ABSTRACT

Ash trees (Fraxinus) exhibit rich genetic diversity and wide adaptation to various ecological environments, several of which are highly salt-tolerant. Dissecting the genomic basis underlying ash tree salt adaptation is vital for its resistance breeding. Here, we presented eleven high-quality chromosome-level genome assemblies for Fraxinus species, revealing two unequal sub-genome compositions and two more recent whole-genome triplication events in evolutionary history. A Fraxinus structural variation-based pan-genome was constructed and revealed that presence-absence variations (PAVs) of transmembrane transport genes likely contribute to Fraxinus salt adaptation. Through whole-genome resequencing of an inter-species cross F1-population of F. velutina 'Lula 3' (salt-tolerant) × F. pennsylvanica 'Lula 5' (salt-sensitive), we performed a salt tolerance PAV-based quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping and pinpointed two PAV-QTLs and candidate genes associated with Fraxinus salt tolerance. Mechanismly, FvbHLH85 enhanced salt tolerance by mediating reactive oxygen species and Na+/K+ homeostasis, while FvSWEET5 by mediating osmotic homeostasis. Collectively, these findings provide valuable genomic resources for Fraxinus salt resistance breeding and research community.

ABSTRACT

Monitoring the building blast vibration signal is an efficient way to determine the power of blast vibration hazards. Due to the harsh measurement environment, noise is inevitably introduced into the recorded signals. This research presents a denoising approach based on Improved complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with adaptive noise(ICEEMDAN) and Composite Multiscale Permutation Entropy (CMPE). First, the noisy blast vibration signal is decomposed into different intrinsic mode functions using ICEEMDAN; then multiple intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) are separated into pure and noisy using CMPE, the noisy IMFs are denoised using wavelet thresholding; finally the blast wave is reconstructed using the pure and denoised mixed IMFs. The proposed approach was compared with four other approaches (CEEMDAN-CMPE, VMD-CMPE, SVMD-CMPE, and WST). The results indicate that the proposed approach has better performance and can be considered as an effective denoising method for building blast vibration signals.

ABSTRACT

The mechanism for water-saving and high-yield of wide-range precision sowing technology remains unclear. We investigated the impact of wide-range precision sowing on the physiological characteristics of root system, water consumption, and grain yield of wheat 'Jimai 22' during the growing seasons of 2017-2019. We set up two planting modes: wide precision sowing and conventional strip sowing, and three row spacings of 20 cm, 25 cm, and 30 cm under water-saving cultivation with supplemental irrigation to examine the effects of planting modes on root biomass and senescence characteristics of wheat, water utilization characteristics, interplant evaporation, grain yield, and water utilization efficiency. The results showed that the 25 cm treatment (K25) led to an increase in root weight density, root soluble protein content, and root activity by 7.2%-23.9%, 8.7%-25.1%, 10.7%-29.9%, and 7.3%-27.6%, 8.0%-38.5%, 15.2%-32.7%, respectively, compared to the other treatments. At the same row spacing, the wide-range precision sowing treatment showed a significantly higher soil water storage consumption and proportion to total water consumption compared to the conventional strip-tillage treatment. Additionally, irrigation and interplant evaporation were lower in the wide-range precision sowing treatment. The K25 treatment exhibited significantly higher water consumption and modal coefficient of water consumption from flowering to ripening than other treatments. Furthermore, it had significantly higher seed yield, water utilization efficiency, and irrigation utilization efficiency than the other treatments. We found that a 25 cm spacing in the lower rows and density of 180-270 plants·m-2 was the water-saving and high-yielding planting pattern of wide-range precision sowing wheat in Huang-Huai-Hai region.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The occurrence of cervical cancer may be related to estrogen and estrogen receptors. This study investigated the expression of lnc-CCDC170-4:1, ESR1 (estrogen receptor 1), lncRNA SRA, and CYP19A1 (aromatase) in cervical squamous cell carcinoma tissues, as well as their relationship with the clinical characteristics of patients. Methods: Whole transcriptome sequencing analysis was performed on cervical squamous cell carcinoma tissues (n=4) and normal tissues (n=4). The expressions of lnc-CCDC170-4:1, ESR1, lncRNA SRA, and CYP19A1 were validated in 26 cases of cervical cancer tissue and 30 cases of normal cervical tissue using qRT-PCR. The relationship of gene expression with the clinical characteristics and 5-year overall survival rates of cervical cancer patients was analyzed. Results: The expression levels of CYP19A1 and lncRNA SRA were upregulated, while those of ESR1 and lnc-CCDC170-4:1 were downregulated in cervical squamous cell carcinoma tissue. However, their expression was not related to 5-year overall survival rates (p>0.05). Low expression of lnc-CCDC170-4:1 was associated with lymph node metastasis (p=0.030) and Tumor size (p=0.047), Low expression of ESR was associated with FIGO Staging (p=0.041)and Tumor size(p=0.002),High expression of LncSRA was associated with FIGO Staging(p=0.004). Conclusion: Estrogen and estrogen receptors may play a role in the occurrence and development of cervical squamous cell carcinoma. Low expression of lnc-CCDC170-4:1 and ESR1 are associated with lymph node metastasis and FIGO stage, so it may be a potential biomarker to evaluate the prognosis of cervical cancer.

