Sanitation of territories polluted with oil products is possible and quite effective through biodestructor produced in Russia on the basis of nonpathogenic yeast lines. Oil content of the soil lowers by 60-78%. Self-clearance of the soil is preserved, toxicity level of the soil does not increase.

The research has shown that in calculation of the permissible load of a water body all compounds should be taken into account whatever their harmful limit indicator. Total loading coefficient at a level below I in all cases does not guarantee a negative influence on auto-purification process.

Self-purification ability of water reservoirs is determined by a complex of indices: ratio of 5-day biochemical consumption of oxygen to full consumption of oxygen; chemical consumption of oxygen, content of dissolved oxygen; ratio of lactose-positive to faecal coli; total specific loading on the water object. Complex assessment of the intensity of self-purification makes it possible to characterize the process as sufficient, insufficient, low, very low.

Data on the study of the influence of the combined action of chemicals on the intensity of odour is presented (ethyl alcohol, ammonium solution and acetic acid). It has been established that under the combined action of chemicals on the odour intensity summation and potentiation principles are observed significantly less frequently, that antagonism principles. The technique of the assessment of the odour intensity through the comparison with the odour of the solution of the standard scale was used, which increased the accuracy of estimations compared to that obtained with the help of the commonly used technique.

When hardness of water is less than 2.2 mg-eq/l the concentration of arsenic of 0.05 mg/l and aluminum of 0.5 mg/l are regarded as threshold. Subthreshold levels do not exceed 0.01 and 0.1 mg/l, respectively. Silicon concentration of 25 mg/l is absolutely safe when using water with hardness of less than 2.5 mg-eq/l.
