ABSTRACT

The authors review current knowledge on pathogenesis of allergic rhinosinusitis and bronchial asthma and their relations, show the role of leukotriens in development of respiratory allergy, characterize antileukotrienic medicines. Eleven patients with allergic rhinosinusitis and bronchial asthma received monotherapy with zafirlucast (acolapt) which is a blocker of leukotrienic receptors. Eight patients benefited from the treatment. The positive effect consisted in improvement of nasal respiration, reduction of rhinorrhea, edema of nasal mucosa, size of polyps.

ABSTRACT

The paper presents the results of the investigation concerning time and space organization of brain cortex electric activity and peculiarities of autonomic regulation of cardiac functions in 19 healthy individuals, which had a pronounced intention to counteract of hypnotic influence. Taking into consideration the reactions to hypnosis, these individuals were divided into three groups: predisposed to hypnotic suggestion, sensitive (intermediate group) and resistant to hypnotic suggestion. In predisposed individuals there were more pronounced sympathetic influences on cardiac functions and less spectral power of all EEG rhythms, except beta 2-rhythm. In individuals resistant to hypnotic suggestion there was more pronounced alpha-rhythm in brain cortex, while sympathetic influences on the cardiac functions were not so pronounced. All individuals reacted to hypnotic suggestion by a decreasing of the representation of alpha-rhythm and by diminishing initial interhemispheric asymmetry. However, a share of beta-rhythm was increased in predisposed individuals and of theta-rhythm in resistant individuals. In posthypnotic state in resistant persons the correlations of initial EEG rhythms were completely recovered, while in the individuals from the other groups a recovery was observed only in separate EEG frequencies.

ABSTRACT

In the context of P. K. Anokhin's theory of functional systems, the corrective effects of various combinations of medical therapeutical resonance music (MTRM) and dynamic colour exposure were analyzed. As compared to rehabilitative music programmes, MRTM was shown to have a more pronounced relaxing effect as manifested both in the optimization of emotion and in the activity of autonomic regulation of cardiovascular functions. On combined MRTM and dynamic colour flow exposures, the relaxing effect is most marked. In the examinees, the personality and situation anxieties diminish, mood improves, cardiovascular parameters become normal, the rate of metabolic processes and muscular rigidity reduce, the spectral power of alpha-rhythm increases, these occurring predominantly in the anterior region of the brain. The findings suggest the high efficiency of the chosen way of normalizing the functional status of man.

ABSTRACT

The autonomic maintenance of the productive activity of workers of different skills was studied at the electron-optical assembly shop. The concept of systemic quantum behavior developed by K. V. Sudakov by which any behavior is regarded as a sequence of the discrete systemic units "quanta". It is suggested that the discretion of a working behavior reflects that of bioarrhythmic organization of physiological functions.

ABSTRACT

The effect of water vapour on sublimated films of guanine was studied by IR- and UV-spectroscopy. It manifests itself essentially in the high-frequency shift of non-plane deformation vibration bands of NH- and NH2-groups and the shift of some pi leads to pi-transitions to the long-wave region and others to the short-wave one. The spectral changes observed on damping are due to the catalyzed by water rapid transition of partially ordered aggregates of initial film into crystal anhydrous ones at room temperature.

ABSTRACT

A method of quartz resonator is proposed for accurate micro- and ultramicroquantitative analysis of water in various biological systems. Sensitivity of this method may be about 10(-9) g. Some advantages and specific applications of quartz resonator are shown by "weighing" water rigidly bound to homogenous dry films of cytosine at great changes of their mass. It is suggested to use the quartz resonator with a specific sorbent applied to it as an efficient detector of small quantities of gases and microadmixtures of solved substances.

ABSTRACT

Effect of water vapour on sublimated films of nucleic acid pyrimidine bases was studied by IR-spectroscopy and X-ray pattern. It is found that freshly deposited films of uracil present a layered amorphous phase, of isocytosine--an amorphous phase; of cytosine--a crystal one. It is shown that water plays the role of an effective catalyzer providing at room temperature rapid transition of isocytosin from amorphous phase, uracyl from the layered amorphous phase into a crystal one. Under the effect of water sorbed molecules of cytosine changes are observed in the IR-spectrum. The latter are most significant in the region of non-plane deformation variations of NH- and NH2-groups. A mechanism of water effect on structural transformations found by us and the growth of nitrous bases crystals is suggested.
