ABSTRACT

Background: Dexmedetomidine is known for its selective action on α2-adrenoceptor sites and is recognized for its neuroprotective capabilities. It can improve postoperative cognitive function. Commonly used anesthetics, such as sevoflurane and propofol, have been reported to affect postoperative cognitive function. Therefore, it could be valuable to explore dexmedetomidine-led anesthesia strategy. This study was designed to assess the performance, safety, and effective infusion rate in anesthesia maintenance, to explore a feasible dexmedetomidine-led anesthesia maintenance protocol, and to provide a foundation for potential combined anesthesia. Methods: Thirty patients aged 18-60 years, classified as ASA I or II, undergoing abdominal surgery were involved. The anesthesia maintenance was achieved with dexmedetomidine, remifentanil and rocuronium. Dixon up-and-down sequential methodology was utilized to ascertain the ED50 of dexmedetomidine for maintaining Patient State Index (PSI) 25-40 (depth of stage III anesthesia). Intraoperative HR, BP and depth of anesthesia were monitored and controlled. The wake-up time from anesthesia, the incidence of intraoperative awareness and postoperative delirium, and the patients' satisfaction were assessed. Results: The results indicated that dexmedetomidine-led anesthesia could maintain the depth of stage III anesthesia during abdominal surgery. The ED50 and ED95 of dexmedetomidine infusion rates during anesthesia maintenance were 2.298 µg/kg·h (95%CI: 2.190-2.404 µg/kg·h) and 3.765 µg/kg·h (95%CI: 3.550-4.050 µg/kg·h). Continuous infusion of dexmedetomidine and 0.1-0.3 µg/kg·min remifentanil could maintain PSI 25-40, and provide appropriate anesthesia depth for abdominal surgery. Perioperative bradycardia and hypertension could be rapidly corrected with atropine and nitroglycerin. The median wake-up time after anesthesia was 4.8 min, the perioperative maximum HR had significant correlation with wake-up time and intraoperative dexmedetomidine dose. No intraoperative awareness and postoperative delirium occurred; the patients were satisfied with dexmedetomidine-led anesthesia. Conclusions: dexmedetomidine-led strategy could maintain stable depth of anesthesia throughout surgery, and the ED50 of dexmedetomidine infusion rates was 2.298 µg/kg·h. Intraoperative HR, BP and depth of anesthesia require monitoring, the bradycardia and hypertension could be rapidly corrected.

ABSTRACT

Eimeria tenella, an obligate intracellular apicomplexan parasite, is the major causative agent of chicken coccidiosis. Some epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like domain-containing proteins of other members of apicomplexan parasites have been reported to contribute to parasite survival. To date, however, EGF-like domain-containing proteins of E. tenella are not well studied. In this study, a gene fragment that encodes 4 EGF-like domains of E. tenella microneme protein 7 (EGF-EtMIC7) was amplified and expressed using an Escherichia coli expression system. Following generation of polyclonal antibodies that recognize recombinant EGF-EtMIC7 (rEGF-EtMIC7), the expression of EtMIC7 in sporozoites and merozoites was examined. Moreover, its roles in cellular regulation were investigated. The native EtMIC7 in E. tenella sporozoites and merozoites was detected by using Western blot and indirect immunofluorescence assays. rEGF-EtMIC7 could activate Akt, whereas blockade of EGF receptor (EGFR) failed to induce Akt phosphorylation. Compared with the control group, LMH cells treated with rEGF-EtMIC7 showed increased cell proliferation and expressed higher levels of B cell leukemia/lymphoma 2 (BCL-2). These findings contribute to the better understanding of parasite-host interactions at the molecular level during E. tenella infection.

ABSTRACT

Hydrogen energy from solar water-splitting is known as an ideal method with which to address the energy crisis and global environmental pollution. Herein, the first-principles calculations are carried out to study the photocatalytic water-splitting performance of single-layer GaInSe3 under biaxial strains from -2% to +2%. Calculations reveal that single-layer GaInSe3 under various biaxial strains has electronic bandgaps ranging from 1.11 to 1.28 eV under biaxial strain from -2% to +2%, as well as a completely separated valence band maximum and conduction band minimum. Meanwhile, the appropriate band edges for water-splitting and visible optical absorption up to ~3 × 105 cm-1 are obtained under biaxial strains from -2% to 0%. More impressively, the solar conversion efficiency of single-layer GaInSe3 under biaxial strains from -2% to 0% reaches over 30%. The OER of unstrained single-layer GaInSe3 can proceed without co-catalysts. These demonstrate that single-layer GaInSe3 is a viable material for solar water-splitting.

