CUNet3+: A Multiscale Connected UNet for the Segmentation of Lung Cancer Cells in Pathology Sections Stained Using Rapid On-Site Cytopathological Evaluation.

Lung cancer is an increasingly serious health problem worldwide, and early detection and diagnosis are crucial for successful treatment. With the development of artificial intelligence and the growth of data volume, machine learning techniques can play a significant role in improving the accuracy of early detection in lung cancer. This study proposes a deep learning-based segmentation algorithm for rapid on-site cytopathological evaluation (ROSE) to enhance the diagnostic efficiency of endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration biopsy (EBUS-TBNA) during surgery. By utilizing the CUNet3+ network model, cell clusters, including cancer cell clusters, can be accurately segmented in ROSE-stained pathological sections. The model demonstrated high accuracy, with an F1-score of 0.9604, recall of 0.9609, precision of 0.9654, and accuracy of 0.9834 on the internal testing data set. It also achieved an area under the receiver-operating characteristic curve of 0.9972 for cancer identification. The proposed algorithm provides time savings for on-site diagnosis, improves EBUS-TBNA efficiency, and outperforms classical segmentation algorithms in accurately identifying lung cancer cell clusters in ROSE-stained images. It effectively reduces over-segmentation, decreases network parameters, and enhances computational efficiency, making it suitable for real-time patient evaluation during surgical procedures.

Efficacy and Safety of Chinese Medicine in Treating Arrhythmia: Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of arrhythmia. METHODS: The researchers searched CNKI, VIP, WF, PubMed, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library with the set-up themes as randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on the clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of arrhythmia. This research evaluated all the retrieve literature and conducted selection based on the evaluation. Stata software was applied for meta-analysis. RESULTS: 23 articles were retrieved with a total patient number of 2846. The results observed from the meta-analysis indicated the following: (1) compared with the result showed in placebo group, the traditional Chinese medicine group presented to have good efficacy, especially in the treatment of premature ventricular contractions. (2) In comparison with the western medicine group, the curative effect of Chinese medicine could approximately equal the therapeutic effect as western medicine. (3) Compared with the application of sole western medicine group, the combination of both traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine could have a better curative effect. CONCLUSION: In the treatment of arrhythmia disease, the application of traditional Chinese medicine can be considered as an effective method. In addition to that, the therapeutic effect obtained from the combination of both Chinese traditional medicine and western medicine is clinically better than that of the sole use of western medicine.

Compound Xuanju Capsule combined with western medicine for the treatment of male oligoasthenotspermia: A protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: Oligoasthenotspermia is a condition in which the number and motility of sperm in the semen of fertile men are lower than the normal level. Oligoasthenotspermia not only causes damage to the reproductive system, but also causes infertility in severe cases. Compound Xuanju capsule is a kind of Chinese patent medicine. Traditional medicine believes that compound Xuanju capsule can nourish kidney Yang, benefit kidney essence, improve semen quality, and treat infertility caused by oligoasthenotspermia. Clinical practice shows that compound Xuanju capsule combined with western medicine has a good therapeutic effect on male oligoasthenotspermia, but there is no evidence of evidence-based medicine. The purpose of this study is to systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of compound Xuanju capsule combined with western medicine in the treatment of male oligoasthenotspermia, and to improve the evidence-based basis for the clinical application of compound Xuanju capsule in the treatment of male oligoasthenotspermia. METHODS: A systematic search was performed by retrieving on English database (PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and The Cochrane Library) and Chinese database (CNKI, Wanfang, Weipu (VIP), CBM). Besides, manually search for Google and Baidu academic of compound XuanJu capsule combined western medicine in the treatment of male oligoasthenotspermia in randomized controlled clinical research. The retrieval time limit was from the establishment of the database to July 2020. Two researchers independently extracted and evaluated the quality of the data in the included study. A meta-analysis was performed using RevMan5.3 software, no language restrictions. RESULTS: In this study, the efficacy and safety of compound Xuanju capsule combined with western medicine in the treatment of male oligoasthenotspermia were evaluated by the total effective rate, semen parameters and other indexes. CONCLUSIONS: This study will provide reliable evidence-based evidence for the clinical application of compound Xuanju capsule combined with western medicine in the treatment of male oligoasthenotspermia. The efficacy and safety of acupuncture or combined with western medicine for dry eye: A protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: As a traditional Chinese medicine external treatment method, acupuncture is characterized by simple operation, significant treatment effect and few side effects. Dry eye, also known as conjunctival xerosis, refers to pathological changes in tissues of ocular surface caused by abnormal tear quality and quantity or dynamics due to various reasons, which can cause red and swollen eyes, congestion, and severe cases may result in lesions of the conjunctiva. Clinical practice shows that acupuncture has a certain therapeutic effect on dry eye, but there is a lack of medical evidence. The objective of the research carried out in this program is to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture combined with western medicine in the treatment of dry eye. METHODS: Computer retrieval English database (PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library) and Chinese database (CNKI, WF, VIP, CBMDISC), moreover manual retrieval of clinical research on the treatment of dry eyes by acupuncture in combination with western medicine from Baidu academic and Google Academic from database building to May 2020, the quality included in the study was evaluated and data extraction was completed by 2 independent researchers. RevMan5.3 software was utilized for meta-analysis to the included literature. RESULTS: In this study, the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture combined with western medicine in the treatment of dry eye were evaluated by several indicators, such as the score of the ocular surface disease index, the amount of tear secretion and the tear film rupture time. CONCLUSIONS: This study will provide reliable evidence for the clinical application of acupuncture combined with western medicine in the treatment of dry eyes.
