ABSTRACT

The paper presents the results of computer simulation of the acoustic waves propagation in piezoelectric layered structures based on diamond substrate under the influence of various metal film deposition. It has been observed that the maximum phase velocity change Δv/v is achieved with an "Au/(001) AlN/Au/(100) diamond" PLS configuration. However, if the acoustic impedance of the metal layer is greater than the acoustic impedance of the substrate, an elastic wave reflection can be observed, reducing the Δv/v quantities. Obtained results may be useful in the development of resonant and sensor acousto-electronic devices based on the Rayleigh and Love waves.

ABSTRACT

First ultrahigh frequency (UHF) investigation of quality factor Q for the piezoelectric layered structure «Al/(001)AlN/Mo/(100) diamond¼ has been executed in a broad frequency band from 1 up to 20GHz. The record-breaking Q·f quality parameter up to 2.7·1014Hz has been obtained close to 20GHz. Frequency dependence of the form factor m correlated with quality factor has been analyzed by means of computer simulation, and non-monotonic frequency dependence can be explained by proper features of thin-film piezoelectric transducer (TFPT). Excluding the minimal Q magnitudes measured at the frequency points associated with minimal TFPT effectiveness, one can prove a rule of Qf∼f observed for diamond on the frequencies above 1GHz and defined by Landau-Rumer's acoustic attenuation mechanism. Synthetic IIa-type diamond single crystal as a substrate material for High-overtone Bulk Acoustic Resonator (HBAR) possesses some excellent acoustic properties in a wide microwave band and can be successfully applied for design of acoustoelectronic devices, especially the ones operating at a far UHF band.

ABSTRACT

The results of computer simulation taking into account the linear and nonlinear material constants have been presented. Study of the influence of external uniaxial mechanical stress on the dispersive characteristics of elastic waves in piezoelectric structures as "La3Ga5SiO14/fused silica" has been executed. The comparison of elastic wave velocity changes under the influence of an uniaxial stress while a full set of nonlinear material constants of crystalline layer+geometric nonlinearity, or only geometric nonlinearity of the layer induced by the static deformation of a substrate, has been fulfilled.

ABSTRACT

Theoretical and computer investigations of acoustic wave propagation in piezoelectric layered structures, subjected to the dc electric field influence have been fulfilled. Analysis of the dispersive parameters of elastic waves propagation in the BGO/fused silica and fused silica/LiNbO3 piezoelectric layered structures for a number of variants of dc electric field application has been executed. Transformation of bulk acoustic wave into SAW type mode under the dc electric field influence has been found. Possibility to control the permission or prohibition of the wave propagation by the dc electric field application and the appropriate choice of the layer and substrate materials has been discussed.

ABSTRACT

Paper is presented the results of computer simulation. Effect of the homogeneous dc electric field influence on the propagation of zero and first order Lamb and SH waves in piezoelectric langasite single crystal plates for a lot of cuts and directions have been calculated. Crystalline directions and cuts with maximal and minimal influence of dc electric field have indicated. Effect of hybridization of plate modes has been discussed.
