ABSTRACT

To perfect extracurricular work of the trainee physicians in acquiring new knowledge and skills in childhood neurology, the pedagogical collective of the Chair of Nervous Diseases have elaborated a definite system of training. Apart from the generally accepted methods, namely the solution of topical and situational problems, the trainees participate in specialized thematic discussions, master manual skills, and so forth. The system elaborated favoured more proper preparation of the childhood neurologist for independent work.

ABSTRACT

Clinical variants of ischemic brain strokes with a tumor-like course were studied in 97 patients. It was shown that different mechanisms of the development of ischemic impairment of the cerebral circulation in patients of different age accounts for a variety of clinical manifestations. The author has elucidated distinguished characteristics in the rate of disease development, severity of the hypertension syndrome and the nature of focal disorders in patients of young, middle, elderly and old age, which should be taken into account in the diagnosis.

ABSTRACT

The authors present the results of examining 31 patients with the Tolosa-Hunt syndrome and analyze the relevant literature data. According to the authors, the syndrome may be due to limited pachymeningitis in the area of the cavernous sinus, periarteritis (arteritis) of the carotid artery siphon and their combination with limited leptomeningitis of the same localization. Clinical polymorphism depends on the nature, degree and stage of the process as well as on the individual characteristics of the topography of the damage. The necessity of the differential treatment is emphasized.

ABSTRACT

Twenty-nine patients from 28 to 50 years of age with ischemic stroke following a pseudotumorous course were under observation. The patients were divided into 2 groups: those aged from 28 to 40 formed group 1, patients of 41 to 50 years of age formed group 2. Total occlusion of the cerebral vessels in the basin of the internal artery was the morphological substrate responsible for the development of stroke in group 1. In group 2 cerebral infarction was caused by two mechanisms: total obstruction of the cerebral vessels and partial occlusion of the vessel, and chronic cerebrovascular insufficiency.
