ABSTRACT
Homelessness is associated with premature mortality, increased morbidity, and poor quality of life. Transitioning from homelessness to housing is a complex process, particularly for individuals with mental illness. This article presents a systematic review of 26 empirical studies exploring the transition of adults from homelessness to finding a home. Seven qualitative, 14 quantitative, and 5 mixed-method studies were critically appraised and synthesized yielding persistent qualitative themes such as maintaining stability, making adjustments, and a place called home, and quantitative key categories including quality of life, sociodemographics, and housing conditions. More research is needed exploring factors related successful housing placement.

Depression creates an additional burden for adults with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), negatively affecting disease outcomes and quality of life. An integrative literature review of twenty-three quantitative studies was conducted on correlates and factors predictive of depression in adults with RA. Methodological assessment tools were used to independently evaluate the data quality by two reviewers. Prevalence rates ranged from 6.6 to 66.25%. Correlates included pain, functional status, disease duration, and RA treatment. Predictors, including sociodemographics, pain, coping ability, support, functional status, and clinical factors, varied depending upon the sample, standardized measure, and geographic location. Understanding correlates/predictors could guide the development of comprehensive care.

This phenomenological study explored (a) the lived experience of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), (b) the patient's view of the nurse's role, and (c) the patient as comanager of RA. The purposive sample consisted of 6 Caucasian women living in West Virginia. Using Colaizzi's methodology, a rich, exhaustive description of living with RA emerged. Recommendations for nursing care quality focus on providing personalized, holistic, and humanistic care, which may ultimately improve the patient's quality of life.
