ABSTRACT

To construct an index system for evaluating the supply of Internet+ public health services, and to provide a practical tool for assessing the supply of Internet+ public health services in an objective and scientific manner. The research team drafted the index system framework by combing the literature. The Delphi method was used to determine the content and weight of the index through two rounds of expert consultations. At the same time, the Cronbach coefficient and factor analysis were adopted to test the reliability and validity. What's more, the analytic hierarchy process and the TOPSIS method were applied to analyze the empirical data of 15 counties and cities in the eastern, central, and western regions of China. The constructed indicator system includes 3 first-level indicators, 6 second-level indicators and 29 third-level indicators. Through reliability and validity tests, the stability and practicability of the index system are demonstrated in empirical research. The evaluation index system constructed in this article can be applied to the performance evaluation of Internet + public health service.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of Chevron minimally-invasive osteotomy and internal fixation with ISO intramedullary plate plus traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)bone-setting manipulations for the treatment of moderate hallux valgus.Methods A retrospective study was conducted.A total of 49 patients(62 feet)with moderate hallux valgus were treated with Chevron minimally-invasive osteotomy and internal fixation with ISO intramedullary plate,and were given TCM bone-setting manipulations before the operation,during the operation,and after the operation.The efficacy was evaluated by using the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)score and the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society(AOFAS)forefoot score after the operation.Before the operation and 12 months after the operation,the hallux valgus angle(HVA),intermetatarsal angle(IMA)between the first and second metatarsal bone,and the distal metatarsal articular angle(DMAA)showed by X-ray imaging in the weight-bearing position of the foot were recorded.Results(1)All of the 49 patients were followed up for 12 to 24 months,with a mean of(20.6±3.1)months.(2)The X-ray imaging assessment showed that 12 months after the operation,the mean HVA,IMA and DMAA values of the 49 patients(62 feet)were significantly lower than those before the operation,and the differences were all statistically significant(P<0.01).(3)Twelve months after the operation,the pain VAS score of 49 patients was(3.14±1.21)points,which was significantly lower than the preoperative score points(7.26±2.52),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).(4)The assessment of joint function showed that 12 months after the operation,the scores of various AOFAS items of pain,function and hallux alignment as well as the overall AOFAS scores of 49 patients were significantly higher than those before the operation,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.01).(5)For the 62 feet in 49 patients,the excellent efficacy was achieved in 53 feet,good efficacy was achieved in 7 feet,and fair efficacy was achieved in 2 feet,with the fine rate of 96.77%(60/62).Conclusion For the treatment of moderate hallux valgus,the application of Chevron minimally-invasive osteotomy and internal fixation with ISO intramedullary plate plus TCM bone-setting manipulations is effective on promoting the reset of hallux-metatarsophalangeal joint,restoring the balance of the joint,and maintaining the equilibrium state of the joint through postoperative rehabilitation guidance.The combined therapy exerts certain efficacy,reduces the recurrence rate,and eventually achieves the early rehabilitation after the operation.