ABSTRACT

Background: Dexmedetomidine (DEX) is a sedative with greater preservation of cognitive function, reduced respiratory depression, and improved patient arousability. This study was designed to investigate the performance of DEX during anesthesia induction and to establish an effective DEX induction strategy, which could be valuable for multiple clinical conditions. Methods: Patients undergoing abdominal surgery were involved in this dose-finding trial. Dixon's up-and-down sequential method was employed to determine the effective dose of DEX to achieve the state of "loss of consciousness", and an effective induction strategy was established with continuous infusion of DEX and remifentanil. The effects of DEX on hemodynamics, respiratory state, EEG, and anesthetic depth were monitored and analyzed. Results: Through the strategy mentioned, the depth of surgical anesthesia was successfully achieved by DEX-led anesthesia induction. The ED50 and ED95 of the initial infusion rate of DEX were 0.115 and 0.200 µg/kg/min, respectively, and the mean induction time was 18.3 min. The ED50 and ED95 of DEX to achieve the state of "loss of consciousness" were 2.899 (95% CI: 2.703-3.115) and 5.001 (95% CI: 4.544-5.700) µg/kg, respectively. The mean PSI on the loss of consciousness was 42.8 among the patients. During anesthesia induction, the hemodynamics including BP and HR were stable, and the EEG monitor showed decreased α and ß powers and increased θ and δ in the frontal and pre-frontal cortices of the brain. Conclusion: This study indicated that continuous infusion of combined DEX and remifentanil could be an effective strategy for anesthesia induction. The EEG during the induction was similar to the physiological sleep process.

ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION: Postoperative delirium (POD) is a common cognitive disturbance in elderly individuals that is characterised by acute and fluctuating impairments in attention and awareness. Remimazolam tosylate is a novel, ultrashort-acting benzodiazepine, and there is limited evidence of its correlation with the incidence of early POD. The aim of this study is to evaluate the incidence of POD after anaesthesia induction and maintenance with remimazolam tosylate or propofol in elderly patients undergoing major non-cardiac surgery. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: This is a single-centre, randomised controlled trial. 636 elderly patients undergoing major non-cardiac surgery will be enrolled and randomised at a 1:1 ratio to receive total intravenous anaesthesia with either remimazolam tosylate or propofol. The primary outcome is the incidence of POD within 5 days after surgery. Delirium will be assessed twice daily by the 3 min Diagnostic Interview for the Confusion Assessment Method or the Confusion Assessment Method for the intensive care unit (ICU) for ICU patients. Secondary outcomes are the onset and duration of delirium, cognitive function at discharge and within 1-year postoperatively, postoperative analgesia within 5 days, chronic pain at 3 months, quality of recovery and postoperative inflammatory biomarker levels. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: The study was approved by the institutional ethics committee of the National Cancer Center/National Clinical Research Center for Cancer/Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (approval No. 22/520-3722). Written informed consent will be obtained from each patient before enrolment. The results of this trial will be presented at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed scientific journals. ABSTRACT

With marine pollution issues becoming serious and widespread, a series of coastal environmental managemental policies are being carried out worldwide, the effectiveness of which requires comprehensive evaluation. Taking the Bohai Sea (BS) of China as an example, which has been plagued by serious ecological and environmental issues for decades due to terrestrial pollution discharge, this study explored and quantified, for the first time to our best knowledge, the variability of water quality after initiating a dedicated 3-year pollution control action (Uphill Battle for Integrated Bohai Sea Management, UBIBM, 2018-2020) implemented by China's central government, with two water quality indexes of water color (Forel-Ule index, FUI) and transparency (Secchi disk depth, ZSD, m) from satellite observations. During the UBIBM, a significant improvement in water quality was detected, characterized by a clearer and bluer BS, with ZSD and FUI improved by 14.1% and 3.2%, respectively, compared with the baseline period (2011-2017). In addition, an abrupt drop in the long-term record (2011-2022) of the coverage area of highly turbid waters (ZSD≤2 m or FUI≥8) was found in 2018, which coincided with the start of the UBIBM, indicating that the water quality improvement may be attributed to the pollution alleviation of the UBIBM. Independent data of land-based pollution statistics also supported this deduction. (3) Compared with the previous two pollution control actions in the first decade of 21st century, UBIBM was proved to be the most successful one in terms of the achieved highest transparency and lowest FUI during the past two decades. Reasons for the achievement and implications to future pollution control are discussed for a more sustainable and balanced improvement in the coastal environment. This research provides a valuable example that satellite remote sensing can play a vital role in the management of coastal ecosystems by providing effective evaluation of pollution control actions.

