ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To determine the histopathological findings in patients with HBeAg-positive chronic HBV infection (immunotolerant phase in old terminology) and HBeAg-negative chronic HBV infection (inactive carrier phase in old terminology). STUDY DESIGN: Observational study. Place and Duration of the Study: Department of Gastroenterology, University of Health Sciences, Diyarbakir Gazi Yasargil Education and Research Hospital, Diyarbakir, Turkiye and Diyarbakir and Mersin University School of Medicine, Diyarbakir, Turkiye, from May 2014 to August 2022. METHODOLOGY: The difference between fibrosis and histological activity indices of 289 patients in the immunotolerant and inactive carrier phase who had liver biopsy was examined statistically. Additionally, the relationship of these data with age and gender was investigated. RESULTS: While 236 (81.7%) of the patients were in the inactive carrier phase, 53 (18.3%) patients were in the immunotolerant phase. The mean fibrosis score of patients in the immunotolerant stage was 2.0 ± 1.2, while it was 2.0 ± 1.0 in inactive carriers (p = 0.753). The number of patients with a fibrosis score of two and above was 21 (39.6%) in immunotolerant patients and 52 (22.0%) in inactive carrier patients (p = 0.004). In patients under 30 years of age, the mean fibrosis score was 1.7 ± 1.0. It was 2.0 ± 1.1 in those over 30 years of age (p = 0.016). CONCLUSION: Biochemical parameters or viral load cannot clearly reflect cellular damage in the liver. In the future, HBV DNA positivity alone may be the only criterion for the treatment. ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to determine the prevalence and factors associated with susceptibility to hepatitis B virus (HBV) among cisgender men who have sex with men (MSM) on HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in Northeastern Brazil. METHODS: This was a cross-sectional, analytical study conducted between September 2021 and June 2023. Participants underwent structured interviews to collect sociodemographic and clinical information, including hepatitis B vaccination history, HIV PrEP use and sexual health history. Blood samples were collected for hepatitis B serologic testing: HBV surface antigen (HBsAg), HBV surface antibody (anti-HBs), total and IgM HBV core antibody (anti-HBc). HBV susceptibility was defined as nonreactive results for all these serological markers. RESULTS: A total of 287 participants were enrolled into the study. The median age of the individuals was 31 years (interquartile range: 27; 36). HBV susceptibility was found in 58 out 286 individuals (20.3%; 95% CI: 15.9-25.2). Seventy-six percent of the participants reported completing the three-dose hepatitis B vaccine schedule. Susceptibility was significantly associated with a monthly income ≤ 5 minimum wages (PR: 2.02; 95% CI: 1.01-4.05), lack of complete hepatitis B vaccination schedule (PR: 4.52; 95% CI: 2.89-7.06), initiation of HIV PrEP (PR: 2.18; 95% CI: 1.21-3.94), duration of six months of HIV PrEP (PR: 2.16; 95% CI: 1.19-3.91), absence of tattoos (PR: 1.55; 95% CI: 1.00-2.40) and no history of sexually transmitted infections (PR: 1.65; 95% CI: 1.07-2.54). CONCLUSION: Our findings highlight the significant burden of HBV susceptibility among MSM on HIV PrEP in Northeastern Brazil. Socioeconomic factors, vaccination status, PrEP use and sexual health behaviors play critical roles in determining susceptibility to HBV. Integrating hepatitis B screening and vaccination into PrEP services is critical for identifying and addressing HBV susceptibility among MSM. Interventions aimed at increasing vaccination coverage and promoting safer sexual practices are essential for mitigating the burden of HBV infection in this population.

ABSTRACT

In this editorial we comment on the article published in the recent issue of the World Journal of Gastroenterology. We focus specifically on the problem of occult hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, that is a result of previous hepatitis B (PHB) and a source for reactivation of HBV. The prevalence of PHB is underestimated due to the lack of population testing programs. However, this condition not only complicate anticancer treatment, but may be responsible for the development of other diseases, like cancer or autoimmune disorders. Here we unveil possible mechanisms responsible for realization of these processes and suggest practical approaches for diagnosis and treatment.