ABSTRACT

Intelligent control systems can effectively assist in the construction and management of laboratory animal facilities, improving operational efficiency, ensuring the reliability of animal experimental results, and significantly saving human resources. The intelligent control system for laboratory animal facilities at Shenzhen Institute for Drug Control was completed in April 2021. It includes an intelligent management platform and an information management system for animal laboratories. The intelligent management platform regulates room environment parameters such as temperature, humidity, and pressure through building equipment management system, controlling devices such as the Venturi valve, electric air valve, electric water valve, and steam humidification valve. At the same time, various environmental parameters are monitored online through the environmental monitoring system. The laboratory’s intelligence is further enhanced by systems such as automatic lighting control, full HD video monitoring, automatic access control and door system, independent ventilation and feeding, automatic cleaning, automatic exhaust gas treatment, centralized gas supply, and real-time instrument parameter monitoring. The information management system for animal laboratories integrates inspection, instrument and equipment, personnel, documents, standard substances, reagents, inspection standards, books, records, scientific research management, relevant applications, quality management, and query statistics. For animal experimentation, a management module has been developed to achieve a comprehensive digitization of animal management. Furthermore, real-time collection and recording of data such as balance calibration, sample quality, and animal weight are facilitated through electronic experimental recording. In summary, the Animal Laboratory of Shenzhen Institute for Drug Control has extensively utilized intelligent systems to achieve real-time online control and monitoring, improve efficiency, ensure high-quality facility operation, and meet standard requirements. Smooth execution of all inspection and research activities has been achieved over the past three years. This paper provides insights into the construction, management, and operation of laboratory animal facilities at Shenzhen Institute for Drug Control, offering guidance for the implementation of intelligent control in similar facilities across China.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the clinical application of portable head and neck magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) device in neurosurgery.Methods:A total of 213 patients with brain diseases who were scanned by portable head and neck MRI device in Center of Neurosurgery, Zhujiang Hospital, Southern Medical University from June to September 2022 were selected. The portable head and neck MRI images and 3.0T conventional MRI images of 10 randomly selected patients were compared; the differences in signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) of different sequences were analyzed. Thirty-one patients accepted tracheal intubation/tracheotomy, or ventilator-assisted breathing were selected as special patient group, and another 30 patients were as general patient group; the differences in comprehensive diagnostic scores of portable head and neck MRI images were compared. Noise intensity differences in different sequences between 3.0T conventional MRI and portable head and neck MRI were statistically compared. Twenty hospitalized volunteers with normal hearing in our center from July to August 2022 were selected, conventional 3.0T MRI and portable head and neck MRI were performed successively, and the noise intensity of different sequences in them was evaluated by using a 5-point system.Results:Compared with those in 3.0T conventional MRI images, the SNR and CNR of T1WI, T2WI, and Liquid attenuated reverse recovery sequence (FLAIR) sequences in portable head and neck MRI images were significantly lower ( P<0.05). No significant difference was noted in the comprehensive diagnostic scores of portable head and neck MRI images between special patients and general patients ( P>0.05). Compared with that in the 3.0T conventional MRI, the noise intensity of different sequences in portable head and neck MRI was significantly reduced ( P<0.05). These volunteers had significantly reduced noise intensity scores of different sequences in portable head and neck MRI compared with that in conventional 3.0T MRI ( P<0.05). Conclusion:Portable head and neck MRI device is easy to use, enjoying high safety, imaging quality and suitability, which meets the clinical needs for neurosurgery patients.

To investigate the regulation of N6- methyladenosine ( m6A ) modification on L-type calcium channels in atrial myocytes under high hydrostatic pressure, mediated by methyltransferase-like protein 3 ( METTL3 ). Methods C57BL/6J mice were randomly assigned to the control group and the hypertension group ( treated with continuous administration of angiotensin for four weeks ). Masson staining was used to observe the fibrosis of mouse atrial tissue, while dot blot assay and Western blot were used to detect the levels of m6A, METTL3, and Cavi1 2 in the atrial tissue. ABSTRACT