ABSTRACT

A protein of Eimeria tenella (encoded by the locus ETH_00028350) homologous to Toxoplasma gondii dense granule protein 9, designated as EtHGRA9 hereafter, was reported to be expressed in all life cycle stages of E. tenella. However, no data are currently available regarding its functional properties. In the present study, a recombinant vector harboring a 741 bp gene segment encoding the mature form of EtHGRA9 was constructed and transfected into leghorn male hepatoma (LMH) cells. Then, transcriptomic analysis of the transfected LMH cells was carried out by using a high-throughput RNA-seq technology. The LMH cells overexpressing EtHGRA9 was validated by means of Western blotting as well as indirect immunofluorescence staining. The results demonstrated that the expression of 547 genes (275 upregulated genes and 272 downregulated genes) was altered by EtHGRA9. The quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) validation of the ten genes with differential expression between the two groups was consistent with the transcriptome analysis. According to pathway enrichment analysis for the obtained differentially expressed genes, seven pathways were significantly affected by EtHGRA9, such as cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, MAPK signaling pathway, and protein processing in endoplasmic reticulum. Our data reveal several possible roles of EtHGRA9 in immune or inflammatory responses, which paves the way for a better understanding of the molecular interplay between E. tenella and its host.

ABSTRACT

Though genome sequencing of Eimeria tenella predicts more than 8,000 genes, the molecular functions of many proteins remain unknown. In this study, the coding region corresponding to the mature peptide of a hypothetical protein of E. tenella (ETH_00023950) was amplified and expressed in a bacterial system. Following preparation of polyclonal antibody that recognizes ETH_00023950, the expression of ETH_00023950 in merozoites was examined. Meanwhile, we determined the transcriptomic responses of the leghorn male hepatoma (LMH) cells to its expression. Sequencing analysis showed that one single nucleotide polymorphism and one indel of ETH_00023950 of E. tenella SD-01 strain were found compared with that of the UK reference Houghton strain, leading to a frame shift and a premature stop codon. The expression of ETH_00023950 in E. tenella merozoites was confirmed by indirect immunofluorescence and Western blot analysis. Transcriptomic analysis showed that ETH_00023950 altered the expression of 2,680 genes (321 downregulated genes and 2,359 upregulated genes) in LMH cells. The RNA-sequencing data were consistent with the results of the quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analysis revealed that differentially expressed transcripts were significantly related to 8 pathways, including oxidative phosphorylation and TGF-beta signaling pathway. These findings contribute to understanding host-pathogen interaction and secondary bacterial infections related to E. tenella.

BACKGROUND: Sepsis is a common cause of death in emergency departments and sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE) is a major complication. Rosuvastatin may play a neuroprotective role due to its protective effects on the vascular endothelium and its anti-inflammatory functions. Our study aimed to explore the potential protective function of rosuvastatin against SAE. METHODS: Sepsis patients without any neurological dysfunction on admission were prospectively enrolled in the "Rosuvastatin for Sepsis-Associated Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome" study (SAILS trial, ClinicalTrials.gov number: NCT00979121). Patients were divided into rosuvastatin and placebo groups. This is a secondary analysis of the SAILS dataset. Baseline characteristics, therapy outcomes, and adverse drug events were compared between groups. RESULTS: A total of 86 patients were eligible for our study. Of these patients, 51 were treated with rosuvastatin. There were significantly fewer cases of SAE in the rosuvastatin group than in the placebo group (32.1% vs. 57.1%, P=0.028). However, creatine kinase levels were significantly higher in the rosuvastatin group than in the placebo group (233 [22-689] U/L vs. 79 [12-206] U/L, P=0.034). CONCLUSION: Rosuvastatin appears to have a protective role against SAE but may result in a higher incidence of adverse events.

