ABSTRACT

Determinar el nivel de conocimiento de los estudiantes de enfermería de la Universidad Técnica de Ambato sobre la desinfección terminal del área quirúrgica. Metodología: Esta investigación es cuantitativa, con enfoque descriptivo de cohorte transversal ya que el nivel de conocimiento se ha representado mediante tablas y gráficos para describir la problemática del periodo octubre 2023-febrero 2024. Resultados: Se evidencia el alto porcentaje de respuestas incorrectas por cada ítem por parte de los estudiantes. La categoría desinfección fue respondida de manera incorrecta con un porcentaje del 26%, la categoría proceso de desinfección con el 55,6%, la categoría aplicación del DAN con el 45.8%, la categoría desinfectante del DAN con el 36,2% y, por último, la categoría riesgo y prevención del DAN con el 29,2%. Conclusiones: El nivel de conocimiento de los estudiantes sobre desinfección es bajo, porque no están lo suficientemente motivados o interesados en el tema de desinfección[AU]


Determine the level of knowledge of nursing students at the Technical University of Ambato about terminal disinfection of the surgical area.Methodology:This research is quantitative, with a descriptive cross-sectional cohort approach and the level of knowledge has been represented through tables and graphs to describe the problems of the period October 2023-February 2024.Results:A high percentage of incorrect answers for each item by the students is evident. The disinfection category was answered incorrectly with a percentage of 26%, the disinfection process category with 55.6%, the DAN application category with 45.8%, the disinfectant category with 36.2% and, finally, the DAN risk and prevention category. with 29.2%. ABSTRACT

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) in colorectal cancer (CRC) drive intratumoral heterogeneity and distant metastases. Previous research from our group showed that CSCs can be easily detected by autofluorescence (AF). The aim of the present study was to evaluate the potential role of AF CSCs as a prognostic biomarker for CRC relapse. Seventy-five freshly-resected tumors were analyzed, by flow cytometry. AF was categorized as high (H-AF) or low (L-AF), and results were correlated with histological features (grade of differentiation, presence of metastases in lymph nodes (LN), perivascular and lymphovascular invasion) and clinical variables (time to relapse and overall survival). Nineteen out of 75 (25.3%) patients experienced relapse (local or distant), 13 out of these 19 patients showed positive LNs and 6 patients had H-AF. Of note, 4 of them died before 5 years. While patients with H-AF CSCs percentages in the global population experienced 1.5 times increased relapse -HR 1.47, CI 95% (0.60 - 3.63), patients with H-AF CSC percentages and LN metastases had the highest risk of relapse; HR 7.92, p< 0.004, CI 95% (1.97 - 31.82). These data support AF as an accurate and feasible marker to identify CSCs in resected CRC. A strong statistical association between H-AF CSCs and the risk of relapse was observed, particularly in patients with positive LNs, suggesting that H-AF patients might benefit from adjuvant chemotherapy regimens and intensive surveillance due to their high propensity to experience disease recurrence.

ABSTRACT

Certain aerobic bacteria produce bacterial cellulose (BC) to protect themselves from UV radiation. Inspired by this natural function, the UV-filtering capacity of wet BC film (BC) and dried BC (BC-Dried) is evaluated and it is concluded that both samples hardly filter UVA, but filter UVB to some extent, especially BC-Dried. Moreover, this filtering capacity does not diminish but significantly increases with time, with efficiencies in the 145-160 min time range equal to or greater than most UV filters of the market. This increase in efficiency is due to the fact that the BC structure is modified by prolonged exposure to UVB radiation. Specifically, UVB causes sintering of the cellulose fibers, making the structure denser and increasing its reflection and scattering of UVB radiation. Remarkably, this UVB filtering ability of BC allows it to protect key skin probiotics, Lactobacillus fermentum (L. fermentum) and Cutibacterium acnes (C. acnes), against UVB damage. While the protection of healthy skin microbiota is not currently a regulatory requirement for sunscreens with UV filters, it may become a key differentiator for future UV filters given the increasing evidence on the role of skin microbiota in health.

