ABSTRACT

The results of examining the hematoophthalmic barrier permeability by radiometry and biotests with anterior chamber and vitreous humor are analyzed. Injection of the radiopharmaceutical into the vorticose veins provides the most effective pharmacokinetics, vs. suprachoroidal and subconjunctival injections. In toxis allergic uveitis the penetration of radiopharmaceuticals into the internal media of the eye (anterior chamber humor and vitreous body) is intensified, and dexason therapy of an inflammatory process in the vascular coating reduces this penetration.

ABSTRACT

The paper describes results after calculating the distribution of tensions in the cornea in case of anomalies in the action and insertion of oculomotor muscles. The calculation was made on the basis of theories of thin coats considering the gradient of corneal thickness. By the results of the calculation, the lines of equal tensions (isochroms) were built, the forms of which is well correlated with clinical results. The calculation has shown that the rounding of one of the angles of interference rhombus and its displacement towards the centre of the picture speak about either a functional deficiency of a muscle inserted into the eye ball in this place or about displacement of the point of its insertion from the limbus along the meridian of its action; displacement of one the angles of interference rhombus from the meridian speaks about displacement of the point of efforts exertion of the corresponding muscle into the same direction. The calculation made confirms correctness of our knowledge about the nature and properties of interference pictures observed on the cornea in a polarised light.

ABSTRACT

The paper describes results after surgical treatment of 17 eyes with uveal glaucoma. Since conservative treatment could not achieve normalization of intraocular pressure, the following surgical interventions were made; peripheral intralamellar iridencleisis (7 eyes), sinusotrabeculectomy with basal iridectomy (4 eyes), iridocycloretraction (2 eyes), diathermocoagulation of the ciliary body (2 eyes), drainage by a silicon tube (2 eyes). Surgical complications were hyphema in 2 eyes, injury of the lens capsule in 1 eye; in 4 eyes a slight aggravation of the uveal process after the surgery was arrested by antiinflammatory therapy. Intraocular pressure normalized in 15 eyes. Visual functions increased in patients with early diagnosed and operated glaucoma; in far-advanced cases the operation removed pains, but no functional effect was achieved.

ABSTRACT

The paper describes positive results after treatment of 15 patients with severe forms of uveitis by means of administering preparations into the portal vein of the eye. The method was substantiated by a series of experimental investigations. The treatment of patients with uveitis was prescribed when common therapy within a week and in some cases--a month after beginning of treatment proved to be ineffective. In 8 eyes with endogenous uveitis visual acuity rose from 0.06 +/- 0.4 at admission to 0.28 +/- 0.7 at discharge. In 4 patients with supposed enucleation of the eye the proposed method allowed to stop the inflammatory process. This method permitted to shorten the term of the patients stay at the hospital by 6.8 days. No complications during the treatment of recurrences in remote period were recorded.

ABSTRACT

The paper analyses effectiveness of surgical treatment on occasion of progressive myopia in 96 children (180 eyes), aged from 5 to 14 years, depending on the patient's age, the form of myopia (congenital, acquired). Scleroplasty was made after the method of N. N. Pivovarov et al. Remote results, from 1 to 1.5 years, have shown stabilization of myopia in 90% of cases. Absolute and relative indications to surgical treatment of myopia are shown. The necessity of further studying of the mechanism and effectiveness of scleroplasty in children is substantiated.

ABSTRACT

The paper analyses results of conservative and surgical treatment of 65 patients (83 eyes) with peripheral uveitis. For treatment complex therapy was used, including corticosteroids, agents of desensitizing action, antibiotics, enzymes. In a severe course of the process, suprachoroidal irrigations were made by means of corticosteroids, antibiotics, cytostatics. In recurrent peripheral uveitis, for the purpose to block the process, aimed and limiting argon laser coagulation of peripheral foci was used and in case of neovascularization--aimed coagulation of the new-formed vessels. Total stoppage of the inflammatory process with the absence of recurrences within 3 years was achieved in 45 eyes (54.2%). Visible clinical improvement with suppression of inflammation, reduction of the sizes of exudative depositions and active inflammatory foci, tendency to their cicatrization were recorded in 31 eyes (37.4%). In 7 eyes (8.4%) the therapeutic effect was absent.