ABSTRACT

Exercise has emerged as one of the important and effective non-drug therapies used for management of type 2 diabetes (T2D) in certain nations. The present report summarizes the latest findings from the research on the beneficial effect of exercise on T2D. The objectives were to provide references for the theoretical study and the clinical practice of exercise-based management of T2D, in addition to identify the limitations of the existing literature, thereby provide direction for future research in this field.

BACKGROUND: Nasopharyngeal amyloidoma is a rare, locally aggressive tumor that has been reported in the English literature in only 38 cases to date, most of which were in the form of case reports. The present study was aimed to summarize the characteristics of this rare tumor, with the goal of providing new insights for diagnosis and treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We report three cases of nasopharyngeal amyloidoma diagnosed in our hospital following comprehensive medical examination and review the current literature on all cases of nasopharyngeal amyloidoma from PubMed. The journey of nasopharyngeal amyloidoma, including presentation, diagnostics, surgeries, and follow-up was outlined. RESULTS: None of the three patients had systemic amyloidosis. CT and nasal endoscopy showed irregular masses obstructing the nasopharyngeal cavity. Congo red staining confirmed the deposition of amyloid, and immunohistochemical analysis showed that the amyloid deposition was the AL light chain type. Through literature review, we found that nasopharyngeal amyloidoma most commonly occurred in individuals over the age of 40, patients usually had a good prognosis after complete tumor resection; however, there were still cases of recurrence, and unresected patients were at risk of progression to systemic amyloidosis. The efficacy of radiotherapy and chemotherapy was currently uncertain. CONCLUSION: Early clinical and pathological diagnosis is crucial, and surgical intervention is the primary treatment option for this disease. Although patients usually have a favorable prognosis, long-term monitoring is necessary to detect potential relapses and initiate timely intervention.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: This study investigated the long-term clinical and angiographic outcomes of encephaloduroarteriosynangiosis treatment for symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic arterial steno-occlusive disease to further evaluate the potential therapeutic role of encephaloduroarteriosynangiosis in this population. METHODS AND RESULTS: A total of 152 adult patients with symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic arterial steno-occlusive disease who were treated with encephaloduroarteriosynangiosis and intensive medical management across 3 tertiary centers in China between January 2011 and September 2019 were retrospectively included. The primary outcomes were defined as postoperative cerebrovascular events, including ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. The postoperative neovascularization was analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively by using angiography. Clinical, radiological, and long-term follow-up data were analyzed using Cox regression, logistic regression, and linear regression analyses. Primary outcome rates were 3.2% (5/152) within 30 days, 6.6% (10/152) within 2 years, 9.2% (14/152) within 5 years, and 11.1% (17/152) during a median 9.13 years follow-up. Initial infarction symptoms were positively associated with recurrent ischemic stroke. Additionally, posterior circulation involvement and coexisting cardiac disease indicated poorer neurological status, whereas encephaloduroarteriosynangiosis neovascularization efficacy was negatively associated with older age and vascular risk factors but positively associated with posterior circulation involvement. CONCLUSIONS: Encephaloduroarteriosynangiosis plus intensive medical management appears efficacious and safe for symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic arterial steno-occlusive disease, with low perioperative risk and favorable long-term results. Further prospective trials are needed to verify its efficacy and determine the optimal patient selection criteria.