OBJECTIVE: Evaluate the incidence of Borrelia burgdorferi in cases of equine nuchal bursitis (NB) and investigate the relationship between elevated serum outer surface protein A (OspA) antibodies and the molecular identification of B burgdorferi in bursal tissue or synovial fluid. Additionally, describe clinical cases and compare the histologic changes in NB with and without detection of B burgdorferi. METHODS: This was a retrospective multicenter cohort study (2013 to 2022). Medical records from horses with a diagnosis of NB and B burgdorferi PCR testing on NB tissue or synovial fluid were reviewed. The study population included 11 horses with a postmortem diagnosis of NB, 19 horses from the northeastern US with an antemortem diagnosis of B burgdorferi PCR-positive NB, and 15 healthy controls without evidence of NB and unvaccinated for B burgdorferi. Where serum was available, Lyme multiplex assay results were compared with controls and ELISAs targeting individual B burgdorferi antigens were performed. Histologic findings in nuchal bursa tissue were compared between NB cases with and without B burgdorferi PCR detection. RESULTS: Serum OspA antibody values in B burgdorferi-positive NB cases (n = 13) were significantly elevated (P < .001) compared to controls (15), and OspA was the predominant antigen detected by ELISA (8). Histopathology did not vary between NB cases with (n = 9) and without (6) B burgdorferi PCR detection. CONCLUSIONS: The presence of B burgdorferi in the nuchal bursa of horses is associated with increased serum OspA antibodies. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: The role of B burgdorferi in equine NB may be underestimated, and targeted therapy requires investigation.

ABSTRACT

Blood pressure (BP) is a key contributor to the lifetime risk of preclinical organ damage and cardiovascular disease. Traditional clinic-based BP readings are typically measured infrequently and under standardized/resting conditions and therefore do not capture BP values during normal everyday activity. Therefore, current hypertension guidelines emphasize the importance of incorporating out-of-office BP measurement into strategies for hypertension diagnosis and management. However, conventional home and ambulatory BP monitoring devices use the upper-arm cuff oscillometric method and only provide intermittent BP readings under static conditions or in a limited number of situations. New innovations include technologies for BP estimation based on processing of sensor signals supported by artificial intelligence tools, technologies for remote monitoring, reporting and storage of BP data, and technologies for BP data interpretation and patient interaction designed to improve hypertension management ("digital therapeutics"). The number and volume of data relating to new devices/technologies is increasing rapidly and will continue to grow. This International Society of Hypertension position paper describes the new devices/technologies, presents evidence relating to new BP measurement techniques and related indices, highlights standard for the validation of new devices/technologies, discusses the reliability and utility of novel BP monitoring devices, the association of these metrics with clinical outcomes, and the use of digital therapeutics. It also highlights the challenges and evidence gaps that need to be overcome before these new technologies can be considered as a user-friendly and accurate source of novel BP data to inform clinical hypertension management strategies.

BACKGROUND: There is a paucity of data regarding the impact of cardiac conduction disease (CD) on clinical outcomes in patients with cardiac amyloidosis (CA). METHODS: The National Inpatient Sample (NIS) was queried to identify all CA admissions and those with CD using ICD-10 codes from 2016 to 2019. We explored baseline characteristics and used multivariate logistic regression to assess the association between CD and several clinical outcomes during index admission; a p-value of <0.05 was significant. Propensity score matching (PSM) was performed to validate our results. RESULTS: A total of 12,185 patients with CA were identified. Of these, 920 (7.6 %) had CD. The median age of the sample was 72 years (IQR: 64-80). After multivariate adjustment and PSM, the presence of CD in CA was associated with higher odds of ventricular arrhythmias (VA) (aOR = 2.97, 95 % CI 1.78-4.96, p < 0.001), syncope (aOR = 3.44, 95 % CI 1.51-7.83, p = 0.003), and cardiovascular implantable electronic device (CIED) implantation (aOR = 12.86, 95 % CI 5.50-30.04, p < 0.001) but not with sudden cardiac arrest (p = 0.092), acute heart failure (p = 0.060), all-cause in-hospital mortality (p = 0.384), and non-routine discharge in patients admitted for CA (p = 0.271). CONCLUSIONS: Although CD was not associated with all-cause in-hospital mortality, there was a significant association with VAs and syncope. Syncope is associated with worse survival in patients with CA. Further studies that prospectively follow patients are needed to determine the true effect of cardiac CD on mortality in patients with CA.