ABSTRACT

Therapeutics for eradicating hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection are still limited and current nucleos(t)ide analogs (NAs) and interferon are effective in controlling viral replication and improving liver health, but they cannot completely eradicate the hepatitis B virus and only a very small number of patients are cured of it. The TCR-like antibodies recognizing viral peptides presented on human leukocyte antigens (HLA) provide possible tools for targeting and eliminating HBV-infected hepatocytes. Here, we generated three TCR-like antibodies targeting three different HLA-A2.1-presented peptides derived from HBV core and surface proteins. Bispecific antibodies (BsAbs) were developed by fuzing variable fragments of these TCR-like mAbs with an anti-CD3ϵ antibody. Our data demonstrate that the BsAbs could act as T cell engagers, effectively redirecting and activating T cells to target HBV-infected hepatocytes in vitro and in vivo. In HBV-persistent mice expressing human HLA-A2.1, two infusions of BsAbs induced marked and sustained suppression in serum HBsAg levels and also reduced the numbers of HBV-positive hepatocytes. These findings highlighted the therapeutic potential of TCR-like BsAbs as a new strategy to cure hepatitis B.

ABSTRACT

Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) is a stealthy and insidious pathogen capable of inducing chronic necro-inflammatory liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), resulting in over one million deaths worldwide per year. The traditional understanding of Chronic Hepatitis B (CHB) progression has focused on the complex interplay among ongoing virus replication, aberrant immune responses, and liver pathogenesis. However, the dynamic progression and crucial factors involved in the transition from HBV infection to immune activation and intrahepatic inflammation remain elusive. Recent insights have illuminated HBV's exploitation of the sodium taurocholate co-transporting polypeptide (NTCP) and manipulation of the cholesterol transport system shared between macrophages and hepatocytes for viral entry. These discoveries deepen our understanding of HBV as a virus that hijacks hepatocyte metabolism. Moreover, hepatic niche macrophages exhibit significant phenotypic and functional diversity, zonal characteristics, and play essential roles, either in maintaining liver homeostasis or contributing to the pathogenesis of chronic liver diseases. Therefore, we underscore recent revelations concerning the importance of hepatic niche macrophages in the context of viral hepatitis. This review particularly emphasizes the significant role of HBV-induced metabolic changes in hepatic macrophages as a key factor in the transition from viral infection to immune activation, ultimately culminating in liver inflammation. These metabolic alterations in hepatic macrophages offer promising targets for therapeutic interventions and serve as valuable early warning indicators, shedding light on the disease progression.

BACKGROUND: Cancer patients are prone to infections such as hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV), which pose a major public health challenge, especially in developing countries. However, little is known about the magnitude of these infections among cancer patients in Ethiopia. Thus, this study determined the prevalence of HBV and HCV in cancer patients at the Oncology Treatment Center, Gondar, Northwest Ethiopia. MATERIALS AND METHODS: An institutional-based cross-sectional study was conducted on 115 cancer patients from 15 April to 22 July 2023 at the Oncology Treatment Center, Gondar, Northwest Ethiopia. Sociodemographic, clinical, and other relevant data were collected using a pretested structured questionnaire. Five milliliters of venous blood were collected using a vacutainer tube, serum was harvested and tested for HBV and HCV using a one-step HBsAg and anti-HCV test strip with further confirmation through an ELISA test kit. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 20 and Fisher exact test was used to determine the association between HBV/HCV infection and associated factors. RESULTS: Out of 115 cancer patients, the majority (62.6%) were females. The median age was 50 (IQR; 40-56) years. The overall prevalence of HBV and HCV infections was 4.3% (95% CI; 0.6-8%) and 6.1% (95% CI; 1.7-10.5%), respectively. Sex was significantly associated with the prevalence of HCV (p = 0.011) with higher anti-HCV positivity in males (14%) than in females (1.4%). CONCLUSIONS: In this study, the prevalence of HCV was higher and the HBV prevalence was intermediate in cancer patients. To reduce the burden of HBV and HCV infections, it is crucial to provide access to HBV and HCV screening services, strengthen vaccination, and improve prompt treatment in cancer patients.

