ABSTRACT

Typhoons are natural disasters characterized by their high frequency of occurrence and significant impact, often leading to secondary disasters. In this study, we propose a prediction model for the trend of typhoon disasters. Utilizing neural networks, we calculate the forgetting gate, update gate, and output gate to forecast typhoon intensity, position, and disaster trends. By employing the concept of big data, we collected typhoon data using Python technology and verified the model's performance. Overall, the model exhibited a good fit, particularly for strong tropical storms. However, improvements are needed to enhance the forecasting accuracy for tropical depressions, typhoons, and strong typhoons. The model demonstrated a small average error in predicting the latitude and longitude of the typhoon's center position, and the predicted path closely aligned with the actual trajectory.

ABSTRACT

The quality and safety of agricultural products are related to people's lives and health, economic development, and social stability, and have always been a hot issue of concern to the government and society. The rapid development of digital traceability technology in the digital environment has brought new opportunities for the supervision of agricultural product quality and safety, but the frequent occurrence of agricultural product safety incidents in recent years has exposed many problems such as the lack of governmental supervision, unstandardized production process of enterprises, and weak consumer awareness. To improve the cooperation efficiency of stakeholders and ensure the quality and safety of agricultural products, this paper proposes a dynamic model based on evolutionary game theory. The model incorporates the government, agricultural product producers, and farmers, and evaluates the stability and effectiveness of the system under different circumstances. The results of the study show that there are multiple evolutionary stabilization strategies in the tripartite evolutionary game model of agricultural product quality and safety supervision, and there are corresponding evolutionary stabilization conditions. There are several factors affecting the stability of the system, the most important of which are government regulation, severe penalties for agricultural product producers, and incentives. When these factors reach a certain threshold, the stakeholder cooperation mechanism can establish an evolutionarily stable strategy. This study contributes to the understanding of the operational mechanism of stakeholder cooperation in agricultural product quality and safety regulation in the digital environment and provides decision support and policy recommendations for stakeholders to promote the sustainable development and optimization of agricultural product quality and safety regulation.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To examine the effect of low-frequency acupoint electrical stimulation (LFES) on the surface electromyographic (sEMG) signals of the thumb-to-finger movement muscles in stroke patients, and to evaluate the clinical efficacy of LFES on hand function recovery after stroke. METHODS: Sixty patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly assigned to a LFES group or an electroacupuncture (EA) group, with 30 patients in each group. Both groups received conventional treatment, and the EA group was treated with acupoints from the book of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, while the LFES group was treated with acupoints from a previous study. The sEMG characteristic values (maximum value and RMS), Chinese Stroke Clinical Neurological Deficit Scale (CSS), Brunnstrom Motor Function Evaluation, Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS), Lindmark Hand Function Score and Lovett Muscle Strength Classification were measured before and after treatment. RESULTS: After treatment, both groups showed improvement in sEMG characteristic values, Brunnstrom motor function score, Lindmark hand function score, and Lovett muscle strength classification compared with before treatment, and the improvement in the LFES group was significantly better than that in the EA group (P < .05). The CSS score and MAS classification of both groups decreased compared with before treatment, and the decrease in the LFES group was significantly better than that in the EA group (P < .05). The total effective rate of the LFES group was 92.86%, and that of the EA group was 79.31%. The difference between the 2 groups was statistically significant (P < .05). CONCLUSION: Both LFES and EA were effective in restoring thumb-to-finger movement function after stroke, as evidenced by the increased maximum value and root mean square values of the first dorsal interosseous muscle and the extensor pollicis brevis muscle, the decreased CSS score, the increased Brunnstrom motor function score, the decreased MAS classification, the increased Lindmark hand function score, and the increased Lovett muscle strength classification. However, LFES showed more obvious improvement and better efficacy than EA, which is worthy of clinical promotion.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Biofilm formation on voice prostheses disrupts the function and limits the lifespan of voice prostheses. There is still no effective clinical strategy for inhibiting or removing these biofilms. Silver sulfadiazine (SSD), as an exogenous antibacterial agent, has been widely used in the prevention and treatment of infection, however, its effect on voice prosthesis biofilms is unknown. The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of SSD on the mature mixed bacterial biofilms present on voice prostheses. METHODS: Quantitative and qualitative methods, including the plate counting method, real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR, crystal violet staining, the 2,3-bis(2-methoxy-4-nitro-5-sulfophenyl)-2H-tetrazolium-5-carboxanilide) (XTT) reduction assay, scanning electron microscopy, and laser confocal microscopy, were used to determine the effect of SSD on the number of bacterial colonies, biofilm formation ability, metabolic activity, and ultrastructure of biofilms in a mature mixed bacterial (Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus faecalis and Candida albicans) voice prosthesis biofilm model. The results were verified in vitro on mature mixed bacterial voice prosthesis biofilms from patients, and the possible mechanism of action was explored. RESULTS: Silver sulfadiazine decreased the number of bacterial colonies on mature mixed bacterial voice prosthesis biofilm, significantly inhibited the biofilm formation ability and metabolic activity of mature voice prosthesis biofilms, inhibited the formation of the complex spatial structure of voice prosthesis biofilms, and inhibited the synthesis of polysaccharides and proteins in the biofilm extracellular matrix. The degree of inhibition and removal effect increased with SSD concentration. CONCLUSIONS: Silver sulfadiazine can effectively inhibit and remove mature mixed bacterial voice prosthesis biofilms and decrease biofilm formation ability and metabolic activity; SSD may exert these effects by inhibiting the synthesis of polysaccharides and proteins among the extracellular polymeric substances of voice prosthesis biofilms.