Background: There are more than 26 million elderly people in China, and due to the Health China strategy proposed in 2020, "Elderly Health" has become an important topic of concern for all sectors of society. Neighborhoods provide important social relationships. However, Chinese researchers have not extensively explored the impact of these relationships on the physical health of the elderly. Methods: Based on the data from the 2018 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), we constructed a comprehensive research framework integrating ordinary least square (OLS) regression, heterogeneity analysis, IV-2SLS, robustness testing, and Karlson-Holm-Breen (KHB) mediating effect analysis, which can be used to thoroughly examine neighborhood health effects (NHEs) in relation to the physical health of the elderly. Results: The OLS results showed that the NHEs (B = 0.4689, p < 0.01) had a positive influence on the physical health of the elderly, and were lower than the NHEs estimated by IV-2SLS (B = 0.5018, p < 0.01). The mediating effects of social networks and social relationships were analyzed using KHB, and both the total (B = 0.6056, p < 0.01) and indirect (B = 0.0800, p < 0.01) effects on neighborhood health were significant, with the total effect being 10 times larger than the direct effect and 13.24% of the total effect coming from the mediating variable. Conclusions: Firstly, the NHEs positively influence the physical health of elderly persons, but there are heterogeneous differences. Secondly, the IV-2SLS estimation results suggest that not controlling for endogeneity leads to underestimation of the role of the NHEs. Thirdly, using the county-level NHEs, self-rated health, and health changes to replace variables, and grouping by smokers (small sample) and never smoked (large sample), the influence of the NHEs on the physical health of the elderly is robust. Finally, social networks and social relationships are important transmission mechanisms of the NHEs when it comes to the physical health of the elderly.

ABSTRACT

Aim To investigate the role and potential mechanism of transcriptional co-activator p300 in atrial fibrosis caused by high hydrostatic pressure. Methods The left atrial appendage tissues of humans in three groups of sinus rhythm, atrial fibrillation (AF), hypertension and AF were collected. The expressions of p300 protein and TGF-β/Smad3 signaling pathway and fibrotic factors as type I/III collagen Alphal chain (Col-lAl/Col-3Al), matrix metalloproteinase 2/9 (MMP-2/9) were tested by Western blot. Mouse atrial appendage fibroblasts were cultured under hydrostatic pressures of 0, 20 and 40 mmHg. The fibroblasts cultured under 40 mmHg pressure were treated with curcumin and p300 interference RNA. Western blot was used to test changes in the expression of p300 and the above fibrosis indicators. CCK-8 method was used to test changes of cell proliferation. Results The expressions of p300 and TGF-β/Smad3 signaling pathway proteins and fibrotic factors in AF group and hypertension combined with AF group were significantly higher than those in sinus rhythm group (P < 0. 05). 40 mmHg high hydrostatic pressure stimulation in vitro could increase the expression of p300 and fibrotic factors in fibroblasts (P < 0. 0 5) and enhance the proliferation ability (P < 0. 05). Both curcumin and p300 interfering RNA could reverse the increased expression of p300 and fibrotic factors (P < 0. 05) and decrease cell proliferation (P < 0. 05) induced by hydrostatic pressure. Conclusions High hydrostatic pressure can induce atrial fibrosis, which involves the participation of p300 in this process by regulating the TGF-β/Smad3 signaling pathway.

ABSTRACT

The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) caused by the novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has now spread to more than 100 countries posing as a serious threat to the public health on a global scale. Patients with comorbidity such as hypertension suffer more severe infection with elevated case fatality rate. Development of effective anti-viral drug is in urgent need to treat COVID-19 patients. Here we report that calcium channel blockers (CCBs), a type of anti-hypertension drugs that are widely used in the clinics, can significantly inhibit the post-entry replication events of SARS-CoV-2 in vitro. Comparison with two other major types of anti-hypertension drugs, the angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEI) and angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARB), showed that only CCBs display significant anti-SARS-CoV-2 efficacy. Combined treatment with chloroquine and CCBs significantly enhanced the anti-SARS-CoV-2 efficacy. Retrospective clinical investigation of COVID-19 patients revealed that the CCB amlodipine besylate administration was associated with reduced case fatality rate of patients with hypertension. Results from this study suggest that CCB administration for COVID-19 patients with hypertension as the comorbidity might improve the disease outcome.