The question of whether patients in the immune-tolerant (IT) phase of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection should undergo antiviral therapy and determine the optimal regimen remains unclear. A comprehensive search of PubMed, Embase, MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, and Wanfang Data from inception to 5 December 2023, was conducted. Studies reporting on key outcomes such as HBV DNA undetectability, HBeAg loss or seroconversion, HBsAg loss or seroconversion, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) incidence in patients in the IT phase of chronic HBV infection were included. In total, 23 studies were incorporated. Approximately 4% of patients in the IT phase achieved spontaneous HBeAg loss over 48 weeks of follow-up. Antiviral therapy demonstrated a favourable impact on HBV DNA negative conversion (Children: risk ratios [RR] = 6.83, 95% CI: 2.90-16.05; Adults: RR = 25.84, 95% CI: 6.47-103.31) and HBsAg loss rates (Children: RR = 9.49, 95% CI: 1.74-51.76; Adults: RR = 7.35, 95% CI: 1.41-38.27) for patients in the IT phase. Subgroup analysis revealed that in adult patients in the IT phase, interferon plus nucleos(t)ide analogues (NA)-treated patients exhibited a higher pooled rate of HBsAg loss or seroconversion than those treated with NA monotherapy (9% vs. 0%). Additionally, the pooled annual HCC incidence for patients in the IT phase was 3.03 cases per 1000 person-years (95% CI: 0.99-5.88). Adult patients in the IT phase had a significantly lower HCC incidence risk than HBeAg-positive indeterminate phase patients (RR = 0.46, 95% CI: 0.32-0.66), with no significant differences observed between IT and immune-active phases. Presently, there is insufficient evidence solely based on reducing the risk of HCC incidence, to recommend treating patients in the IT phase of chronic HBV infection. However, both adult and paediatric patients in the IT phase responded well to antiviral therapy, showing favourable rates of HBsAg loss or seroconversion.

BACKGROUND: Since Imbach [1] first reported the use of high-dose intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) in the treatment of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) in children, indications for IVIg therapy have been increaseing. At present, IVIg infusion has become an important means of clinical treatment. The phenomenon of anti-HBs and anti-HBc elevation caused by IVIg infusion in patients has been reported in journals, but similar reports in journals related to laboratory diagnosis are rare. METHODS: We reported a case of a patient with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) which interfered with hepatitis B virus (HBV) serological detection after receiving intravenous IVIg. We used chemiluminescence immunoassay to detect serological markers of HBV. IU/mL was used to represent the detection data of HBsAg and HBsAb and cutoff value was used to represent the detection HBeAg, HBeAb, and HbcAb. RESULTS: The serological markers of HBV were all negative before IVIg infusion. One week after IVIG infusion, the item was tested again, and the results of HBsAb, HBeAb, and HBcAb were positive. As the time increased after infusion, HBsAb, HBeAb, and HBcAb in the patient gradually decreased. CONCLUSIONS: After IVIg infusion, the sudden positive change of HBsAb, HBeAb, and HbcAb in the patient's body was not caused by HBV infection, but caused by the infusion of foreign antibody. This case study shows that physicians should be particularly careful when interpreting results in patients treated with intravenous IVIg involving viral hepatitis B.

ABSTRACT

This editorial commented on an article in the World Journal of Gastroenterology titled "Risks of Reactivation of Hepatitis B Virus in Oncological Patients Using Tyrosine Kinase-Inhibitors: Case Report and Literature Analysis" by Colapietro et al. In this editorial, we focused on providing a more comprehensive exploration of hepatitis B virus reactivation (HBVr) associated with the usage of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). It includes insights into the mechanisms underlying HBV reactivation, the temporal relationship between TKIs and HBV reactivation, and preventive measures. The aim is to understand the need for nucleos(t)ide analogs (NAT) and serial blood tests for early recognition of reactivation and acute liver injury, along with management strategies. TKIs are considered to be an intermediate (1%-10%) of HBVr. Current guidelines stipulate that patients receiving therapy with high or moderate risks of reactivation or recent cancer diagnosis must have at least tested hepatitis B surface antigen, anti-hepatitis B core antigen (HBc), and anti-hepatitis B surface antibody. Anti-HBc screening in highly endemic areas means people with negative tests should be vaccinated against HBV. Nucleoside or nucleotide analogs (NAs) like entecavir (ETV), tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF), and tenofovir alafenamide (TAF) form the basis of HBV reactivation prophylaxis and treatment during immunosuppression. Conversely, lamivudine, telbivudine, and adefovir are generally discouraged due to their reduced antiviral efficacy and higher risk of fostering drug-resistant viral strains. However, these less effective NAs may still be utilized in cases where ETV, TDF, and TAF are not feasible treatment options.