ABSTRACT

The quasi-solid electrolyte membranes (QSEs) are obtained by solidifying the precursor of unsaturated polyester and liquid electrolyte in a glass fiber. By modifying the ratio of tetraethylene glycol dimethyl ether, QSE with balanced ionic conductivity, flexibility, and electrochemical stability window is acquired, which is helpful for inhibiting the decomposition of electrolyte on the cathode surface. The QSE is beneficial to the interfacial reaction of Li+, electrons, and O2 in the quasi-solid lithium-oxygen battery (LOB), can reduce the crossover of oxygen to the anode, and extend the cycle life of LOBs to 317 cycles. Benefitting from the application of QSE, a more stable solid electrolyte interface layer can be constructed on the anode side, which can homogenize Li+ flux and facilitate uniform Li deposition. Lithium-oxygen pouch cell with in situ formed QSE2 works well when the cell is folded or a corner is cut off. Our results indicate that the QSE plays important roles in both the cathode and Li metal anode, which can be further improved with the in situ forming strategy.

ABSTRACT

With the increasing use of Li batteries for storage, their safety issues and energy densities are attracting considerable attention. The Li metal battery (LMB) with limited capacity in the Li metal anode is one of ideal high energy-density systems due to eliminating the use of traditional anode, elevating the energy density of battery and reducing production costs. However, the side reactions between the electrolyte and metallic Li and the irreversible loss of lithium resources caused by the generation of "dead Li" will directly lead to the loss of battery capacity during the cycling process. Therefore, the cycle life of the LMB with limited capacity in the Li metal anode faces significant challenges. Herein, a bi-functional manganese oxide (MnO)/polypropylene/Li1+xAlxTi2-x(PO4)3 (LATP) composite separator is designed to construct a stable three dimensional (3D) Li metal in the surface of Cu foil for LMB. The MnO can dissolve in electrolytes with low concentration, which can be reduced to produce Mn and Li2O, functioning as nucleating seeds to induce sheet-like Li deposition. The sustainably released MnO also involves in the formation of solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer, which can be repaired promptly once damaged by the volume expansion of Li. The LATP coating layer is in situ transferred onto the sheet-like Li, acting as an artificial SEI layer for further protection. The constructed 3D Li metal anode with limited capacity shows improved cycle stability in LiFePO4 cell, which shows a capacity retention of 94.5% after 150 cycles. Our strategy, constructing stable 3D Li metal anode with bi-functional composite separator, will bring a new inspiration for developing high energy density LMB.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Spiking neural networks (SNNs), inspired by biological neural networks, have received a surge of interest due to its temporal encoding. Biological neural networks are driven by multiple plasticities, including spike timing-dependent plasticity (STDP), structural plasticity, and homeostatic plasticity, making network connection patterns and weights to change continuously during the lifecycle. However, it is unclear how these plasticities interact to shape neural networks and affect neural signal processing. Method: Here, we propose a reward-modulated self-organization recurrent network with structural plasticity (RSRN-SP) to investigate this issue. Specifically, RSRN-SP uses spikes to encode information, and incorporate multiple plasticities including reward-modulated spike timing-dependent plasticity (R-STDP), homeostatic plasticity, and structural plasticity. On the one hand, combined with homeostatic plasticity, R-STDP is presented to guide the updating of synaptic weights. On the other hand, structural plasticity is utilized to simulate the growth and pruning of synaptic connections. Results and discussion: Extensive experiments for sequential learning tasks are conducted to demonstrate the representational ability of the RSRN-SP, including counting task, motion prediction, and motion generation. Furthermore, the simulations also indicate that the characteristics arose from the RSRN-SP are consistent with biological observations.