ABSTRACT

NGN2-driven induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-to-neuron conversion is a popular method for human neurological disease modeling. In this study, we present a standardized approach for generating neurons utilizing clonal, targeted-engineered iPSC lines with defined reagents. We demonstrate consistent production of excitatory neurons at scale and long-term maintenance for at least 150 days. Temporal omics, electrophysiological, and morphological profiling indicate continued maturation to postnatal-like neurons. Quantitative characterizations through transcriptomic, imaging, and functional assays reveal coordinated actions of multiple pathways that drive neuronal maturation. We also show the expression of disease-related genes in these neurons to demonstrate the relevance of our protocol for modeling neurological disorders. Finally, we demonstrate efficient generation of NGN2-integrated iPSC lines. These workflows, profiling data, and functional characterizations enable the development of reproducible human in vitro models of neurological disorders.

ABSTRACT

Marine plastic pollution poses significant ecological, economic, and social challenges, necessitating innovative detection, management, and mitigation solutions. Spectral imaging and optical remote sensing have proven valuable tools in detecting and characterizing macroplastics in aquatic environments. Despite numerous studies focusing on bands of interest in the shortwave infrared spectrum, the high cost of sensors in this range makes it difficult to mass-produce them for long-term and large-scale applications. Therefore, we present the assessment and transfer of various machine learning models across four datasets to identify the key bands for detecting and classifying the most prevalent plastics in the marine environment within the visible and near-infrared (VNIR) range. Our study uses four different databases ranging from virgin plastics under laboratory conditions to weather plastics under field conditions. We used Sequential Feature Selection (SFS) and Random Forest (RF) models for the optimal band selection. The significance of homogeneous backgrounds for accurate detection is highlighted by a 97 % accuracy, and successful band transfers between datasets (87 %-91 %) suggest the feasibility of a sensor applicable across various scenarios. However, the model transfer requires further training for each specific dataset to achieve optimal accuracy. The results underscore the potential for broader application with continued refinement and expanded training datasets. Our findings provide valuable information for developing compelling and affordable detection sensors to address plastic pollution in coastal areas. This work paves the way towards enhancing the accuracy of marine litter detection and reduction globally, contributing to a sustainable future for our oceans.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Efficient recanalization of occluded cerebral arteries is crucial in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. Double stent retrievers have shown the potential to enhance the rates of recanalization on the first pass. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the double stent retriever technique and the predictors of achieving first-pass effect in patients with acute ischemic stroke. METHODS: This prospective multicenter study involved 209 patients from 16 comprehensive stroke centers in Spain. Patients with occlusions in the anterior circulation were treated using the Aperio Hybrid double stent retriever. The study examined various deployment techniques, including simultaneous and sequential deployment and stent configurations, comparing the Y-shaped and parallel configurations. RESULTS: The double stent retriever technique achieved a first-pass effect in 72.7% of cases and a final successful recanalization rate of 99.5%. The Y-shaped configuration was significantly associated with higher recanalization rates on the first pass (OR 2.59, 95% CI 1.18 to 5.68, P=0.02). Procedural complications were mild to moderate in 6.7% and severe in 1.5% of cases, with symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage occurring in 3.3% of patients. At 3 months follow-up, 57.2% of patients achieved a good clinical outcome, with a mortality rate of 15.1%. CONCLUSION: The findings support the efficacy of the double stent retriever technique, particularly the Y-shaped configuration, in achieving high recanalization rates on the first pass with an acceptable safety profile. This technique may offer clinical benefits for future acute ischemic stroke treatment protocols.