ABSTRACT

Though a number of Eimeria tenella rhoptry kinase family proteins have been identified, little is known about their molecular functions. In the present study, the gene fragment encoding the matured peptide of E. tenella rhoptry kinase family protein 17 (EtROP17) was used to construct a recombinant vector, followed by transfection into leghorn male hepatoma (LMH) cells. Then, the transcriptional changes in the transfected cells were determined by RNA-seq. The expression of EtROP17 in LMH cells was validated by both Western blot and indirect immunofluorescence analysis. Our analysis showed that EtROP17 altered the expression of 309 genes (114 downregulated genes and 195 upregulated genes) in LMH cells. The quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) results of the selected differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were consistent with the RNA-seq data. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis showed that DEGs were significantly enriched in nine pathways, such as toll-like receptor signaling pathway, ECM-receptor interaction, intestinal immune network for IgA production and focal adhesion. These findings reveal several potential roles of EtROP17, which contribute to understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying the host-parasite interplay.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has crucially influenced anthropogenic activities, which in turn impacts upon the environment. In this study, we investigated the variations on aerosol optical depth (AOD) at 550 nm over the Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea during the COVID-19 lockdown (from February to March in 2020) of China mainland based on Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) observation by comparing with historical AOD records (2011-2019). Our results show that with the lockdown implementation, the decade-low AOD levels are achieved in February and March 2020 (0.39 ± 0.18 and 0.37 ± 0.19, respectively), which are 22% and 28% (p < 0.01) lower than the average AOD between 2011 and 2019 (0.50 ± 0.08 and 0.52 ± 0.05, respectively). After the lockdown restrictions were relaxed and industrial production gradually resumed, the AOD in April 2020 rebounded to the historical average level. Besides, compared with historical observations (2011-2019), the AOD temporal variability from February to April 2020 showed different pattern, with the decade-high increase from March to April (+0.11) and decade-low increase from February to March (-0.01). Independent observations and simulation, including fine particulate matter (PM2.5) from ground-based measurements, wind field from Cross-Calibrated Multi-Platform, satellite-derived aerosol type, and back trajectories calculation by Hybird Single Paricle Lagrangian Intergrated Trajectory (HYSPLIT) model, indicated that the above abnormal AOD variation can be attributed to reduction of anthropogenic emissions during the COVID-19 lockdown period. The results of this paper, therefore, indicate that aerosols over the Bohai and Yellow Seas are strongly influenced by human activities, and the public health events such as the epidemic may alter the intensity of human activities and thus the spatio-temporal pattern of aerosol over ocean. With the global spread of the epidemic and the corresponding significant changes in human behavior patterns (restrictions on human activities, etc.), more studies should be carried out in the future about the aerosol variability and its potential impact on the marine environment.

ABSTRACT

In recent years, methyl formate has received considerable attention as an ideal and green C1 building block to synthesize carboxylic esters. However, examples of a one-step route to esters with one-carbon elongation using methyl formate as a source of methoxycarbonyl radical are still rare. Herein, we present peroxide-induced radical carbonylation of N-(2-methylallyl)benzamides with methyl formate as the precursor of methoxycarbonyl radical and RuCl3 as catalyst, affording a series of biologically valuable 4-[(methoxycarbonyl)methyl]-3,4-dihydroisoquinolinones with good tolerance and insensitivity to moisture in one pot under simple and mild conditions.

BACKGROUND: A national standardized emergency medicine (EM) curriculum for medical students, including specific competencies in procedural skills, are absent in many countries. The development of an intensive simulating training program in EM, based on a tight schedule, is anticipated to enhance the competency of medical students. METHODS: A 3-day intensive EM training program, consisting of four procedural skills and 8-hour case-based learning (CBL), was developed by experienced physicians from the EM department in Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH). Medical students from Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) and Tsinghua University (THU) participated in the training. Three written tests were cautiously designed to examine the short-term (immediately after the program) and long-term (6 months after the program) efficacy of the training. After completion of the training program, an online personal appraisal questionnaire was distributed to the students on WeChat (a mobile messaging App commonly used in China) to achieve anonymous self-evaluation. RESULTS: Ninety-seven out of 101 students completed the intensive training and took all required tests. There was a significant increase in the average score after the intensive simulating training program (pre-training 13.84 vs. 15.57 post-training, P<0.001). Compared with the pre-training test, 63 (64.9%) students made progress. There was no significant difference in scores between the tests taken immediately after the program and 6 months later (15.57±2.22 vs. 15.38±2.37, P=0.157). Students rated a higher score in all diseases and procedural skills, and felt that their learning was fruitful. CONCLUSIONS: The introduction of a standardized intensive training program in EM focusing on key competencies can improve clinical confidence, knowledge, and skills of medical students toward the specialty. In addition, having such a program can also enhance student's interest in EM as a career choice which may enhance recruitment into the specialty and workplace planning.

