ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To observe the clinical effect of repetitive transcranial acupuncture stimulation (rTAS) combined with electroacupuncture (EA) in treatment of acute facial palsy with retroauricular pain. METHODS: Sixty-eight patients of acute facial palsy with retroauricular pain were randomly divided into an observation group (34 cases, 3 cases dropped out) and a control group (34 cases, 3 cases dropped out). On the basis of conventional therapy, in the control group, Yangbai (GB 14), Cuanzhu (BL 2), Sibai (ST 2), Quanliao (SI 18), Dicang (ST 4), Yifeng (TE 17), Qianzheng (Extra point) and Taiyang (EX-HN 5) on the affected side, and bilateral Hegu (LI 4) were selected. EA was attached to Yangbai (GB 14) and Cuanzhu (BL 2), and Sibai (ST 2) and Dicang (ST 4), respectively, using intermittent wave. In the observation group, on the basis of the regimen as the control group, rTAS was delivered at Baihui (GV 20) and the 1/5 of the lower motor area on the bilateral sides; EA of dense wave was given at the sites of the mastoidⅠand Ⅱ. The intervention of each group was delivered once a day, 6 times a week as one course for 4 courses and taking a day off every course. Before treatment and at the moment after the first treatment completion, the score of visual analogue scale (VAS) was observed in the two groups and the days of retroauricular pain were recorded. Before and after treatment, the score of Sunnybrook facial grading system (SFGS), the grade of House-Brackmann facial nerve function evaluation system (H-B), the latency and amplitude of the motor conduction from the foramina stylomastoideum to the frontal muscle, the orbicularis oris muscle and the orbicularis oculi muscle on the affected facial nerve, were observed in the patients of two groups and the clinical effect was compared between the two groups after treatment. RESULTS: After treatment, SFGS score was increased (P<0.05), H-B grade was improved (P<0.05), the latency was shortened in the motor conduction from the foramina stylomastoideum to the frontal muscle, the orbicularis oris muscle and the orbicularis oculi muscle on the affected facial nerve (P<0.05) and its amplitude elevated (P<0.05) when compared with those before treatment in the two groups. In the observation group, SFGS score was higher (P<0.05), H-B grade was superior (P<0.05), the latency was shorter in the motor conduction from the foramina stylomastoideum to the frontal muscle, the orbicularis oris muscle and the orbicularis oculi muscle on the affected facial nerve (P<0.05) and its amplitude was higher (P<0.05) when compared with those of the control group after treatment. After the completion of the first treatment, VAS score of either group was reduced in comparison with that before treatment (P<0.05), and the score in the observation group was lower than that of the control group (P<0.05). The duration of retroauricular pain was shortened in the observation group when compared with that of the control group (P<0.05). The total effective rate was 87.1% (27/31) in the observation group, which was higher than 77.4% (24/31) of the control group (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The rTAS combined with EA is effective for reducing neurologic impairment of acute facial palsy and alleviating retroauricular pain in the patients.

ABSTRACT

This article explores the impact mechanism of different types of environmental regulations on corporate green technology innovation (GTI). The research focuses on analyzing three types of environmental regulations: command based environmental regulation (ER1), market-oriented environmental regulation (ER2), and voluntary environmental regulation (ER3), and how they affect corporate GTI. This study selected enterprise GTI as the dependent variable and measured it by the number of applications for green invention patents and green utility model patents. The independent variables are the three types of environmental regulations mentioned above. According to data from Chinese A-share listed companies. Using benchmark regression models to analyze the impact of different environmental regulations on GTI, and constructing a moderating effect model to study the role of corporate R&D investment and government support in the process of environmental regulations affecting GTI. The results indicate that (1) ER1, ER2, and ER3 can all promote enterprise GTI, and the three environmental regulatory methods have a better synergistic effect. (2) R&D investment has a positive correlation with the relationship between ER2 and GTI, and a negative correlation with ER 3 and ER 1. (3) There are differences in the GTI performance of enterprises in different regions, ownership nature, factor density, and industry types under the influence of environmental regulations. (4) The impact of environmental regulatory policies on corporate GTI is mainly short-term. This study provides a new perspective on how environmental regulations affect corporate GTI, especially in the context of developing countries like China. The research findings emphasize the role of different types of environmental regulations in incentivizing corporate GTI, while also pointing out factors that governments need to consider when formulating environmental policies, such as regional differences and corporate characteristics, which are of great significance for promoting green development of enterprises and achieving broader sustainable development goals.