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: The network meta-analysis was used to evaluate the efficacy of acupuncture combined with other therapies in the treatment of post stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI). METHODS: The China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang DATA, Vip Chinese Periodic Service Platform, PUBMED, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and Embase were searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published before March 18, 2023. Two researchers independently reviewed articles and extracted data, and then qualified papers were included in the study. STATA 14.0 was used for network meta-analysis. RESULTS: A total of 29 articles including 2241 patients were included in this study. The treatment of the intervention group includes acupuncture combined with traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions (TCMP), acupuncture combined with hyperbaric oxygen (HBO), acupuncture combined with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), acupuncture combined with cognitive rehabilitation (CR), acupuncture combined with donepezil. The intervention of the control group includes acupuncture, HBO, rTMS, CR, TCMP, and donepezil. In terms of improving the score of Minimum Mental State Examination (MMSE), acupuncture combined with TCMP was most likely to be the best treatment (P < .05). In terms of improving the score of Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), acupuncture combined with TCMP was most likely to be the best treatment (P < .05). In terms of improving the total effective rate of clinical treatment, acupuncture combined with rTMS was most likely to be the best treatment (P < .05). CONCLUSION: Acupuncture combined with TCMP may be the best treatment method among all of the above treatments for PSCI.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Stroke's prevalence and morbidity are increasing (Guano, et al. Neuro 89:53-61, 2017), and limb motor dysfunction is left in most patients (Gittler, et al. JAMA 319:820-821, 2018). Particularly, the rehabilitation of upper limbs is more difficult and time-consuming (Borges, et al. The Cochrane database of systematic reviews 10:CD011887, 2018). METHODS: A double-blind randomized controlled trial (RCT) will be conducted to investigate whether a new functional electrical stimulation (FES) combined with acupoint therapy is more effective in the rehabilitation of upper limb motor dysfunction after stroke. Patients who meet the inclusion criteria will be randomly divided into two groups: programmed flexor-extensor alternating electrical acupoint stimulation group (PES group) and conventional flexor-extensor alternating electrical acupoint stimulation group (CES group), which will be treated for 3 weeks. The primary outcome measures are electroencephalogram (EEG) and surface electromyogram (sEMG). The secondary outcome variables include MBI (modified Barthel index), China Stroke Scale (CSS), FMA-U (Fugl-Meyer assessment upper limb), MMT (manual muscle testing), and Brunnstrom. DISCUSSION: The results of this study are expected to verify the efficacy of PES therapy in the rehabilitation of upper limb motor function after stroke. This may promote the widespread use of the therapy in hospitals, communities, and homes for early and continuous treatment. TRIAL REGISTRATION: ClinicalTrials.gov NCT05333497. ABSTRACT