BACKGROUND: Podocytes, as intrinsic renal cells, can also express MHC-II and costimulatory molecules under inflammatory conditions, suggesting that they may act as antigen-presenting cells (APCs) to activate immune cell responses and then lead to immune-mediated renal injury. They are already recognized as main targets in the pathogenic mechanism of hepatitis B virus (HBV)-associated glomerulonephritis (HBV-GN). Previous studies also have indicated that inflammatory cells infiltration and immune-mediated tissue injury are evident in the kidney samples of patients with HBV-GN. However, the role of podocytes immune disorder in the pathogenic mechanism of HBV-GN remains unclear. METHODS: Renal function and inflammatory cells infiltration were measured in HBV transgenic (HBV-Tg) mice. In vitro, podocytes/CD4+ T cells or macrophages co-culture system was established. Then, the expression of HBx, CD4, and CD68 was determined by immunohistochemistry, while the expression of MHC-II, CD40, and CD40L was determined by immunofluorescence. Co-stimulatory molecules expression was examined by flow cytometry. The levels of inflammatory factors were detected by ELISA. RESULTS: In vivo, renal function was obviously impaired in HBV-Tg mice. HBx was significantly upregulated and immune cells infiltrated in the glomerulus of HBV-Tg mice. Expression of MHC-II and costimulatory molecule CD40 increased in the podocytes of HBV-Tg mice; CD4+ T cells exhibited increased CD40L expression in glomerulus. In vitro, CD40 expression was markedly elevated in HBx-podocytes. In co-culture systems, HBx-podocytes stimulated CD4+ T cells activation and caused the imbalance between IFN-γ and IL-4. HBx-podocytes also enhanced the adhesion ability of macrophages and induced the release of proinflammatory mediators. CONCLUSION: Taken together, these podocyte-related immune disorder may be involved in the pathogenic mechanism of HBV-GN.

A highly sensitive and reliable Hepatitis B virus surface antigen (HBsAg) measurement is essential to universal screening, timely diagnosis, and management of Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of MAGLUMI HBsAg chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA). MAGLUMI HBsAg (CLIA) was compared against ARCHITECT HBsAg. 411 HBsAg positive samples, including different stages of infection, genotypes, subtypes, mutants, and 30 seroconversion panels were tested to evaluate diagnostic sensitivity. Diagnostic specificity was evaluated by testing 205 hospitalized samples and 5101 blood donor samples. Precision, limit of blank (LoB), limit of detection (LoD), and linearity were also verified. The diagnostic sensitivity of the MAGLUMI HBsAg (CLIA) was 100% with better seroconversion sensitivity than ARCHITECT HBsAg. The MAGLUMI HBsAg (CLIA) has optimal detection efficacy for HBV subgenotypes samples. The analytical sensitivity is 0.039 IU/mL. The initial diagnostic specificity is 99.63% on blood donors and 96.59% on hospitalized samples. The verification data demonstrated high repeatability, a LoB of 0.02 IU/mL, LoD of 0.05 IU/mL and an excellent linearity of 0.050-250 IU/mL (R2 = 0.9946). The MAGLUMI HBsAg (CLIA) is proved a highly sensitive and reliable assay with optimal subgenotype detection efficacy.