ABSTRACT

Actin cytoskeleton dynamic rearrangement is required for tumor cell metastasis and is a key characteristic of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)-infected host cells. Actin cytoskeleton modulation is coordinated by multiple actin-binding proteins (ABP). Through Kyoto encyclopedia of gene and genomes database, GEPIA website, and real-time PCR data, we found that H. pylori infection significantly induced L-plastin, a key ABP, in gastric cancer cells. We further explored the regulation and function of L-plastin in H. pylori-associated gastric cancer and found that, mechanistically, H. pylori infection induced gastric cancer cells to express L-plastin via cagA-activated ERK signaling pathway to mediate SP1 binding to L-plastin promoter. Moreover, this increased L-plastin promoted gastric cancer cell proliferation and migration in vitro and facilitated the growth and metastasis of gastric cancer in vivo. Finally, we detected the expression pattern of L-plastin in gastric cancer tissues, and found that L-plastin was increased in gastric cancer tissues and that this increase of L-plastin positively correlated with cagA + H. pylori infection status. Overall, our results elucidate a novel mechanism of L-plastin expression induced by H. pylori, and a new function of L-plastin-facilitated growth and metastasis of gastric cancer, and thereby implicating L-plastin as a potential therapeutic target against gastric cancer. IMPLICATIONS: Our results elucidate a novel mechanism of L-plastin expression induced by H. pylori in gastric cancer, and a new function of L-plastin-facilitated gastric cancer growth and metastasis, implicating L-plastin as a potential therapeutic target against gastric cancer.

ABSTRACT

Recent studies have shown that Nogo-A and the Nogo-A receptor affect ß-amyloid metabolism and the downstream Rho GTP enzyme signaling pathway, which may affect the levels of ß-amyloid and tau. Nogo-A may play a key role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms of Fasudil treatment in Alzheimer's disease are not yet clear. Our results have found that Fasudil treatment for two months substantially ameliorated behavioral deficits, diminished ß-amyloid plaque and tau protein pathology, and alleviated neuronal apoptosis in APP/PS1 transgenic mice. More importantly, two well-established markers for synaptic function, growth-associated protein 43 and synaptophysin, were upregulated after Fasudil treatment. Finally, the levels of Nogo-A, Nogo-A receptor complex NgR/p75NTR/LINGO-1 and the downstream Rho/Rho kinase signaling pathway were significantly reduced. These findings suggest that Fasudil exerts its neuroprotective function in Alzheimer's disease by inhibiting the Nogo-A/NgR1/RhoA signaling pathway.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: To evaluate the feasibility and safety of a new surgical method, complete laparoscopic extended right hemicolectomy with preservation of the ileocecal junction in right-transverse colon cancer. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed and compared the data of consecutive patients with right-transverse colon cancer who underwent complete laparoscopic extended right hemicolectomy with preservation of the ileocecal junction (n = 23) and conventional complete laparoscopic extended right hemicolectomy (n = 34) in our hospital between October 2017 to May 2019, respectively. RESULTS: The overall operation time of the ileocecal junction-preserved group was significantly shorter than that of the control group (p = 0.048). There was no difference in the number of harvested lymph nodes, metastatic lymph nodes, and rate of metastatic lymph nodes (p > 0.05). The ileocecal junction-preserved group showed shorter time of first flatus, lower frequency of postoperative diarrhea, and shorter duration of postoperative hospitalization. Furthermore, it also showed that the defecation frequency was lower in the ileocecal junction-preserved group than the control group on the 1st, 3rd, and 6th month (p < 0.05), and the number of patients who defecated at night or defecated four times or more a day was less in the ileocecal junction-preserved group than control group on the 1st month (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The complete laparoscopic extended right hemicolectomy with preservation of the ileocecal junction promises as a safe and feasible surgical procedure for right-transverse colon cancer, associated with earlier recovery of bowel function, shorter operation time, and similar pathological outcomes when compared to the conventional laparoscopic procedure.