ABSTRACT

This work, carried out within the framework of the BlackCycle project, demonstrates the robustness of an auger reactor for the pyrolysis of end-of-life tires (ELTs) to be considered within the seventh level of technology readiness (TRL-7). For this purpose, the resulting pyrolysis products are compared with those obtained from a pilot scale facility ranging within the fifth technology readiness level (TRL-5). Using the same type of ELTs, tire trucks (TTs), operating conditions used at the TRL-5 plant are attempted to mimic those expected at a semi-industrial plant: tailored temperature profile (450, 550, and 775 °C) and residence time for vapors (30 s) and solids (15 min). The feed mass rate is 4 and 400 kg/h for the pilot and semi-industrial plants, respectively. The yields of tire pyrolysis oil (TPO), tire pyrolysis gas (TPG), and raw recovered carbon black (RRCB) from both plants, as well as their key properties and characteristics, are in good agreement with each other. The TPO produced by both plants contains comparable concentrations of value-added chemicals such as benzene, toluene, xylene, ethylbenzene, and limonene. There is also a very similar pattern between the simulated distillation curves. The TPG obtained from both plants is also very rich in H2 and CH4 and has a lower calorific value of 52-54 MJ/Nm3 (N2 free basis). Although the RRCBs produced by the two plants are more demanding and require more labor, they do have a number of comparable characteristics. All this information demonstrates not only the reliability of the experimental campaigns to scale up the pyrolysis process but also the robustness of the semi-industrial scale plant based on the auger technology to be classified at TRL-7.

Oncocytic renal neoplasms are a major source of diagnostic challenge in genitourinary pathology; however, they are typically nonaggressive in general, raising the question of whether distinguishing different subtypes, including emerging entities, is necessary. Emerging entities recently described include eosinophilic solid and cystic renal cell carcinoma (ESC RCC), low-grade oncocytic tumor (LOT), eosinophilic vacuolated tumor (EVT), and papillary renal neoplasm with reverse polarity (PRNRP). A survey was shared among 65 urologic pathologists using SurveyMonkey.com (Survey Monkey, Santa Clara, CA, USA). De-identified and anonymized respondent data were analyzed. Sixty-three participants completed the survey and contributed to the study. Participants were from Asia (n = 21; 35%), North America (n = 31; 52%), Europe (n = 6; 10%), and Australia (n = 2; 3%). Half encounter oncocytic renal neoplasms that are difficult to classify monthly or more frequently. Most (70%) indicated that there is enough evidence to consider ESC RCC as a distinct entity now, whereas there was less certainty for LOT (27%), EVT (29%), and PRNRP (37%). However, when combining the responses for sufficient evidence currently and likely in the future, LOT and EVT yielded > 70% and > 60% for PRNRP. Most (60%) would not render an outright diagnosis of oncocytoma on needle core biopsy. There was a dichotomy in the routine use of immunohistochemistry (IHC) in the evaluation of oncocytoma (yes = 52%; no = 48%). The most utilized IHC markers included keratin 7 and 20, KIT, AMACR, PAX8, CA9, melan A, succinate dehydrogenase (SDH)B, and fumarate hydratase (FH). Genetic techniques used included TSC1/TSC2/MTOR (67%) or TFE3 (74%) genes and pathways; however, the majority reported using these very rarely. Only 40% have encountered low-grade oncocytic renal neoplasms that are deficient for FH. Increasing experience with the spectrum of oncocytic renal neoplasms will likely yield further insights into the most appropriate work-up, classification, and clinical management for these entities.

Increased expression of the B7 family of immune checkpoint proteins hinders tumor elimination by the immune system. Expression levels of the B7-H5 protein were found to be upregulated in clear cell renal cell carcinomas (ccRCC). We here report the molecular, functional, and clinical characterization of B7-H5 from renal cancer cells and metastatic ccRCC tumors. B7-H5 was highly glycosylated and mainly expressed in the cell membrane. Mutagenic studies on B7-H5 identified the residues targeted by N-glycosylation and revealed an impact of B7-H5 glycosylation on protein expression levels and localization. B7-H5 knockdown decreased the cell proliferation and viability of renal cancer cells. We analyzed B7-H5 expression on tumor cells and tumor-infiltrated leukocytes (TILs) in samples from metastatic ccRCC patients and found that B7-H5 expression on TILs correlated with syncronous metastases and poor outcomes. These results provide insights into the molecular properties and clinical impact of B7-H5 and support B7-H5 as a new immunotherapeutic target in metastatic ccRCC.