PURPOSE@#Although the number of hip arthroscopies is rapidly increasing in non-elderly patients, outcomes of this procedure in middle-aged patients are not well documented or clearly understood. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical and radiological outcomes after hip arthroscopy in middle-aged patients with early osteoarthritis.@*MATERIALS AND METHODS@#This retrospective study analyzed 189 patients with early osteoarthritis of various diagnoses aged 40 years or older who underwent hip arthroscopy between January 2010 and December 2015. Clinical (e.g., modified Harris hip score [mHHS], hip outcome score-activities of daily living [HOS-ADL], visual analogue scale [VAS] for pain, range of motion) and radiological (change of Tönnis grade) outcomes were assessed at a minimum of 3-year follow-up.@*RESULTS@#The mean preoperative and final mHHS and HOS-ADL improved from 61.2 and 60.6 to 79.5 and 81.8, respectively, while the VAS pain score decreased from 6.3 to 3.2 (P<0.001). Although the mean range of internal rotation and flexion increased from 14.2 and 100.7° preoperatively to 30.4 and 110.6° at 1-year postoperatively, they decreased slightly to 27.4 and 105.4° at the final follow-up, respectively. Eight cases (4.2%) underwent revision arthroscopic surgery and three cases (1.6%) were converted to total hip arthroplasty.@*CONCLUSION@#Patients with early-stage osteoarthritis of various diagnoses achieved improved clinical outcomes. Therefore, using hip arthroscopy in middle-aged patients with early osteoarthritis, it is possible to achieve good surgical options.

ABSTRACT

Objective To assess the acute toxicity of Cu2+, Cd2+, Hg2+ and Pb2+ to Oncomelania hupensis. Methods Cu2+, Cd2+, Hg2+ and Pb2+ solutions were prepared at five concentrations, and 10 snails were exposed to each concentration for 24, 48, 72 h and 96 h. Then, the inhibition of snail activity and snail death was observed, and the half maximal effective concentration (EC50) and median lethal concentrations (LC50) were estimated. Results The 24, 48, 72 h and 96 h EC50 values of Cu2+, Cd2+, Hg2+ and Pb2+ were 0.74, 0.56, 0.46, 0.37 mg/L, 4.79, 3.52, 1.70, 1.26 mg/L, 1.90, 1.49, 0.83, 0.76 mg/L and 21.40, 9.98, 7.90, 5.42 mg/L for snails, respectively. The 96 h LC50 values of Cu2+, Cd2+, Hg2+ and Pb2+ were 0.43, 2.96, 1.12 mg/L and 12.22 mg/L for snails, the safe concentrations were 0.004 3, 0.029 6, 0.011 2, 0.122 2 mg/L, respectively. Conclusion Cu2+ shows a high acute toxicity to snails, and Cd2+ and Hg2+ exhibit a moderate acute toxicity to snails, while Pb2+ is lowly toxic to snails.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether the cranial and circumaxillary sutures react differently to maxillary expansion (ME) and alternate maxillary expansions and constrictions (Alt-MEC) in a rat model. Twenty-two male Sprague-Dawley rats (6 weeks old) were used and divided into three groups. In ME group (n=9), an expander was activated for 5 days. In Alt-MEC group (9 animals), an alternate expansion and constriction protocol (5-day expansion and 5-day constriction for one cycle) was conducted for 2.5 cycles (25 days total). The control group comprised 4 animals with no appliances used, each of two sacrificed on day 5 and day 25 respectively. Midpalatal suture expansion or constriction levels were assessed qualitatively and quantitatively by bite-wing X-rays and cast models. Distances between two central incisors and two maxillary first molars were measured on cast models after each activation. Circumaxillary sutures (midpalatal, maxillopalatine, premaxillary, zygomaticotemporal and frontonasal suture) in each group were characterized histologically. Results showed that midpalatal suture was widened and restored after each expansion and constriction. At the end of activation, the widths between both central incisors and first molars in Alt-MEC group were significantly larger than those in ME group (P<0.05). Histologically, all five circumaxillary sutures studied were widened in multiple zones in Alt-MEC group. However, only midpalatal suture was expanded with cellular fibrous tissue filling in ME group. Significant osteoclast hyperplasia was observed in all circumaxillary sutures after alternate expansions and constrictions, but osteoclast count increase was only observed in midpalatal suture in ME group. These results suggested that cranial and circumaxillary sutures were actively reconstructed after Alt-MEC, while only midpalatal suture had active reaction after ME.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To compare the clinical efficacies of endovascular aortic repair(EVAR)and open surgical repair(OSR)for ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm(rAAA).</p><p><b>METHODS</b>The clinical data of 28 rAAA patients undergoing emergent treatment between February 2002 and February 2013 in PUMC Hospital were retrospectively reviewed. Among them 13 cases were treated by EVAR and 15 cases by OSR.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Before the surgery,the general conditions,comorbidities,and hemodynamics were not significantly different between these two groups(all P>0.05),although the EVAR group had significantly higher mean age than OSR group(P=0.041). In the perioperative period,the EVAR group showed significantly lower 30-day mortality(P=0.044),less blood loss(P=0.005),less blood transfusion(P=0.003),less infusion quantity(P=0.000),shorter length of procedure(P=0.001),and shorter hospital stay(P=0.020). Also,the EVAR group had no severe perioperative complications and showed superior 1-year follow up survival(P<0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>EVAR is an effective treatment for rAAA and can improve the clinical outcomes. EVAR may be adopted as the first-line treatment for rAAA,especially for the aged.</p>