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the hip joint biomechanics of the acetabular anatomical reconstruction and nonanatomical reconstruction in total hip arthroplasty (THA) for Crowe type Ⅲ developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) by finite element method, which provided theoretical foundation and experimental basis for the anatomical acetabular reconstruction during THA in clinical practice. METHODS: One patient with left end-stage hip arthritis secondary to Crowe type Ⅲ DDH was selected in this study, who underwent total hip arthroplasty in the orthopedic department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College in April 2020. This patient was female, 57 years old. The preoperative and postoperative three dimentional CT scan of the patient's pelvis were performed. Fourteen acetabular cup models with different anteversion, inclination and rotation center height were established in Mimics and 3-Matic software. The boundary and load conditions were set in Abaqus software. The Von Mises and stress distribution of the hip joint were calculated and observed. RESULTS: In the Crowe type Ⅲ DDH THA, if the hip rotation center was restored anatomically and the acetabular cup's inclination was set as 40°, the cup's anteversion varied from 5° to 25°, the lowest Von Mises value of acetabular cup and polyethylene liner occured in 20°anteversioin;if the hip rotation center was restored anatomically and the acetabular cup's anteversion was set as 15°, the cup's inclination varied from 35° to 55°, the lowest Von Mises value of acetabular cup and polyethylene liner occured in 35° inclination;if the acetabular cup's anteversion and inclination were set as 15°and 40°respectively, the up migration of hip rotaion center varied from 0 mm to 20 mm, the lowest Von Mises value of acetabular cup and polyethylene liner occured in 10 mm up migration. In all fourteen models, the Von Mises value of the acetabulum, acetabulum cup and polyethylene liner were lowest when the acetabular cup's anteversion and inlcination were 15°, 35° respectively, as well as the rotation center was restored anatomically. CONCLUSION: In total hip arthroplasty for Crowe type Ⅲ DDH, the anatomical restoration of hip rotation center with 15° anteversion and 35° inclination of the acetabular cup are suggested, bone graft above the acetabular cup and additional screws are recommended simultaneously to further reduce the Von Mises of hip joint.

ABSTRACT

Sinorhizobium fredii CCBAU45436 is an excellent rhizobium that plays an important role in agricultural production. However, there still needs more comprehensive understanding of the metabolic system of S. fredii CCBAU45436, which hinders its application in agriculture. Therefore, based on the first-generation metabolic model iCC541 we developed a new genome-scale metabolic model iAQY970, which contains 970 genes, 1,052 reactions, 942 metabolites and is scored 89% in the MEMOTE test. Cell growth phenotype predicted by iAQY970 is 81.7% consistent with the experimental data. The results of mapping the proteome data under free-living and symbiosis conditions to the model showed that the biomass production rate in the logarithmic phase was faster than that in the stable phase, and the nitrogen fixation efficiency of rhizobia parasitized in cultivated soybean was higher than that in wild-type soybean, which was consistent with the actual situation. In the symbiotic condition, there are 184 genes that would affect growth, of which 94 are essential; In the free-living condition, there are 143 genes that influence growth, of which 78 are essential. Among them, 86 of the 94 essential genes in the symbiotic condition were consistent with the prediction of iCC541, and 44 essential genes were confirmed by literature information; meanwhile, 30 genes were identified by DEG and 33 genes were identified by Geptop. In addition, we extracted four key nitrogen fixation modules from the model and predicted that sulfite reductase (EC 1.8.7.1) and nitrogenase (EC 1.18.6.1) as the target enzymes to enhance nitrogen fixation by MOMA, which provided a potential focus for strain optimization. Through the comprehensive metabolic model, we can better understand the metabolic capabilities of S. fredii CCBAU45436 and make full use of it in the future.