This paper introduces professor SUN Shen-tian's clinical thoughts and his characteristics of acupuncture techniques for the treatment of depression based on "psychosomatic medicine". Professor SUN, the master of traditional Chinese medicine, believes that depression refers to comorbidity of "heart mind" and "body", resulting from the "body-mind" disharmony, specially dominated by the emotional disorder. This disease is located in the brain, with the injury of mind and closely related to the heart and liver dysfunction. In pathogenesis, the dysfunction of brain mind and the unhealthy conditions of body and mind are involved. The treatment should focus on "regulating the mind, improving the intelligence, co-modulating the abdominal and brain functions and treating the physical and mental disorders". Baihui (GV 20), Ningshen (Extra) and emotional area on the head are selected as the main points to benefit the intelligence and calming down the mind; the abdominal region 1 and region 8 of "Sun's abdominal acupuncture" are used as the main points of the abdomen to regulate the brain functions. The point prescription is modified according to the symptoms and etiologies. The repeated transcranial acupuncture stimulation and electroacupuncture at low frequency (2 Hz) are crucial to the therapeutic effect. Reliving anxious emotions is specially considered before acupuncture, and the mind is protected and deqi is consolidated during acupuncture.

Objective: With consumers' concerns about food safety and the environment growing, the interest in organic food has increased. However, due to the late start of the organic food market in China, the market size of the Chinese organic food industry is still relatively small. This study aims to examine whether organic food credence attributes have an impact on consumers' attitudes and willingness to pay a premium (WTPP), in order to provide valuable information to facilitate the development of the organic food market in China. Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted with 647 respondents in China. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was utilized to verify the model and test the relationships among the constructs. Results: SEM analyses showed that credence attributes stimulate consumers' attitudes and increase consumers' WTPP. Utilitarian attitudes and hedonistic attitudes play a partially mediating role in the relationship between credence attributes and WTPP. Uncertainty negatively moderates the role between utilitarian attitudes and WTPP, while it positively moderates the role between hedonistic attitudes and WTPP. Discussion: The findings reveal the motivations and barriers for Chinese consumers to purchase organic food at a premium, providing a theoretical basis for companies to gain a deeper understanding of consumer groups and develop organic food marketing strategies.

ABSTRACT

The 3C-like protease (3CLpro) is an essential enzyme for the replication of SARS-CoV-2 and other coronaviruses and thus is a target for coronavirus drug discovery. Nearly all inhibitors of coronavirus 3CLpro reported so far are covalent inhibitors. Here, we report the development of specific, noncovalent inhibitors of 3CLpro. The most potent one, WU-04, effectively blocks SARS-CoV-2 replications in human cells with EC50 values in the 10-nM range. WU-04 also inhibits the 3CLpro of SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV with high potency, indicating that it is a pan-inhibitor of coronavirus 3CLpro. WU-04 showed anti-SARS-CoV-2 activity similar to that of PF-07321332 (Nirmatrelvir) in K18-hACE2 mice when the same dose was administered orally. Thus, WU-04 is a promising drug candidate for coronavirus treatment.

Biofilm-coated microplastics are omnipresent in aquatic environments, carrying different organic matter (OM) that in turn influences the flocculation and settling of microplastic aggregates. In this study, the effects of chitosan, guar gum, humic acid, and xanthan gum on the flocculation of anthropogenic microplastics are examined under controlled shear through the mixing chamber experiments. The results show that all of the selected OMs have positive effects on biofilm culturing and thus enhance the growth of microplastic flocs, with more evident promoting effects for cationic and neutral OMs (i.e., chitosan and guar gum) than anionic OMs (i.e., humic acid and xanthan). No critical shear rate is observed in the size vs. shear relationship based on our measurements. In addition, the quadrature-based two-class population balance model is employed to track the development of bimodal floc size distributions (FSDs) composed of small and large microplastic flocs. The model predictions show reasonable agreement with the observed FSDs. The largest error of settling flux from the two-class model is 7.8% in contrast with the reference value measured by the camera-based FSDs with 30 bins. This study highlights the role of different OMs on microplastic flocculation and indicates that a two-class model may be sufficient to describe microplastic transport processes in estuaries.

ABSTRACT

Investigating the locomotion of aging C. elegans is an important way for understanding the basic mechanisms behind age-related changes in organisms. However, the locomotion of aging C. elegans is often quantified using insufficient physical variables, which makes it challenging to capture essential dynamics. To study changes in the locomotion pattern of aging C. elegans, we developed a novel data-driven model based on graph neural networks, in which the C. elegans body is modeled as a long chain with interactions within and between adjacent segments, and their interactions are described by high-dimensional variables. Using this model, we discovered that each segment of the C. elegans body generally tends to maintain its locomotion, i.e., tries to keep the bending angle unchanged, and expects to change the locomotion of the adjacent segments. The ability to maintain its locomotion strengthens with age. Besides, a subtle distinguish in the changes in the locomotion pattern of C. elegans at various aging stages were observed. Our model is anticipated to provide a data-driven method for quantifying the changes in the locomotion pattern of aging C. elegans and for mining the underlying causes of these changes.