ABSTRACT

In this study, metabolomics and proteomics were employed to investigate the change mechanism of nonvolatile compounds during white tea processing. A total of 99 nonvolatile compounds were identified, among which the contents of 13 free amino acids, caffeine, theaflavins, 7 nucleosides and nucleotides, and 5 flavone glycosides increased significantly, while the contents of theanine, catechins, theasinesins, 3 proanthocyanidins, and phenolic acids decreased significantly during the withering period. The results of proteomics indicated that the degradation of proteins accounted for the increase in free amino acid levels; the weakened biosynthesis, in addition to oxidation, also contributed to the decrease in flavonoid levels; the degradation of ribonucleic acids contributed to the increase in nucleoside and nucleotide levels during the withering period. In addition, the drying process was found to slightly promote the formation of white tea taste. Our study provides a novel characterization of white tea taste formation during processing.

ABSTRACT

Previous studies have shown multiple mechanisms and pathophysiological changes after anesthesia, and genome-wide studies have been implemented in the studies of brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases. However, the genome-wide gene expression patterns and modulation networks after general anesthesia remains to be elucidated. Therefore, whole transcriptome microarray analysis was used to explore the coding gene expression patterns in the hippocampus of aged rats after sevoflurane anesthesia. Six hundred and thirty one upregulated and 183 downregulated genes were screened out, then 44 enriched terms of biological process, 16 of molecular function and 18 of the cellular components were identified by Gene Ontology (GO) and KEGG analysis. Among them, oxidative stress, metabolism, aging, and neurodegeneration were the most enriched biological processes and changed functions. Thus, involved genes of these processes were selected for qPCR verification and a good consistency was confirmed. The potential signaling pathways were further constructed including mitochondrion and oxidative stress-related Hifs-Prkcd-Akt-Nfe2l2-Sod1 signaling, multiple metabolism signaling (Scd2, Scap-Hmgcs2, Aldh18a1-Glul and Igf1r), as well as aging and neurodegeneration related signaling (Spidr-Ercc4-Cdkn1a-Pmaip1 and Map1lc3b). These results provide potential therapeutic gene targets for brain function modulation and memory formation process after inhaled anesthesia in the elderly, which could be valuable for preventing postoperative brain disorders and diseases, such as perioperative neurocognitive disorders (PND), from the genetic level in the future.

ABSTRACT

A spaceborne limb hyperspectral imager for ozone detection is designed and developed. The hyperspectral imager can provide the limb hyperspectral radiances images with wide-band and large dynamic range. It is composed of an off-axis parabolic telescope and prism dispersive off-axis aspheric spectrometer, and large dynamic range detection can be realized by using a band-attenuation filter. The spectral range is from 280nm to 1000nm, the field of view is 2.4° (limb vertical direction) × 0.02° (horizontal direction), and the focal length is 69mm. The design results meet the requirements of image quality and have the characteristics of small volume and light weight, thereby making it especially suitable for the application of space remote sensing unlike existing methods that utilize complicated scanning mirror and multiple color separators. The limb hyperspectral imager is measured and calibrated on ground. It detected limb hyperspectral radiances on Tiangong-2 spacecraft of China.

ABSTRACT

The formation of and dynamic changes in aroma during white tea processing have not previously been systematically investigated. In this study, advanced comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography-time-of-flight mass spectrometry was employed to investigate the mechanism of white tea aroma formation. A total of 172 volatiles were identified and mainly comprising endogenous volatiles, which displayed diverse change trends during the withering period. In this process, free aroma precursor amino acids and glycosidically bound volatiles (GBVs) were found to contribute to the formation of white tea aroma, with the differential expression of aroma-related key genes accounting for various accumulation of endogenous volatiles and GBVs. In addition, the drying was also shown to play an important role in the formation of white tea aroma. Our study provides the first characterization of white tea aroma formation and establishes a theoretical basis for quality control during white tea processing operations.