ABSTRACT

Electrochemical upgrading methanol into value-added formate at the anode in alkaline media enables the boosting production of hydrogen fuel at the cathode with saved energy. To achieve such a cost-effective and efficient electrocatalytic process, herein this work presents a Mn-doped nickel iron layered double hydroxides supported on nickel foam, derived from a simple hydrothermal synthesis. This developed electrocatalyst could act as an efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst for methanol-to-formate with a high faradaic efficiency of nearly 100 %, and for hydrogen evolution reaction, at an external potential of 1.5 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode. Additionally, a current density of 131.1 mA cm-2 with a decay of merely 12.2 % over 120 h continuous long-term testing was generated in co-electrocatalysis of water/methanol solution. Further density functional theoretical calculations were used to unravel the methanol-to-formate reaction mechanism arising from the doping of Fe and/or Mn. This work offers a good example of co-electrocatalysis to produce formate and green hydrogen fuel using a bifunctional electrocatalyst.

OBJECTIVE: To establish the finite element model of spinal canal reconstruction and internal fixation,analysis influence of spinal canal reconstruction and internal fixation on spinal stability,and verify the effectiveness and reliability of spinal canal reconstruction and internal fixation in spinal canal surgery. METHODS: A 30-year-old male healthy volunteer with a height of 172 cm and weight of 75 kg was selected and his lumbar CT data were collected to establish a finite element model of normal lumbar L3-L5,and the results were compared with in vitro solid results and published finite element analysis results to verify the validity of the model. They were divided into normal group,laminectomy group and spinal canal reconstruction group according to different treatment methods. Under the same boundary fixation and physiological load conditions,six kinds of activities were performed,including forward bending,backward extension,left bending,right bending,left rotation and right rotation,and the changes of range of motion (ROM) of L3-L4,L4-L5 segments and overall maximum ROM of L3-L5 were analyzed under the six conditions. RESULTS: The ROM displacement range of each segment of the constructed L3-L5 finite element model was consistent with the in vitro solid results and previous literature data,which confirms the validity of the model. In L3-L4,ROM of spinal canal reconstruction group was slightly increased than that of normal group during posterior extension(>5% difference),and ROM of other conditions was similar to that of normal group(<5% difference). ROM in laminectomy group was significantly increase than that in normal group and spinal canal reconstruction group under the condition of flexion,extension,left and right rotation. In L4-L5,ROM in spinal canal reconstruction group was similar to that in normal group(<5% difference),while ROM in laminectomy group was significantly higher than that in normal group and spinal canal reconstruction group(>5% difference). In the overall maximum ROM of L3-L5,spinal canal reconstruction group was only slightly higher than normal group under the condition of posterior extension(>5% difference),while laminectomy was significantly higher than normal group and spinal canal reconstruction group under the condition of anterior flexion,posterior extension,left and right rotation(>5% difference). The changes of each segment ROM and overall ROM of L3-L5 showed laminectomy group>spinal canal reconstruction group>normal group. CONCLUSION: Laminectomy could seriously affect biomechanical stability of the spine,but application of spinal canal reconstruction and internal fixation could effectively reduce ROM displacement of the responsible segment of spine and maintain its biomechanical stability.

ABSTRACT

The serine/threonine protein phosphatase family involves series of cellular processes, such as pre-mRNA splicing. The function of one of its members, protein phosphatase, Mg2+/Mn2+ dependent 1G (PPM1G), remains unclear in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Our results demonstrated that PPM1G was significantly overexpressed in HCC cells and tumor tissues compared with the normal liver tissues at both protein and RNA levels. High PPM1G expression is associated with shorter overall survival (p < 0.0001) and disease-free survival (p = 0.004) in HCC patients. Enhanced expression of PPM1G increases the cell proliferation rate, and knockdown of PPM1G led to a significant reduction in tumor volume in vivo. Further experiments illustrated that upregulated-PPM1G expression increased the protein expression of gain-of-function (GOF) mutant p53. Besides, the immunoprecipitation analysis revealed a direct interaction between PPM1G and GOF mutant p53. Collectively, PPM1G can be a powerful prognostic predictor and potential drug-target molecule.