ABSTRACT

The encouraging effects of HER2-ADC in patients with HER2-low expression cancers indicated the classical classifications based on positive and negative HER2 might no longer be suitable. However, the biology and prognosis of colorectal cancer patients with different HER2 expression status were still not clear. This is a multi-center retrospective study that included patients with histologically confirmed colorectal cancer and determined HER2 status who received radical surgical resection. HER2 immunohistochemistry (IHC) 1+ and IHC 2+ groups were combined and defined as a HER2-low group because of the concordance of clinicopathological characteristics. As compared with the HER2-high group, both the HER2-zero and the HER2-low group had less tumor with perineural invasion (14.3%, 13.1% vs. 31.6%, p = 0.001 and p < 0.001), less stage III disease (41.8%, 39.9% vs. 56.1%, p = 0.044 and p = 0.022), more RAS/BRAF mutation (52.1%, 49.9% vs. 19.5%, p < 0.001 and p < 0.001) and better disease-free survival (DFS) (3y-DFS rate of 78.7%, 82.4% vs. 59.3%, p < 0.001 and p < 0.001). Multivariate analysis and propensity score matching also revealed that HER2-high expression was an independent prognostic factor of DFS. In conclusion, our study revealed that HER2-low colorectal cancer tumors are close to HER2-zero tumors, but different from HER2-high tumors. The routine examination of HER2 IHC is needed in early-stage colorectal cancer.

Objective@#To explore the distribution characteristics of the influencing factors of injury among left behind primary school students, so as to provide a reference for identifying high risk injury groups and carrying out accurate injury intervention.@*Methods@#From August 2021 to July 2022, a questionnaire survey was conducted among 3 769 students from grades 4 to 6 from nine primary schools in three townships in Pingliang City by using the a random cluster sampling method. Multiple correspondence analysis was used to analyze the influencing factors of injury.@*Results@#The detection rate of injuries among non left behind pupils was 21.8%(573/2 631), whereas the detection rate of injuries among left behind pupils was 40.9%(466/1 138). In addition, a statistically significant difference was observed in the detection rate of injuries between left behind pupils and non left behind pupils ( χ 2=146.21, P <0.01). Among the injuries of left behind pupils, 263 had fall related injuries, accounting for the highest proportion ( 56.4 %). Whether it was an only child,and different grades, gender, personality, psychological status, monitoring type, and maternal education level were statistically significant ( χ 2=39.05, 96.69, 143.00, 155.80, 461.39, 285.35, 17.10, P <0.01). The multiple correspondence analysis category graph showed higher rates of fall injuries, blunt injuries and sharp injuries among boys, extroverted personality types, and left behind pupils whose grandparents were their legal guardians. Animal bites, burns and other injury types were higher among left behind pupils with an introverted personality, pupils in peer/other guardianship situations, and those with a sub mental health status. Unharmed left behind students mainly included those with intermediate personality and mental health characteristics.@*Conclusion@#The injury detection rate among left behind primary school students is high. Gender, personality type, guardianship type, and mental health status are closely related to injury. Extroverted boys under grandparents guardians are identified as high risk groups for injury prevention and control. Under the guidance of the precision prevention model, precision intervention strategies for all round high risk groups should be carried out in order to effectively reduce the occurrence of injuries among left behind pupils.