ABSTRACT

During chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, the seroclearance of hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) is an important event and a significant surrogate endpoint of all current therapeutic strategies. The prediction of HBeAg seroclearance can help assess the benefits of therapy in patients during or before therapy initiation. The quantitation of HBV core antibodies (qAnti-HBc) is a new non-invasive biomarker for solving multiple diagnostic dilemmas. A systematic review and meta-analysis of studies that measured qAnti-HBc in patients who achieved HBeAg seroclearance were performed through PubMed, Web of Science (WoS) and SCOPUS electronic database searches. Nineteen articles were included in the systematic review, comprising 3434 chronically infected patients (1014 with and 2420 without HBeAg seroclearance). Sixteen publications with data regarding qAnti-HBc levels were included in the meta-analysis. The baseline level of qAnti-HBc antibodies was significantly higher in patients with than without HBeAg seroclearance (SMD = 0.88, 95%CI SMD = 0.56-1.2, p < 0.001). The same conclusion was reached for patients originating from Asia (SMD = 0.94, 95%CI SMD = 0.55-1.33) and for the qAnti-HBc antibodies among adult HBV patients with therapy-induced HBeAg seroclearance (SMD = 0.90, 95%CI SMD = 0.54-1.25, p < 0.001). The systematic review and meta-analysis provide evidence of the role of qAnti-HBc as a promising biomarker for predicting HBeAg seroclearance in chronically infected patients.

ABSTRACT

The hepatitis B vaccination-induced immune response has been demonstrated to be associated with a number of factors, including age, sex, BMI, and the presence of comorbidities. Additionally, modifiable determinants such as smoking have been identified as influencing the response to vaccination. However, despite the evidence that smokers are at an increased risk of not responding to vaccination, the long-term effects of smoking on antibody persistence remain poorly understood. This study aims to assess the impact of smoking habits on long-term immunity following the primary vaccination cycle. Participants were required to have received a standard three-dose vaccine schedule in childhood, without subsequent doses, and to be between 18 and 24 years of age. Data on age, sex, BMI, age of administration of the first vaccine dose, and time between doses were collected. An antibody concentration < 10 IU/L was considered as non-protective. A total of 2133 individuals were included, 14.2% of whom were smokers. The mean age was 20.28 ± 0.92 years. The probability of having a non-protective antibody concentration was significantly higher in smokers than in non-smokers (AOR: 1.287; 95% CI: 1.002-1.652). The detrimental effects of smoking extend beyond the immediate effects on the vaccine response, also impairing the long-term immune response in individuals who received vaccinations during childhood.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: We aimed to evaluate the risk of hepatitis B virus reactivation in rheumatic patients using anti-tumor necrosis factor-alpha drugs and the awareness of physicians about hepatitis B virus reactivation. METHODS: Demographic characteristics, pre- and post-treatment hepatitis markers, and laboratory parameters of patients receiving anti-tumor necrosis factor-alpha therapy in our rheumatology clinic were retrospectively examined. RESULTS: A total of 448 patients, 240 (53.6%) female and 208 (46.4%) male, were evaluated. Their mean age was 48.02±14.64 years. While HBsAg was examined in 443 (98.9%) patients before treatment, 7 (1.6%) patients were found to be HBsAg positive. While anti-HBc IgG was examined in 405 (90.4%) patients, it was positive in 69 (17%) patients. HBs Ag (total 446-99.6%) test was performed in three patients who were not tested for HBsAg before the treatment, and anti-HBc total (431-96.2% total) test was performed in 26 patients who were not tested for anti-HBc total. All HBsAg positive patients and 17 (24.6%) of those with previous hepatitis B received antiviral treatment. While the median follow-up period of the patients was 24 (6-60) months, no patient developed hepatitis B virus reactivation. CONCLUSION: The screening rates and awareness of physicians providing anti-tumor necrosis factor-alpha therapy for hepatitis B virus infection were found to be higher compared to similar studies. Hepatitis B virus reactivation did not develop in any patient. Since the risk of hepatitis B virus reactivation is low, especially in patients with previous hepatitis B, it would be more appropriate to follow up the patients without giving antiviral prophylaxis.

