ABSTRACT

Biocompatibility is one of the main and very important properties for scaffolds. The aim of the present study was to investigate cells population dynamics in vivo in the process of original polycaprolactone-hydroxyapatite scaffold colonization, as well as tissue reactions to the implantation to assess the biocompatibility of the matrix. It has been found that tissue reactive changes in white rats subside completely up to the 21st day after subcutaneous polycaprolactone-hydroxyapatite scaffold implantation. Matrix was actively colonized by connective tissue cells in the period from the 7th to the 21st day of the experiment. However, intensive scaffold vascularization started from the 14th day after implantation. These findings suggest a high degree of the polycaprolactone-hydroxyapatite scaffold biocompatiblilitye.

ABSTRACT

The mathematical analysis of quantitative micromorphometric parameters of different human skin sites on section material has revealed a significant age-related thinning of the skin and its layers, decreased depth of the salivary and sweat glands position. It is proposed to use micrometric skin parameters for expert examination to define a biological age of the examinee.

ABSTRACT

The complex study of the influence of A. brasilense Sp 7 lectin with carbohydrate specificity to L-fucose and D-galactose on the dynamics of cell populations in different structural functional zones of the white mice mesentery, as well as on the capacity of immunocompetent cells of mesenterial lymph nodes for synthesizing cytokines (interleukin-1, interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor), was carried out. A single oral administration of bacterial lectin in a dose of 4.5 micrograms produced a pronounced immunostimulating effect.

ABSTRACT

Surgical material of thyroid with goitre from 79 females aged 25-55 years was investigated. Basing on histological, histochemical and histostereometric evidence as well as correlation analysis it was established that each morphological variant of the thyroid pathology has its own specific pattern of unbalance of the cellular and tissue components.

ABSTRACT

A total of 103 patients with exacerbation of chronic generalized periodontitis of moderate and high severity were treated using running alternating magnetic field generated by ATOS device and transcutaneous laser biostimulation of the blood. These treatment modalities accelerated preoperative treatment and allowed performing the operations on the periodontal tissues in the optimal status under conditions of improved defense forces of the organism.

ABSTRACT

The article analyses the 65 lethal cases by typhoid in the period 1980-1986 during an outbreak of infection among the servicemen of the 40-th Army. All the deceased had the age of 18-37, 79.8% of them were 18-20 years old. The most frequent complications were: myocarditis (84.6%), pneumonia (75.4%), hemorrhagic syndrome (50.8%), intestinal perforation (49.2%), intestinal ulcer hemorrhage (21.5%), pleuritis (20.0%), purulent complications (11.7%), endotoxic shock (12.3%). The structure of proximate causes of death was as following: perforative peritonitis (30.8%), pneumonia (20.0%), acute heart failure (13.8%), intestinal ulcer hemorrhage (12.3%), suprarenal hemorrhage (7.7%). The results obtained during this study prove the fact that this outbreak of epidemic infection had the features of classical typhoid.

ABSTRACT

Inflammatory, degenerative and neurocirculatory disturbances in the intestine of children suffering from colibacillosis was followed by pronounced immune reactions: the number of IgG-, IgM- and IgE-containing cells increased and that of IgA-containing cells decreased, the number of enteroendocrinocytes and labrocytes changed. Progressing disturbances of blood circulation enhanced trophic changes of the mucosa, resulting in various complications. The data obtained allowed us to distinguish the syndrome of capillary-trophic insufficiency in the patho- and morphogenesis of colibacillosis.