The size of the sample significantly impacts the accuracy of research outcomes. While preliminary results have been achieved in acupuncture imaging research, sample size estimation is often subjective and arbitrary, leading to insufficient reliability of study results. This article reviews the current application of sample size estimation in acupuncture imaging research, and provides recommendations to address existing issues. It is suggested that future researches should include the sample sizes that meet statistical power based on the characteristics of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) protocols, with group sizes of 12 and 20-30 cases having become the "minimum requirement" for confirmatory studies and a common choice. Additionally, the adoption of adaptive design approaches, which dynamically adjust sample sizes based on accumulated data, can be considered. Furthermore, efforts should be made to establish an open platform for sharing acupuncture imaging data to enhance data accessibility, and consequently, improve the quality and overall impact of acupuncture imaging research.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Cerebrovascular disease (CVD) poses a serious threat to human health and safety. Thus, developing a reasonable exercise program plays an important role in the long-term recovery and prognosis for patients with CVD. Studies have shown that predictive nursing can improve the quality of care and that the information -knowledge-attitude-practice (IKAP) nursing model has a positive impact on patients who suffered a stroke. Few studies have combined these two nursing models to treat CVD. AIM: To explore the effect of the IKAP nursing model combined with predictive nursing on the Fugl-Meyer motor function (FMA) score, Barthel index score, and disease knowledge mastery rate in patients with CVD. METHODS: A total of 140 patients with CVD treated at our hospital between December 2019 and September 2021 were randomly divided into two groups, with 70 patients in each. The control group received routine nursing, while the observation group received the IKAP nursing model combined with predictive nursing. Both groups were observed for self-care ability, motor function, and disease knowledge mastery rate after one month of nursing. RESULTS: There was no clear difference between the Barthel index and FMA scores of the two groups before nursing (P > 0.05); however, their scores increased after nursing. This increase was more apparent in the observation group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The rates of disease knowledge mastery, timely medication, appropriate exercise, and reasonable diet were significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group (P < 0.05). The satisfaction rate in the observation group (97.14%) was significantly higher than that in the control group (81.43%; P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The IKAP nursing model, combined with predictive nursing, is more effective than routine nursing in the care of patients with CVD, and it can significantly improve the Barthel index and FMA scores with better knowledge acquisition, as well as produce high satisfaction in patients. Moreover, they can be widely used in the clinical setting.

ABSTRACT

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma is a pathological type of liver cancer and accounts for the majority of primary liver cancers. We conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy and safety of immune checkpoint inhibitors in combination with antiangiogenic drugs in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods: We searched scientific literature databases and clinical trials databases through May 2022 for required studies. Progression-free survival was taken as the main outcome, and overall survival, response rate and adverse events as secondary outcomes. These data were extracted, combined and used for meta-analysis to compare the treatment effect and safety of immune checkpoint inhibitors combined with antiangiogenic drugs in patients with advanced/unresectable/metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma. Results: This study included 3 randomized controlled trials and 6 single-arm trials of immune checkpoint inhibitors in combination with antiangiogenic drugs in hepatocellular carcinoma. Meta-analysis showed that compared with single use, combination of the two can significantly improve PFS (HR=5.93, 95% CI=5.41, 6.45) and OS (HR=15.84, 95% CI=15.39, 16.28). The ORR and DOR of patients with combination therapy were HR=19.11, 95% CI=15.99, 22.22 and HR=12.26, 95% CI=10.32, 14.21, respectively. Common adverse reactions to combination therapy included hypertension (26.8%), diarrhea (23.6%), fatigue (23.8%), decreased appetite (22.8%), hypothyroidism (9.9%), and rash (14.5%). Conclusion: In the treatment of advanced/unresectable/metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma, immune checkpoint inhibitors combined with antiangiogenic drugs achieved better survival benefits than alone. In addition, the combination therapy has tolerable safety.

ABSTRACT

Revealing the organizing principles of developing neural networks is a difficult but significant task in neuroscience. As a creature with a rather compact and well-studied neural network, C. elegans is an ideal subject for neuroscience study. However, the researches on its developing neural network remain challenging. The changes in specific properties of neural network across development may uncover part of its principles. Motif is a typical structure property that can be well applied to various complex networks. Here, we study the motif changes in C. elegans neural network across development. By counting the occurrence number of all three-node subgraph motif structures in its neural network at different stages of C. elegans development, along with those in corresponding random networks, we determine which of these structures are motifs for C. elegans, finding out the regular changes of motifs during its development. Combined with the potential function of these subgraph motifs and synaptic information, we gain insight into the organizing principle of neural network during development, which may increase our understanding of neuroscience and inspire the construction of artificial neural network.