ABSTRACT

The majority of studies on idiosyncratic employment arrangements ("i-deals") are based on social exchange theory. The authors suggest that self-enhancement theory, in addition to social exchange, can be used to explain the effects of i-deals. Using a multisource sample including 230 employees and 102 supervisors from 2 Chinese companies, the authors adopt a 3-wave lagged design to examine the mediating roles of social exchange and self-enhancement and the moderating role of individualism in the relationships between i-deals and employee outcomes, as indicated by proactive behaviors and affective commitment. The results of bootstrapping analyses confirm the mediating effects of social exchange and self-enhancement. In addition, employees with high levels of individualism are more receptive to self-enhancement effects; in contrast, employees with low levels of individualism are more receptive to social exchange effects.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this retrospective study was to quantitatively evaluate the treatment effects of intrusion of overerupted maxillary molars using miniscrew implant anchorage and to investigate the apical root resorption after molar intrusion. The subjects included 30 patients whose average ages were 35.5±9.0 years. All patients had received intrusion treatments for overerupted maxillary molars with miniscrew anchorage. There were 38 maxillary first molars and 26 maxillary second molars to be intruded. Two miniscrews were inserted in the buccal and palatal alveolar bone mesial to the overerupted molar. Force of 100-150 g was applied by the elastic chains between screw head and attachment on each side. Lateral cephalograms and panoramic radiographs taken before and after intrusion were used to evaluate dental changes and root resorption of molars. Only 6 of the 128 miniscrews failed. The first and second molars were significantly intruded by averages of 3.4 mm and 3.1 mm respectively (P<0.001). The average intrusion time was more than 6 months. The crown of the molars mesially tilted by averages of 3.1 degrees and 3.3 degrees (P<0.001) for first and second molars. The amounts of root resorption were 0.2-0.4 mm on average. The intrusion treatment of overerupted molars with miniscrew anchorages could be used as an efficient and reliable method to recover lost restoration space for prosthesis. Radiographically speaking, root resorption of molars was not clinically significant after application of intrusive forces of 200 to 300 g.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>BACKGROUND</b>The prevalence of malocclusion in modern population is higher than that in the excavated samples from the ancient times. Presently, the prevalence of juvenile malocclusion in the early stage of permanent teeth is as high as 72.92% in China. This study aimed to observe and evaluate the prevalence and severity of malocclusions in a sample of Xia Dynasty in China, and to compare these findings with the modern Chinese population.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>The material consisted of 38 male and 18 female protohistoric skulls of Xia Dynasty 4000 years ago. Of 86 dental arches, 29 cases had the jaw relationships. Tooth crowding, diastema, individual tooth malposition and malocclusion were studied.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Of the samples, 23.3% showed tooth alignment problems including crowding (8.1%), diastema (9.3%), and individual tooth malposition (5.8%). The prevalence of malocclusion was 27.6%, mainly presented as Angle Class I.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>It is indicated that over thousands of years from Neolithic Age (6000 - 7000 years ago) to Xia Dynasty (4000 years ago), the prevalence of malocclusion did not change significantly. The prevalence of malocclusion of Xia Dynasty samples was much lower than that of modern population.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To observe the changes of blood flow volume in mental artery of dog before and after osteocompression.