ABSTRACT

AIM: To analyze long-term outcomes of Graves' disease management. MATERIAL AND METHODS: There were 428 patients for the periods 2000-2004 and 2005-2010. Patients were called for examination and thyroid status control. 2 groups were compared: group 1 of 203 patients and group 2 of 225 patients. RESULTS: It was found that after subtotal resection by original technique (patent 1802309 of the Russian Federation, MPK 5 G01N1, 1/28) in group 1 euthyroid state was observed in more than half (59.4%) of patients, hypothyroidism - 30.3% and recurrence - in 10.3% 10 years postoperatively. At the same time most of patients of group 2 (71.6%) after predominant thyroidectomy had hypothyroidism, euthyroid state was only in 24%. Postoperative recurrent diffuse toxic goiter incidence was 4.7%. CONCLUSION: The dynamics of postoperative thyroid status depending on type of surgery and follow-up was presented.

ABSTRACT

The paper studies specific features of surface acoustic waves on piezoelectric substrates under infinite periodic grating arrays. The grating is made up of identical metallic electrodes of finite thickness and has one electrode per cell. It has been shown via the analysis of numerical algorithms and the coupling-of-modes equations that one of the fundamental frequencies of the standing wave under short-circuited grating necessarily coincides with one of the fundamental frequencies corresponding to the open-circuited grating if the substrate assumes particular orientations connected with its crystallographic symmetry. The existence of degeneracy does not depend on the material constants of the substrate and the electrode, the thickness of the electrode, and the specific electrode shape provided that the electrode is uniform along the wave normal and shaped symmetrically in the same direction. The proof applies both to ordinary and leaky surface waves.

ABSTRACT

The short day in the thawing of hardened winter wheat, yarovized to a different degree, increased its frost resistance in comparison with uninterrupted illumination. Interruption of darkness of the short-day cycle by red light reduced frost resistance, far-red light had the opposite effect, but to a different degree, on the length of yarovization. Maximal resistance developed toward the end of the yarovization period. There were observed changes connected with the stabilization of the photoacceptor of the phytochrome system in the process of yarovization. The phytochrome complex participated in regulation of the movement and utilization of metabolites. There was revealed the variety specificity of winter wheat in relation to the investigated characters.