Background Hip fracture patients often experience surgical site infections (SSIs) as a major infectious complication after undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA), which can lead to extended hospital stays, increased mortality, and higher healthcare costs. This study aimed to determine the incidence of SSI and identify the risk factors associated with it after THA. Objective This study aimed to explore the correlation between blood transfusion along with other factors and the occurrence of SSIs in postoperative patients who underwent THA for transcervical femoral neck fractures. Methods We conducted a retrospective analysis by reviewing the medical records of patients aged 60-80 years who underwent surgery for hip fractures at the Unidad Médica de Alta Especialidad Hospital de Traumatología y Ortopedia No. 21 in Monterrey, Mexico, between January 2020 and January 2021. We analyzed potential risk factors such as age, sex, transfusion necessity, preoperative hemoglobin levels, history of diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension, and end-stage chronic disease. Data are presented as numbers and percentages, and statistical analyses were performed using IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 28.0 (Released 2021; IBM Corp., Armonk, New York, United States). Results The study included 87 patients, of whom 55 (63%) were women with an average age of 73 years. SSIs were identified in 12 (13.8%) patients. Among those with infections, nine (75%) had a history of blood transfusion (p=0.05). Diabetes, hypertension, and chronic kidney disease also increased the risk for infection. There was no association with gender, age, American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) risk, and preoperative hemoglobin. Conclusions We found a heightened risk of SSI in patients with a history of blood transfusions, emphasizing the need for careful consideration and monitoring during the perioperative period. Additionally, patients with comorbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, and chronic kidney disease were more susceptible to SSI, underscoring the importance of preoperative assessment and targeted preventive measures. Further research and collaboration are needed to refine strategies for mitigating SSI risk factors and optimizing healthcare resource utilization.

Purpose. To evaluate the feasibility of use of an 1.5 T magnetic resonance (MR)-linear accelerator MR-linac for imaging in gynaecologic high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy.Method. Commissioning measurements for MR images quality control, geometric distortion, dwell position accuracy, applicator reconstruction and end-to-end test for a tandem-and-ring applicator were performed following the recommendations of American Brachytherapy Society, International Commission on Radiation Units and Measurements and Report of the Brachytherapy Working Group of the Spanish Society of Medical Physics. The values for MR-based IGABT were compared to the corresponding values with computed tomography (CT).Results. Measured distorsions for the MR images were less than 0.50 mm compared to the CT images. The differences between 3D displacements for all dwell positions were 0.66 mm and 0.62 mm for the tandem and ring, respectively. The maximum difference is 0.64 mm for the distances from the applicator tip obtained using the films. The CT and MR dose differences for the right and left 'A' points were 0.9% and -0.7%, respectively. Similar results were observed in terms of dose distribution for CT and Mr The gamma passing rate was 99.3% and 99.5%, respectively.Conclusion. The use of MR images from an MR-linac used in a radiotherapy service for gynaecological brachytherapy was proved to be feasible, safe and precise as the geometrical differences were less than 1 mm, and the dosimetric differences were less than 1% when comparing to the use of CT images for the same purpose.

ABSTRACT

Platelets are critical mediators of hemostasis and thrombosis. Platelets circulate as discs in their resting form but change shape rapidly upon activation by vascular damage and/or soluble agonists such as thrombin. Platelet shape change is driven by a dynamic remodeling of the actin cytoskeleton. Actin filaments interact with the protein myosin, which is phosphorylated on the myosin light chain (MLC) upon platelet activation. Actin-myosin interactions trigger contraction of the actin cytoskeleton, which drives platelet spreading and contractile force generation. Filamin A (FLNA) is an actin-crosslinking protein that stabilizes the attachment between subcortical actin filaments and the cell membrane. In addition, FLNA binds multiple proteins and serves as a critical intracellular signaling scaffold. Here, we used platelets from mice with a megakaryocyte/platelet-specific deletion of FLNA to investigate the role of FLNA in regulating platelet shape change. Relative to controls, FLNA-null platelets exhibited defects in stress fiber formation, contractile force generation, and MLC phosphorylation in response to thrombin stimulation. Blockade of Rho kinase (ROCK) and protein kinase C (PKC) with the inhibitors Y27632 and bisindolylmaleimide (BIM), respectively, also attenuated MLC phosphorylation; our data further indicate that ROCK and PKC promote MLC phosphorylation through independent pathways. Notably, the activity of both ROCK and PKC was diminished in the FLNA-deficient platelets. We conclude that FLNA regulates thrombin-induced MLC phosphorylation and platelet contraction, in a ROCK- and PKC-dependent manner.

