000 replications. For model evaluation, bootstrap resampling was used. The models were fitted in internal learning data and then used to predict outcomes in the internal validation data. The mean squared error (MSE) was used for comparison and the frequency of false-positive findings calculated. RESULTS: In setting 1, approaches 1 and 2 generated spurious effects in more than 90% of simulations across all sample sizes. In a smaller sample size, approach 3 (BE-BIC) selected 36.5% of the correct model, in larger sample size in 89.8% and always had a lower number of spurious effects. MSE in independent data was generally higher for approaches 1 and 2 when compared to 3. In setting 2, approach 1 selected most frequently the correct interaction but frequently showed spurious effects (>75%). Across all sample sizes and SNR, approach 3 generated least often spurious results and had lowest MSE in independent data. CONCLUSION: Categorization of continuous covariates is detrimental to studies on intersectionality. Due to high and unrestricted model complexity, such approaches are prone to spurious effects and often lack interpretability. Approach 3 (BE-BIC) is considerably more robust against spurious findings, showed better generalizability to independent data, and can be used with most statistical software. For intersectionality research, we consider it most important to describe relevant differences between intersections and to avoid nonreproducible and spurious findings.

ABSTRACT

As a candidate anode material for Li-ion batteries, Bi-based materials have attracted extensive attention from researchers due to their high specific capacity, environmental friendliness, and simple synthesis methods. However, Bi-based anode materials are prone to causing large volume changes during charging and discharging processes, and the effect of these changes on lithium storage performance is still unclear. This work introduces that Bi/C nanocomposites are prepared by the Bi-based MOF precursor calcination method, and that the Bi/C nanocomposite maintains a high specific capacity (931.6 mAh g-1) with good multiplicative performance after 100 cycles at a current density of 100 mA g-1. The structural evolution of Bi/C anode material during the first cycle of charging and discharging is investigated using in situ synchrotron radiation SAXS. The SAXS results indicate that the multistage scatterers of Bi/C composite, used as an anode material during the first lithiation, can be classified into mesopores, interspaces, and Bi nanoparticles. The different nanostructure evolutions of three types of Bi nanoparticles were observed. It is believed that this result will help to further understand the complex reaction mechanism of Bi-based anode materials in Li-ion batteries.

ABSTRACT

We propose a new simultaneous variable selection and estimation procedure with the Gaussian seamless- L 0 $$ {L}_0 $$ (GSELO) penalty for Cox proportional hazard model and additive hazards model. The GSELO procedure shows good potential to improve the existing variable selection methods by taking strength from both best subset selection (BSS) and regularization. In addition, we develop an iterative algorithm to implement the proposed procedure in a computationally efficient way. Theoretically, we establish the convergence properties of the algorithm and asymptotic theoretical properties of the proposed procedure. Since parameter tuning is crucial to the performance of the GSELO procedure, we also propose an extended Bayesian information criteria (EBIC) parameter selector for the GSELO procedure. Simulated and real data studies have demonstrated the prediction performance and effectiveness of the proposed method over several state-of-the-art methods.

ABSTRACT

Fitting penalized models for the purpose of merging the estimation and model selection problem has become commonplace in statistical practice. Of the various regularization strategies that can be leveraged to this end, the use of the l0 norm to penalize parameter estimation poses the most daunting model fitting task. In fact, this particular strategy requires an end user to solve a non-convex NP-hard optimization problem irregardless of the underlying data model. For this reason, the use of the l0 norm as a regularization strategy has been woefully under utilized. To obviate this difficulty, a strategy to solve such problems that is generally accessible by the statistical community is developed. The approach can be adopted to solve l0 norm penalized problems across a very broad class of models, can be implemented using existing software, and is computationally efficient. The performance of the method is demonstrated through in-depth numerical experiments and through using it to analyze several prototypical data sets.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES: The efficacy of BIC/FTC/TAF in HIV late presenters initiating antiretroviral therapy (ART) has not been sufficiently evaluated. METHODS: The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness and tolerability of BIC/FTC/TAF compared to other first-line antiretroviral regimens in treatment-naïve adult individuals from the CoRIS Cohort starting ART with CD4 counts <200 cells/mm3 and/or AIDS-defining conditions between January 1st 2019 and November 30th 2020. Logistic regression models were used to estimate odds ratios (ORs) of association between initial regimen and achievement of viral suppression (VS) (primary objective), defined as HIV RNA <50 cop/mL, and immunological recovery (IR) (secondary objective), defined as CD4 count >200 cells/mm3, at weeks 24 and 48 after initiation of ART. RESULTS: We evaluated 314 individuals (84.7% men, median age 40 years). Of them, 158 initiated with BIC/FTC/TAF. At inclusion, 117 had an AIDS-defining condition. In multivariable analyses, individuals with AIDS-defining conditions initiating ART with BIC/FTC/TAF achieved higher rates of VS at 24 weeks than other regimens (aOR: 0.2; 95% CI: 0.06-0.64) and, at 48 weeks, than DTG/ABC/3TC (aOR: 0.06; 95% CI: 0.01-0.76) and DTG + TDF/3TC (aOR: 0.2; 95% CI: 0.47-0.9). No other differences in VS or IR were observed. At 24 and 48 weeks after ART initiation, treatment discontinuations were lower with BIC/FTC/TAF than with other regimens (3.2% and 7.6% vs. 24.4% and 37.8%, respectively; P < 0.005). CONCLUSION: Our results suggest that BIC/FTC/TAF could be a preferred regimen as initial therapy in HIV late presenters because of its high effectiveness and good tolerability.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: A rapid ART initiation approach can be beneficial in people with advanced HIV disease, in consideration of their high morbidity and mortality. The aim of our study was to evaluate the feasibility, efficacy and safety of rapid ART start with BIC/FTC/TAF in this setting. METHODS: Pilot, single-centre, single-arm, prospective, phase IV clinical trial conducted in a tertiary Italian hospital. Thirty ART-naïve people presenting with advanced HIV-1 diagnosis (defined as the presence of an AIDS-defining event and/or CD4 cell count <200 µL), were enrolled. Main exclusion criteria were active tuberculosis, cryptococcosis and pregnant/breastfeeding women. BIC/FTC/TAF was started within 7 days from HIV diagnosis. The primary endpoint was clinical or virologic failure (VF). Immunological parameters, safety, feasibility, neurocognitive performances and patient-reported outcomes were assessed as well. RESULTS: Over the study period, 40 (34%) of 116 patients diagnosed with HIV infection at INMI Spallanzani had advanced disease, of whom 30 (26%) were enrolled. The proportion of participants with HIV-RNA <50 cp/mL was 9/30 (30%) at week (w) 4, 19/30 (63%) at w12, 24/30 (80%) at w24, 23/30 (77%) at w36 and 27/30 (90%) at w48. Two unconfirmed VF occurred. No ART discontinuation due to toxicity or VF was observed. No ART modification was performed based on the review of genotype and no mutations for the study drugs were detected. Mean CD4 cells count changed by 133 cells/µL at BL to 309 cells/µL at w 48 and 83% of participants had a CD4 > 200 cells/µL at w 48. Two participants developed IRIS and one was diagnosed with disseminated TB and needed an ART switch. INTERPRETATIONS: Our results support the feasibility, efficacy and safety of BIC/FTC/TAF as a rapid ART strategy in patients with advanced HIV disease.

