ABSTRACT

Clinical efficacy of including cycloferon liniment in combined treatment of herpetic infection in a group of 40 patients with atopic dermatitis has been analyzed. It is concluded that the administration of cycloferon favors dynamic disappearance of general infectious syndrome, reduces timeline of rash as well as length of local inflammation, accelerates epithelization of erosions (on the average 1.2 - 1.4 times, p < 0.05), decreases frequency of recurrent infections, and reduces the level of pro-inflammatory cytokines in the blood of patients.

ABSTRACT

Comparative study of efficacy of the official therapy of acute gastro-intestinal infections (65 patients) and a complex therapy using a succinic acid derivative reamberin (71 patients) has been carried out. It is established that the introduction of reamberin into infusion therapy in patients with acute gastro-intestinal infections leads to a faster reduction of basic symptoms of intoxication and gastroenteritis, normalization of leukocyte intoxication index, and correction of basic indices of thrombocytes aggregation. These results allow reamberin 1.5% infusion to be recommended for the treatment of patients with acute gastro-intestinal infections.

ABSTRACT

There is represented the current classification of interferon inducers of various chemical groups related to antiviral agents, described the mechanisms of synthesis of different types of endogenous interferon in blood serum. The effectiveness of methylglucamine acridonacetates in integrated treatment of chronic hepatitis C, tuberculosis with HIV infection background, chronic brucellosis, arboviral diseases, including West Nile fever, as well as influenza and acute respiratory infections are shown. For successful treatment of acute and chronic diseases with endogenous interferon inducers should be applied as early as possible, at an average level of viremia , to enhance the effect of drugs with the directed etiotropic action and immunomodulators, which achieves the optimal pharmacotherapeutic effect.

ABSTRACT

Comparative placebo-controlled study entrolled 647 patients with verified diagnosis of chronic virus hepatitis B (HBeAg+), not previously subjected to antiviral therapy (with nucleotide analogues or interferons). The drug under the investigation was cycloferon, an earlier interferon inductor. The antiviral combination therapy of the main group patients (323 subjects) included the use of cycloferon + lamivudine for 48 weeks and the therapy of the control group patients (324 subjects) included the use of lamivudine + placebo for 48 weeks. The cycloferon and lamividine combination antiviral therapy was shown preferable vs. the lamivudine + placebo therapy by biochemical remission, virusological response, seroconversion by HBeAg by the 48th week of the treatment and HBsAg clearance. The conbination therapy provided lower frequency of the relapses within 24 weeks of the observation. The higher efficacy of the antiviral combination therapy was evident of the impact of the antiviral activity of cycloferon itself and its immunomodulating and interferon-inducing activity on elimination of the virus-infected hepatocytes. The use of the 48-week course of the antiviral combination therapy is advisable as the prime treatment in the management of patients with HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis not previously treated with nucleoside analogues and as a variant of therapy for lamivudine-refractory patients.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To evaluate the preventive efficacy of the Russian antiviral drug ingavirin (vitaglutam) in the epidemiological foci with the peak incidence of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI). SUBJECTS AND METHODS: Four hundred men and women aged 18 to 65 years from the epidemic foci of ARVI who had been in close daily contact with the patients whose diagnosis was verified by laboratory tests were examined. Two hundred persons received prophylaxis with ingavirin (a 90-mg oral capsule once daily for 7 days) and 200 took placebo according to the same scheme. The efficiency index and coefficient were calculated and the relative risk of the disease was estimated to evaluate the efficiency of ARVI prevention. A pharmacoeconomic analysis was made. RESULTS: There is evidence that the administration of 90-mg ingavirin capsules (OAO "Valenta Farm", Russia) caused a reduction in morbidity rates among those who had been in contact by 63% and in the risk of ARVI by 2.7 times. There was a reduction in the duration of fever by one day and a milder course of respiratory disease in the ingavirin-treated contact persons who developed ARVI. CONCLUSION: Ingavirin meets all requirements for current drugs for the nonspecific prevention of ARVI at the peak of its incidence. It has a pronounced protective effect and broad-spectrum activity, low toxicity and high safety, which allows it to be recommended for the emergency intrafocal prevention at the peak of the incidence of influenza and ARVI in adults.

ABSTRACT

There is a tendency to increase the role of education process in the life of the individual, caused by necessity of new knowledge, experience and skills, which is the effective measure to adapt human being to the current social and economic conditions. The idea of education as a relatively short period of life is gone. It becomes obvious, that use of forms and types of adult education becomes limited and inefficient. The development of the modern education system involves training with a high level of independence and leadership of the individual student; provision by vocational education institutions a wide range of educational services; adequate to the needs of the labor market; variability of methods and forms of education; active use of the modern educational technology as one of the most convenient ways of training.