ABSTRACT

Background/Objectives: Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease of the oral mucosa that affects between 0.5% and 2% of the general population. In the last decade, several studies have associated cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) with some inflammatory skin diseases such as oral lichen planus, demonstrating the presence of dyslipidemia in these pathologies. The objective of this work is to review whether patients with OLP show higher dyslipidemia and CRP levels compared to a healthy control population without OLP. Methods: Searches were carried out in Medline, Scopus, and Cochrane. The studies had to perform a histopathological diagnosis for OLP and the patients could not take any medication to treat this disorder. Non-lichenoid reactions were included. Results: After an initial search that provided us with 254 papers, this number was reduced to 10 articles after a detailed evaluation. All of them were case-control studies that compared the presence of analytical cardiovascular risk factors in patients affected by OLP and in healthy subjects. Conclusions: There is no scientific evidence of the possible association between OLP and CVDs. The only association we can prove is the one between OPL and CVD risk factors, especially those related to the lipid profile. More studies are needed in order to evaluate this relationship in patients diagnosed with CVDs.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Catatonia is a rare neuropsychiatric condition; it is estimated that around 10% of patients with mood disorders present signs and symptoms of catatonia. A catatonic syndrome is characterised by mutism, negativism, rigidity, and stupor. CASE REPORT: We report the case of a 59-year-old patient with a medical history of bipolar disorder who was admitted to the internal medicine service due to a seizure episode. During hospitalisation, the patient presented significant worsening of her clinical condition, showing marked symptoms of stupor and catatonia. Once the neurological and metabolic etiologies of altered mental status had been ruled out, pharmacological treatment with high doses of lorazepam was started. The patient had a complete clinical remission, and her evolution was favourable without any complications. Electroconvulsive therapy was recommended as a definitive treatment. CONCLUSIONS: The diagnosis of catatonia is a challenge for both hospitalists and psychiatrists due to the clinical presentation of catatonia. In reporting this clinical case, we want to emphasise the importance of taking into account the catatonic syndrome in our differential diagnoses in patients with altered mental status.

ABSTRACT

This study comparatively evaluated effluent reuse from two TWs-a horizontal subsurface flow (HF) and a vertical subsurface flow (VF)-used for rural wastewater treatment in Central Chile during the initial operation stage. The two TWs were planted with Zantedeschia aethiopica and were operated for 10 months at a pilot scale. The water quality of the influent and effluents was measured and compared with reuse regulations. The results showed similarities in the behavior of the effluents from the two TWs, presenting differences only in the chemical oxygen demand (COD) and different forms of nitrogen, suggesting the necessity of complementary treatment stages or modifications to the operation. The effluents from the HF better fulfilled the reuse standards for irrigation, as the VF faced problems associated with its size. However, a complementary disinfection system is necessary to improve pathogen removal in the effluents coming from the two TWs, especially to be reused as irrigation water for crops. Finally, this work showed the potential for applying subsurface TWs for wastewater treatment in rural areas and reusing their effluents as irrigation water, practice that can contribute to reducing the pressure on water resources in Chile, and that can be used as an example for other countries facing similar problems.

ABSTRACT

SCOPE: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of time-of-day on serum hormones and gene expression in adrenal glands, studying the impact of sex, obesogenic diet, and timing of proanthocyanidins administration, with a focus on glucocorticoids synthesis by this gland. METHODS AND RESULTS: Female and male rats, assigned to a standard chow or a cafeteria diet-fed group, receive a daily oral dose of a grape seed proanthocyanidin extract (GSPE), or a vehicle (when light is turned on, or when light is turned off). Corticosterone, estradiol, and testosterone serum levels, and the expression analysis of clock genes and genes related to corticosterone synthesis pathway, are assessed. Serum hormone levels exhibited a marked time-of-day effect also see in the expression of scavenger receptor class B member 1 (Scarb1) and cyp11b genes. The correlation between these two genes and period circadian regulator 2 (Per2) is also extended to other clock genes, although to a lesser extent: cryptochrome (Cry) and nuclear receptor subfamily 1 group D member 1 (Rev-erba). CONCLUSION: The strong correlations found suggest an important role of local Per2 (but also of Cry and Rev-erbA) in regulating the expression of the enzymes involved in the corticosterone synthesis pathway. The expression of clock genes in adrenals is influenced by sex and diet but not by GSPE.