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>16 adult dogs were selected and the osteocompressors were fixed on the right buccal side of the mandible. The osteocompressor was used to compress the mandible 1.0 mm per 3 days for totally 15 days. On the 1st, 15th, 45th and 90th day after osteocompression, the 4 MHz prober of color Doppler flow imaging machine was put on the surface of the mucosa below which there was the mental artery. The color Doppler flow imaging was used to measure the blood flow volume in the mental artery of both experimental and control sides.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>1) The blood flow value in the mental artery was the lowest on the 15th day after osteocompression, however there was not significantly different before and after osteocompression. 2) Compared with the control, the blood flow value of the mental artery on the 1st day after experiment was significantly decreased. 3) Compared with the data before experiment, the deduction of the blood flow values between experimental side and control on the 1st, 15th and 45th day after osteocompression had significant differences. On the 90th day, the deduction of the blood flow value was similar to normal.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The osteocompression influences blood flow volume in mental artery temporarily, however, the influence is reversible and can be recovered by times after osteocompression.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the morphology characters of upper airway and its surrounding tissues in different age non-snoring males.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Total of 114 non-snoring males, with age-range from 22 to 78 year old, were included in this study. They were divided into 3 groups: 30 in younger group (22-29 years old), 57 in middle-aged group (36-57 years old), and 31 in aged group (70-78 years old). All subjects had magnetic resonance imaging scanning.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>(1) The nasopharynx in aged group was statistically different from that of the younger group and the middle aged group. The volume of nasopharynx in aged group (7.81 +/- 1.59) cm3 (x +/- s, same herein after) is greater than that in younger group (4.89 +/- 1.20) cm3 and middle aged groups (6.06 +/- 2.07) cm3. (2) The AP diameter/transverse diameter of velopharynx, glossopharynx and laryngopharynx in the aged group tended to be smaller. The average value of AP diameter/transverse diameter of velopharynx in aged group is 0.46 +/- 0.14, while the value is 0.59 +/- 0.14 and 0.57 +/- 0.14 in middle and young groups respectively, compared with that of the aged group, there is statistical difference (P < 0.01). Further more, the min/max section area of velopharynx, glossopharynx, laryngopharynx in aged group are smaller than that of young group and midlife groups. (3) The aged group had the thinnest thickness of posterior and lateral velopharyngeal walls, but the largest volume of soft palate and fat pads among all groups.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>In non-snoring males, there is more fat deposition around the upper airway with aging. While the large nasopharynx and large transverse diameter of upper airway seem to balance the disadvantaged changes and to benefit the their sleep respiration.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the ancient teeth helped us to acquaint with the evolution of oral diseases.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Teeth and jaws excavated in Erlitou, Henan province and Youyao, Shanxi province were observed clinically with care. The total specimens included 56 individuals (38 males and 18 females, including 894 permanent teeth and 86 dental arches). The dental caries were observed. The incidence of dental caries was calculated.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The rate of dental caries was 6.9% in 894 observed teeth. The prevalence was 39% among individuals.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>The rate of dental caries in ancient Chinese in Xia Dynasty was lower than that in modem people. There were more caries in elderly people while no sex difference was found in Chinese in Xia Dynasty, which was similar to the situation in modern society. Cervical caries was more common than occlusal caries. The second molars and the third molars were frequently involved, which was different from the phenomenon nowadays.</p>
