ABSTRACT

There was made an evaluation of efficacy activities Glaxo's Company drug-Fortum among patients in whom during the post-operative course or during pregnancy were heavy life-threatening infections. Fortum drug was administered in 12 from 13 patients as a second course after the minimal period of 4th days of using antibiotics first course. In one causes Fortum drug was administered immediately after instrumental delivery. In all causes Fortum drug appeared efficacious and its administration in heavy infections caused in obstetrics and gynecology seems to be reasonable.

ABSTRACT

The authors estimated the effects of combined operative and hormonal therapy in 23 women suffering from ovarian endometrial cysts. In the therapy the authors used Danazol. The authors concluded that removal of an ovarian endometrial cyst combined with 6-th month Danazol therapy prevents recurrence of endometriosis and in some women restores fertility.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To assess the occurrence of hemostatic disturbances in patients with intrauterine fetal death (IFD). METHOD: The occurrence of abnormal results of hemostatic variables and of bleeding complications was noted from the medical records of 41 patients with IFD, 6 of whom had a multiple pregnancy. RESULT: Apart from the increased platelet count, results of blood coagulation tests in all except one patient with IFD did not differ from normal values. This patient, who had a twin pregnancy with one dead fetus, had an increase in fibrin degradation products and fibrin monomers 4 weeks after IFD and fibrinogenopenia and thrombocytopenia 2 weeks later. CONCLUSION: The deterioration of systemic hemostasis in women with IFD is rare and only occurs after 4 weeks of dead fetus retention; the main signs of this deterioration are fibrinogenopenia and thrombocytopenia.

ABSTRACT

Use of propranolol in the treatment of hyperthyreosis in pregnant women is discussed. It was noted, that propranolol given for 24-28 days in low doses, starting from the 34th-35th week of pregnancy, and in higher doses during 5 or 2 days preceding labour diminishes clinical symptoms of hyperthyreosis. It influences thyreotropic hormone levels. No side effects were seen in neonates of mothers treated with propranolol; thyreotrophic hormone levels were within normal values.

ABSTRACT

Ten pregnant women with hypothyroidism and 10 newborns born to these women were studied. In 3 pregnant women the infantile and juvenile type of hypothyroidism were diagnosed. In 6 women hypothyroidism resulted from partial or total thyroidectomy (for toxic goitre or papillary carcinoma), and in one it was a result of Hashimoto's thyroiditis. In all studied women the serum levels were determined of thyrotropin (TSH), thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). The pregnant patients were treated with thyroid hormones such as L-thyroxine or thyroidin. All newborns of these women were evaluated clinically and the levels of TSH, T4 and T3 were determined in them.

ABSTRACT

The authors analysed perinatal mortality and the condition of 32 newborns of 30 pregnant women with a severe form of gestosis EPH, who did not react to therapy. In all the women the pregnancy was terminated prematurely between 29th and 37th week (not later than 7 days admission to hospital) because of threat to the fetus, threat to the pregnant woman due to renal failure or threat both to the fetus and the woman. In spite of the fact that the newborns had a lower birth weight in comparison with newborns born in the previous years, the above procedure led to the sixfold reduction of perinatal mortality. Fetal hypotrophia amounted to 43% and was ten times higher than in general population.

ABSTRACT

PIP: Pregnancy tests with the Neo-Prognosticon kit Organon were done in 113 cases and it was found that the test was accurate in 90% of early pregnancy cases. In menstruation disorders caused by other pathological factors in the genital tract, negative results were obtained in all cases. In the diagnosis of extrauterine pregnancy, the results were false negative in only 1 of 16 cases. The other results agreed with the clinical condition of the observed patients.