BACKGROUND: The evaluation of bictegravir, emtricitabine, and tenofovir alafenamide (BIC/FTC/TAF) in clinical trials has shown high rates of virological suppression but information about its use in real-life settings is scarce. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effectiveness, safety, durability, and predictive variables of therapeutic failure of BIC/FTC/TAF in a real-life cohort. METHODS: This observational, retrospective, multicentered cohort study included treatment-naive (TN) and treatment-experienced (TE) adult patients living with HIV (PLWH) who started treatment with BIC/FTC/TAF from January 1, 2019, to January 31, 2022. Treatment effectiveness (based on intention-to-treat [ITT], modified ITT [mITT], and on-treatment [OT]), tolerability, and safety were evaluated in all patients who started BIC/FTC/TAF antiretroviral therapy. RESULTS: We included a total of 505 PLWH of whom 79 (16.6%) were TN and 426 (83.4%) were TE. Patients were followed up for a median (interquartile range [IQR]) of 19.6 (9.6-27.3) months, and 76% and 56% of PLWH reached month 6 and month 12 of treatment, respectively. Rates of TN PLWH with HIV-RNA <50 copies/mL in the OT, mITT, and ITT groups were 94%, 80%, and 62%, respectively, after 12 months of BIC/FTC/TAF treatment. Rates of TE PLWH with HIV-RNA <50 copies/mL were 91%, 88%, and 75% at month 12. The multivariate analysis revealed that neither age, sex, CD4 cell count <200 cells/µL, or viral load >100 000 copies/mL were associated with therapeutic failure. CONCLUSION AND RELEVANCE: Our real-life data showed that BIC/FTC/TAF is effective and safe for use in the treatment of both TN and TE patients in clinical practice.

ABSTRACT

Metasurfaces are a class of two-dimensional artificial resonators, creating new opportunities for strong light-matter interactions. One type of nonradiative optical metasurface that enables substantial light concentration is based on quasi-Bound States in the Continuum (quasi-BIC). Here we report the design and fabrication of a quasi-BIC dielectric metasurface that serves as an optical frequency antenna for photocatalysis. By depositing Ni nanoparticle reactors onto the metasurface, we create an antenna-reactor photocatalyst, where the virtually lossless metasurface funnels light to drive a chemical reaction. This quasi-BIC-Ni antenna-reactor drives H2 dissociation under resonant illumination, showing strong polarization, wavelength, and optical power dependencies. Both E-field-induced electronic and photothermal heating effects drive the reaction, supported by load-dependent reactivity studies and our theoretical model. This study unlocks new opportunities for photocatalysis that employ dielectric metasurfaces for light harvesting in an antenna-reactor format.

ABSTRACT

Significant progress has been made in the advancement of perovskite solar cells, but their commercialization remains hindered by their lead-based toxicity. Many non-toxic perovskite-based solar cells have demonstrated potential, such as Cs2AgBi0.75Sb0.25Br6, but their power conversion efficiency is inadequate. To address this issue, some researchers are focusing on emerging acceptor-donor-acceptor'-donor-acceptor (A-DA'D-A)-type non-fullerene acceptors (NFAs) for Cs2AgBi0.75Sb0.25Br6 to find effective electron transport layers for high-performance photovoltaic responses with low voltage drops. In this comparative study, four novel A-DA'D-A-type NFAs, BT-LIC, BT-BIC, BT-L4F, and BT-BO-L4F, were used as electron transport layers (ETLs) for the proposed devices, FTO/PEDOT:PSS/Cs2AgBi0.75Sb0.25Br6/ETL/Au. Comprehensive simulations were conducted to optimize the devices. The simulations showed that all optimized devices exhibit photovoltaic responses, with the BT-BIC device having the highest power conversion efficiency (13.2%) and the BT-LIC device having the lowest (6.8%). The BT-BIC as an ETL provides fewer interfacial traps and better band alignment, enabling greater open-circuit voltage for efficient photovoltaic responses.