BACKGROUND: A significant relationship between gastric cancer (GC) and depression has been found in the last 20 years. However, there is no comprehensive information that helps researchers find popular and potential research directions on GC and depression. AIM: To determine the research status and hotspots by bibliometric analysis of relevant publications on the relationship between GC and depression. METHODS: We used the Web of Science Core Collection to search and collate the literature on GC and depression from 2000 to 2022 on 31 May, 2023. Then, visualization analysis was performed using VOSviewer software (version 1.6.19) and the Bibliometrix package in R software. RESULTS: We retrieved 153 pertinent publications from 2000 to 2022. The annual publication count showed an overall upward trend. China had the most prominent publications and significant contributions to this field (n = 64, 41.83%). Before 2020, most studies focused on "the effect of GC on the development and progression of depression in patients." The latest research trends indicate that "the effect of depression on the occurrence and development of GC and its mechanism" will receive more attention in the future. CONCLUSION: The study of "the effect of depression on the occurrence and development of GC and its mechanism" has emerged as a novel research theme over the past two years, which may become a research hotspot in this field. This study provides new insights into the hotpots and frontiers of the relationship between GC and depression, potentially guiding researchers toward hot research topics in the future.

OBJECTIVES: To study the clinical characteristics and prognosis of SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant infection-associated acute necrotizing encephalopathy (ANE) in children. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the medical data of 12 children with SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant infection-associated ANE who were admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Qingdao Women and Children's Hospital from December 18 to 29, 2022. The children were divided into two groups based on outcomes: death group (7 cases) and survival group (5 cases). The clinical manifestations and auxiliary examination results were compared between the two groups. RESULTS: The median age of the 12 patients was 30 months, with a male-to-female ratio of 1:1. All patients presented with persistent high fever, with a median highest body temperature of 41℃. The median time from fever onset to seizure or consciousness disturbance was 18 hours. The death group had a higher proportion of neurogenic shock, coagulation dysfunction, as well as elevated lactate, D-dimer, interleukin-6, interleukin--8, and interleukin-10 levels compared to the survival group (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Children with SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant infection-associated with ANE commonly present with persistent high fever, rapidly progressing disease, and have a high likelihood of developing consciousness disorders and multiorgan dysfunction within a short period. The occurrence of neurogenic shock, coagulation dysfunction, and significantly elevated cytokine levels suggests an increased risk of mortality.

