ABSTRACT

Noble metal-based metallenes are attracting intensive attention in energy catalysis, but it is still very challenging to precisely control the surface structures of metallenes for higher catalytic properties on account of their intrinsic thermodynamic instability. Herein, the synthesis of tensile-strained holey Pd metallene by oxidative etching is reported using hydrogen peroxide, which exhibits highly enhanced catalytic activity and stability in comparison with normal Pd metallene toward both oxygen reduction reaction and formic acid oxidation. The pre-prepared Pd metallene functions as a catalyst to decompose hydrogen peroxide, and the Pd atoms in amorphous regions of Pd metallene are preferentially removed by the introduced hydrogen peroxide during the etching process. The greatly enhanced ORR activity is mainly determined by the strong electrostatic repulsion between intermediate O* and the dopant O, which balances the adsorption strength of O* on Pd sites, ultimately endowing a weakened adsorption energy of O* on TH-Pd metallene. This work creates a facile and economical strategy to precisely shape metallene-based nanoarchitectures with broad applications for energy systems and sensing devices.

ABSTRACT

Uncontrolled growth of lithium dendrites and huge volume change during the lithium plating/stripping process as well as poor mechanical properties of the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) are key obstacles to the development of a stable Li metal anode. Here, an ultralight Mg3N2-modified carbon foam (CF-Mg3N2) was fabricated as a collector to address these issues. The calculated results show that the CF-Mg3N2 composite is relatively stable in terms of energy. Based on the synergistic effect of the three-dimensional skeleton and the lithiophilic nature of Mg3N2, homogeneous lithium deposition/stripping was realized around the foam carbon skeleton with an extremely low nucleation overpotential (∼9.3 mV) and high retention of Coulombic efficiency (99.3%) as well as long cyclability (700 cycles and 3000 h in half and symmetrical cells, respectively). Meanwhile, Mg3N2-CF@Li//LiFePO4 full cells also showed better rate capability and more stable cycling capability than CF@Li//LiFePO4 and Li//LiFePO4 cells, exhibiting extreme practicality. Accordingly, the design concept mentioned in this work provides a far-reaching influence on the development of a stable Li metal anode.

ABSTRACT

Objectives: To observe the clinical significance of N-terminal natriuretic peptide combined with inflammatory factors, oxidative stress factors and blood lipid detection in elderly patients with Type-2 diabetes complicated with CHD (CHD), and provide a theoretical basis for the diagnosis and treatment of elderly patients with Type-2 diabetes complicated with CHD. Methods: A total of 40 patients with Type-2 diabetes complicated with CHD admitted to Affiliated Hospital of Hebei University from July 2019 and July 2020 were selected as the experimental group, and 40 patients with CHD who were hospitalized in our hospital during the same period without diabetes were selected as the control group. Venous blood was taken from all patients on morning and fasting basis, and their serum inflammatory factors as well as antioxidant molecules were examined respectively. Serum inflammatory factors include serum tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-A), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and C-reactive protein. Antioxidant molecules include antioxidant molecules superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), total antioxidant capacity (TAC), catalase (CAT), glutathione reductase (GR), N-terminal natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), white blood cells (WBC), hemoglobin (HBG), albumin (ALB) and blood lipid levels. The differences of the above indexes between experimental group and control group were compared and analyzed. Results: The serum levels of TNF-a, CRP, and IL-6 in the experimental group were apparently higher than those in the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P=0.00); The levels of SOD, TAC and CAT in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P=0.00); The level of NT-proBNP and WBC count in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group, with a statistically significant difference (NT-proBNP, P=0.01; WBC, P=0.00). However, no statistically significant difference was observed in the levels of HBG and ALB between the two groups (P>0.05). The experimental group had significantly higher TC and TG levels than the control group, with statistically significant differences (TC, P=0.01; TG, P=0.02), but had a significantly lower HDL level than the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P=0.00). Conclusion: Elderly patients with Type-2 diabetes complicated with CHD showed systemic microinflammation, decreased antioxidant molecule content, as well as myocardial damage and abnormal lipid metabolism compared with patients with CHD alone. For this reason, attention should be paid to the above risk factors in clinical practice, and proactive prevention and treatment should be taken to reduce the probability of related complications.