ABSTRACT

The interface microzone characteristics determine the thermophysical properties of diamond/Cu composites, while the mechanisms of interface formation and heat transport still need to be revealed. Here, diamond/Cu-B composites with different boron content were prepared by vacuum pressure infiltration. Diamond/Cu-B composites up to 694 W/(mK) were obtained. The interfacial carbides formation process and the enhancement mechanisms of interfacial heat conduction in diamond/Cu-B composites were studied by HRTEM and first-principles calculations. It is demonstrated that boron can diffuse toward the interface region with an energy barrier of 0.87 eV, and these elements are energetically favorable to form the B4C phase. The calculation of the phonon spectrum proves that the B4C phonon spectrum is distributed in the range of the copper and diamond phonon spectrum. The overlapping of phonon spectra and the dentate structure together enhance the interface phononic transport efficiency, thereby improving the interface thermal conductance.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To compare the clinical effect between head acupuncture combined with exercise therapy and conventional acupuncture for nonspecific low back pain. METHODS: A total of 64 patients with nonspecific low back pain were randomized into an observation group (32 cases, 2 cases dropped off) and a control group (32 cases, 2 cases dropped off). In the control group, conventional acupuncture was applied at Jiaji (EX-B 2) of L1 to L3, ashi point, Shenshu (BL 23), Dachangshu (BL 25), Yaoyangguan (GV 3) and Weizhong (BL 40). The observation group was treated with head acupuncture combined with exercise therapy, head acupuncture was applied at foot-motor-sensory area on the healthy side and Cuanzhu (BL 2), Tongziliao (GB 1) on the affected side, and McKenzie therapy was performed during retention. The needles were retained for 40 min, once a day, continuous treatment for 6 days with the interval of 1 day, 14 days were required in the two groups. Before and after treatment, the pain visual analogue scale (VAS) score, Oswestry disability index (ODI) score and infrared thermography temperature of pain area in the low back were compared in the two groups. RESULTS: Compared before treatment, the VAS and ODI scores after treatment were decreased in the two groups (P<0.01), and those in the observation group were lower than the control group (P<0.01). Compared before treatment, the infrared thermography temperature of pain area in the low back after treatment was increased in the two groups (P<0.01), and that in the observation group was higher than the control group (P<0.01). CONCLUSION: Head acupuncture combined with exercise therapy could relieve pain, improve dysfunction and increase the local temperature of pain area in patients with nonspecific low back pain, and its curative effect is better than conventional acupuncture.

ABSTRACT

Professor SUN Shen-tian's academic thought and clinical experience of acupuncture for peripheral facial paralysis are summarized. According to the different stages of facial paralysis, professor SUN 's treatment plan has its own emphasis. In the acute stage, professor SUN emphasizes the importance of standardized western medicine treatment, and proposes early acupuncture treatment. The treatment mainly focuses on dispersing wind and cold, promoting blood circulation and dredging collaterals. In the recovery stage, professor SUN emphasizes the method of "pulling the sticking needle", and applies repeated transcranial acupuncture according to the functional orientation of cerebral cortex. In the sequelae stage, professor SUN emphasizes the value of regulating the mind. In the course of treatment, professor SUN highly values the use of flexible acupoint selection, repeated transcranial acupuncture, "pulling the sticking needle" method, acupoint pressing and giant-needle method, combined with electroacupuncture and targeted injection. In addition, based on the clinical experience, professor SUN summarizes the common methods to estimate the prognosis of peripheral facial paralysis.

ABSTRACT

The effects of solid-state fermentation with Cordyceps militaris (L.) Fr. on the nutritional, physicochemical, and functional properties as well as angiotensin I converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory activity of red bean (Phaseolus angularis [Willd.] W.F. Wight.) flour were determined. Fermentation increased the amount of small peptides but significantly decreased large peptides. Fermentation also increased proteins and essential amino acids (by 9.31 and 13.89%, respectively) and improved the in vitro protein digestibility (6.54%) of red beans. Moreover, fermentation increased the water holding capacity (from 2.36 to 2.59 mL/g), fat absorption capacity (from 84.65 to 114.55%), emulsion activity (from 10.96 to 52.77%), emulsion stability (from 5.43 to 53.82%), and foaming stability (from 11.95 to 20.68%). Fermented red bean flour achieved a lower least gelation concentration of 14% than that of the control (18%). In contrast to the non-fermented red bean, the fermented red bean showed ACE inhibitory activity, with IC50 value of 0.63 mg protein/mL. Overall, fermentation improved the nutritional, physicochemical, and functional properties as well as the biological activity of red bean flour. Thus, fermented red bean flour may serve as a novel nutritional and functional ingredient for applications in food design.

ABSTRACT

Ultrasound-assisted aqueous extraction (UAAE) was used to extract oil from Clanis bilineata (CB), a traditional edible insect that can be reared on a large scale in China, and the physicochemical property and antioxidant capacity of the UAAE-derived oil (UAAEO) were investigated for the first time. UAAE conditions of CB oil was optimized using response surface methodology (RSM) and the highest oil yield (19.47%) was obtained under optimal conditions for ultrasonic power, extraction temperature, extraction time, and ultrasonic interval time at 400 W, 40°C, 50 min, and 2 s, respectively. Compared with Soxhlet extraction-derived oil (SEO), UAAEO had lower acid (AV), peroxide (PV) and p-anisidine values (PAV) as well as higher polyunsaturated fatty acids contents and thermal stability. Furthermore, UAAEO showed stronger antioxidant activities than those of SEO, according to DPPH radical scavenging and ß-carotene bleaching tests. Therefore, UAAE is a promising process for the large-scale production of CB oil and CB has a developing potential as functional oil resource.