ABSTRACT

This study included 46 patients with class II malocclusion ranging in age from 19 to 39 years old treated with bilateral sagittal split ramous osteotomy (BSSRO). Left and right temporomandibular joints (TMJs) of each subject were evaluated independently with cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) before operation (T1), 1 week after operation (T2), and 1 year after operation (T3) and assessed the effects of orthognathic surgery (OGS) on the temporomandibular joint disease (TMD) symptoms. Temporomandibular joint morphology evaluation included condylar volume, condylar area, cortical bone thickness, depth of the mandibular fossa, fossa thickness, joint nodule angle, joint space, and condyle-fossa relationship, which were calculated by using the Mimics software and 3-matic software. Data were statistically analyzed with SPSS software (P <0.05 means statistically significant). In our study, bilateral TMJs have no difference in T3. Bilateral sagittal split ramous osteotomy had no significant effect on the articular fossa. The condyle volume and surface area decreased from T1 to T3, but the cortical thickness of the bone did not change significantly. More anterior condyle positions in T1 and more posterior in T3.21 patients had at least 1 sign or symptom of TMD in T1 and 27 patients in T3. Four patients who were asymptomatic in T1 developed pain after surgery, 10 developed noises, 12 showed limited mouth opening, and 8 had abnormal opening patterns. It is concluded that more condylar posterior position after BSSRO and the reduction of condyle may be related to the enlargement of anterior space. The number of patients with joint symptoms increased postoperative, and the impact of BSSRO on TMD may be negative.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Specific mechanisms of lymph node (LN) metastasis in early-stage gastric cancer (GC) have not been elucidated. The role of anemia, a vital clinical feature of GC, in LN metastasis is also unclear. Since the number of erythroid progenitor cells (EPCs) is increased in chronic anemia, we investigated its association with LN metastasis in GC. METHODS: Flow cytometry and immunofluorescence analyses were performed to sort and study EPCs from the circulation and tumors of patients with stage I-III GC. The effect of these EPCs on the activation of T and B cells and on the functions of lymphatic endothelial cells (LECs) was determined, and their ability to promote LN metastasis was evaluated using a footpad-popliteal LN metastasis model based on two human adenocarcinoma GC cell lines in nude mice. The prognostic value of EPCs was also analyzed. RESULTS: The proportion of CD45- EPCs was higher in the mononuclear cells in the circulation, tumors, and LNs of GC patients with LN metastasis (N+) than in those of GC patients without LN metastasis (N0). In N+ patients, CD45- EPCs were more abundant in metastatic LNs than in non-metastatic LNs. Lymphatic vessel endothelial hyaluronan receptor 1 immunoreactivity in tumors revealed that CD45- EPCs were positively associated with nodal stages and lymph vessel density. Furthermore, CD45- EPCs increased LEC proliferation and migration through their S100A8/A9 heterodimer-induced hybrid epithelial/mesenchymal (E/M) state; however, they did not influence the invasion and tubulogenesis of LECs or T and B cell proliferation. CD45- EPCs promoted LN metastasis in vivo; the S100A8/A9 heterodimer mimicked this phenomenon. Finally, CD45- EPCs predicted the overall and disease-free survival of stage I-III GC patients after radical resection. CONCLUSIONS: The CD45- EPCs accumulated in GC tissues and metastatic LNs and promoted LN metastasis via the S100A8/9-induced hybrid E/M state of LECs, which was the specific mechanism of LN metastasis in the early stages of GC.

BACKGROUND: To investigate the effect of preoperative high-intensity strength training combined with balance training on the knee function of end-stage knee osteoarthritis (KOA) patients after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). METHODS: A prospective study was conducted on end-stage KOA patients awaiting TKA. The patients were divided into an experimental group and a control group according to whether they received a preoperative training intervention. The differences in knee flexor-extensor strength, knee range of motion (ROM), timed up and go (TUG) test result, stair ascend/descend test result, Knee Society score (KSS) and Berg balance scale (BBS) score were assessed in both groups at baseline (T1), before operation (T2), 3 months after operation (T3), and 1 year after operation (T4). RESULTS: After high-intensity strength training and balance training, the knee flexor-extensor strength, TUG test result, stair ascend/descend test result, and KSS were all significantly improved at T2 in the experimental group over the control group. At T3, the knee ROM, knee flexor-extensor strength, TUG test result, BBS score, and KSS clinical and functional scores were all significantly superior in the experimental group. The experimental group enjoyed a superiority in KSS clinical and functional scores until T4. Group × time and between-group interactions were found in all assessment indicators in both groups (p < 0.01). CONCLUSION: Preoperative high-intensity strength training combined with balance training can enhance the knee flexor-extensor strength and balance of patients with end-stage KOA in the short term and help improve early outcomes after KOA. BACKGROUND: The clinical and histological features of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients who fall into the "grey zone (GZ)" and do not fit into conventional natural phases are unclear. AIM: To explore the impact of varying the threshold of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels in identifying significant liver injury among GZ patients. METHODS: This retrospective analysis involved a cohort of 1617 adult patients diagnosed with CHB who underwent liver biopsy. The clinical phases of CHB patients were determined based on the European Association for the Study of the Liver 2017 Clinical Practice Guidelines. GZ CHB patients were classified into four groups: GZ-A (HBeAg positive, normal ALT levels, and HBV DNA ≤ 107 IU/mL), GZ-B (HBeAg positive, elevated ALT levels, and HBV DNA < 104 or > 107 IU/mL), GZ-C (HBeAg negative, normal ALT levels, and HBV DNA ≥ 2000 IU/mL), and GZ-D (HBeAg negative, elevated ALT levels, and HBV DNA ≤ 2000 IU/mL). Significant hepatic injury (SHI) was defined as the presence of notable liver inflammation (≥ G2) and/or significant fibrosis (≥ S2). RESULTS: The results showed that 50.22% of patients were classified as GZ, and 63.7% of GZ patients developed SHI. The study also found that lowering the ALT treatment thresholds to the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases 2018 treatment criteria (35 U/L for men and 25 U/L for women) can more accurately identify patients with significant liver damage in the GZ phases. In total, the proportion of patients with ALT ≤ 40 U/L who required antiviral therapy was 64.86% [(221 + 294)/794]. When we lowered the ALT treatment threshold to the new criteria (30 U/L for men and 19 U/L for women), the same outcome was revealed, and the proportion of patients with ALT ≤ 40 U/L who required antiviral therapy was 75.44% [(401 + 198)/794]. Additionally, the proportion of SHI was 49.1% in patients under 30 years old and increased to 55.3% in patients over 30 years old (P = 0.136). CONCLUSION: These findings suggest the importance of redefining the natural phases of CHB and using new ALT treatment thresholds for better diagnosis and management of CHB patients in the GZ phases.