ABSTRACT

The present study was aimed to explore the prognostic value of long noncoding RNA SNHG11 in prostate cancer, study its expression, and assess its effect on tumor progression. One hundred and twenty prostate cancer patients and 45 cases of benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) patients were collected. RT-qPCR was used to test the expression of SNHG11 in prostate cancer and BPH tissues, as well as in cell lines. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and Cox regression assays were introduced to evaluate the prognostic meaning of SNHG11 in prostate cancer. The CCK-8 assays were performed to explore the effect of SNHG11 on prostate cancer cell proliferation, and a Transwell assay was conducted to access the influence of SNHG11 on prostate cancer cell migration and invasion. SNHG11 expression level was upregulated both in prostate cancer tissues and cell lines. Overexpression of SNHG11 was significantly associated with Gleason score, clinical T stage, surgical margin status, and lymph node metastasis. Patients with high SNHG11 expression levels led to a shorter overall survival time and biochemical recurrence-free survival when compared with those of low expression levels. Multivariate Cox regression results suggested that SNHG11 has the potential to act as a prognostic marker for prostate cancer patients. Knockdown of SNHG11 suppressed 22RV1 cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. In conclusion, SNHG11 is upregulated in prostate cancer patients and predicts an unfavorable prognosis for prostate cancer patients. Its knockdown can weaken prostate cancer cell metastasis and growth in vitro.

ABSTRACT

Morphological control of noble-metal-based nanocrystals has attracted enormous attention because their catalytic behaviors can be optimized well by adjusting the size and shape. Herein, the controllable synthesis of web-footed PdCu nanosheets via a facile surfactant-free method is reported. It is discovered that the Cu(II) precursor in this synthetic system displays a critical role in growing branches along the lateral of nanosheets. This work demonstrates a Pd-based alloy nanoarchitecture for efficient and stable electrocatalysis of both ethanal and formic acid oxidation reactions.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the effect of tirofiban injection on vascular endothelial function, cardiac function, inflammatory cytokines and other indicators in patients with acute myocardial infarction after emergency PCI and its clinical significance. METHODS: Eighty patients with acute myocardial infarction admitted to Affiliated Hospital of Hebei University from March 18, 2020 to October 18, 2020 were enrolled and randomly divided into two groups: the experimental group and the control group, with 40 cases in each group. Patients in both groups underwent PCI. Patients in the control group were given oxygen inhalation, monitoring, and basic medications for myocardial infarction, such as nutritional myocardial drugs, statins, aspirin, nitrates, clopidogrel, and ß-blockers. In contrast, patients in the experimental group received tirofiban 10 ug/kg intravenously over 5min immediately before PCI in addition to basic treatment, and then tirofiban 0.1 ug/(kg/min) was pumped via intravenous pump postoperatively for 48 hour. The changes of vascular endothelial function, cardiac function and adverse drug reactions (ADRs) in the two groups before treatment, one week and one month after treatment, as well as changes of inflammatory cytokines such as CRP and IL-6 in the two groups before and after treatment were compared and analyzed. RESULTS: Compared with the control group, FMD, NO, ET-1 and other indexes in the experimental group were significantly improved one week and one month after treatment, with statistically significant differences (p<0.05). BNP, LVEDD, LVEF and additional indexes in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group at one week and one month after treatment, with statistically significant differences (p=0.00). Moreover, the incidence of ST-segment fallback > 70% in the experimental group was 72.5% after treatment, which was significantly better than that of 47.5% in the control group, with a statistically significant difference (p=0.03). CRP and IL-6 in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group after treatment, with a statistically significant difference (p=0.00). There was no statistical significance in the incidence of ADRs between the two groups after treatment (p=0.42). CONCLUSION: Tirofiban injection after emergency PCI is a beneficial treatment regime for patients with STEMI. With such a treatment regime, cardiac function and vascular endothelial function of patients can be dramatically improved, coronary blood supply will be ameliorated, inflammatory cytokines can be reduced, and no significant increase can be seen in the incidence of adverse reactions.

ABSTRACT

Tuning the chemical composition and surface structure of electrodes is demonstrated as a feasible and effective strategy to tailor advanced catalysts for energy electrocatalysis. In this work, hierarchical palladium-silver alloy nanosheets (PdAg NS) with the thickness ~7 atoms and rich atomic defects are successfully prepared, using the carbon monoxide (CO) confinement approach. The optimized Pd7Ag3 NS/C exhibits 8.8 times higher catalytic peak current density and much better stability toward ethanol electrooxidation than Pd NS/C catalyst. The catalytic enhancement mechanism could be attributed to the synergetic effects among optimized electronic structure of Pd, novel architecture, and rich atomic defects.

