ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a number of popular fluorine-containing caries prophylactic drugs by determining the level of solubility of tooth enamel in laboratory conditions. MATERIAL AND METHODS: For testing fluorine-containing preparations, three observation groups were formed: Group I - using the preparation with the content of fluorides 4%; Group II - with a preparation for deep fluoridation of enamel, consisting of a liquid saturated with fluorine, copper and magnesium, as well as a suspension of calcium hydroxide; Group III - with a three-component gel based on carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) the content of fluorides 1.5%. The study was carried out by using the method of «enamel windows¼ and modeling in the laboratory the processes of both natural and pathological solubility of tooth enamel and determining the level of its solubility by analyzing the decalcifying solution of the oral fluid for the content of calcium and phosphorus ions in it. RESULTS: In the course of the study of fluorinated karyoprophylactic preparations on the enamel surface, according to the observation group, the most active karyoprophylactic fluorinated compositions were identified. CONCLUSION: The data obtained from laboratory studies allow us to formulate clear recommendations for practical health care for the most effective use of the properties of the tested fluorine-containing drugs for prophylactic purposes or in relation to the therapy of focal demineralization of enamel: to obtain the most effective result of the prevention of dental caries in the conditions of practical dental treatment, we recommend applying gel fluoride preparations, and in the treatment of initial caries of the enamel of the teeth, give preference to systems for deep fluoridation of the enamel of the teeth.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: The aim of the study was to test caries preventive gel compositions by a developed and patented objective laboratory method for evaluating the effectiveness of prophylactic agents based on the active transport of ions through tooth enamel. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The experiment used a prototype device for assessing ion transport and pork fangs filled with saline solution and immersed in various caries preventive media. An electric current was passed through the device and then the internal solution was analyzed in laboratory conditions for the concentration of ions in it. RESULTS: Minimal fluoride concentration (F≤500 ppm) with optimal concentration of calcium and phosphate ions does not impair ion transport to deep layers of enamel thus promoting active remineralization of dental hard tissues. CONCLUSION: During the experiment, the most active and promising gel-based caries preventive compositions were established, and a method for evaluating the effectiveness of prophylactic agents was proposed.

ABSTRACT

The aim of the study is to analyze the oral health of school-aged children in Omsk in schools with and without dental service and to assess the efficacy of school dental service for the prevention of oral diseases. In 2016-2017 1103 12 and 15-years old were examined in school with dental service functioning for 15 years and in one with the absence of dental service for the last 21 years. The study revealed lack of preventive approach in school dental service. The main criterion for the assessment of preventive program realization and efficacy should be dental caries reduction and caries-free children rate but not the amount of treated and extracted teeth.

ABSTRACT

The aim of the study was to identify informative, in terms of predicting caries process, laboratory parameters of homeostasis of the oral cavity in children of different age groups. A total of 1158 children of preschool and school age with caries were screened to determine laboratory parameters of homeostasis of the oral cavity by examining of the oral fluid. Caries in children was characterized by certain age specific physico-chemical parameters shift in the oral fluid. Complex set of the most informative laboratory indices reflecting the resistance and susceptibility to dental caries in children of different age groups was revealed. The obtained data allowed creating mathematical models for prenosological prediction of caries in preschool and school age, which formed the basis of "Stop caries" software.

ABSTRACT

Leading scientific and organizational prerequisites for the feasibility of clinical examination of the entire child population of the Russian Federation to the dentist is, above all, the high prevalence and intensity of dental diseases in children of all ages. As a result of many years of research and follow-up of children of preschool and school age we have proved the need to distinguish a group of children with zero activity of dental caries. The referring criteria are determined according to the results of comprehensive clinical and laboratory examination in order to determine the degree of risk of dental caries and individual caries resistance. The age-specific risk group is settled by "Stop caries" software. In order to optimize the preventive activities children are divided in 5 groups for routine preventive dental care. Unfortunately the efforts of modern dental services aimed at eliminating the consequences of caries process by filling cavities. Individualized preventive approach will increase the effectiveness of preventive measures and save public funds allocated in the amount of compulsory health insurance for pediatric dentistry.

ABSTRACT

Health education of children mostly covers children of preschool age. It is not always successful because sanitary training inkindergarten is a mere formality. The aim of the study was to increase the effectiveness of prevention of oral diseases inpreschool children by improving the system of hygiene training and education. Dental examination of 225 3 to 5 years oldsliving in the city of Omsk was performed. The level of hygienic habits/oral care formation was carried out by studyingquestionnaires and interviewing children, parents, caregivers and healthcare professionals. Authors method of oral hygieneeducation in preschool children was introduced and compared to different methods of hygienic training and education may. Itsimplementation resulted in 46.5% caries incidence growth reduction The developed technique of the gradual formation of oralhygiene habits proved to be both clinically and cost effective.