With the increasing shortage of water resources, people are seeking more innovative ways to collect fog to meet the growing need for production and the demand for livelihood. It has been proven that fog collection is efficient for collecting water in dry but foggy areas. As a hot research topic in recent years, bionic surfaces with fog collection functions have attracted widespread attention in practical applications and basic research. By studying natural organisms and bionic surfaces, more avenues are provided for the development of fog collection devices. Firstly, starting from biological prototypes, this article explored the structural characteristics and fog collection mechanisms of natural organisms such as spider silk, desert beetles, cactus, Nepenthes and other animals and plants (Sarracenia, shorebird and wheat awn), revealing the fog collection mechanism of the natural organisms based on microstructures. Secondly, based on the theory of interfacial tension, we would delve into the fog collection function's theoretical basis and wetting model, expounding the fog collection mechanism from a theoretical perspective. Thirdly, a detailed introduction was given to prepare bionic surfaces and recently explore fog collection devices. For bionic surfaces of a single biological prototype, the fog collection efficiency is about 2000-4000 mg cm-2 h-1. For bionic surfaces of multiple biological prototypes, the fog collection efficiency reaches 7000 mg cm-2 h-1. Finally, a critical analysis was conducted on the current challenges and future developments, aiming to promote the next generation of fog collection devices from a scientific perspective from research to practical applications.

ABSTRACT

Insomnia induced by mental retardation is related to the synergistic dysfunction of "shaoyang, sanjiao and haishi (the period of the day from 9 pm to 11 pm) " in pathogenesis. Based on "trinity theory of shaoyang, sanjiao and haishi ", the acupoints of hand and food shaoyang meridians on the head and face (Fengchi [GB 20], Sizhukong [TE 23] and Jiaosun [TE 20]) and those on the four limbs (Sanyangluo [TE 8], Zhongzhu [TE 3], Qiuxu [GB 40] and Xiaxi [GB 43]) are selected to regulate the pivot function of shaoyang. Front-mu and back-shu points (Sanjiaoshu [BL 22], Danzhong [CV 17] and Tianshu [ST 5]), as well as auricular points (Gan [CO12], Dan [CO11] and Sanjiao [CO17]) are chosen to promote qi circulation of shaoyang and sanjiao meridians. In association with the relevant knowledge of time acupuncture at haishi, the circadian rhythm of sleep is set up and the appropriate sleep pattern is developed.