INTRODUCTION: Previous studies have found that miRNAs play a key role in drug resistance. Multiple reports show that miRNAs act as regulators in colorectal cancer (CRC) cells, but the role of miR-206 in CRC is still not well understood. The current study aimed to explore the potential function of miR-206 in 5-FU resistance. METHODS: To indentify the role of miR-206 in 5-FU resistance, the expression of miR-206 was examined by real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) in 5-FU-resistant (FR) CRC (HCT116/FR and RKO/FR) and their parental cell lines. miR-206 mimic was transfected to 5-FU-FR CRC, and the 5-FU sensitivity was detected by MTS and flow cytometry. Using miRNA target prediction software, we found that miR-206 could target the 3' untranslated region (3'UTR) sequence of Bcl-2. RESULTS: miR-206 was found to be downregulated in 5-FU-FR CRC in comparison with their parental cell lines, suggesting its crucial relevance for colon cancer biology. Downregulation of miR-206 promoted drug resistance and decreased apoptosis of parental cells, while overexpression of miR-206 promoted drug cytotoxicity and apoptosis of HCT116/FR cells. We also identified miR-206 targeting Bcl-2 directly in CRC, which is required for miR-206 mediated-5-FU resistance. CONCLUSION: Our results show that miR-206 targets Bcl-2 to mediate chemoresistance, proliferation, and apoptosis in CRC. This study provides a novel promising candidate for colon cancer therapy.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To assess and compare the two procedures, total thyroidectomy (TT) and partial thyroidectomy (PT), for papillary thyroid cancer in terms of associated injuries, postoperative complication, recurrence rate and survival, so as to provide a reference and basis for surgical procedure option of this disease. METHOD: Strictly specified into the exclusion criteria, the combination of computer retrieval and manual retrieval and retrieval systems such as CNKI, Wang Fan, PubMed, central, CBM database. Total thyroidectomy and partial thyroidectomy for the treatment of patients with thyroid papillary cancer related literature were compared, with the retrieval time until December 31, 2013. RESULT: According to the retrieval strategy 4630 literatures were found, and 20 witch matched the exclusion criteria were left, all were retrospective study. TT and PT group of recurrent laryngeal nerve injury rate are 5.9%, 2.0% respectively [OR = 0.39, 95% CI (0.17 - 0.90), P < 0.05], TT and PT group of parathyroid injury rate are respectively 4.9%, 0.8% respectively [OR = 0.23, 95% CI (0.08 - 0.68), P < 0.01]. The TT group of 10 years survival rate is 95.24% - 100%, and the PT group is 96.8% - 99.2% [OR = 0.03, 95% CI (0 - 0.34), P < 0.01]. Unstaged, unstaged TT group' postoperative recurrence rate is 4.7%, while PT group is 12.6% [OR = 3.21, 95% CI (1.57 - 6.57), P < 0. 01]. Postoperative recurrence of stage I TT group and PT group are 4.9%, 7.8% respectively [OR = 3.82, 95% CI (1. 07-13.66) P < 0.05]; The rate of stage II TT group is 0.5%, while the rate of PT group is 15.9% [OR = 17.23, 95% CI (4.03 - 73.73), P < 0.01]. CONCLUSION: Different methods of primary thyroid papillary carcinoma surgical treatment can all obtaina good survival, but the rate of laryngeal recurrent nerve injury and parathyroid injury caused by partal throidectomy is relatively lower. As a result, partial thyroidectomy can be a good choice for early stage thyroid papillary carcinoma.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the expression of cancer stem cell marker USP22 in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) and clinical implications. METHODS: The expression of USP22 was detected by immunohistochemistry in LSCC tissues of 64 cases and squamous epithelium tissues beside carcinoma of 26 cases (control). The correlation of USP22 expression with various clinicopathologic factors was evaluated with the single factor analysis. RESULTS: The expression levels of USP22 in LSCC and control were 57.8% and 19.2% (P < 0.05). Clinicopathological analysis showed that USP22 expression level had a relationship with clinical stage, T stage, and lymph node metastasis (P < 0.05), but not with gender, age, smoking and differentiation (P > 0.05). Survival analysis showed that patients with high USP22 expression had significantly poorer outcome compared with patients with low USP22 expression. The survival was related to clinical stage, T stage, and lymph node metastasis, but not with age, sex, and smoking (P > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The expression of USP22 is significantly increased in LSCC, which correlates with the malignant degree, invasion, metastasis and prognosis of LSCC. USP22 may be served as a new candidate molecular marker and therapeutic target of LSCC.
