ABSTRACT

One of the long-standing challenges of current lead-free energy storage ceramics for capacitors is how to improve their comprehensive energy storage properties effectively, that is, to achieve a synergistic improvement in the breakdown strength (Eb ) and the difference between maximum polarization (Pmax ) and remnant polarization (Pr ), making them comparable to those of lead-based capacitor materials. Here, a polymorphic polar nanoregions (PNRs) structural design by first introducing 0.06 mol BaTiO3 into Bi0.5 Na0.5 TiO3 is proposed to construct the morphotropic phase boundary with coexisting structures of micrometer-size domains and polymorphic nanodomains, enhance the electric field-induced polarization response (increase Pmax ). Then Sr(Al0.5 Ta0.5 )O3 (SAT)-doped 0.94 Bi0.5 Na0.5 TiO3 -0.06BaTiO3 (BNBT) energy storage ceramics with polymorphic PNRs structures are synthesized following the guidance of phase-field simulation and rational composition design (decrease Pr ). Finally, a large recoverable energy density (Wrec ) of 8.33 J cm-3 and a high energy efficiency (η) of 90.8% under 555 kV cm-1 are obtained in the 0.85BNBT-0.15SAT ceramic prepared by repeated rolling process method (enhance Eb ), superior to most practical lead-free competitors increased consideration of the stability of temperature (a variation <±6.2%) and frequency (Wrec > 5.0  cm-3 , η > 90%) at 400 kV cm-1 . This strategy provides a new conception for the design of other-based multifunctional energy storage dielectrics.

ABSTRACT

Microwave dielectric ceramics are vital for filters, dielectric resonators, and dielectric antennas in the 5G era. It was found that the (Cu1/3Nb2/3)4+ substitution can effectively adjust the TCF (temperature coefficient of resonant frequency) of Li2TiO3 and simultaneously increase its Q × f (Q and f denote the quality factor and the resonant frequency, respectively) value. Notably, excellent microwave dielectric properties (εr (permittivity) ≈ 18.3, Q × f ≈ 77,840 GHz, and TCF ≈ +9.8 ppm/°C) were achieved in the Li2Ti0.8(Cu1/3Nb2/3)0.2O3 (LTCN0.2) ceramic sintered at 1140 °C. Additionally, the sintering temperature of LTCN0.2 was reduced to 860 °C by the addition of 3 wt % H3BO3, exhibiting superior microwave dielectric properties (εr ≈ 21.0, Q × f ≈ 51,940 GHz, and TCF ≈ 1.4 ppm/°C) and being chemically compatible with silver. Moreover, LTCN0.2 + 3 wt % H3BO3 ceramics were designed as a patch antenna and a dielectric resonator antenna, both of which showed high simulated radiation efficiencies (88.4 and 93%) and gains (4.1 and 4.03 dBi) at the center frequencies (2.49 and 10.19 GHz). The LTCN0.2 + 3 wt % H3BO3 materials have promising future application for either 5G mobile communication devices and/or in low-temperature co-fired ceramic technology owing to their high Q, low sintering temperature, small density, and good temperature stability.

ABSTRACT

This work describes the synthesis, characterization, and photocatalytic activity of new composite nanomaterials based on ZnO nanostructures impregnated by lipophlilic porphyrins derived from cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL). The obtained nanomaterials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and steady-state photoluminescence spectra (PL). The results confirm nanostructures showing average diameter of 55 nm and an improved absorption in the visible region. Further, the FTIR analysis proved the existence of non-covalent interactions between the porphyrin molecules and ZnO. The photocatalytic activity of prepared photocatalysts was investigated by degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) in aqueous solution under visible light irradiation and natural sunlight. It was demonstrated that the photocatalytic activity increases in the presence of the porphyrins and, also, depends on the irradiation source. The development of composite photocatalysts based on porphyrins derived from CNSL provides an alternative approach to eliminate efficiently toxic wastes from water under ambient conditions.

ABSTRACT

We simulated and analyzed in detail the behavior of ultrashort optical pulses, which are typically used in telecommunications, propagating through graphene-based nanoribbon waveguides. In this work, we showed the changes that occur in the Gaussian and hyperbolic secant input pulses due to the attenuation, high-order dispersive effects and nonlinear effects. We concluded that it is possible to control the shape of the output pulses with the value of the input signal power and the chemical potential of the graphene nanoribbon. We believe that the obtained results will be highly relevant since they can be applied to other nanophotonic devices, for example, filters, modulators, antennas, switches and other devices.