ABSTRACT

Mixed cryoglobulinemia vasculitis (MCV) is caused in ~90% of cases by chronic hepatitis C virus (HCVposMCV) and more rarely by hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, or apparently noninfectious. HCVposMCV develops in only ~5% of patients with chronic hepatitis C (CHC), but risk factors other than female gender have not been identified so far. We conducted a retrospective case control study investigating whether past active HBV infection, defined by hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) seroclearance and anti-core antibody (HBcAb) positivity, could be a risk factor for developing HCVposMCV. The prevalence of HBsAg seroclearance was 48% within 123 HCVposMCV patients and 29% within 257 CHC patients (p=0.0003). Multiple logistic regression including as variables gender, birth year, age at HBV testing, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma, confirmed an association of HBsAg seroclearance with HCVposMCV [adjusted odds ratio (OR) 2.82, 95% confidence interval (95% CI) 1.73-4.59, p<0.0001]. Stratification by gender, however, showed that HBsAg seroclearance was associated with HCVposMCV in male [OR 4.63, 95% CI 2.27-9.48, p<0.0001] and not in female patients [OR 1.85, 95% 95% CI 0.94-3.66, p=0.076]. HBsAg seroclearance, and more likely occult HBV infection, is an independent risk factor for HCVposMCV in male CHC patients.

ABSTRACT

Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection affects 300 million patients worldwide1,2, in whom virus-specific CD8 T cells by still ill-defined mechanisms lose their function and cannot eliminate HBV-infected hepatocytes3-7. Here we demonstrate that a liver immune rheostat renders virus-specific CD8 T cells refractory to activation and leads to their loss of effector functions. In preclinical models of persistent infection with hepatotropic viruses such as HBV, dysfunctional virus-specific CXCR6+ CD8 T cells accumulated in the liver and, as a characteristic hallmark, showed enhanced transcriptional activity of cAMP-responsive element modulator (CREM) distinct from T cell exhaustion. In patients with chronic hepatitis B, circulating and intrahepatic HBV-specific CXCR6+ CD8 T cells with enhanced CREM expression and transcriptional activity were detected at a frequency of 12-22% of HBV-specific CD8 T cells. Knocking out the inhibitory CREM/ICER isoform in T cells, however, failed to rescue T cell immunity. This indicates that CREM activity was a consequence, rather than the cause, of loss in T cell function, further supported by the observation of enhanced phosphorylation of protein kinase A (PKA) which is upstream of CREM. Indeed, we found that enhanced cAMP-PKA-signalling from increased T cell adenylyl cyclase activity augmented CREM activity and curbed T cell activation and effector function in persistent hepatic infection. Mechanistically, CD8 T cells recognizing their antigen on hepatocytes established close and extensive contact with liver sinusoidal endothelial cells, thereby enhancing adenylyl cyclase-cAMP-PKA signalling in T cells. In these hepatic CD8 T cells, which recognize their antigen on hepatocytes, phosphorylation of key signalling kinases of the T cell receptor signalling pathway was impaired, which rendered them refractory to activation. Thus, close contact with liver sinusoidal endothelial cells curbs the activation and effector function of HBV-specific CD8 T cells that target hepatocytes expressing viral antigens by means of the adenylyl cyclase-cAMP-PKA axis in an immune rheostat-like fashion.

ABSTRACT

Abstract: Surveillance case definitions are utilised to understand the epidemiology of communicable diseases and to inform public health actions. We report a case of hepatitis B infection that meets the case definition for newly acquired infection. However, further investigation revealed that this was most likely past resolved hepatitis B infection with subsequent reactivation secondary to immunosuppression, rather than a newly acquired infection. This case highlights the importance of thorough case and clinician interviews, in combination with detailed assessment of pathology results in collaboration with treating clinicians, to determine the most appropriate public health actions.

ABSTRACT

The detection of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) is critical in diagnosing hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. However, existing clinical detection technologies inevitably cause certain inaccuracies, leading to delayed or unwarranted treatment. Here, we introduce a label-free plasmonic biosensing method based on the thickness-sensitive plasmonic coupling, combined with supervised deep learning (DL) using neural networks. The strategy of utilizing neural networks to process output data can reduce the limit of detection (LOD) of the sensor and significantly improve the accuracy (from 93.1%-97.4% to 99%-99.6%). Compared with widely used emerging clinical technologies, our platform achieves accurate decisions with higher sensitivity in a short assay time (∼30 min). The integration of DL models considerably simplifies the readout procedure, resulting in a substantial decrease in processing time. Our findings offer a promising avenue for developing high-precision molecular detection tools for point-of-care (POC) applications.