ABSTRACT

The efficiency of cycloferon liniment in combined treatment of herpetic infection in patients with latent form of HIV infection has been assess by observations of 40 patients divided into two groups. In the first group, the standard treatment was supplemented with the application of cycloferon liniment twice a day during 7 days; in the second group, the therapy was conducted according to standard recommendations. It was established that the application of cycloferon liniment in combination with standard therapy in patients with relapse of herpetic infection against the background of HIV infection ensures faster disappearance of general infectious syndrome, decreases the period of eruptions and the duration of local inflammations, and accelerates the epithelialization of erosions.

ABSTRACT

The article presents the results of urological examination (spermograms and data of ultrasound examination) of 22 patients with chronic brucellosis and diseases of the scrotum (6 patients with orchitis, 16 with orchiepididymitis) before and after conventional therapy (10 patients) and combined treatment with the inclusion of cycloferon (2 courses of 5 intramuscular injection [0.25 g] with an interval of 10 days)--12 patients. It is shown that the administration of cycloferon leads to more effective relief of intoxication symptoms and inflammation in the testes and appendages (reduction of scrotal wall thickness, size of testes and/or adjuncts, and the incidence and severity of hydrocele), and has a positive effect on spermatogenesis (reduction of semen viscosity, the number of white blood cells in semen, sperm agglutination associated with the formation of sperm antibodies in most patients after treatment), as well as reduces the number of exacerbations of chronic orchitis/orchiepididymitis by 2.4 times.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To assess efficacy and safety of ingavirin in the treatment of the flu caused by pandemic virus of flu A (H1N1) sw1 in hospitalized patients compared with oseltamivir. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A population-based comparative multicenter trial included 194 patients with verified diagnosis of the flu aged 18-60 years with marked clinical symptoms, body temperature over 38 degrees C and duration of the disease 48 hours maximum. The patients were randomized into 2 groups: group 1 (n=152) received ingavirin (90 mg once a day), group 2 received oseltamivir (n=42) in a dose 150 mg twice a day. Duration of the course was 5 days. RESULTS: Ingavirin and oseltamivir normalized body temperature within treatment hours 24-36 if therapy was initiated in the first disease hours 27.0 +/- 10.0 and 31.9 +/- 10.4. Mean duration of the fever for ingavirin was 35.1 +/- 14.5 hours, for oseltamivir--26.3 +/- 13.0 hours (p < 0.817). The antiviral medicines significantly reduced duration of intoxication (head ache, weakness), catarrhal symptoms (cough, tracheitis, rhinitis), rate of complication vs. patients untreated with antivirus drugs (n=30). CONCLUSION: The results of the treatment show safety and efficacy of ingavirin in uncomplicated flu caused by pandemic virus of flu A (H1N1) sw1 in inpatients. Early etiotropic therapy is a basic treatment policy able to reduce the number of severe complications and lethality.

ABSTRACT

Indices of the quality of life and parameters of the psychofunctional status of patients with chronic active brucellosis are presented and the clinical efficiency of immunomodulator cycloferon in a complex therapy of this disease is estimated for a group of 40 patients. Cycloferon was administered to 20 patients, while the control group of 20 other patients received only a traditional therapy. It is established that the chronic active brucellosis is accompanied by a considerable decrease in parameters of the quality of life. The administration of cycloferon on the background of a base therapy leads to improvement of the quality of life and the parameters of the psychoemotional status in comparison to those achieved with the traditional methods of therapy.

ABSTRACT

The study including 427 patients with acute and chronic viral hepatitis was designed to assess results of clinical and laboratory diagnostics of hepatic problems and the state of thiosulfide antioxidative system. It was shown that infusion of succinate-containing preparation reamberin (400 ml/day for 10 days) took less time to eliminate clinical manifestation of the disease (dispeptic and asthenovegetative syndromes) than conventional therapy. Simultaneously the levels of biochemical markers of hepatic cytolysis and cholestasis significantly decreased while serum antioxidative potential recovered. The normal size of the liver was achieved 3.4 times more frequently than in control. No side effects or adverse reactions other than listed in the instruction for use of reamberin occurred. The preparation had to be withdrawn only in one patient.

ABSTRACT

The aspects of virus hepatitis C immunopathogenesis are discussed. The main attention is paid to higher production of Th1 cytokines providing active protection of the host from HCV. The up-to-date approaches to the therapy of chronic hepatitis C, described in the literature and the original ones, including the triple therapy with immunomodulators of various mechanisms of action, i.e. cycloferon (injections and tablets), galavit and derinat are presented. The comparative efficacy of the therapy is estimated. Cycloferon is shown to be the drug of choice in the treatment of patients with virus hepatitis addicted to narcotics. The clinical and laboratory efficacy of the metabolic hepatoprotector remaxol with antioxidant activity is described. Its high effictivity and satisfactory tolerability (side effects requiring discontinuation of the drug use were recorded only in 0.3% of the cases), as well as the minimal risk of no biochemical remission after its use allow to conseder remaxol as a highly efficient metabolic hepatoprotector for pathogenetic therapy of chronic hepatitis.
