ABSTRACT

Metastatic growths on palatine tonsils are very scarce if compared with primordial tumors of this sitting. Report of a case, in a 56-year-old woman, who 6 months after being operated from a left nephrectomy for hypernephroma presented a metastasis of clair renal cells on the right tonsil. Given the peculiarity of such a case we look through the literature of tonsil metastases and discuss the differential diagnosis regarding these type of lesions, sometimes encountered in our daily practice.

ABSTRACT

Primitive involvement of the palatine tonsil with a nodular paragranuloma (nodular subtype of Hodgkin's malady with lymphocytic predominance) is rarely found, being larger in number the cases associated with simultaneous occurrence in other organs. In the paper the AA. report one of this instances sitting solitarily in the palatine amygdala (stadium IA). Furthermore a bibliographic review about Waldeyer's ring lymphoma and particularly on nodular Hodgkin's paragranuloma is displayed.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this report is to compare the use of tympanostomy tubes (in 190 ears) versus the realization of myringotomy without any posterior placement of tubes (in 19 ears) in the treatment of 108 children with secretory otitis media. Course, sequelae and complications were analyzed over a period of 2 to 9 years. Our results suggest that the use of tympanostomy tubes must follow some specific indications, since they are not free of complications and sequelae.
