[MEDIOEVAL HOSPITALS IN VITERBO]. / L'OSPITALITÀ MEDIEVALE A VITERBO.

The article offerts a short introduction to the history of medieval hospitals in Viterbo, as descripted by the main 19th century historical local testimonies. Viterbo, as well known to the historians of Middle Age, has been an important town in medieval Italian history; its centrality in the religious way to Rome is well testified by the numerous hospitals and assistance building, some of which, along the main pilgrimage routes, still surviving and well preserved.

[Research study regarding the benefits of nursing care in the twilight syndrome]. / Studio di ricerca sui benefici dell'assistenza infermieristica nell'insorgenza della sindrome del tramonto.

The twilight syndrome manifests with the appearance of a severe confusional state which damages the patient's cognitive potential. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether nursing care focused on the patient's space-time orientation could reduce or even prevent the onset of this syndrome. The study comprised 48 patients, 17 in the action group and 31 in the control group. The results of the study showed that the nursing strategies implemented, aimed at maintaining the patient's cognitive, perceptive and orientation functions, not only slowed down the progression of the syndrome but also made early recognition possible.
