ABSTRACT
En este trabajo se comenta acerca del uso y abuso de las prostaglandinas, que forman parte de los llamados agentes autacoides u hormonas locales, así como de sus mecanismos de acción, biosíntesis, metabolismo, acciones farmacológicas, usos clínicos, vías de administración y reacciones adversas. Igualmente, se plantea que las prostaglandinas tienen efectos bien conocidos sobre el músculo liso y las plaquetas, y que actúan sobre otros importantes sistemas, como el digestivo, el reproductor y el nervioso central, y en las terminaciones nerviosas posganglionares autonómicas, las terminaciones nerviosas sensoriales, los órganos endocrinos y el tejido adiposo(AU)
In this work it is commented about the use and abuse of prostaglandins which form part of the so called autacoid agents or local hormones, as well as of their action mechanisms, biosynthesis, metabolism, pharmacological actions, clinical uses, administration schedules and adverse reactions. Likewise, it is stated that prostaglandins have very well-known effects on the smooth muscle and the platelets, and they act on other important systems, such as the digestive, reproductive and the nervous systems, and in the nervous autonomous posganglionar endings, the sensorial nerves endings, the endocrine organs and the fatty tissue(AU)
